Part one:
Sunnydale, late at night.
Buffy walked back from the graveyard towards her house at Revello drive; she stared at the night sky.
“Beautiful clear night.” She said to herself, she felt a cold chill in her body. It was a very cold night, winter was coming and that would mean longer nights and more vampires.
“Nice night for a walk huh slayer?” A voice called.
Buffy turned to face the vampire who seemed to be getting somewhat obsessed with her. “Spike, now what?”
“Thought I’d give you a hand tonight Buffy, you know slay the demons.” The blonde haired vampire said.
“Shit.” Buffy exclaimed. “Spike leave me alone ok, I just want to go home and go to bed. I don’t have time for your games.”
“God Buffy, I am here to help you.” Spike shouted at her. “Besides I don’t see any sign of that cute little girlfriend of yours.”
“Fuck off Spike; I don’t need your help.” She said venom in her voice. “And you leave my girlfriend alone you bastard.”
“Fine slayer.” Spike said, he could tell Buffy was in a foul mood. “I’ll piss off then, leave you to go play with that little blonde witch of yours.” With that and sweep of his duster, he turned and walked away.
Buffy was pretty annoyed now, Spike always had a way of doing that, she just wished he would get out of her life and leave her alone. He had gotten worse since she had started dating a girl.
After she and Angel spilt up, Buffy had met a pretty girl called Michelle who was about six months younger, but really had something about her, Buffy fell for her and they became a couple.
Buffy didn’t mind dating a girl; in fact she had been so much happier since Michelle had walked into her life. Her best friend Tara was a lesbian from college had always been there for her, but Buffy wished she would find herself a girlfriend.
Behind her another figure stepped out, watching her with interest, the pale green eyes focused on the blonde girl walking away. The wind blowing her redhair about in the cold night air.
“So you’re the slayer, pretty girl.” She paused a moment. "Now all I have to do is make contact and hope to you don’t slay the hell out of me.”
“Well well well, what do we have here?” A voice from behind her said. “A vampire, something I can kill.”
She turned around to see a platinum blonde figure glowering at her, a cigarette dangling from his lips. She regarded him for a moment, looking at his bad boy look, the long dark leather duster, and the black leather pants.
“Bored now.” She said, unimpressed.
“Hey bitch.” He said. “Look at you, all miss trying to be all normal, you’re a vampire now go with it love, unless those military bastards stuck a chip in your head.”
She rolled her eyes; this was not what she had in mind for tonight, to be talked at by a wannabe bad ass vampire. She looked away from him to see if she could catch a glimpse of the blonde girl. There was no sign of her. “Damn it.” She muttered to herself.
“Oh I get it.” The blonde haired vampire said, catching the gleam in her eye. “You play for the other side, like the slayers best friend Michelle."
“Well aren’t you the clever one.” She said the tone of sarcasm heavy in her voice.
“Listen up bitch, this town is mine; the slayer is mine alright, so back off.” He said. “My name is Spike, and you’d better not forget it.”
“Oh really, well I think you are forgettable, so please get lost loser.” She said.
Buffy summers watched from a distance the two vampires; she had sensed the presence of the female vampire and had doubled back to take care of her. She couldn’t believe this quite pretty redheaded girl was actually arguing with Spike.
Spike came up close to the girl’s chest and looked down on her. “You don’t really want to mess with me, I’m the big bad, your nothing little girl.”
“You know I really am bored now.” She said. She reached behind her back and pulled something from her back pocket. “You wanna help make it better?”
“Yeah alright.” Spike said.
In a blur so fast that Buffy nearly missed it; the redhead moved her hand with the object and buried it deep into the blonde vampire’s chest.
“Oh bollox.” He said, right before he exploded into dust.
Buffy couldn’t believe it, Spike the vampire who had pestered her for years, who she so wanted to kill, but refused to do it because of his chip which made him harmless to humans. The man she hated with loathing was gone, dusted by another vampire.
