Xita, I totally agree with you about how lame it is and how little we see of Kerry and Sandy's relationship.

Especially as in the same episode, we get lots of talk between Carter and Abby about him becoming a father and his new relationship with the aid worker from Africa. He even goes on a tour of the delivery suites.!!

Then as a little aside Sandy pops out a baby!!

I would loved to have seen some of the details that led to her changing her mind about being pregnant, but i suppose that would of meant that TPTB would have to treat their relationship like a real deal not as an afterthought.

It figures that I miss ER when this happens! I had no idea Sandy had a baby. And I still wouldn't know for all the mention they've made of it on the show. :sigh

No one seems all stirred up about that bizarro helicopter thing. ER likes to get crazy for sweeps.

Anyone else wondering if Thandie Newton will be making more of an appearance on the show?

I watched Romano die in that helicopter accident and that's the best thing I've ever seen on ER! Laughed so hard.

Did they kill Romano? Was that when his arm was chopped off? I have not seen that yet, we are still waiting for the next season (don't know which, I lost count as there are so many) to start here. I am watching the reruns they air every day. Yesterday I watched the episode in which the ever sanctimonious holier than thou Mark Green tramples all over common decency and Jeanie Boulet's rights and privacy. I hate him, hate him with a passion, but it was good to watch Kerry Weaver back when she had a spine, she has principles, a good heart and she is a far more competent doctor than Green could ever hope to be. It was also nice to see Dr Keaton again, the pediatric surgeon, she is so lovely, why didn't they keep her instead of that holier than Mark Green even Benton.

No Garfield, this was another helicopter :rofl The look on his face, priceless. The best thing, no one noticed he was missing.

Ok spoil me! So to recap, first a helicopter chops off one of his arms (I am really curious to see how he managed that) and now he gets into a helicopter why? So what happened? You say the look on his face, did he fall out of the thing? Did it shop off his other arm?

Well, I must say I missed the arm chop a way back. I can tell you about the death. So he goes up to the roof and he's supposed to hand the helicopter people some meds or something, but he can't do it. He starts having flashbacks about the arm chop. So he gives it to another doctor and rushes downstairs. He goes all the way outside and is hyperventilating. He's really stressed. Meantime, the helicopter on the roof starts having problems with the wind and really can't take off. So it starts to crash. It's spinning out of control and stars to tip over the roof to a freefall down. So then shits starts falling around romano... and he looks up and here comes the helicopter. And he looks at it, can't believe it right on top of him, he's yelling .."no , no, NOO" :rofl and then splat. And you know all these injuries. Everyone is worried about someone, making sure everyone is safe. The thing calms down, the firefighters are trying to lift the helicopter wreck and still no one has noticed romano is missing. :lol And that's how it ended.

Road Runner is exactly right!

It was so over the top and crazy!

I loved how the dumbass student guy just kept sitting at the desk because Romano told him to wait there. Hours are going by and he doesn't think to wonder where Romano is.

Sheesh!

The original arm-chop way back when was tres gruesome.

Editing for the latest ep.

Oh, poor Romano last night. Yowza! Sad commentary on a life. He was indeed an asshole.

I still love Neela, still love Sam. Pratt is such a... I can't think of a good word, but ugh! Slimeball? Walking groin?

Cicca, lol, I don't think anyone mentioned it, but the Sandy has a baby stuff is a spoiler. Hasn't happened yet, as far as I know.

The negative things I could list are just way too numerous, so bleh.

I so love Neela. Drunk Neela was so freaking amusing. I like her and Abby being friends. Neela doesn't seem the type for putting off grading Abby's test like that. I think she did grade it but didn't want to give it to her because the score was so low. More Neela, dammit.

It was kind of sad that no one else showed up for Romano's memorial. And those two guys walking past in the hall and just taking the food on their way by with stupid grins on their faces need a kick in the head.

I have a question: Am I the only one who sees some subtext between Abby and Neela? :heart DUDE!

The sexiest thing about Neela last night, I think, was when she was talking on the phone and using her native language. YUM! :drool There's something about women and accents.

The drunk scene was funny too. What made me crack up was when she said, "Intercourse." :rollin

Re: ER

When Kerry first appeared on the show she was hard in a sense that she had her own very clear ideas and principles and she was very precise. She was not making an effort to be liked but she clearly was hurt when she walked into Doug -asshole- Ross making fun of her limp, that was the first time everyone could really tell that yeah she was human too. To me she was not a bitch, that is not what I saw. I saw whiny bratty doctors like Mark Green and Doug Ross, who could not stand the idea of being outnumbered and outclassed by one strong willed and very skilled woman.

I remember that thing she pulled on Mark Green and it seemed very much out of character to me. I am not sure she did that after she had started her relationship with Kim or before, but I remember that as soon as she became a lesbian she suddenly seemed to have lost her backbone. To me she was never a bitch though, never, she was a skilled doctor, a good person, it was clear except to the oldies who had sprouted roots in that ER and who could not handle new ideas and who therefore labeled her a bitch.

In any case, what she did to Mark Green does not even come close to all the back stabbing he has done over the years, and he has stabbed a few backs, he broke a few rules, he maltreated more than a few patients, he lied, he whined and he got away with it all because he was Mark Green, he was a nice guy with brown puppy eyes, just like Doug Ross. Kerry always clearly had a good heart and was an honest no nonsense woman, but she became a rather scared and worried about her career kind of woman when she became a lesbian.

