Title : A Country Kinda Girl.

Author : Tawilove (Julie)

E-mail : tawilove@yahoo.fr

Feedback : Yes please, i really want to know your opinion, though please be gentle it’s my first attempt at a fic.

Spoilers : This is totally AU but there will probably be some quotes or references from the show till end of season 6.

Rating : I don’t know really but let’s say PG-13 for a start (if my rating is incorect please feel free to let me know), change in the rating will be signaled when occur.

Disclaimer : All characters belong to Joss Whedon and ME .....except for the ones i created, i won’t be naming them all, it would be too long and i’m kinda lazy! But you’ll have no problem spotting them ‘cause they never were on the show.

Summary : In this story there’s no Magic, no Demons, no Slayer, just the plain old reality! But there’s also Love and Romance so don’t run away! :heart Willow is a computer specialist (i know, i know, how original!!!) and Tara is an english teacher. Willow has to go away from NY, where she has a great job as a computer consultant, because her life is in danger.

Note 1 : The prologue is totally Willow centric (about that, for you not to be too surprised i want to confirm that this part is indeed about Willow, she’s not named Willow at the beginning though but through the reading you’ll quickly understand why), and don’t worry cause Tara is in part one !

This is a middle Angst story, there’ll be some cliffhangers but i’ll warn beforehand! :devil

Note 2 : I am not a professional writer and English is not my mother language so pardon me for any misspelling or grammatical errors! I didn’t research thoroughly about every subject I broach in this story so if you want me to correct something that seems incoherent or misplaced to you, let me know!

Note 3 : I’ve been away from this board for quite a while, for personal reasons and majorly lack of time! I’m back here with a fic that is not yet complete but that I firmly intend to complete don’t worry, the thing is that I won’t be able to update as often as I would like (still a lot of work), so that you know.

And here goes the show!! :letter

Prologue

New York, what a big change in her life! Well not only because it was such a huge city with people buzzing around like a frantic hive, but also because she was finally taking her life in her own hands. Yes she missed Sunnydale (as odd as it could seem), and of course she missed her family and friends, well more the poor excuse for family and friends she had there!

Her parents were never really home and of course she had grown use to it, but being thousands of miles away from them wasn't as easy as she had first thought. Anyway she was sure that she made a good choice coming here, she needed to find her way, to become truly independant.

Being independant was not like what she imagined when she was younger, she thought that living, well maybe more surviving on her own, as she did growing up, was showing a great sign of independance. But now she knew better, yes her parents where pratically never there, but they had a big influence on her life (too big for her taste), specially her mother, she had the incredible capacity of making her feel so miserable and useless, it was truly amazing! Her friends were no big help either on the "independance departement", she felt like she belonged to them and that they felt it was the most natural thing in the world. They needed her help all the time, but she was the one really dependant on them, she needed them or she'd be all alone, a social outcast, a highschool computer nerd only good to help you get a higher grade.

No really! this was the best idea she had in her lifetime, leaving home, leaving her past, beginning a new life.

She had no big problems to find a job, she had obtained a master in computer engineering at 24 with the highest grades and was even recomanded by some of her professors. So six months ago she arrived here the heart full of hopes and the head full of dreams, finally on her own, facing life and the noisey jungle of NY. Things were going great at her job, people were nice, most of them quite young and dynamic, she felt boosted, she felt free.

Well till last week anyway!

What happened last week, on Thursday, at 8:15 p.m. to be more precise, in this dark alley two blocks from her appartement, changed her life in an instant, in a flash, in the jolting light of a gun shot!

Why did she leave the office so late, she couldn't quite remember anymore, but now she regretted immensly her 'work-sucker' attitude. If she had just left 15 minutes earlier, everything would be ok by now, but no, no luck for her!

"Miss Newman, would you follow me please", a young man not much older than herself showed her the way through a long, grim corridor. They arrived in front of a quite imposant door labelled as room 314, he gently knocked and was answered by a rather loud "come in". The redhead felt a shiver down her spine, she dreaded not to be able to stay calm considering the circumstances, she didn't want to appear like a panicked little girl even though she felt like one in this right moment.

"Hello Miss Newman, how are you today" intoned Rowan O'Brian, with a deep, yet rather soothing voice. He was the chief of the Witness Protection Program from the FBI New York team. On his early forties, he was tall and very alluring, like James Bond she thought.

"Well i'm trying not to be utterly afraid and frankly, it's not working very well, i must be using the wrong mantra" wincing at her own attempt at a joke, the redhead sat down in front of him.

"Now, now, where's your positive side" he smiled softly at her, trying to lighten a bit the gravity of the situation.

"I think it flew away when a mafia gang decided i would be very well six feet under" she was sarcastic, she knew it, but she had the right to be after all, SHE was the one to be threaten of death by a group of sadistic killers.

When she heard a commotion at the corner of the street, that night, only 5 minutes away from her building, she thought about passing by without paying attention, but she couldn't, what if there was someone needing help, what if she was their only hope for a rescue. So she went a bit further down her path looking intendly in the imperfect halo of a flickering street light, and she saw them, in this alley, like a group of demons that had just risen from hell. Three men standing above the curled up figure of a forth one whining like a little boy, begin them to spare his life. She was frozen on the spot, she couldn't move or even say a word, she was petrified by fear.

Then she saw it, twinkling under the light, and she heard it, shooting a deadly thunder like a scream of hatred peircing the night They shot him, oh my God, they shot him, it was reasoning in her head like a never ending loop. She unconsciously started to back away from where she was standing, bumping in the process in a dustbin she didn't notice was there.

