Exactly. I have tremendous admiration for Pat Head Summit and everything she's done at UT over the years. When Vanderbilt's not involved, I've actually been known to cheer for the Lady Vols. But this is Tournament time and another Vanderbilt-UT showdown is looming, and I'm not going to like UT under those circumstances.

Hey guys,
I hope you didn't think I was grry or anything there. I didn't mean to be, promise. Cause as you guys said, Tennessee does give a lot of money to their women's athletic program, and they're a great team. Actually, there is a contingent of students at UT who kind of resent all the money put into the sports programs. Most of us who went there have been in it at one time or another, lol. I'm far from being a Vols maniac or anything--I really only commented cause I thought it was interesting (in a good way) to see people having different opinions about them. It's hard to get exposed to those (on nearly all subjects) in small town, East TN. Hope that clears up my non-existant grr on that issue;-)
Peace and love,
Holly

Hey Holly,

I didn't think you were upset.

Quite frankly, I want UNC to kill Vandy and it would be nice to see Duke win it all, (after stomping UConn into the ground.;-) But, if Vandy wins or UT or even the 'hated yankees' from UConn, it really doesn't matter because all the women that play on those teams are still winners. They're winners because they got to play in the NCAAs! And a lot of why the NCAAs are so important right now has to do with Pat Head raising the bar and people trying to catch-up to UT.

(Hope that makes sense. And I mean it, I don't think it really matters who wins--just the fact that they get to play. No toe stepping was intended.)

Go Duke! (and unc)

Just have to stand up for my team the UConn Huskies. I know people say they don't deserve to win because they have too many advantages (with recruiting, all their all americans, the fact they always seem to be in the hunt, etc), but I really enjoy watching this team play. This season to me and other UConn fans seems to be so special with the way they been defeating their competiton and by going undefeated, that I think winning it all would be a very special history making event. So all I can say is go UConn!

Hey Diana,
I totally agree. It's all about fun, and everyone is obviously great to be there in the first place. I also think it's really cool that Vandy has such an awesome team. In football, a lot of people at UT totally make fun of them (which isn't very nice,) so it's cool to see them get to na na na na na a bit in basketball.
Hope everyone is having a great start to the weekend!
Peace and love,
Holly

P.S. I didn't think you were toe-stepping. My toes are step-free.;-)

Not very nice, but unfortunately often deserved. Vanderbilt's football team hasn't been to a bowl game since I was a freshman there.

Thanks Holly!

But, um, football? Vandy football?
Ah, Football? Duke--Football--0 and 36--nuff said.;-)

BTW: I got to see a game or two of UConn's this year (I got a sat-dish for Buffy) and I have to say, they look really, really good and tough. I haven't seen team-defense like they play in a long time.

Still the SEC was pretty intense....

May I just say: that as a fan of woman's basketball I can't wait for the final four! I just can't wait to watch those games because there are just so many good teams out there.

(I still hope I didn't step on toes! I just love basketball, period, and I'm getting excited about watching the games coming up.)

Go Duke, (and unc)

Both Vanderbilt and Tennessee won today, which means the big showdown is set for Monday night at 9:30pm Eastern Time. The winner moves on to the Final Four.

You know, in some ways this might be a bigger game than the Tournament Final.

Meanwhile, over in the men's bracket Indiana made it to the Final Four today by beating Kent State. Woo-hoo!

Congrats on Vandy winning! I can't wait for the Monday because I know that's going to be a great game!

Man! My team - Stanford - lost last night. By one point! They had the ball in possession. They should have gotten a decent shot off. But Colorado's defense was just... all over the place.

I'm kinda hoping Colorado can actually take it all the way. They haven't been getting the respect that this squad deserves. And it's nice to go for the underdog every once in awhile.

I don't know why, but for some reason I am a big Penn State fan. I'm glad they made it as far they did considering how they started out, and that they lost to a first class team. There is no doubt in my mind that UConn has what it takes to win it all. Love Ya Lions, you had a great season, but best of luck to the Huskies.

I'll be rooting for Duke in the Final Four, but the Tennessee/Connecticut game will be good, too, I'm sure.

I'll be right there with you Jane! Did you get to go to any of the games at the ESA?

Go Duke!

But, man, did anyone see that UConn game--it left my mouth hanging open drawing flies--I have never seen defense played that well in my life! I'd seen ODU play a bunch times this year, and they are huge, I thought they were going to give UConn a run for their money...Wrong.

Also, did anyone see that interview with UConn's coach and what he said to A. Beard for Duke? Class act.

Go Duke!

::: Kamil takes a stroll through the thread, singing a happy little tune that goes kinda like this:::

Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner, OKU.

I'm Sooner born and Sooner bred and when I die I'll be Sooner dead. Rah, Oklahoma, rah, Oklahoma, rah, Oklahoma, OKU!

Heee, we're in the final game!! Now if my guys can handle Indiana tomorrow afternoon, I'll be one happy little Sooner. Born and bred.

Rosalind rocks, and our Price is always right. Heh.

Another UConn fan saying that was a great game against Tennesse. I just love the way the Huskies play team basketball, and how they overwhelming beat their opponents. If UConn can win on Sunday they will go down as one of the great women basketball teams in history. So all I can say is Go UConn !