I don't think it could be bad to have the person that she was be a lesbian, but the person she became was far less endearing to me. I do not know what she is like now, we are like two seasons behind. It stopped after Kim disappeared (yet another lovely example of the way ER treats it's gay characters). ER has a shitty track record LGBT wise.

regulars:

-Maggie Doyle = gone poof

-Kim = gone poof

-nice gay paramedic guy = burned to death

one timers:

-evil gay man tries to infect his willing desperate for love young lover with HIV

-MTF jumps off a roof after being treated like shit by Carter who of course gets away with that because he is a nice guy with sweet brown eyes as well

-crazy lesbian girls kills dozens of people in failed suicide attempt and accuses Kim of sexual harassment

There are more examples but I have forgotten them, I honestly can't remember any positive ones.

I don't know what Kerry and Sandy are like now, I have yet to see them in action. Still despite all that ER is probably one of the good shows gay content wise, which is depressing enough to contemplate. I miss Kerry, but I can never hate her the way I do some of the other characters. I hope that she will regain some of her former courage in the seasons I have yet to see, not to mention good storylines.

Kerry

Postby redleia » Tue Dec 23, 2003 8:52 am

It has been awhile since I have watched Er but the Kerry Weaver I remember was played as a hard, manipulative b**ch.(She stabbed doctor Green in the back to get to be head of the ER.) Has she changed? If she has not then I don't see how her being a lesbian is a good thing for the lesbian community.A lot of straight folk think all driven career oriented women are "Lesbo b**ches. If Kerry is the same way she was in the early seasons this is reinforced.I have no problem with a lesbian relationship on the show.I am just wondering if Kerry is the right candidate for the role?If she has changed please correct me.I have class on Thursday nights and have not been able to watch ER.

Lesbians on ER

Postby redleia » Tue Dec 23, 2003 2:47 pm

Actually I wanted to see Nurse Hathaway as a lesbian.I hated Ross.I wanted to see her end up with Kelly Martin's character. She is far from perfect, but she has a good heart.

I even wrote a story where nurse Hathaway is in love with a 20 year old college student,Kitty Pryde of the X-men,and Willow and Tara meet her when Willow is wounded by a vamp. They convince her to follow her heart and start a relationship with her young lover instead of tracking after Mr.Snake Oil Salesman.

I am not a Kerry fan but that is my opinion.

I just hope they don't give us a historic first and then turn arouind and dump all over us.A lesbian couple having a baby together would be great.

I used to be a Kerry fan, but I hate Ross with a passion so we do have something in common. :p I liked Carol Hathaway most of the time, I never did get her and Doug Ross. She was far too good for him and he was not nearly so special that a woman could not get over him permanently. Anyway, didn't Julianna Marguiles play a lesbian in something, or maybe she was going to? I think I read that somewhere on the Kitten a while back. Probably in this thread, heh, I'd better reread it.

I visited the WB studio in Burbank. They actually filmed the Helicopter scene in a parking lot. You could still see the heliport symbol with cars parked on it. Surreal.

They finally resumed ER here tonight. I had forgotten they ended it with a mystery smallpox-look-a-like outbreak in the ER that forced them to evacuate the hospital. Today they continued and it was the episode that cost Romano his arm but not his charming personality. This was truly one of the most ridiculous ER eps so far, but that one scene made it worthwhile. I was glad to see Kerry being herself again, she took charge, she looked good. I think I may enjoy the show a bit more from now on, knowing I won't have to look at Ross, Greene, Benton and soon Romano anymore gives me warm fuzzy feelings.

I would have loved to have seen either Julianna Marguilles' or Sherry Stringfield's characters turning out to be lesbian. They both had sparkling personalities in the early seasons. I didn't like Kerry when she first came on the show because she didn't even try to listen to the "old" way of doing things before she decided to add in lots of changes. Plus, she very much came across as "bitchy"--I wouldn't even say "career driven". I'm glad her character softened up recently, although I think they went a little far with the softening up. I'm sure they'll find a happy medium soon enough.

Ok, I don't care, I admit it. I watch for Abby. I love her.. damn it.

The kerry/sandy thing out of nowhere and not very touching. Kerry seemed to be more bonded with her co-workers than her lover. I was touched that Kerry let Abby do the spinal. See, a whole Abby episode makes me post and hey a little Neela doesn't hurt. Actually a little neela/abby ain't too bad either :p

I actually thought, for what we DO get to see on Daytime TV, that the Sandy/Kerry scenes were excellent. Sandy said, "I love you," to Kerry. She called her honey. It's all good for me. I was disappointed/angry that they cut the kiss though. :angry

OMG... didn't Lisa Vidal (Sandy) look totally yummy in that hospital bed? Hee... I know... I'm crazy. She just... with the messy hair and everything... :thud

Okay, maybe I need help, but...she's dreamy. I can't help it! :heart

I'm just hoping we'll get to see more of her and the baby before the season is over.

Weee... Abby/Neela=:thud YUM! They look good together, they have good chemistry... they need to hook up!