Then she saw him, he turned his face towards her and under the shivering light, he was handsom, maybe in his late twenties, he had the features of an angel, but his eyes betrayed the darkness of his soul, cruel and empty, he had the devil inside. She nearly laughed at this paradox, but she felt the panic rise in her like a geyser of emotions, here she was, unable to move, in front of a monster rising slowly his gun in her direction. What kind of strenght she found in her at that moment, she will always wonder, but it was enough for her to react, and start to run away.

She heard the bang of a gunshot and felt like a speeding wind passing her by as the bullet missed her for only a few inches. She didn't ponder much, she couldn't afford this luxury so she ran as fast as she could and as far away from this nightmare as her legs could bring her.

She could feel them running behind her and they were gaining on her, she thought she was done, noone would help, this was not a movie, there was no super hero coming at the last minute to save the poor innocent girl.

Lights…., red and blue, blinking at her furiously, in front of her a few hundreds feet away,…. policemen…., no it couldn't be true, she was dreaming, it was a mirage in the desert! Run faster Newman, run faster, you can make it, these words stammered in her head like the crazy rythme of her heart, they were there, her heros, standing in the middle of the pavement trying to contain what seemed like a fight, she was safe at last!

"Are you alright" the voice of Agent O'Brian woke her from her revery.

"I'm fine thanks, just……. thinking about that night"

"You were lucky" he said, and she looked at him with a raised eyebrow, silently questioning his definition of luck. "You know what i meant" he answered apologetically, "if those cops wouldn't have been there, i fear that you….." he couldn't end his sentence.

"I would have been killed" he didn't know what to say, "I know it's true so spare me your 'it's- not-what-i-wanted-to-say'."

"Anyway, Sarah" it was the first time that he used her first name, she was surprised but please by this mark of sympathy, "I asked for you to come here today cause we should be discussing of a safer place for you to stay at".

"What's the problem with the one i'm actually staying at?"

"No direct problem with the place itself, but more of a internal problem" a tinge of worry filled his voice and that went not unnoticied to the young hacker.

"What do you mean by internal problem, there's a problem with the program, it's not safe anymore?" she was clever he thought with a sad smile.

"Well, i should be totally honest with you, we are fearing that one or maybe more members of this mafia gang could have infiltrate our NY team, spying as 'moles' in the system"

She was taken aback, she didn't expect that at all, "but how, how is this possible, i mean, you're the FBI, secret agents, super trained team of cloned american James Bond, how could a bad guy get into your team without you being able to know it, it's not possible….i don't….no… " her voice was getting lower, her babble lost in the silence of her confusion.

"The situation is indeed confusing but you know we're not perfect and this gang has some very high contacts through the politcal net here."

"Why am i not surprised by this last statement?" she muttered to herself.

"The good news is that we already have some suspects on tail, the bad news is as long as we don't find them all and put them in jail you're in danger" his angst for the redhead security was audible.

"So what do you suggest, if noone is to be trusted and nowhere is safe, what should i do?"

"Trust me!" was the only answer he could give her.

"And how do i know you're not one of these 'moles'" she asked looking straigt in his eyes seeking for the truth.

"Cause if i was, you would already be dead", she felt a shiver through her whole body, at the sound of these words. "Believe me, i'm here to protect you, and if i really was one of them, why would i bother telling you about them and the danger you're in, i should have better let you fall into their hands, i would have had not the slightest interest into warning you" he sounded truly honest and she saw in his eyes a real concern for her.

"Ok then, what do you want to do, where should i go?"

"I know a place, nobody knows about but me in the agency, i won't talk about it here, it's not safe, we better get going it's a long way from here."

"What?" Sarah was in panic mode "we can't go now, i mean i didn't pack my things and i need to tell my boss i'm going away, and, and…." he silenced her by raising his hand in front of her.

"Don't panic, we will buy you what you need on the road and i already informed your boss of your departure, you have to leave everything behind and no looking back, untill they are all arrested and the trial takes place, you will be someone else. Oh and you'll have to change your name, you can choose it by the way! So let's go, we need to hurry". She stood silent looking at him with an expression akin to the one of a KO boxer. He opened the door for her to go and they went away from this building, from this town, from this state, feeling the dread of danger and the excitement of adventure.

I hope you enjoyed, let me know if you want more :blush

Part One-A: A New Beginning

Utha?…, what the hell am i doing in Utah?…, the redhead thought as they just passed by the sign that welcomed them into this State. He had said they would go far from New York but she had never expected that far! They drove nearly without a break from there, well appart from the necessary ones, she had slept for so many hours that she didn't realize they were already here.

"May i ask for our final destination or do you intend on driving till we reach Ushuaïa?" muttered the redhead slowly awakening from her slumber.

"Ushu-what?" questioned agent O'Brian slightly dazed from his driving hours.

"Ushuaïa,… 'the land of the End of the World'…., you know the last bit of land in Patagonia at the south of Argentina, ….. before we drop into the ocean!" she stressed mischeviously.

"Oh that" he was smiling at Sarah's perky mind, even after all the driving and the events of the last days she was still up for a little teasing. "We need a few more hours, and we will be there, at last!" he sounded exhausted.

"Let's stop at the next café we find on the road, so we could have a breakfast and rest a bit, then i can take the next driving shift. What do ya think"

"Good idea, i really need to stop or my fingers will not be able to unclutch the wheel, at all !" he replied chuckling a bit.

Twenty minutes later they found a little restaurant on the road side. It was small and quite empty but it seemed clean, and frankly they were in a big need of a rest, so they wouldn't complain about anything. They ordered coffee and muffins and sat down near a big window.

