:yawn Just had to type him up. So adorable. :yawn

Hee... I didn't know it was your own challenge. :lol See... you're a doing a brilliant job at it. I'm very, VERY impressed. Thanks for writing this. I was hoping SOMEONE would, cause I love this type of setting. Ooooh... I'm wondering if you are going to fit in the part, where someone hits on Willow or Tara and the other get jealous?? I think that was part of it, right?? Can't wait.

No update before you leave, huh?? That's okay. I'll be psyched for it, when you get back. I hope you have a wonderful time, but don't have TOO much fun, now. ;)

Take care and be careful.

Me? Too much fun? No such thing! ;)

*sigh* this is probably the last time i can reply to anything before i leave cause it's midnight now and i have to get some sleep before waking up at the crack of dawn! *huff* :yawn (I love that thing!)

Ch. 10: The Battering Ram

Postby foreverpiper » Tue Aug 13, 2002 4:51 pm

Thanks to everyone...such a nice welcome home! :D Here's a short piece to hold you till tomorow, which is slightly longer...stressing the word slightly.

Chapter 10: The Battering Ram

After walking for about 5 or so minutes they had finally found themselves standing in front of the Battering Ram. It wasn’t that long of a line, which wasn’t that surprising because of the lack of people at the park. They stepped up to the line and began to wait.

Anya hoisted herself up onto the wooden rail. She crossed her legs and blew on her fingers as if they had just been painted and she was trying to dry them, while swinging her right leg back and forth. “I’m bored.”

“We’ve been waiting for three minutes Ahn.” Xander looked at her.

“Well that’s two minutes and forty-five seconds too long!” Anya wined.

Buffy caught onto the conversation, “Hey at least it’s not that long of a wait. I mean usually it’d be a fifteen to twenty minute wait. So consider yourself a lucky little ex-demon.”

Anya was about to reply when she suddenly lost her balance leaning back and slipped off the rail she has been sitting on. Buffy moved to catch her, but with surprisingly quick reflexes that dumfounded even him, Xander got their first. He grabbed her around the waist and stopped her head about three inches above the floor. As soon as Anya regained her balance she threw herself around Xander and yanked his head down to meet hers and gave him and intensely passionate kiss. When she finally pulled back after a few seconds Xander had a dazed look on his face. “Wha-”

“You saved my life!” Anya beamed.

Xander grinned and puffed out his chest, “I did, didn’t I?”

Buffy rolled her eyes, “Oh come on! Give me a break!”

Willow giggled and started to sing slightly off-key, “Gimmie a break, gimmie a break, break me off a piece of that –”

Dawn cut in and sang the last bit with Willow, “Kit-Kat Bar!”

Willow and Dawn broke into the giggles.

Anya’s face turned into a mock pout, “Hey!” she shouted at them, “Near death experience here! Does anyone even care? Do the girly-giggles another time!”

Willow bit her bottom lip to try and stop laughing but Dawn just laughed harder at Anya’s little outburst.

“It’s not funny!” Anya hit Xander.

“OW!” Xander shouted. “What was that for?”

Anya shook her head, “Well duh! I can’t hit Dawn cause she’s all little and everything and I can’t hit Willow cause Tara’ll get all large with the butch so you’ll just have to do.”

“I am NOT little!” Dawn crossed her arms, looking furious.

Willow and Tara snickered. Xander was just about to say something before the guy directly behind him tapped him on the shoulder and pointed to where the line had moved up. They stepped up and saw that they would be the first ones on the next ride after this one.

After the ride finished the employee signaled that they could get on. Dawn, Xander, and Willow made their way over to the very end of the left side, while Tara, Anya, and Buffy made their way to the very right. The seats were positioned so that the people on one side were looking directly to the people on the other, therefore, each of the divided Scoobies could look at one another face-to-face.

As more riders filed onto the rows in front of them, Willow, Xander, and Dawn began to make faces at the other three. Willow squinted her eyes and then hooked her thumbs into the corners of her mouth and stretched the crooks out. Dawn put her right hand over her head and put her fingers on her eyebrows and stretched them upwards, making her eyes go wide and stuck her tongue out for the final touch. Xander, meanwhile, didn’t make any faces, but instead succeeded in trapping his left hand into the safety bar. He glared struggling with it. This is the second time today!