The redhead turned around to see the blonde slayer standing in front of her. She knew who it was and what she needed to do, she just hoped that the slayer wouldn’t jump the gun and attack her. Instead she relaxed and dropped the stake to the ground.
Buffy caught the look in the redhead’s eyes; the girl was looking at, the stake still in her hand. She was attractive with long hair, pretty pale green eyes, slim and petite. She didn’t look threatening but then she was a vampire so looks could be very deceiving. Buffy kept the stake in her hand but didn’t threaten the girl with it, just watching and waiting for her to make a move.
“Hey.” The redhead said. “You must be Buffy Summers, the vampire slayer.”
“That would be me, and you are?” Buffy asked her.
“Willow Rosenberg, sort of a vampire.”
“Sort of?” Buffy asked puzzled. “How can you be sort of be a vampire?”
“The vampire who turned me had a soul, when I became a vampire my soul didn’t leave me, it’s complicated.” She said and frowned.
Buffy glared at her. “Wait a minute; did you say a vampire with a soul?”
“Yeah I did say that.” Willow said.
“Oh my god.” Buffy said. “Did you know his name?”
“Yes.” Willow replied. “Why what’s wrong, what’s freaking you out?”
“Tell me, what is his name?” Buffy said, her voice agitated as she thought of Angel.
“His name was Lawson.” Willow told her, she noticed Buffy’s face relax and soften. She breathed a sigh of relief.
“Sorry thought it was someone else, I know a vampire with a soul, that’s all.” Buffy told her.
“I know him, Angel.” Willow told her. “He’s a good guy, Mr goody goody.”
Buffy fixed her with a glare. “So what does that make you?”
“I’m not here to hunt or kill people if that’s what’s bugging you.” Willow said. “I’m here to help you, Angel sent me, said sorry he couldn’t come.”
“Well you could just know Angel and say that to gain my trust?” Buffy said.
“Yeah I know, that’s why he said to me to say this. Buffy I’m sorry that I couldn’t be there for you longer after your mom’s funeral, he is glad he came though.”
Buffy knew that only Angel could have known about that, it gave her a little more reason to trust this Willow. Buffy regarded the vampire girl before her, she watched as she slid the small wooden stake that she had killed Spike with into the holster at the rear of her jeans.
“Angel sent you?” Buffy asked.
“Yeah, he said you got this trouble going on with Glorificus or something.” Willow said. “Look I am not happy about this either, I hate being used.”
Buffy couldn’t help but smile; she shrugged her shoulders and sat down on the curb. “I know how you feel there.”
“Take and go.” Willow added.
“Use and abuse.” Buffy sighed.
Willow sat down next to the slayer; she didn’t know what to say now. The Slayer didn’t seem to be interested in killing her so that was a good start.
Buffy broke the silence. “Hey I forgot to say thank you.”
“What for?” Willow asked puzzled.
“Dusting Spike, nice one.”
Willow gave her a smile. “Anytime, happy do it besides he was not my type.”
“I gathered, what is your type?” Buffy asked her.
Willow gave the slayer a little smile. “Girls.”
“Oh!” Buffy said. “You’re gay.”
“Yeah, guess that must wig you out.”
Buffy giggled. “No Willow, sorry I didn’t mean it like that. Being gay is totally cool; my best friend Tara is gay. I have a girlfriend too, so don’t worry, you liking girls totally cool.”
Willow perked a little at the mention of this Tara being gay, but she thought it best to keep her thoughts under control. So you have a girlfriend too?”
“Uh huh.”
“Lucky girl.” Willow whispered.
Buffy felt the chill of the night, and stood up, she turned back to the vampire. “Hey Willow, where are you staying?”
“Well was going to find a nice crypt around here, make a home I guess.” She said.
Buffy looked deep into the vampire’s eyes, she could sense that she wasn’t evil or going to attack her. Besides Angel had sent her so it wasn’t all-bad. She swallowed and made her choice. “Willow, come on.” Reaching out her hand to the vampire.
Willow hesitated at first but took her hand. “Thank you.” She said simply.
“Vampire that says thanks, is ok in my book.” Buffy said.
