Being a guest has an etiquette to it. The etiquette consists of not being yourself whatsoever.

You like to let your dishes soak at home. At someone else’s house there’s soap and water being scrubbed all over those plates as soon as the last crumb leaves the plate.

Kick your shoes off and know the general area where you left them. At someone else’s house you find out shoe racks exist.

Gather multiple varieties of beverage to bring to your area and drink at leisure. At someone else’s house only drink what is offered and somehow end up making yourself and the host that drink.

Need the loo? At someone else’s house you don’t know what bowels or bladders are.

Generally this is on first visits, as soon as you’ve been there once you turn into your scruff goblin selves when hanging in the confines of home walls.

We see the Scoobies hang out in each other’s homes and dorms. Xander punches a hole in Willow’s wall, Anya exists wherever Xander is living. Buffy cooks a thanksgiving dinner at Giles’ while complaining about his lack preparation for it.

Which brings us to this week’s poll -

“Are Willow and Tara good house guests?”

Yes – Willow brings salad to the table and Tara doesn’t say the food makes her want to barf.
No – Willow takes advantage of Joyce caring for her sick daughter and Tara let Sophie in.

No purely because ‘make yourself at home’ is an expression. They literally made it their home (in practicality, not paperwork).
Wouldn’t change a thing about that but when a guest gets their own key cut, then you have to question if they’re even a guest anymore.