On the other side of the ride, Buffy, Anya, and Tara were laughing at the picture the other three made. Tara squeezed her hand below the bar and somehow managed to get Xander’s camera out of her now dry pocket. She brought it up to her eye and aimed just as the ride started. She wasn’t prepared for the sudden jolt and the camera slipped between her mildly sweat coated fingers. She watched as if in slow motion as the camera flew out of her grasp and sailed slowly through the air. Tara closed her eyes and cringed, but when she didn’t hear a tiny clang and plastic crunching, she looked up and saw the small camera clutched tightly in Buffy’s hand. Buffy smiled and shook her head, waving a finger in Tara’s direction.

Click. Flash.

Buffy quickly shot the picture Tara was going to take before pocketing it and enjoying the ride.

As the boat rocked higher and higher, the real fun commenced. When Xander, Dawn, and Willow’s side went up, all three of them lifted their arms high into the air and screamed loud.

When Buffy, Anya, and Tara’s side repeated the process, they did the same, only they screamed even louder.

As the boat continued to get higher and higher the high-pitched yelling got louder and louder until it turned into an all-out-screaming competition between the two mini groups.

When the boat was at it’s highest point on the left side, Willow, Xander, and Dawn’s screams were so loud and high-pitched that even the people on the other side of the boat held their hands to their ears. As the boat began to rock the other way, Willow, Xander, and Dawn all supported triumphant looks on their faces.

On the right side, Tara, Buffy, and Anya all grinned secretively…for all of them had been holding back. When the boat was at it’s highest point, they took deep breaths and let out a long piercing scream that was so loud that the people standing in line winced and held their ears. The three Scoobies on the other side all had dumbfounded looks on their faces. They had been beaten.

“Dammit!” Xander cursed as the ride came to a stop. “I knew Buffy and Anya could scream, but Tara? Never knew she had it in her!”

Willow smirked, “She has many skills.” Her eyes glossed over as she got lost in thought about her girlfriend’s many, many skills…many of which had to do with what she did with her tongue.

Xander looked over to where Tara was getting out of the boat and his mouth began to water as he imagined the other secret skills Willow’s girlfriend hid. Willow saw the look on his face and smacked him playfully. “Hey! That’s my girlfriend you’re ogling! Ogle your own girlfriend.”

Xander grinned and averted his eyes over where Anya was standing, “Not girlfriend,” he corrected her, “Fiancé!” he looked positively giddy and the look made Willow chuckle.

“You’ve got it bad Harris.”

Xander nodded and replied dreamily, “Yep.”

Willow shook her head and shoved Xander out of the cart. They made their way out of their seats and followed Dawn who had left to join the others a few moments ago. The group collected all their junk and the stuffed prizes, and went on their way.

TBC…

My friends have ALWAYS tried to drag me on this ride! I live in a VERRRRYYY small town, and they hardly every have the bumpercars anymore but for some reason they ALWAYS have this ride! We always called it the Dragon here cause it's always in the shape of a dragon. Or a viking ship. But I'm just a tad scared of heights so I've never been brave enough to get on it. However they did talk me into riding those big swings one time (then I was the one saying 'lets go again') but ah back to the reason I posted I really love this story! It's just so dang cute! Keep up the wonderful work!!!!

Ch. 11: Water-Wars

Postby foreverpiper » Thu Aug 15, 2002 9:13 am

Stephie: You should totally go on it! Swallow your fear of heights and drag youself onto it! You'll have a blast! And if you don't wanna go too hight just get a seat in the middle ;) And i'm glad you love the story! :grin

Chapter 11: Water-Wars

After they got off the Battering Ram the group walked around a bit, trying to decide which ride to go on next.

Buffy struggled with Rufus, trying to find a more comfortable position to hold him with before finally plopping down on a nearby bench and removing him from her shoulders altogether.

“You guys!” she called to the rest of the gang, who hadn’t seen her sit down. They turned and walked over to her, “Why don’t we just dump our stuff –”

Your stuff.” Willow corrected.

Buffy rolled her eyes and corrected herself, “Fine, me and Dawn’s stuff off at a locker so we’re not stuck carrying it around all day.” Everyone agreed without a second thought. All of them had gotten sick of lugging around furry stuffed animals. It was too hot for fuzz. The lockers were about 5 minutes away so they backtracked and went to get one.

