Yeah,I saw it on comedy central several years ago.When it came out SNL was a definite no-no for me.



Chrissy and Martina were heated rivals on court,but I don't ever remember it spilling off the court.Course I was pretty young.



By the by.That is why I could never stand Hingis.She kept bad mouthing her compeitters.



When Jen beat her for her first Grand Slam,I was so happy. Jen had not only claimed a Grand slam title she beat Hingis.



I remember when Jen beat Matina the first time at the US open.I had mixed feelings.Happy for Jen.Sad for Martina.

Last year saw a very extensive interview on TV with Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert. I think it was part of a documentary on women´s tennis with a big part devoted to those two and their on and off court relationship. I recall Chris talking about how she and Martina were friends in the early years and then their friendship cooled off considerably for a while but things got better again and they remain good friends till this day and they always respected each other. The saturday night live thing was pretty funny, it wasn´t an insult to Martina, it just made great fun of their rivalry.

Did anyone see the match between Henin and Kuznetsova? Wow, some great tennis. I think it's been a while since someone rattled Henin so much, but she kept her composure well. I've really come to admire little Justine a lot. Of course if she ends up coming up against Lindsay in the final I won't know who to cheer for!

Mauresmo beat Henin, yay! I hope she wins the finals tomorrow. I saw most of the match today and Mauresmo looked good! I hope she stays healthy throughout the french open coming up.

I know it's not until June, but I can't wait for Wimbledon! 12 hours a day tennis on tv - heavenly! I'm thinking that I'll be taking some time off work around then, to get the benefit of the tennis marathon.



There really should be a dedicated tennis tv channel, in my opinion. I was watching a tennis match on a sports channel the other week on tv and they cut it to go to motorbike racing - how boring!

Sorry for the double post but wanted to bump the thread now that the French Open is on. I got to see a bit of it last night. Capriati against a Ukrainian Beygelzimer (which I, probably incorrectly, was pronouncing bagelzimmer). Jennifer really had to battle hard to beat her and it was a very enjoyable match.



Pitty Navratilova got knocked out. Mauresmo is currently 6-0 4-5 - I really hope she can get through.

That's good it makes me happy! I like Justine but she was in the same draw as mauresmo. Tis better this way! It's hard for Amelie with all the pressure of winning in France but I hope she can do it. She's won 2 tournaments coming into this.

No real surprises in the women's tennis yesterday. Although, Serena dropped the first set in her match, which is most unusual.



Amelie is playing today against a Spaniard - Santonja. I really hope she wins!

Lindsay is out! You know these russian girls.. I am getting them all confused but dementieva needs to get a better serve. I think Mauresmo will take care of her. And the new Anna Kornikova, Sharapova is actually very good. She's got great strokes, not just a pretty girl like Anna. I think she could be the next big thing.

Some good matches on today. Capriati -v- Serena should be good. I imagine Serena will win, but Jennifer will fight all the way I'm sure. Amelie should be the victor against Dementieva, who, imo, has struggled to get this far. I know she beat Davenport, but would not have done had Lindsay not made so many errors and had such positively uncharacteristic bad service too.



e.t.a. Jennifer beat Serena, and Venus has just lost her match against Myskina. This could well be Amelie's year if she can win her match!

Well, I am going to be rooting for Capriati now, though I like that Russian girl as well.

I, too, was disappointed Amelie didn't win her match; she had such a great opportunity to win the whole thing. I've always liked Capriati, so I'm going to cheer her on for the title now.

This thread needs a push because, oh yes,...... WIMBLEDON starts tomorrow! With the 2 Belgian ladies not participating due to injuries/illness. That's a bummer (I am so not a Williams-sisters fan) but hopefully we get to see some fire from the Russian camp and of course.....Mauresmo! Although, realistically speaking I don't think she can pull it off. All this sounds slightly negative, I'm aware of that but who knows, maybe some dark horse will appear and blows the whole thing wide open. I for one will enjoy my 14 days of tennis-bliss no matter what!



e.t.a.: Yeay: Navratilova won her opening match in the singles! For the first time in 10 years time she's competing in the singles again. Convincing score as well...... Happy now.

Ooooh she won? Dude, that rocks. I totally forgot that it had started. Thanks for the reminder. It seems that the top players are taking their turns being injured, first the Williamses, then Mauresmo, then the Belgian women, I guess the Russian women are next. It would be nice if they could all be fit at the same time for a grand slam, especially for Wimbledon.

I wasn't in work yesterday so happily sat down to watch Wimbledon, only to find there was a rain delay. Ah well.



Saw a replay of Venus' performance against that poor Swiss girl who tried her best. Venus seems to be in great form. Some of her serves were spectacular - I think she had two that were 122mph!

I'm all excited! Wimbledon and Euro 2004 are on at the same time, two of my favourite sports, and i'm not at uni for the next two and a half weeks so i'll have plenty of time to watch it all. I'm happy Serena(not sure i've spelt it correct)Williams is through, never a doubt in my mind. Both sisters are excellent players, always a pleasure to watch. Henman made it through, HURRAY!!, not sure how long he will last. He has a habbit of playing well then stopping, then losing, silly man. Hope he plays better next game.

Sisters Williams are back full force. Both of them played amazingly well, superbe. (like before they got injured).

Who's going to stop them from reaching the finals now that the Belgium girls can not participate in the tournament?

Best wishes to the living tennis legend, the most fantastic tennis player I've ever seen, Martina Navratilova. Just hoping she gets as far as she can. I'll never get tired of seeing her moves in court.
