Chapter 13
Willow woke up at dawn the following morning with a pounding head ache. 'Who ran me over with a semi?' she silently mused to herself as she noticed the weight of Tara fast asleep, still sitting on her lap. She spent several minutes absorbing the blonde woman's beauty, she didn't wish to disturb the apparently peaceful sleep of her lover, but she desperately needed to use the restroom. She carefully nudged Tara who had so tenderly fallen asleep with her arms wrapped around her.
Tara opened her eyes to find emerald eyes staring back at her. She smiled weakly and looked around the magic shop. The rest of the gang were still scattered around the dimly lit shop, all apparently still asleep.
"Good morning," Willow whispered to Tara as she leaned in and placed a feather soft kiss on the blonde witch's lips.
"Good morning back at ya. Ouch! Did I get thrown into the spin cycle of a washing machine?" Tara replied as she withdrew from the kiss and started to rub her temple.
"Yeah, I feel it too, although I thought mine came from an encounter with a demonic semi-truck," Willow replied, giving Tara a lighthearted smile.
"I need to use the little girl’s room," Willow whispered sheepishly into the nearby ear.
"Oh," Tara responded, suddenly aware of her accommodations, "I s-suppose that would be easier if I got off my cozy perch?"
As Willow got out of the chair the rest of the gang started to stir. "I had the craziest dream," Xander announced as he sat up, "Oh, no, not my luck. It wasn't a dream, was it?" he asked no one in particular.
Buffy stood up and dryly replied, "Nope, just another day in Sunnydale."
"Well at least the shop didn't get trashed, again," Anya replied as she got down from the counter near the cash register where she had spent the night.
"Yes, we were incredible lucky that Tara and Willow were here…" Giles added as she stood up and brushed off the sleeves of his tan jacket.
Willow returned to the main shop floor to find the gang gathered around. "Do you think it's safe to go out there?" she asked Giles, who was feverishly cleaning his glasses.
"I suppose for now it is. There is no knowing when "they" will try it again, but for now I think it should be safe," Giles responded.
"Good, well, I guess know I have to deal with a fate worst than swarms of vampires," Willow said, getting everyone's attention.
"I have to return the car that got mangled last night to my parents," Willow said, her face turning to one of intense worry.
"I don't suppose they'll like that too much," Xander added sympathetically, knowing how the Rosenbergs would react.
The car actually started, much to their surprise, although it had thousand of dollars in damage to the side that had slammed into the wall.
Willow and Tara both got into the vehicle after saying their goodbyes to the gang and agreed to meet at the Magic Box later in the evening. Willow sat behind the steering wheel of the battered car and let out a long sigh. She dreaded confrontations with her parents, she knew how they would be disappointed and didn't look forward to the disapproving looks from her mother.
Tara, sensing Willow's anxiety, took the redhead's hand in her own and started tracing gentle circles in her palm. Willow looked over at the amazing woman beside her and forced a smile. Tara gave her the strength, as her fears started to fade away she started the car and set off for her parent's house.
---
Willow's heart was racing as she pulled into the familiar driveway. She shut the car off and was mustering the courage to get out and ring the doorbell when she saw her mother run out the front door towards her.
"Willow, honey, what happened? Are you ok?" Sheila said in an alarmed tone as she reached the car and yanked the door open.
Sheila had poked her head out of the house after hearing a car pull into the drive and had only up till now seen the damage to the windshield. "There was a terrible hail storm last night," she said, "I hope you didn't get caught in it."
"Well, actually, um, hail storm, right, well I did get caught in it, and actually kinda got into a accident," Willow replied, trying her best to sound casual, but Tara could still hear the anxiety in her voice.
"WHAT?" Sheila exclaimed as she rounded the car and took in the sight.
"Willow, I'm very, very disappointed in you. Your father and I lent you this car in trust and you've destroyed it!!!" Sheila exclaimed as she shot Willow an angry glare.