It was five bucks to rent a locker for prizes. Buffy dug into her very small pocket and pulled out the wrinkled bills. She counted out the correct change and gave it to the girl at the stand. The girl came around and collected all their stuff. As she was retreating back into the lockers Buffy shouted at her, “Take good care of Rufus!” The lady gave her a look that said she thought Buffy was insane, but that didn’t faze Buffy one little bit. “Bye Rufus! I’ll miss you!”

Satisfied, and feeling much better now she didn’t have a zillion foot caterpillar on her back, Buffy strolled away from the lockers, the rest of her group trailing behind her.

They walked around for a few minutes before Xander broke the silence by clapping his hands together, “Ok, who’s up for water? I’m parched.”

Everyone’s hands shot in the air simultaneously and they all grinned at their enthusiasm.

“I’m buying,” Xander said importantly, “for I am payday man!”

Buffy rolled her eyes at her friend, “Water doesn’t cost anything you half-wit.”

Xander blushed, “Oh.” After a second, his look of embarrassment turned into a look of confusion, “Wait, it doesn’t?”

Dawn shook her head along with her sister. “Nope.”

Xander’s face fell before a look of irritation filled his face. “Well crap! All those times I got coke or sprite cause I thought you could only get bottled water!” he looked over at Willow, “Why didn’t you tell me!?” he asked her, annoyed.

“I thought you’d figure it out eventually.” She gave him a look of pure innocence, “I just didn’t know eventually would take 5 years.”

Buffy, Dawn, and Tara chuckled lightly at Xander’s stupidity. Xander pouted and frowned.

Dawn, still chuckling, went over to Xander, “Aww,” she said, “We still love you Xander.” She pulled him into a hug, and was soon followed by everyone else until Xander was enveloped into a massive group hug. Xander’s resolve didn’t hold for more than a second before his face broke into a silly grin.

“Five beautiful girls hugging me,” he joked, his voice somewhat muffled by Dawn’s hair, “What is a guy to do?” Everyone just shook their heads and just as everyone was about to pull out of the group hug Buffy shouted, “Wait! Don’t move!” Everyone froze.

Buffy had somehow managed to worm her way out of the group hug, how, even she didn’t know, and went over to a random guy walking past and handed them Xander’s camera, which she had pulled out of her pocket. “Could you take a quick picture?” she asked. They guy nodded and took the camera. Buffy raced back over to the group and joined in once again.

They all grinned for the picture.

Flash. Click.

The group broke apart and Buffy walked over to the guy and took the camera that was handed back to her. “Thanks.” They guy nodded, smiling politely, before he went back on his way.

Buffy pocketed Xander’s camera before they headed towards a lemonade stand to get some water.

After collecting their water, they made their way over to two benches and Xander and Anya claimed one, while Dawn and Buffy got the other. That left Willow and Tara standing nearby.

Willow sighed and leaned against Tara. “This is such a perfect day.” Tara grinned and nodded.

“Cheers.” Tara held up her plastic cup and bumped it against Willow’s.

Willow grinned. “Cheers.” They drank and giggled at their silliness.

“But your right,” Tara said, “This is the perfect day.”

Willow grinned, “The sun is shining, there are songs going on –” she referred to the dances going on at the stage near where they were sitting. Her eyes fell to 2 guys who had just walked past and looked her girlfriend up and down. “ – those guys are checking you out.”

Tara’s eyes widened and she turned and looked at the guys. “What? Wh-What are they looking at?

Willow rolled her eyes, “The hotness of you, doofus.”

Tara looked at her girlfriend incredulously, “Those boys really though I was hot?”

“Entirely!”

Tara’s eyes lit up and a mischievous smirk reached her lips, “Oh my God! I’m cured! I want the boys!” she made a move as if she was going to go after them and Willow grabbed her free hand and pulled her back. Tara laughed.

“Do I have to fight to keep you?” Willow asked playfully, “Cause I’m not large with the butch.”

Tara’s eyes sparkled, “You sure about that?”

Willow’s ears went pink and she didn’t answer.

Anya, who had overheard the conversation snorted indignantly. “Not large with the butch! Ha! I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who’s larger with the butch than you!” Anya smirked, “Mind you I’ve been around, and I’ve seen a few butch people…and believe you me, you overshadow all of them!” Anya thought for a moment, “Well, actually there may be one person.”