The weather was nice, blue sky and middly cool air, the view was beautiful from here, they could see the mountains in the horizon and the landscape was getting a bit greener.

They stayed silent through the meal enjoying the quiet peace of the place.

Finally O'Brian broke the silence, "nice name you chose, quite original indeed". They had stopped in Washington, to see an old friend of O'Brian that he 'trusted with his life' he had ensured the redhead. He had made all the necessary changes in Sarah's ID documents, for her to start a new life. "Rosenberg is a fairly classic last name, but the first name you chose is far from being conventional!"

"It's from my childhood" she smiled as all the souvenirs started to flow freely in her mind, "my Nana used to call me like that since a certain incident. You see my mother and i had always had what you could call a communication issue" she chuckled a bit at this understatement. "One summer, i think i was 10, i argued with my mother cause she wanted me to go for the next year to a boarding school rather far away from home and of course from my friends, that she thought were having a bad influence on me. At this time we were staying at my Nana's, a bit outside of Sunnydale. I was so upset that i decided to run away! I didn't go far, i lost myself in the woods, and they found me the next morning asleep under a big willow tree. My mother finally relented and didn't force me to go to that school, but since that day my Nana used to call me her little willow tree, or just Willow!"

"That's a nice story, i would say this name suits you well, you made a good choice"

"Thanks" she smiled softly, "something is bothering me though, how could we be totally sure nobody followed us, i mean there can't be any certitude" she was nervous, what if someone was lurking around waiting for her to be alone to attack.

"I can't tell you about certitudes, but i can ensure you that i was being overly cautious and that i checked all the time for an unwanted follower, we took the long ride, made so many twists and turns that i can't count them anymore, so relax, Ok!"

"Relax!" she laughed with a hint of sarcasm, "you really don't know who you're talking to"

A few hundred miles away, in the small town of Moab, a ring could be heard in the little highschool indicating the beginning of classes, teenagers were directing themselves to their designed classrooms in a happy buzzing.

"Hey Tara!" cheered a blond man in his late twenties, "how are you, did you have good holidays"

"Hi Kyle, i'm fine, i had great holidays" she replied with a smile "but i'm glad to start working again, i was missing the merry frenzy here" she added giggling softly.

Tara was happy, she had a wonderful job as an english teacher, she really loved working with those kids, she had a great family and some very good friends. Things could not be any better she thought well except maybe for my sentimental life, it's kind of a big desert actually.

Kyle was nice, a real gentleman, she realized he was interested in her some time ago, always trying to get closer. But even though she recognized that he had a lot going for him, relatively handsom, bright and gentle, she didn't like him this way. He was a colleague and a friend but nothing more.

She didn't want to hurt his feelings so she had decided, when she realized he had a crush on her, that she should just let it drop and do nothing to encourage him this way, and that with the time he would get the message and get over it. Well apparently the message didn't seem to be clear enough or he was more headstrong that she thought. What was with her that was preventing her from finding someone, from falling in love? There were a few nice guys around here who were inocently flirting with her, she had quite a choice at her disposition but still she wasn't attracted to any of them. Well i suppose the good one will come when i'll less expect it!

"You know there is this french movie 'Amelie' going on at the theater on wensday, i was thinking that ... well... if you'd like…., maybe… we could go together" he asked expectantly, shying away a bit.

"Oh! uh! well!, i kinda have a lot of w-w-work those days with the preparation of my new class and i f-f-feel nervous about t-t-this academic inspector coming to visit me in two w-w-weeks!" she answered meekly, congratulation Maclay, big coward, why don't you tell him what you think, "i'm sorry but i'm not intersted in going out with you", does that sound hard to say, no! so why don't you say it!!!!

"That's ok, uh,.. i mean.., i totally understand, maybe another time" he tried not to show too much of his disappointment, she smiled apologetically at him not knowing what to say.

They separated and went to their classes where the students were already installed chatting about their respective holidays stories.

"Turn here, on the left, we have nearly arrived, you see this board, 'Moab 20 miles', that's where we stop" O'Brian was relieved to see the end of their trip coming, not that he didn't enjoy Sarah's company…, no…. it was Willow now, he shouldn't let slip this kind of mistake, it was too important. So yes, he enjoyed Willow's company, but this had been a long way and he was utterly tired, in need of a good shower and sleep, oh god how he missed sleep!!!

"So i am going to live in a town call Moab, how strange is that, i think it's beating the strangeness of my name!"smiling a bit, she let out a long sigh, this was like the middle of nowhere, of course the landscape was amazing, but she didn't see herself as a country side kinda girl. She enjoyed the frantic lifestyle of NY, it was more corresponding to her speedy ways. She was always on a hyper drive, eating life with the eagerness of a child! Country life was slower and she hoped that she could adapt to it even though she doubted a bit right now.

"It's named after an isolated area mentioned in the Bible"

"Oh well, you know, don't ask me to much about Bible references, i read it once but i don't know it by heart" she answered quickly

"I don't know it by heart myself, i just read it on the touristic prospectus of the town" they both started to laugh whole heartedly releasing some of the tension they had built along the way.

Moab highschool building was also hosting the elementary school. The two schools were each in two seperate wings while the central part of the building was reserved for administration offices, as well as the teachers' room and the gymnasium. A seperate playgroung was build beside the west wing for the elementary school pupils. The school was in the center of the town and just across from it was a little park where the teenagers liked to spend time after classes, playing football, softball, chatting and sun bathing when summer time was there.

The day had been uneventful and the young girls and boys were rushing out of classes as some parents were waiting outside the west wing for the youngest ones.