"Mom, I really can explain, it wasn't my fault!" Willow pleaded as tears swelled in her eyes.
"Did you file a police report? Did you get their insurance information?" Sheila asked as she tried to calm her nerves and steady her voice.
"Um, no, well, I didn't have an accident with another car," Willow tried to explain in vain, but her mother was turning a deaf ear in response to this further explanation.
Sheila just then noticed the other person silently sitting in the car and in a burst of anger exclaimed, "And who is this!? Another of your hooligan friends? Always getting you in trouble… every since that Summers girl moved to town…" her sentence was cut off by the look in her daughter’s eyes.
"You leave Buffy out of this," Willow said with courage and anger pouring out of her eyes. "And this is Tara, my girlfriend," Willow finished before really thinking what she was saying.
Sheila stood speechless for several seconds starting at her daughter in disbelief. Tara felt the tension in the air escalating violently as she got out of the car and carefully walked over to Willow's side, taking her hand in her own for quiet reassurance.
"No, she is not your girlfriend," Sheila replied coolly, "No daughter of mine is a lesbian. How dare you say that to hurt your mother so, and after all I've done for you, you inconsid…”
Her angry speech was suddenly interrupted by Tara, "M-Mrs. Rosenberg, your d-d-aughter d-d-id not say that you make you mad, it's true, we are in love, and the state of your car is not her fault."
All three women stood silent for what seemed like an eternity. Finally Sheila spoke in a harsh yet somewhat calmer voice, “Willow, you can't. You're our only daughter, you'd destroy your father and mine's dreams of grandchildren and plus you two can't be together, you can't even marry!"
"That is ALL not true, we can get married in Canada, England, Spain… and in fact I think I WILL marry Tara and we can adopt. I don't need your approval, so consider me gone," Willow finished, before she broke into a quiet sob and started to walk away.
Tara walked after Willow, giving her mother one last defensive glare as she reached her crying lover and enveloped her in her loving arms. "It'll be ok," she whispered to Willow reassuringly as they walked down the street.
Sheila stood in a daze, watching her only daughter walk away. Noticing how gentle and nurturing Tara was with her, she suddenly felt terrible about the entire encounter.
Chapter 13 - part 2
Tara walked Willow back to the dorms with a protective and reassuring arm around the smaller woman's shoulder. They walked mostly in silence, both women reexamining the events of that morning.
'She really wants to marry me?' Tara mused to herself as she felt her spirit start to rise, but looking at her intensely hurt lover made her heart sink back down into the pit of her stomach. 'Tara you can't be thinking of that at a time like this' she internally scolded herself.
They reached the dorm’s parking lot around noon, there was the usual lunch time crowd going on with its business, as if nothing had happened the night before. 'I wonder if these people even know how close they all were to dead?' Willow silently mused, trying everything to get her racing mind off her mother's cruel words. Her mother's words had been a cold slap on the face, her anger at the car's condition was somewhat understandable, but the way she not only refused, but also condemned the love she had for Tara was a blow Willow was not prepared to take.
"W-Willow, d-do you want to go to your room?" Tara asked politely in a near whisper.
"Yes, I would really like to shower... all that vanquishing vampires and all. I think I broke a sweat," she responded with a forced smile. Tara looked down at the ground, not knowing how to help Willow's pain.
"I don't want to be alone, would you come with me? I have some clothes you can borrow if you want to take a shower." Willow asked in a tired, but hopeful tone.
"O-of c-course I will, my love," the last words spoken in a shy whisper.
Tara could have sworn she saw the corner of Willow's mouth turn up in a faint smile at the words.
They arrived at Willow and Buffy's room to find that Buffy was gone, yet again, which was just as well. They took turns showering in the community bathrooms and lay in Willow's single bed snuggled up, Willow resting on Tara's shoulder as the blonde woman held her tight.
