Okay, to some extent I finally got over my vicious case of writer's block to type a little something up. It's one of the shortest chapters but I had to shove a little something in there to keep the story rollin. So, without much further ado...the next chapter.
Oh, and I'm also sorry to say but there will be no angry-flesh-eating Dawn monsters in this part...
Chapter 12: The Innocent BystanderThe soaking wet Scoobies, apart from Dawn and Willow who didn’t have a single speck of H20 on them, went back to the lemonade stand to get more water, seeing as how they had waisted all of theirs and were all still very thirsty.
The girl working at the stand shook her head and smiled as she saw them return. She’d seen the whole thing and she had found it all highly amusing. She’d seen many water fights go on in front of her stands, but none had been this fun to watch. When she saw them returning she automatically started to fill up some cups for the group, knowing exactly what they’d be wanting when they got up to the stand.
When the group got up to the stand the girl cut in before Xander could ask for water. “6 more cups of water right?” she asked, a small smirk tugging at the edge of her lips.
A sopping wet Buffy shook her head, flinging water droplets in every direction. “How’d you guess?”
“Water fights tend to happen. And then the participants usually come back and want more water cause they waisted all of theirs dumping it onto the other person.” She grinned.
Buffy chuckled, “Guess you get a lot of that huh?”
“Pretty much.” The girl shrugged as she started filling the 3rd cup of water. “It’s fun to watch the reactions.” She grinned a knowing smile.
“So how much did ya see?” Xander asked joining in the conversation, while picking up the cup she handed to him.
“Saw the whole thing.” The girl smiled and pointed to the spot they had been in.
Willow gulped, “The whole thing?” she asked, her voice a squeak, recalling exactly what the girl could have seen.
The girl smirked as she turned her head to the two witches who were both blushing furiously. “All of it. Every. Last. Thing.” She grinned and had to work very hard to keep her laughter bottled up inside as to not to burst out laughing in front of the two women who were so obviously crazy about each other.
Tara’s face must have gotten at least 10 shades redder than her previous color and she buried her head into her hands, trying to hide. “Oh my God!” she moaned.
The girl couldn’t help but snicker, along with Anya and Buffy. “Don’t worry.” She said in a stage whisper to them, “I won’t tell anyone.”
Dawn, who had along with Buffy, Anya, and Xander had seen what had happened with Willow and Tara joined in the laughter. “And besides,” she told the lemonade stand girl, “you wouldn’t have to! Half the park saw it anyway!”
This said, the girl couldn’t hold her laughter in anymore and she burst out laughing, along with Buffy, Xander, and Anya, who were all already doubled up, much to the humiliation of Willow and Tara.
The girl had finished pouring their cups of water and everyone claimed a glass. “Try drinking it this time. I know throwing it on each other again must be very tempting but your gonna clean us fresh out.” She winked at them. “I suggest the Roman Rapids. You wanna get wet then that’s the place to go.”
“Okay thanks!” Buffy said before taking a small sip of her freshly poured water. “So which way do we go to this famous wet ride?”
The girl leaned over her stand and pointed to her left, Buffy’s right, “Keep walking that way until you get to the petting zoo, then turn left and walk to that big thing where it tests your strength and look to your right and you should see a big sign that says “Roman Rapids”.” She smiled politely.
“Great, thanks!” Buffy smiled her killer grin and turned back to her friends. “Okay you guys, you heard the nice lady, let’s go!” she turned back to the girl, “Thanks!”
The girl smiled, “Anytime.” They all turned and walked passed the girl, heading to where she pointed out for them. Tara passed quickly, almost as if she was trying to sprint out of sight. Willow followed but stopped when she heard the girl call after her, “Hey!”
Willow turned around, eyes wide and more than a little red. “Yeah?”
The girl smirked, “Nice tongue action.” She winked and smirked, causing Willow to go so red even her red eyebrows stood out in contrast to the brightness of her face. Willow had nothing to say to that as a response so she just nodded quickly and hurried after the rest of the group, who, apart from Tara, were howling with fits of laughter.
Willow and Tara hurried to the front of the group and broke into a frantic jog, trying to get away from the scene of the oh-so-fun-to-commit crime, all the while both of them muttering “Oh my Gods” and “I can’t believe that just happeneds”.