"Tara?" a rather tall brunette teenager with piercing blue eyes peeked through the sightly open door of a classroom.

"Hey Dawnie, you can come in" the blond girl seemed cheery

"You sound pleased what's up big sis?" said Dawn while sitting partly on the teacher's desk

"One of my students, Steve, has been selected to participate to a state poetry contest this summer and he will go to Salt Lake City next week to present his work, he will be in competion with the best juniors of Utah, do you imagine! i'm so happy for him." the blonde looked excited, it was clear that she enjoyed her job very much. She was the most appreciated teacher of the school, her class even awarded her last year with a diplom of the "Best Teacher of Moab", she had been amused by the quirkiness of it but also deeply moved by this display of innocent affection.

Dawn smiled broadly at her sister, she was happy to be here in Moab with Tara and her family, sometimes it felt like it had always been this way, that they never knew hatred and violence. But now was not the time to exhume the past, she should simply enjoy the moment of happiness and let it invade her, wishing to get lost in it.

"Mama, Mama!!" intoned a little curly blond girl with green blue eyes, entering the room bouncing up and down she rushed into the waiting arms of Tara.

"What is it sweety?" the taller blonde was giggling at her daughter's excitement, while she scooped her up into her lap.

"I had the best mark of all the class, in math and drawing" she said puffing up her chest as pride was growing on her little angel's face.

"Oh that's wonderful Prue, i'm so proud of you, i will always be, you know that, right?" her eyes were gleaming with love

"Yes Mama" beamed the small blond, "cause the most important is not that i am the best but that i do my best and whatever the result, you'll always be proud of me" she stated echoing the words her mother already told her many times.

"Exactly sweety, i love you"

"I love you too mama"

Dawn's eyes were shinning with unshed tears, she was always amazed by the perfect interaction between her sister and her niece, there was so much love between them, she missed her mother. She was so young when she died, only 9, Tara was 16 at the time and of course got to know their mother for longer than Dawn did, she was not jaleous but just full of regrets. Now 8 years later Tara was a mother and she was an aunt, so many things had happened in between but all that was important to her now was in this room laughing, holding, loving.

Ahh, what a cute little set up. Utah though? hee. I wonder if the school will respond nicely to tara's sexuality, which we know will come into play once willow hits town!

I wonder what kind of job Willow will have in town!

So you got me all so excited after so many nice replies :banana :bounce

I'm taking advantage of the time i have today to reply to you all cause that won't be so evident on a regular basis!

RedIshtar : Funny how we crossed, i was posting the update while you were nicely giving me feeback :lol so thank you very much and i think that your questions are answered for now :D . Stay tune though cause more is to come in a couple of days:wave

allykat : Oh wow two messages already :applause :bounce :banana thank you soooooooo much :flower .I'm really glad you liked those two parts and i'll do my best to fufill your expectations

through my fic :heart

xita : It's really an honor :bow :bow to have feedback from you, and i'm glad you're the one asking the question i was expecting the most! Ok so here goes nothing...... I'm not american but i'm interested enough in your country to know that Utha isn't how to say it.....the best place to openly live in a same-sex relationship. So see i hesitated a long time before choosing this state. What made me decide to go for it is kinda hard to explain, let say that it fufilled my criterias for a lot of reasons, i wanted a place really wild and isolated, someplace opposite to where Willow saw herself living. I could have chosen somewhere in California or Arizona or Minnesota .... but I wanted a place from which i never heard of in a story. And I thought why, in a state where "morality":rolleyes and "bigotry" were a way to go, why then, shouldn't we have an oasis of tolerence, understanding and respect. So i picked a town, situated in a nice place, were nature was the master and i decided to make it a haven of love and tolerence!!!

Ok i know, i know i'm being a bit :lol idealistic here but i thought it would be nice to be so! Life is harsh enough, i wanna write happy stories to run away from what i know oh too well : hate and violence. Thanks for listening to my rant and thank you again for your feedback :heart

Hey there, I just wanted to say that I really like this story so far. In fact, 'like' isnt a strong enough word, I love it!

I see you've already answered all of my questions in your replies, apart from one which Im sure you'll answer in the near future. I love Tara's relationship with her daughter already, but who's the Father? Are we gonna have an angry ex on our hands when Tara inevitably meets Willow?

Ooh, cant wait for more!!

Please keep up the good work, and thanks for taking the time to share your story with us.

I am enjoying this story. I wonder how Tara will come into play when Willow gets to town. Very original with Willow being in the Witness Protection Program.

Tara: My heart doesn't stutter.

Tara: Willow, I got so lost.

Willow: I found you. I will always find you.

Cool update! :applause

Heh, I didn't have to wait long. :D

Can't wait for the girls to meet! Hey, doesn't Tara like girls yet? And Willow? :eyebrow

Tara's daughter is so cute!! I liked the way you described the bond between mother and daughter and Dawn's thoughts. By the way, someone needs to create a more original nickname for Dawn, Dawnie is just too obvious. How about Day Break? Willow could think a nickname up :rofl

Waiting for the next update! :banana

Heh, a daughter named 'Prue'... now why does that remind me of another TV series ?? :lol

Yeah Moab sounds like a way too quiet place for Willow, I wonder if she'll like it there enough to stay for a while. Being a computer-consultant she can of course work for anyone from anyplace, so thats not a problem :-). I hope she won't have nightmares for too long... :cry

Interesting to see that Tara might not have realised she likes girls. Don't see that very often. Too bad she hasn't found fullfilling love yet, though not to worry...look what came into town, heh.

Why would a gang in NY be so upset about Willow/Sarah witnessing them shooting someone ? It's not a very unique event or such :-) so why all the searching and troubles ? Important person got shot ?