Tara finally spoke "Willow, if you need to talk about it, you know I'm always here for you"
"I know baby, just, not right now. Now I just want to rest, safe in your arms," Willow responded as she closed her eyes willing the thoughts out of her head.

Meanwhile at the Magic Box...
A large pile of bound, ancient looking, books lay open before a focused Giles. "No, no, No it can't be. Bloody hell," he kept repeating to himself as he scanned the reference books and intently re-read the book in front of him. "I must be translating it wrong," he muttered to himself.
"What’s got your knickers in a twist now Giles? Another swarm of vampires soon?” Buffy asked shooting Giles a friendly grin. Buffy had spent most of the morning pondering the happenings of the night before. She had stayed up late into the night watching her best friend sleep with Tara curled up in her arms. The picture of Willow with Tara seemed perfectly natural to her but she still felt uneasy about not knowing, and wondered why Willow had not told her.
"Well, remember how last night, well, what Willow and Tara did?" Giles asked uncomfortably.
"Yeah, saved the day?" Buffy answered sarcastically.
Giles sighed and responded, "Yes, broke the spell, but you know how they did, when, well.. anyways... I was curious about it; it seemed to magnify their powers beyond anything I ever thought possible"
"Yessss... and that's great, cause without it, pooff, no more Sunnydale," Buffy remarked casually.
"Yes, well, I've been researching further on this so called 'Kiss of Love' and it turned out it is kind of a spell unto itself...well not exactly a spell but definitely magic," Giles explained.
"Ok, so what are you all 'Bloody helling' for then?" Buffy asked, not entirely amused with where the conversation was going.
"I'm no expert, but from what I've manage to translate, the 'Kiss of Love' is sort of a bonding ...bloody, not possible..." Giles suddenly stopped talking and immediately ran his finger down the page of his text.
"Buffy, you NEED to get this book to Tara now," Giles stood up inserted a page in the open book, closed it and handed it to Buffy. "She's probably better qualified to translate this specific language. I might be wrong about the whole thing, but you better get over there soon, just in case..."
"In case of what?" A confused Buffy replied.
"You don't want to know," Giles replied. Buffy could swear she almost saw Giles begin to smile but nonetheless took the book and headed for the dorms.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Willow and Tara were abruptly awoken by a panting Buffy entering the room. She immediately tossed the ancient text on the foot of Willow's bed. "Sorry to interrupt nap time but Giles seemed very intent on you guys seeing this now," she said rolling her eyes and flopping down on her bed.
Tara sat up and eyed the cover of the book with purpose, "I wonder.." she started.
"What is it?" Willow asked, still shaking the sleep from her worn body.
"It appears to be some sort of ancient witch's reference guide to unconventional magics" Tara replied curiously picking up the book and opening it to the indicated page.
Tara started the translating process immediately, instantly recognizing why Giles had sent over this specific volume.
"What does it say?" Willow asked as she moved to look over Tara's shoulder. "Oh, I can kind of make out what that says," she stated enthusiastically.
Tara smiled at the cheer in her lover's voice and continued in her translation.
"Ok, I'm dying to know, what is it? Giles wouldn't tell me," Buffy said as she perched on the end of her own bed.
"Well, it's in regards to this 'Kiss of Love,' which is not really a spell, but it does involve magic," Tara said, "It says that when two daughters of the goddess meet under the 'Kiss' their souls become mates"
"So you two are soul-mates? That's nice, I mean I'm so very happy for you both, but I still don't understand why Giles had me come over in such a hurry," Buffy added.
Tara's eyes grew wider as she read further down the text, She didn't want to come to the wrong conclusion, she carefully looked over at Willow who was know intently studying the text.
"What can you make of it?" Tara asked Willow.
"Um, everything you said ...oh...and here at the end I think it says once the two souls are joined with the kiss, their essence combines and they um something I don't understand and their lives combine? I don't know it's kind of hard to make out," Willow added frowning at her inability to translate perfectly.
