:lol

I called my local Barnes and Noble to see if they had this mag. They do. :)

Here's the funny part, or... cool part, which ever you percieve it as.

Before I got off the phone with the guy at the store, he goes: "Oh and by the way, that's a good magazine." Hee...

Part of me wonders if he was being honest, or just trying too hard to be nice about the whole lesbian thing. What do you guys think? Either way... I thought it was very cool.

I so can't wait to get my hands on this magazine. :grin

Is it just me, or does the cover not really look like Amber? Or is it because she's thinner, that it doesn't really look like her? :hmm

Re: Curve Magazine Article

Postby Rosenberg » Thu Oct 16, 2003 8:13 pm

I actually found a couple of copies of the magazine at a newsstand in South Dakota, of all places. I mean, that’s not the first place that comes to my mind when I think of locations to buy a lesbian magazine. After seeing the photo scans, I just had to get my hands on a copy of this issue; I guess it’s a tactile thing. Anyway, Amber looks absolutely gorgeous in glossy color, so if there are any South Dakota kittens out there, your opportunity to buy this magazine is now here.

Got my copy today (hard to keep myself from buying every single copy of it... :heart ). What a great interview! I hope lots of people go to the website and order Chance. The more, the better! :)

Jennpurr ~

Yeah, I was a bit surprised by the pictures as well. Not so much with the cover photo but the one with the brown jacket. Not that she doesn't look great or anything like that. It just surprised me a bit. It could also be the type of makeup she's wearing as well.

Jenn & liquid: yeah, my friend said the same thing....something about her looking different. I thought that amber did look kinda different...like she looked older, really professional and kinda serious in the pictures....i like them, they show a different facet of her that we don't see in the usual magazine shots :)

:bounce

Well, I went and got my mag today. I went up to the counter and told the man that I had called last night and the guy I spoke too said he would hold the mag for me.

:shock The guy at the counter said, "That's weird. We usually don't hold magazines." :shock

I thought that was both weird that the guy last night DID hold it and that they usually don't. Still puzzled as to why he did then. :hmm

Anyway...

Amber looks gorgeous! :heart I love that woman. The only picture I didn't like very much was the cover. She's beautiful, don't get me wrong... it just doesn't really look like her. :(

I'm not complaining though.

God, what a class act she is...and very diplomatic, I might add.

I'll be very curious to see if she has anything further to say in November's BtVS Magazine "Willow" issue, that is supposed to have interviews with both she and Alyson. Could be very interesting.

Today I actually went and bought the magazine and, may I say, the pictures of Amber are beautiful!!! She looks absolutely STUNNING!!!!!

It also sounds like she's keeping busy career wise which I am very happy about. She is an amazing human being and deserves nothing but the best.

sfgo2003: I previously posted this in the General Amber and Aly tidbit thread but the Willow-centric November 2003 issue of the UK Official Buffy Magazine is already on sale here and there is no Amber interview in it. :( But perhaps the US edition of the magazine has a slightly different content and may contain one?

Edited to add: There is no new interview with Aly in the magazine either - just the comments that she made at the Buffy Wrap Party that have already been reported elsewhere.

Amber looks gorgeous in all of the pictures. :drool

She makes my heart flutter. :blush

I went and bought it right on the spot and I thanked heaven that I had money.

:shock Oh I'm sorry was I staring???? Who can blame me when she looks so darn sexy.

A couple of people have said she looks different, I think she does too. I think it is because I am so used to seeing her smile (what a gorgeous smile it is too!!). But with these she has the whole serious, almost pouty thing going on. And the one where she looks serious but has a hint and I mean the tiniest hint of her famous half grin - WOW :drool :thud :fallen

I also think she looks very relaxed about the whole thing, probably something to do with the fact her sis took the pics????

I still haven't got the mag and I'm not sure if I will because actually having those pics in my hot little hands could be hazardous to my health.

Such is the radiance and beauty wielded by Amber, reflected and enhanced by her sister Danielle's exquisite photography, that it compels straight men, such as myself, to purchase lesbian magazines from their local Barnes and Noble.

As has been mentioned before, there is something comfortingly tactile about holding the magazine in one's hands and gazing rapturously at the photos of our fair Amber.

My favourite is still the one where her long brown hair twines around her neck and across her shoulder like a spiral staircase.

I did do the Woody Allen bit and buy a couple of other magazines to balance out Curve but fortunately the clerk didn't get on the P.A. System and announce they needed a price check on "America's most popular lesbian magazine" to the entire store, as the person did with the porn mags in that classic Woody Allen bit from his early stand-up days.

Amber as a selling point

Hello Kittens-

My Borders had one lone copy left this afternoon. Does anyone know if this is an unusually well selling issue of Curve?

Postby emma peel » Fri Oct 24, 2003 5:39 pm

jixer, if any other kittens are like me they are buying at least two copies. I bought 4 at Borders, then purchased two more at my work when I saw we carried Curve, then purchased three more spontaneously at work. I sent two to a friend, along with a VHS copy of Chance, for a birthday present. I plan on keeping the other copies for myself just because it seems like a good idea. :lol

So, maybe this is an unusually well selling issue of Curve.

I see someone has already started auctioning it off on eBay-:puke , which is something I personally wouldn't do.

not sure i understand what is wrong with auctioning it on ebay -- perhaps some folks who don't have outlets near them that carry curve would like to find a copy of this and ebay is where they will find it ...

When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of Truth and Love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it, always.

molsongrrrl, point well taken when you write:

perhaps some folks who don't have outlets near them that carry curve would like to find a copy of this and ebay is where they will find it ...

-----------------------------------------

Sometimes I forget that some folks don't have access to all the Amber internet info that I do, and I sometimes forget that eBay isn't just about sellers making bucks from a buyer. I should know 'cause I've purchased much non-Amber stuff from eBay that I couldn't find available elsewhere.

Thanks for that perspective, molsongrrrl. :)

Postby Iamyouknowyours » Fri Oct 24, 2003 8:26 pm

Ok, I snagged three copies from Tower (and seriously considered buying the other remaining copy as well, but then again I figured I had already taken every Curve within a twenty mile radius, so....) Shinnen, Willow's Girl and Intricate Marriage give me an email at eltonsgod@aol.com and let me know where to send them. I will do my best to get them mailed out over the next week or so.

Rats, now I'm thinking of going back and buying the other copy for another Amber loving friend of mine. I am going to buy out all the copies!

Maybe your inbox is full or something? I'm not sure, but do let me know if there's another way I could send you the shipping details. Thanks.

If not be sure to post again and we'll figure out another way. Maybe through AOL instant messenger or something if you have a screenname? One way or another I'll get the magazine to you.

Web Warlock: Yep. Get them while they are hot. Just a week ago there was a big stack and now it's down to three at my local Borders.

Took it up to the counter and the women behind the counter said "you have a wide range of taste in magazines". Guess not everyone buys Curve and Modelers Resource. I told her I was a renaissance kinda person. BTW the check out the link to Modelers Resource for a look at a wild cover.

ETA: Flipped thru it and Amber interview notwithstanding, I must agree with Xita's assessment "cause eh curve, yuck". It's nice to have the Amber pix but I don't think I will pick up Curve again.