Willow being nervous was very well described, her conversation with O'Brian was typical high-strung Willow all right :-). She needs some rest thats for sure, lets hope this town ain't too quiet for her.

Wow i'm overwhelmed by so many nice replies :bounce :applause :banana :dance . But i also want to thank the ones who read even if they don't give feedback, you're all great :kitty thank you sooooooo much :heart

Well before I go into personnal replies, i will be able to post an uptade this evening that is in 3 or 4 hours!!! my morning classes were canceled so yeah :banana it gave me more time to work, so update later :letter

So now into personnal replies :flower

BackgroundShot : Hey :wave another reply from you, wow i'm spoiled :D . I'm glad you like this Tara/Dawn interaction, I really wanted them to be sisters cause to me on the show that was pretty much like it!! Our girls will meet soon :wink

willowsgirl : Wow thank you these were wonderful compliments :blush :heart You left me speechless (and for me it's big :lol )! I'm really happy you enjoy the story so far :bounce and i hope you'll like what is to come :flower

As I wrote above, our girl will meet very soon but not in the next chapter, a little bit more set up is needed beforehand :letter . Well about Prue's father :devil I won't give you any hint even under torture :rofl , seriously :tara will give a "short version" of the "conception story" in a few chapters, then she will open up more about it, later in the fic. That's all i can say right now :fallen .

StrangeQuark : Why thank you very much :dance :heart , i'm glad you find my fic "refreshing" that's a really nice compliment and i promise to give my best to you kittens, because of course you deserve it a million times :love

TheRose24 : Thank you very much for your kind feedback :heart you won't have to wait long to know more about :willow and :tara 's reunion :wave

RedIshtar : Well let say you won't have to wait too long for my next installement either :D I understand that you're eager to see the girls meet, don't worry it's coming soon.

Quote:
Hey, doesn't Tara like girls yet? And Willow?

Well I know it's not so frequent to read a fic where none of them have yet acknowledged their attraction for girls, but i wanted it that way for two reasons:

First: I wanted to tell a story about to souls finally finding eachother devoid of any label !

Second: We all know how "canon" Willow has always been afraid of standing out of the crowd! All she wanted was to be accepted, to follow the "norm". You understand in these circumstances that she would reject this "gay part" of herself, so to speak!! And in my story (i'll write about it later in the fic) Tara was raised in a very bigot family, with a loving mother of course but still with the same "father" :puke . She was raised being told that homosexuality was a terrible sin, so she pushed it down inside too. In fact they will be eachother catalyser!:D

You're idea about Dawn nickname is really cool i'll try too make something up, and Willow will sure be helping :wink

Thanks again for the feedback :flower

sam darls : Me :bounce :bounce happy you like (that sounded a bit more cavernwoman than i thought :p but i'm sure you got it :blush ) Thank you for your reply and i wish you'll like the following parts :heart

Grimlock72 :Thank you so much for your feedback i greatly appreciate it :bounce :D

Well yes Prue hmm *cough* may be *cough* inspired *cough* by another show, well i said maybe :rofl :rofl

Yes it's a big big shock for our Willow to 'land' there but she is very resourceful and of course will find very quickly the positive side of the situation if you see what i mean :wink :lol

Quote:

You're right about it, love is coming into town for :tara and love is waiting into town for :willow so fear not i want them no harm just everlasting love :love :love

For the 'bad boys' plot you wont have to wait long to have some hints about it, but i'm still wondering if i will post it in the next update or in 2, you'll see!! :devil

The update will come soon stay tune kittens :read

Part One-B: A New Beginning

Willow and agent O'Brian had finally arrived in Moab and found two rooms in a small hotel in the central part of the town. They had agreed about meeting later for dinner, both of them needing to settle down and grab a shower. Willow was so exhausted that just after heading out of the bathroom she fell numb on the bed fast asleep.

A gentle knock started to find its way into Willow's sleepy mind, finally opening her eyes she realized that this was coming from her door. Tightening the belt around her robe she went to open the door finding the FBI agent smirking down at her.

"What a lovely robe you have here Miss Rosenberg, it matches perfectly the color of your eyes, but i doubt it would match the restaurant's policy" he chuckled mischeviously.

"Oh god, is it already 6:00, i think i fell like a log" she started to panic a little.

"No it's 8:00, i came to see if you were ready two hours ago, and i knocked a few times but you didn't answer so i went to check if you were already at the restaurant but it was not the case. The guy at the reception didn't see you coming down either so i suspected you fell asleep and i decided to come back later knowing you needed to rest, and here i am" he smiled finishing his long explaination, the redhead smiled thankfuly at him for letting her take a longer nap.

"It was very kind of you agent…" she was interupted by his hand raised in front of her

"Call me Rowan please, now that we know each other better i won't accept anymore to be called agent O'Brian" he pointed mock sternly,"plus noone should know who i really am, it would blow up our cover"

"It was very kind of you …Rowan" she had grown fond of the older man, he seemed a bit stiff and distant at first but spending time with him made her realize how gentle and friendly he was. She smiled saddly, he was all her father had never been for her and she was greatful to have him at her side.

"I'll tell you what. I go down there and book a table while you get dressed, and when you're ready join me!"

"Thank you, i'll be there in a few minutes"

"Take your time i'll be waiting" they smiled at each other and Willow closed the door, looking for an outfit as he went his own way.