"Well, I think this word stands for create," Tara said as she pointed to the page, "and this, physical."
Willow looked curiously at the page, completely boggled.
Tara read the page quicker than Willow and turned a deep shade of crimson as her suspicions became truths.
"What is it?" Buffy asked again curiously almost falling over the edge of her bed, trying to take a look at the book, like she would understand it if she saw it.
Willow continued her reading. "Hey, why? Wait, it seems that there is some sort of temporary spell here…to keep their lives from combining?" Willow asked no one in particular. "That word, it does mean to create? It says create life, not combine lives?"
Tara looked up at Willow with tears of joy in her eyes, "I really do think so. That's why Giles though we should know sooner, rather than later"
"Ok, hey, slayer here, out of the loop, better let me on whatever it is, or I'm going to start kicking asses," Buffy said in a humorous huff.
"You say it," Willow told Tara, as she felt her face flush to match her hair.
"I-I, w-well...I-it" Tara started, suddenly unable to make a sentence.
"Out with it, woman," Buffy insisted with a playful grin.
"Ok," Tara took a deep breath before she continued, "I-It's like, whatever happened last night bound me and Willow in an extraordinary way, allowing us to create life together." Tara had said it all in the same breath.
Buffy looked at her confused and chewed on the information for a moment. "So, you’re saying that you and Willow can, um, make babies?" Buffy hated the way that sounded, but wanted to be sure.
Tara simply nodded, "a-and there is a temporary spell that... it's basically birth control for us... so we don't ... you know...right now..." Tara said admiring her own courage at saying these things out loud.
Buffy sat on her bed with her jaw wide open and started to laugh. "Haha... well, it's only fair, we have to use birth control, so should you," she continued laughing until she was lying on her back gasping for air.
It must have been the nerves but Willow and Tara joined in laughing. The three laughed till all of them were in tears.
After the fit of giggles passed, Buffy took the text and headed back to the Magic Box, partially to give Giles the news but mostly to leave Willow and Tara to their intimately revealing moment.
As the door closed behind Buffy, Willow sprang into Tara's arms. "Oh, I love you so much baby, it's been a long day already, but this news is making me so happy that everything else is in the shadows," Willow said and then started to place a multitude of soft kisses on Tara's face.
Tara's eyes filled with tears of joy as she embraced the redhead lovingly, gently caressing the young woman's back. "I love you too baby, I love you so much that even the goddess took note."
The blonde woman slowly lowered Willow onto her back then gently brought herself to her side gazing steadfast into the hazel-green eyes that beamed with so much joy. She lowered her face to Willow's, her lips hovering less than an inch away from her lovers’. “Willow, I'm yours. Body, mind and soul," she whispered before dropping down to meet the awaiting lips.
Willow could feel the familiar bolts of pleasure course down her spine at the feel of the soft moist lips slowly dancing against her own. "Wait," Willow whispered as she reluctantly pulled herself away from the sweet lips above hers. "What if we, you know, accidentally..."
"Shhh..." Tara whispered calmly to her lover, "I didn't want to mention it in front of Buffy, but a kiss won’t conceive a child. It-it-it has to me much more," Tara explained, emphasizing the last word, as a deep blush crept up her fair cheeks.
Willow looked up at Tara curiously and cocked her head to one side like puppies do. Tara's blush deepened as she leaned close to Willow's ear and explained more graphically what she meant.
Now, it was Willow's turn to blush, after all they had only been intimate twice.
"You know," Willow said.
"No, I don't," Tara responding teasingly.
"I'm really glad we could, if we wanted to, um, you know," The red hair now matching her freckled face.
"Me too," Tara whispered into a nearby ear, "b-but until we, um, cast that 'other' spell, we should probably not…you know."
Willow nodded in silent delight, what had started as a terrible day had turned out to be one of the most wonderful days of her life. She leaned up to passionately kiss the woman above her, pouring all of her emotions into the kiss to which Tara responded to with a deep moan.