Willow waited for her to continue but she didn’t. She looked at Tara and murmured, “Okay, I’m biting.” She turned to Anya, “Who?”

Anya looked at her and plainly stated, “Xena of course.”

Every single one of the remaining Scoobies eyes shot wide open.

“In over eleven hundred years I’ve never met anyone so overprotective as her!”

Xander’s mouth opened and closed, as if he wanted to say something, but just couldn’t get the words out.

After a minute he recuperated. “Xena? As in Xena: Warrior Princess and her sidekick Gabriel? That Xena?”

“None other.” Anya stated plainly.

“You mean that’s real? All that stuff actually happened?” Tara asked, her eyes getting wider by the second.

“Well not exactly, I mean, they botched the entire story line. The Xena and Gabriel I knew couldn’t keep their hands off each other!” She rolled her eyes. “And don’t even get me started on that whole Eve thing! Puh-lease! That was Gabriel’s baby all the way!”

If it was possible, everyone’s eyes got even wider than they originally were.

“I’m confused.” Xander said, holding out his hands. “Two chicks had a baby? That’s not possible…is it?”

“It’s totally possible,” Anya said plainly, not batting an eyelash. “Mind you, I’m not going to say how they did it, it was this whole big mess with Artimis and –”

Dawn’s eyes looked like they were going to explode out of her skull if Anya continued so Buffy did the only thing she could to stop Anya from talking further. She took her almost completely filled cup of ice water and flung it at Anya. It hit her in the face full-force and she jumped about 3 feet in the air and let out a long, high-pitched squeal. Anya yanked her drink up from the bench and took off after Buffy, her ice water in her hand. Anya chucked her cup at Buffy, but with her quick Slayer reflexes it missed her by about 4 feet. Buffy doubled up at Anya’s feeble attempt to get her back and she didn’t see when Anya stole Xander’s cup and ran over to her. She did, however, feel the icy chill run all over her head and back. She let out a high-pitched squeal that could have rivaled Anya’s before she raced after Anya who had hidden behind Xander. Dawn took one last sip of her water before flinging it at both Buffy and Anya, hoping to get both of them. She, of course, missed and hit Xander full in the face. Xander shook water out of his eyes before taking off after Dawn.

Willow and Tara stood out of the way, watching the exchange. Tara grinned and pulled Willow to her with her left hand, her water hidden behind Willow’s back in her right hand. Willow knew exactly what Tara had planned but played along. Before Tara had a chance to dump her water on her Willow reached up and pulled Tara into an extremely fervent kiss that made Tara forget where she was, much less about the water in her hand. She dropped her water to the floor and didn’t notice as it soaked both her and Willow’s feet as she cupped Willow’s face and deepened the kiss. Willow smiled into the kiss and, with much difficulty, yanked her face and arms away from her lover and dumped her cup of water all over Tara’s face and front. It completely drenched her. She simply stood there, shocked before wiping the water out of her eyes and laughing.

“No you didn’t!”

Willow smirked, “Oh yes I did!”

“You evil little -!” she broke off and ran towards Willow with all the intent of paying her back.

Willow ran and shouted over her shoulder, “That’s what you get when you try to cross Willow Rosenberg!” Willow eventually slowed down and Tara caught up to her. Tara wrapped her arms around her girlfriend so that Willow was trapped in between her arms. Tara then poked at her sides and Willow wriggled and twisted, trying to get loose from her girlfriend’s clutches, though, in reality the last place she wanted to be was out of Tara’s arms. The tickling went on for a few more moments, all the while Willow laughed and wriggled and gasped for air.

Flash. Click.

Their tickle fest was interrupted when a flash blurred their vision, intentionally letting them know that a picture had been taken. Even before they looked up they knew that they would see a smirking Buffy, waving a camera in front of their faces, like she did every time she took a picture. They looked up and their suspicions were confirmed.

Buffy smiled, pocketed Xander’s camera, and trotted back to a laughing couple who were completely drenched, and to her annoying but oh-so-lovable sister, to whom didn’t have a drop of water on her.

“How did I know that was going to happen?” Willow asked as Tara reluctantly released her.

“Lucky guess.” Tara joked.

Willow grinned and they walked back to their friends.

TBC…