It didn’t take them long to reach the home of Buffy at 1630 Revello Drive; Buffy led Willow up to the steps and unlocked the door.
“Nice place.” She commented.
“It’s pretty much rebuilt, but yeah its home.” Buffy said and stepped inside. She turned to the vampire and waited a moment. “I invite you in.”
Willow stepped over the threshold and closed the door behind her, turning to the slayer she just smiled.
“Are you hungry?” She asked the vampire.
“A little.” Willow admitted.
Buffy disappeared into the kitchen and returned with a mug of blood, she handed it to the vampire without a pause.
“Thank you, how come you keep blood here? Do you have like vampires over for tea a lot.” Willow said grinning.
Buffy laughed at the joke. “Well Spike, did come over a few times, and with Angel and I having history, I have some in the house.”
Willow didn’t turned away to drink the blood, Buffy watched as two long fangs emerged. She saw that Willow’s eyes didn’t turn yellow or the forehead become all bumpy like the others.
"Oh my god, what kind of vampire are you?" Buffy asked.
Willow looked a little sad. "I don’t really know to be honest, I am mostly human, and I can survive exposure to daylight." She said. "I still need blood to live though, I have the strength but the little bit of demon in me tends to make me super cranky. I am not immortal though, I will age and die like a human being. So one day I will be a grey haired girl with big fangs, that should go down well I guess, or maybe it won’t.” She stopped when she saw the grin on the slayers face. “I was babbling wasn’t I?”
“A little.” Buffy giggled.
“I wish they had a cure for that.” She said.
Buffy smiled. “Don’t worry, hey super cranky, I like it, do you feel better now, and you’ve had a little drink."
“Much, thanks.” Willow said. He hunger pangs had subsided. “I hope you have a good butchers shop in town, in case I do get hungry.”
Buffy nodded. “Have you ever killed a human?”
Willow looked a little sad. “Yes, he was not a nice person though, murdered my human lover Sarah. So I killed him, he was evil though liked trying to kill girls.”
Buffy was a little shocked. “Your human girlfriend?”
Willow nodded. “Yes I had a human lover, she was amazing, and she helped me, made me feel special and loved.”
“You loved her?” Buffy asked.
“Yes I did, I know being part vampire I shouldn’t know love, but I really loved her.” Willow said, the sadness in her voice brought a little tear to the slayers eye.
"How did you kill him?" She asked.
"Flayed him alive, was the only fit punishment he deserved for what
He did to her." Willow said. "Makes me look bad huh?"
"A little harsh." Buffy admitted. "What did he do to her?"
"Tortured her, then slit her throat in front of me, before I had a chance to save her life." Willow told her. "So I took my revenge on him, he what he deserved, I feel no shame in what I did."
Buffy felt sorry for her, she was honest which at least made her more trustworthy than some humans she knew. The loss of a loved one was always painful and to see her murdered in full view must have been horrific even to a vampire. "I'm really sorry." She said.
"I'm sorry about your mom, Angel told me she died recently." Willow said. "I hope it wasn’t this Glorificus creature or a vampire."
Buffy shook her head. "No it was natural causes, brain haemorrhage" She paused, glancing at the clock she noticed the time. "Hey Willow its kind of late, do you want to get some rest?"
“Sure do you have a nice basement I can hide in?” She said.
"Yeah I do have one, but its pretty full of junk right now, I have spare bedroom though it will be a lot more comfy too." Buffy suggested. "Tell you what, come on I'll show you."
Buffy grabbed her hand and led her up the stairs to the spare room, it wasn’t full of much and the bed was made and looked comfy. Buffy drew the curtains, they completely covered the window.
"The bed doesn’t face the window at all so the sunlight won’t get to you, but if it helps I can tape the edges to be sure." Buffy said.
“Hey sunlight not an issue with me remember.” Willow reminded her.
“Opps sorry, my bad. Hope this is suitable?” Buffy asked
Willow smiled. "It looks fine, thank you, its nice and cosy."
Buffy returned the smile. "Your welcome, we can figure things out in the morning ok? Good night Willow."
