A/N: So i would have had this posted friday night, but i had a little Incident, and i managed to burn my finger. I personally blame my friend who didn't tell me it was a bad idea to touch the hot glue from a hot glue gun.

. So it was weird to type not using one of the fingers on my left hand so i kinda put it off. I'm peachy now so here's the update.
CHAPTER 3
Tara walked into her apartment unbuttoning her knee length red coat with one hand and tossing her keys onto a desk by the front door with the other hand. Looking up she noticed someone in her apartment who shouldn’t have been there, rummaging through things in her kitchen.
Her footsteps were light in an attempt to go unnoticed by the trespasser. She passed through the archway and into the small kitchen coming up right behind the trespasser and grabbed her by the shoulder. The trespasser let out a startled “EEK” before being pulled around to face the blonde.
“God Tara, so you have to do that?” The young brunette girl asked holding a hand to her rapidly beating heart.
“God Dawnie” Tara responded sarcastically mimicking Dawn, “do you have to continue breaking into my home?” she asked rhetorically, falling into a somewhat playful banter with the younger girl.
“Hey I did not break in. I just happened to be coming down the fire escape and your window just happened to be unlocked” she said following Tara, who during Dawn’s defensive comment had turned and walked out of the kitchen picking up her mail that had been on the table by the front door since that morning and proceeded to go into the living room. Dawn took a seat on the blonde’s couch watching Tara absently sort through the mail. Having registered Dawn’s comment, she paused in her routine to raise a questioning eyebrow at the brunette as if saying ‘Yeah right’.
“Yes, but you only use the fire escape when you intend to come into my home.” Throwing the mail on the coffee table in front of the couch, she almost shrugged out of her coat before stopping herself and pulling it tighter around herself instead, remembering that Dawn knew nothing of her alter ego.
“Whatever” the young girl brushed off the remark, “you know you have virtually nothing in your fridge.”
“No I hadn’t realized” Tara said, trying to remember when was the last time she had gone shopping. She could imagine her mother reprimanding her for not taking better care of herself. “I’ll change and you can accompany me to the store since you insist on eating all my food you can help pick out what we eat.” Dawn perked up at this and Tara gave a small smile at her enthusiasm over something as mundane as grocery shopping.
Meanwhile at the Summers/Rosenberg Residence
Willow Rosenberg packed away the last of her high tech gear and uniform into a chest that she kept at the foot of her bed activating her custom designed security lock before she went to seek out her longtime friend and roommate Buffy Summers. Buffy was currently placing an order for two large pizzas to be delivered in 30 minutes or less or it’s free. Buffy Summers was determined to get her free pizza, and wouldn’t order pizza from anywhere else until she had done so at least once.
Entering the kitchen Willow walked passed the preoccupied woman to rummage through the refrigerator, noticing there was no soda. She turned to the freezer instead opening the door she noticed they were also out of chocolate ice cream. That just wouldn’t do.
“Hey Buff, were out of soda and ice cream.” She heard Buffy hang up the phone. “I’m gonna run to the store real quick”
“Okay Will, I have to wait here for the pizza, it should be here by the time you get back” The redhead nodded her head in acknowledgement of the statement and left the kitchen grapping her jacket and keys on the way out.

Sunnydale’s only supermarket was large and usually packed at this time of day, by working parents looking for a quick fix for dinner and a barrage of people picking up last minute meal items. Willow could be considered one of the latter, forced into the store to mingle with the crowds of rushing individuals.
Willow had just picked up a case of Cola and was on her way to the ice cream aisle dodging carts and preoccupied shoppers as she went. Dodging a woman chattering on her cell phone pushing a cart filled to the brim. “Hey watch it” the woman yelled briefly pulling the phone away from her ear and glaring at Willow before returning to her phone conversation, She stopped around the corner from her intended destination, considering yelling back, but thinking better of it continued to enter the aisle pondering what type of ice cream to buy when she stopped dead in her tracks at the sound of a familiar voice.
“Look Tara I’m telling you Ben and Jerry’s is not only the best ice cream out there but a necessity to any freezer.”
“Yes, but not four cartons” the other non familiar voice responded, handing back two cartons of the ice cream for the brunette to put back. Willow made straight for the two people, coming up just as Dawn had replaced the ice cream in the industrial freezer. She quickly pulled the girl into a tight hug.
“Oh my God Dawn how are you?” Willow asked as she maintained her grip on the startled girl.
“Uh… Will, air” Dawn gasped out. Willow released her with a sheepish grin on her face. “Um, I’m fine” the brunette said looking anywhere but at Willow for a few moments before looking to Tara who wore an absolutely puzzled look. Instead of introducing the two women however Dawn just continued to look awkward and distant. Wanting to break the silence that fell over them Tara reached out her hand.
“H-hi, I’m T-Tara.” Willow took Tara’s hand and responded
“Willow, Willow Rosenberg” They stood that way for a few moments that seemed to stretch out forever as the two women forgot about Dawn standing right next to them and merely looked in each others eye’s, keeping contact between each other.
“Um… earth to Tara, paging Willow. I’m still here” Dawn broke in after neither one of them moved for nearly a minute. They immediately broke contact releasing the others hand to return their attention to the Dawn. “How are you Willow? I haven’t seen you in what nearly a year?”
“Not since Joyce died” Willow replied, feeling a tinge of sadness remaining over the death of what she considered a surrogate mother.
“Yeah” Dawn looked to the ground before finding something else to talk about. “How’s Buffy?”
“She’s okay, misses her little sister a lot.”
“I miss her too Willow. It’s just hard… I” Dawn trailed off fiddling around with various items in the cart to avoid looking at the redhead.
“You should come visit her. Maybe catch up.” Willow suggested as a means to reunite the two sisters.
“I’ll think about it” Dawn said before pushing the cart away expecting Tara to follow.
“I-it was n-nice meeting you Willow” Tara said before running off to catch up with the brunette, leaving Willow at a loss of what to do or really what had happened.
When Dawn and Tara were out of Willow’s sight Tara stopped Dawn’s forward movement with the cart, “You were very rude. What was that all about?”
Dawn let out a huff before releasing the handle of their cart and turning to Tara. “That was my sister’s friend. I don’t know, we were all really close. She was like part of the family. After Mom died it was just hard to be in her house and pretend like everything was okay, like everywhere I looked I didn’t see Mom. I guess Buffy just didn’t understand that cause she decided to stay there even though I begged her to sell the house and move.”
“So is that why you moved into the apartment upstairs” Tara questioned, trying to create a better picture of the situation in her head.
“Well only after I graduated UC Sunnydale. I didn’t think they’d like a graduate living on campus.” Dawn chuckled trying to lighten the mood a bit, pushing the cart once again. Tara gave a small laugh as well, “Do we need anything else?” she asked.
“No, I think that’s it” Tara said following Dawn to the registers in front of the store. They remained silent until they got to the front and began loading items onto the conveyor belt. “I know it’s not really my place Dawnie, but I think you should visit your sister. Family’s important. I mean I miss mine.”
“Hmm, maybe.” Dawn continued placing items on he belt as the store’s employee rang up each purchase. Tara stood in front of the young boy watching him scan each item before placing it in a blue plastic bag. “Do you really miss your family?”
“Everyday” The blonde said, watching the laser bounce off the last item sending the data to the computer to calculate the total.
“Your total is $75.00” the boy said, Tara pulled out her wallet shuffling through some bills before pulling out a few twenties and a ten dollar bill and handing it to him.
“Well, okay. But only if you come with me” Dawn conceded moving ahead of Tara to gather the bags she could carry.