At the same moment, a few miles outside of town on the road going to Pritchett Canyon, a family was sitting at the dinner table of 'Sunset Ranch', happily chatting about the events of the day. The 'Sunset Ranch' was owned by an old family of Moab, it was one of the first house built in this area when the town was raised. The actual owner of the ranch was Mrs.Elisabeth Crowford genuine descendant of the first inhabitants.

She was living here with one of her daughters, Joyce Summers and her daughter Buffy, as well as Joyce's husband. Joyce who became a widow rather early, married in a second wedding Rupert Giles, a medecine doctor who had arrived in America with his parents as a child after they left England for a better future.

A little more than five years ago the family grew wider as Dawn, Tara and her daughter Prudence came to live with them. Tara and Dawn were the children of Mrs Crowford's deceased daughter Susan.

This was a very united family bound together by love and respect, they were admired and greatly appreciated by their fellow citizens.

Mrs. Summers was the director of the elementary school, she was the one who encouraged Tara to study to become an english teacher. It had been hard at first cause Tara didn't want to leave her daughter and go to university, but Joyce helped her, finding a teaching program that could allow her to follow the same courses that the university students, via a correspondence system. Tara would recieve all the courses and the manuals by mail and would have to study them on her own with a possibility to communicate with an assigned teacher from the program. At the end of each semester she would go to Salt Lake City an take the exams as any other student. The formation also included some actual training as a teacher that she had accomplished in Moab's highschool through the semesters. This was not easy but this way she could stay at home with her daughter and family.

Buffy was only one year older than Tara, she was one of the sheriff’s assistants. She was considering Tara and Dawn as two sisters, eventhough they were cousins they were as close together as three sisters could be. She was also Prue ‘s Godmother and was delighted by this role. She was longing to start a family of her own, she wanted many children, now all that was missing was the father, but she had no doubt she would find him soon.

"How was your return to school Tara" Joyce was very proud of her niece who had accomplished so much in such a short period of time with so many responsabilities in her life beside her work, "i know it can be hard sometimes to come back to this environment after long holidays, specially as it's the first time for you" this year was only the second year of Tara's official teaching position and Joyce was caring for her niece's state of mind.

"Oh it was wonderful, everyone was so nice and my s-s-students were all glad to see me again" she was still amazed that people could possibly like her or find her interesting, most of her life she had been treated like an outcast or even worse, but everything had changed the day she arrived here, finally she was loved and respected, she was home.

"Who wouldn't like you my child" Elisabeth voiced lovingly

“You’re the best mama” the little blonde wiggled in her seat with excitment

"Yeah that's right, you're highly loveable" chirped Buffy with a beaming smile

"I second you on this one" Dawn went on cheerfully

"You're extremely caring and loving Tara, i would be surprised if everyone didn't like you so much" Giles affirmed in a gentle soothing tone looking at her with a reassuring smile.

"I'm really happy you like your work so much Tara and i never doubted that you were meant for teaching" Joyce was enthusiastic "anyway you can come and ask me anytime if you need help or even if you just need to talk"

"Thank you aunt Joyce" Tara smiled shyly, she was definitely the luckiest girl on earth she thought.

Willow didn't realize she was starving until she took her first mouthful of steak. She had arrived only a few minutes after Rowan who chose a table a little in the back, where they could speak unheard through the meal. The readhead ordered a steak with green salad and the agent opted for homemade lasagnas, a good red wine offered by the owner was completing nicely the dinner.

"Oh my Goooooddd ! I was soooooo hungry" sighed the hacker between two bites.

"I can see it" laughing lightly agent O'Brian poured them some more wine.

"Hey not having fun of the starving girl here" she scolded playfully "and by the way why is it that you're not as hungry as me, are you on a diet, cause if you are let me tell you that you don't need it, really, you look just fine for your age, uh…… i didn't mean that you're old, no i just meant that well seeing as you're not a teenager anymore, not that i am either but you see…"

A heartful laugh escaped the older man throat, "my goodness Willow! has anyone ever told you that you were the queen of babble" she felt a blush covering her face and was sure it matched perfectly the color of her hair "no i'm not on a diet and yes i'm quite old compared to you." He was amused and found this young woman more endearing everyday "when you were sleeping earlier, i came here and took a capuccino with some cookies, i was effectively hungry then, that's why i'm not anymore" he finished with a big smile.

"Oh ok!" was all she could mutter, she felt embarrased but pleased at the same time by this friendly banter. Then she proceeded finishing her dish at a slower pace enjoying the place and the company.

"Do you need anything else" asked the waiter some time later as he came to clear their table.

"Do you want anything Willow" she simply nodded "no" and he ordered a coffee. Silence settled between them when finally the agent spoke gently "tomorrow we should be up around eight, we have a meeting with this friend i told you about" she was curious cause he didn't say much about this mysterious friend and about the help he would provide her. "I called him earlier and he is impatient to meet you."

"Who is he? What will he do for us?" the gears in her head were working full force now

"He is a long time friend that i met through highschool and since then we've never lost contact, but i never talked about him around my coworkers and his name appears nowhere in my personal files, i always took care of that, so there's no danger anyone would guess we're here." he was sure of this and this was important, "he found you a job and a place to live, that's a good start!"

"Yeah it is" the readhead was thinking about all she had lost through this incredible adventure, her identity, her work, her 'oh-so-hardly-built-confidence', but also about what she would be finding in this new life, this was frightening and exciting at the same time.

You can destroy whatever you want / All she needs is to open her arms / To rebuild everything, to rebuild everything

Hey, this is looking pretty cool! Why the frilly heck was Willow involved with the Mafia? We'd better find out sooner or later, hint, hint.

Willow: Hey Buff. One more thing. Buffy: Yeah? Willow: I’m gay. Buffy: Okay, Will. Xander owes me ten bucks.