"Good night Buffy." Willow replied. She watched as the slayer left the room and closed the door behind her, leaving the vampire alone again.
Willow sat on the bed and removed her boots and jeans, she took off her top and then slid into the covers of the warm bed. Pulling the bed sheets up as far as she could.
"Well this is nicer than a crypt that’s for sure." She said to herself. "Angel was right about her, she is a very special woman. I hope that I can help her, give me a purpose in life now I am alone in the world."
Buffy hoped that tomorrow would reveal a little more about the young girl and what her mission was and how she could help stop Glory from taking Dawn. Two things had happened tonight, which at least made the slayer smile. Spike was gone, and there was a possibility of a new friend, even a part vampire, but a new friend who could help fight Glory would be a bonus.
Climbing into her bed she breathed a sigh of relief, tomorrow would she would try and figure out the next course of action, she would need to see Giles about this latest development, and hope he could understand that Willow could help them.
As her eyes closed she thought of the young girl asleep next door, she had barely known her about an hour or so but she felt, as the girl was her dearest friend. "Besides she is very cute, wonder if she is Tara's type." Buffy thought to herself.

Willow awoke the next morning; she was curled up in the bed as far from the window as she could be. She looked over and saw that no direct sunlight had entered the room. Pulling back the bedcovers she stretched her arms and sat up.
"When did morning get here so fast?" She thought to herself. She glanced at the clock and saw that it was nearly nine o'clock. "Damn did I sleep that long?"
She threw back the covers of and got out of the bed, standing there in her underwear she went to the chair where she had placed her clothing.
There was a knock at the door; she walked over and then opened the door to see Buffy standing there.
"Hey Willow, oh sorry didn’t realise you went that dressed yet." Buffy apologised to her.
Willow quickly pulled on her jeans, and put on her top to cover her nearly naked body from the slayers eyes.
"Sorry about that." Willow apologised.
"Again with this sorry, for a vampire you say sorry a lot." Buffy said grinning. "Not that I mind it, it's cool."
"Well part vampire, I guess that's just the humanity in me." Willow told her. "I would love to know how I fit into things, I don’t really belong in either world."
Buffy regarded her for moment, she thought about some way to find out more about the half vampire half human girl. “Willow, I have a friend who might be able to help. Rupert Giles, he is my watcher. He is English and knows stuff so don’t worry we’ll figure it out.”
Buffy turned away as she could hear a knock at the door. “Oh shit, who is that?” Buffy said. “Sorry Willow I’ll be back in a moment.”
Willow followed her out to the top of the stairs; she stayed there not wanting to reveal herself to whoever it was. She watched as Buffy opened the door, Willow watched as a blonde girl stepped inside the house.
The vampire moved a little closer to the edge of the stairs to try and get a better look at the young woman. She wondered who it could be, was it a friend of the slayer or perhaps even a lover.
“Hey Tara.” Buffy said greeting her friend. “You’re up early, is there something wrong?”
“It’s Mr Giles, he is worried about Dawn, and he wants you to pick her up from Xander’s then meet him at the magic box.” Tara told her. “Sorry Buffy I know it’s early.”
“That’s ok Tara don’t worry.” Buffy said reassuring her friend. “Um Tara, do you trust me?”
“Of course I do Buffy, you know that.” Tara said. “What’s up, are you ok?”
“I’m fine, but when I was out on patrol last night I met someone, she’s knows Angel and I think she’s here to help.” Buffy told her.
“But?” Tara said, sensing the hesitation in her friend’s voice.
“Tara, she’s part vampire.” Buffy said.
“Oh, sorry did you say part vampire.” Tara enquired.
“Yeah she is has soul, can walk in the daylight, but still needs blood to live. I was hoping Giles might be able to figure out how she is different from other vampires.” Buffy explained, she could see the look of concern in Tara’s face
“Do you trust her?” Tara asked.
“She’s been in the house all night, she could have hurt me, plus she dusted Spike last night.” Buffy said grinning.