Oh yes, almost forgot; who's Prue's father ??

I wonder what job Willow is going to get. If this Giles is anything like the series, she might get work in a local library or something.. at least thats ordered :) . Will take some time to adjust to all those changes.

Now who dared to treat Tara like she was a worthless being ? Het stupid so-called familly ?? :rage . I hate it when people do that, should have not-so-nice discussion with that familly some day, heh. Good thing she with a real familly now, a place where she's appriciated.

Part Two: A country kinda girl

The next morning Willow and Rowan woke up relaxed from their sleep but still feeling a little sore from so many hours spent in the car. They ate their breakfast quickly and headed toward the location of their future encounter, taking in their new surroundings for the first time since they arrived. The two of them were so tired yesterday that they went directly to the hotel and didn't leave it before this morning. The streets were animated and a joyful ambience was slowly building itself as all the shops opened ready to wellcome customers.

"Where are we going exactly" inquired the redhead while her eyes roamed hungrily around collecting all the new images she could gather along the way. All her senses were magnified and ready to acknowledge her whole environment, she was excited and curious, worried and thirsty all into one.

"We're going to the Highschool" stated agent O'Brian

"The Highschool?" surprise entered her voice "i'm going to work in an highschool? God i'm going to work in Hell!" she was serious he thought suddenly a bit concerned.

"Uh well this is the only job i could find" he replied slightly mortified

"Relax i was joking,…. well quite" she chuckled lightly.

"Oh ok" he exhaled the breath he had been holding but a frown appeared on his face when he thought about her last words,…. well quite!? What does she mean, i hope i didn't make a mistake, maybe she'll hate the job, maybe she's not liking the fact that she'll be working with hormone-crazed teenagers, maybe……oh God i'm babbleling in my head now, i’m channeling Willow!

They walked in silence until they reached the old brick building, asking for direction to the janitor they slowly went up the stairs leading to the second floor. Finding the door they were looking for the agent knocked soundly.

"Please come in" hearing the invintation they both entered the office acknowledging a middle age man sitting at an imposing dark oak desk. He was smiling at them now standing up to greet them properly. "Rowan, it's so nice to see you again" both man shook hands warmly and hugged like only two old friends would do.

"Stephan! i'm glad to see you my friend" Willow looked in the agent's eyes and saw his soul bare naked for the first time since she met him, it was obvious that this man was a very close friend if Rowan was able to let himself be so open and unprotected in front of him.

"And this must be the young lady you told me about" Stephan Andersen was now turning his attention to the redhead "you didn't tell me she was so beautiful" he smiled kindly keeping his gaze on a blushing readhead. "My name is Stephan Andersen, i'm the principal of this honorable establishment" he extended his hand and shook the one she offered in return.

The agent smiled knowingly "you can't help yourself uh, still the same sweet talker" both of them laughed lightly as the young hacker turned another shade of red quickly matching the color of her hair.

"Please to meet you Mr Andersen, i'm Willow Rosenberg" releasing his hand she smiled shyly at him.

"So Willow, may i call you Willow?" when she nodded in the affirmative he went on "good, and by the way please call me Stephan! Did Rowan tell you about your future job here" before she could answer he followed "well i suppose not, that was a silly question" he chuckled a bit and added "he is all with the secret, professional deformation i presume" he smiled mischievously at his friend who groaned in protest wearing a mock shock expression on his face. "Anyway, Rowan told me that you were a computer whiz and it's just what we were desperatly looking for" she looked at him with a questioning glance "we need a computer science teacher, we opened this class three years ago but we only had one professional teacher since then, it was the first year and from the second year we had to ask some of our most talented students to replace him. The fact is that those kids are doing a great job but we can't go on like this, it's not a good solution for anyone."

"I understand your situation Mr. Ander…., Stephan" she was growing bolder now "but may i ask what happened to the first teacher, why didn't he stay here longer?" she was suddenly worried about his motivations to leave such a nice environment after just one year.

"Oh! unfortunatly he had a serious accident, he was going rock climbing for summer holidays and he fell from 10 meters high, his fall was soften by some little trees and bushes but still it was pretty bad. He broke both legs in several places and had a concussion, but fortunatly he survived and didn't stay in coma too long. I heard he's teaching again in Salt Lake City, all his family is there so that's good for him" he had a faraway expression and sadness could be seen clouding his eyes, slowly regaining his composure he went back to his desk.

"I'm sorry to hear that!" the redhead was upset, she didn't mean to bring back hurtful memories, it must have been quite a shock for the school she thought, but fortunatly he was still alive and able to work again, that was a good point.

"Thanks" Andersen sensed her gentle soul and was grateful for her genuine compassion. "but don't be sorry everything his fine now, plus we have a new teacher" it was sounding more hopeful than he had intented, now he silently prayed she would accept the position.

"To be totally honest with you, when Rowan told me about working here i was really hesitating, i know i don't have much choice considering my situation but still i wasn't what you could have called ecstatic. You see highschool has been a nightmare for me and eventhough i loved learning, reading, etc..i was more the kind of geeky nerd than the popular girl. And i can tell you life wasn't easy back then. But now i realize this is the past, the present is completely different i'll be on the other side of the desk teaching something i love, i'll be helping kids supporting them through the year, it's much more gratifying than anything i've done till now."

"Does that mean yes!" Principal Andersen was giddy with anticipation.

"Yes" she replied with a broad grin, contented by her own decision.

"Excellent, excellent!" a wave of relief washed over him "the year has just started but your class is only beginning next week, so this will give you enough time to prepare yourself i hope!"