“She dusted Spike?” Tara asked her she sounded a little shocked.
“Yeah, kinda cool that.” Buffy said, her smile not fading. “Tara you’re a pretty good judge of character. I’ll introduce you.”
“Um ok.” Tara said nervously.
Buffy climbed the stairs and made her way to the spare room, Willow was standing by the bed looking out into the garden. The sunlight bathing her face, Buffy still couldn’t believe it but there she was a vampire in direct sunlight and she was fine.
“Hey Willow, can you come with me, there is someone I’d like you to meet.” Buffy said.
Willow nodded. “Sure.” She followed the slayer out of the room and down the stairs into the living room.
If Willow had breath it would have been taken away, as she gazed on the young blonde woman in front of her. The soft delicate skin, so clean and warm, the jeans that hugged her beautiful figure. Willow’s gaze moved up, her pale cream fluffy sweater that hugged her body, revealing her somewhat ample bosom. She had beautiful blonde hair that to Willow made her think of an angel. Finally Willow met her gaze; Tara had two of the most perfect blue eyes she’d seen.
Willow could tell in an instant that this girl was a good person, kind, loving and gentle. She knew that if her heart was alive and beating it would be racing by now, such was the beauty of the girl in front of her.
Tara stood motionless as she saw the vampire in front of her; she was a little shorter, very petite and somewhat fragile looking. Her beautiful redhair rested on her shoulders. Tara’s first thoughts where that she had never seen anyone so beautiful in all her life. She took step forward and looked straight into the pale green eyes.
“Goddess.” Tara whispered. Looking into the redheads eyes, she saw a little grief, but there was some warmth too. She studied her for several moments, just looking into the vampire’s eyes. Finally and somewhat reluctantly she broke eye contact and turned to Buffy.
“Her soul is good.” Tara said simply.
Buffy smiled, she had watched the looks on both girls’ faces as they saw each other, she could tell that there was spark there.
Willow just couldn’t tear her eyes away from the blonde girl in front of her; she had to be an angel or a goddess or something. She had never seen a more beautiful girl in her whole life.
“My god, you are so beautiful.” Willow said, she noticed that Tara blushed at the compliment. “Well least she isn’t freaking out.” Willow thought to herself.
Tara was a little surprised; the cute little redhead thought she was beautiful. Tara had never thought of herself as beautiful before. She had often been shy about herself, and with her family being so horrible to her, it had dented her self esteem.
Willow could sense that Tara was shy and somewhat lacking in confidence. She took a step forward and reached out, half expecting the blonde girl to back away. Tara didn’t though, she stood firm and just watched.
“You really are beautiful, I really mean it.” Willow said again. “I may be a half breed vampire, but I am not lying to you, I kinda speak my mind though.”
“R r r really?” Tara said her voice faltering. “So are you.” She said, her heart speaking before she could stop her mouth from opening.
Willow couldn’t help but smile. “Thank you.”
Buffy broke the moment. “Ok girls, lets go, I’d better go get my sister before Anya and Xander ruin her childhood with sex talk.”
She grabbed her car keys and opened the door, it was very warm outside and the sun was shining. She turned back to see Willow still locking eyes with Tara, she smiled and had to admit at least it wouldn’t take much effort to get them to kiss.
“Come on.” She said.
Tara reluctantly broke eye contact and walked out of the door and turned around waiting for Willow. Willow followed her and stepped out into the sunlight.
Buffy couldn’t still believe that his girl was a vampire as she was standing outside in the direct sunlight and she was fine, no flames, and no smoke rising from her body. “Least you can get a tan unlike most vampires.”
Willow laughed. “Still a redhead, so I do burn a little faster.”
Tara walked ahead of the young vampire and opened the car door and climbed into the back seat, she motioned for Willow to join her.
Buffy leaned in close to Willow. “She’s a little shy.”
Willow threw Buffy a naughty smile and winked. “I noticed very cute though.” She then walked off after her and sat on the seat next to Tara.
Buffy sighed to herself. “This is going to be an interesting day I think.”