"No problem" the hacker was excited now, she had so many things to think about, she was taking her life back under control, this felt nice.

"Uh! Stephan!" the principal turned to look at his long time friend "you told me that you found a lodging for Willow, is that still working?"

"Oh yes, it is, i've been talking to the owner again yesterday and she confirmed that the place was still available!" O'brian was glad, this was one less worry to have. "By the way her granddaughter, is a teacher here, i asked her if she could show you the school Willow, then after her classes she will take you to the ranch"

"The ranch?" the redhead was slightly concerned, didn't ranch mean horses?

"Yes, Sunset Ranch, it's about 15 minutes from the center of Moab, it's a beautiful place, they have a little house adjacent to the master house, it's small but more than enough for one person to live comfortably. The rent is very reasonable and the family is great, i'm sure you'll love the place" he was satisfied, everything was going well.

"Do-do they have horses there" she squeaked just a little

"Well i think so, but just a few, for family use only, Tara is a very good horse rider!"

"Who's Tara?" the redhead and O'Brian asked at the same time

"That would be me!" stated a blond girl who just appeared in the door frame.

The gang was gathered around a poker table in the back room of an ill famed bar, a dim yellow light was flickering from time to time giving away some of the men’s rough features. A very animated discussion was going on between two of them and the voices were inching higher every passing minutes. Suddenly an older looking man banged his fist hard on the table startling the group in the process.

"That's enough!" his drastic interruption sent shivers through their spines, he might have looked old and fragile but his cruelty and severity was known by all the 'bad boys' of the town. "We don't have time to waste in quarrels, we have to solve our problem now! Joey what are the news from Tony, did he find something?"

A fairely handsom blond guy in is mid thirties raised from his chair and started pacing back and forth in a slightly agitated way, his brow knitting with concern. "The problem, father, is that we have lost contact with Tony for almost 3 days now and i don't know if he was caught or if he's just keeping a low profile" Joey Manucci was young but already respected by most of his clan, right hand man of his father he was destined to lead the ‘clan’ when time would come, even if some distorsions among a group were always normal and this group of dangerous gangsters was no exception to the rule. A few members were in jail by now because of their implication in the murder of a NY city banker who was about to testify against them in an economico-political scandal case. Unfortunately one of them, a bookkeeper, had been more talkative than necessary and some big fishes of the clan had been arrested thanks to his collaboration with the FBI. But that wasn't the only problem, Angelo Manucci, leader of this gangster organisation, was walking on eggs, many of the documents given to the federal officers by the 'traitorous' bookkeeper implicated some of his closest associates, as well as some high polititian figures. He was free until the trial thanks to his armada of lawyers but knew that his position was very unconfortable, one wrong move and this would be the end. To add something else to this huge fiasco, his younger son Gabriel and his nephew Roberto were part of the men arrested for their participation in the banker’s murder. And all this incredible debacle was the act of a woman, a young redhead girl not much younger than his own son, she was the only witness, the source of all his sorrows and now she would have to pay. No matter if he shall fall in the process but she would have to pay.

"You have to try and contact him again i want to know where she is and i want to know it now!" Angelo was getting more and more angry, nothing was going the way he wanted.

"But what if the Feds found out who he was, what if he was out of the game, what should we do then?" Joey was worry, he didn't want to be the one to suffer his father's wrath.

"We still have a card up our sleeve, you know who i'm talking about son! don't you?"

"I know father but you didn't want to risk him until now!"

"Things have changed, we need to use all we have, he won't be useful anymore if we fail so let's use him before it's too late" his tone was stern and emotional at the same time, giving to the gang the bittersweet sensation of a programmed defeat.

"As you wish father, as you wish".

Everyone in the room turned at the sound of her voice. "Ah Tara you're here, i was just talking about your ranch to our new computer science teacher." Blinking a little at principal Andersen, the blonde took in the new arrivings, noticing that beside a tall middle age good looking man was standing a fiery redhead beauty of approximatly her age did i just think beauty? why not, she is indeed beautiful, gorgeous even,……wow stop here Maclay, what's gotten into you! I hope she is the teacher! She was suddenly interrupted in her day dreaming by Andersen's cheery voice.

"Rowan, Willow please meet Miss Tara Maclay" as O'Brian advanced first to shake the blonde's hand the principal followed his introduction "Tara this Rowan O'Brian an old and very good friend of mine"

"How do you do" asked politely the agent.

"Please to meet you" stated the blonde amiably. During this exchange of civilities, the redhead couldn't take her eyes of the blonde goddess in front of her, she saw her lips moving saying something to the agent but she couldn't make out any of her words, her mind was a blur wow i never thought angels could walk on earth, she's so beautiful and that smile, oh my god she's looking at me, please help me i feel my legs are going weak, ……what's up with you Newman, uh no Rosenberg, god i shouldn't make mistake even in my internal babble! that's crazy you don't like girls, remember Oz, yeah Oz! he was a boy, so how come i feel tingles under my skin when i look at her, i'm turning mad that's for sure…her mind babble was cut off short when Andersen reach out for her.

"Willow, Willow, are you with us" she really looks like she's on another planet he thought bemused.

"Uh! Yeah i'm here,….i'm here" caught up in her dreamy state she blushed lightly.

"Tara this is Willow Rosenberg our new teacher!" as the principal went on the girls silently shaked hands, both jerked away slightly at the contact as the touch sent an electrical jolt between them, but they didn't release hands, slowly looking up into each other's eyes surprise and understanding passed between blue and green. It seemed like an eternity, eventhough it might have only been seconds, before they finally drew back their hands smiling shyly at one another.
