Okay, I'll admit it - I watched this movie

Salem Witch Trials, koala bears, SpongeBob: what's on TV and at the movies!

Okay, I'll admit it - I watched this movie

Postby BBOvenGuy » Tue Aug 02, 2005 9:14 am

Yes folks, here's your chance to stand up and proudly declare that you watched a movie you wouldn't normally expect to be caught dead watching. :blush

I'll start by admitting that last night I watched Ice Princess, the recent Disney figure skating movie starring Michelle Trachtenberg. It was a silly movie, but I've always had a soft spot for figure skating, and besides, it's got Michelle Trachtenberg.

Speaking of Michelle, in the first part of the movie, when her character is supposed to be mild-mannered and shy, I could have sworn she was doing some Tara mannerisms and Tara expressions. I guess Michelle learned a thing or two from Amber when they were working on Buffy together.

So, anyone else have something to confess? :-D

Oh I want to watch that movie too and I don´t mind getting caught alive at it at all.
I went to see Titanic twice in the cinema, but trust me when I say that was because I just loved to watch it sink. Great effects.

A couple of movies I've seen are Hook and Judge Dredd (and even have them on DVD). The sets in Judge Dredd are amazing and Max von Sydow is good in everything, but the less said about Sylvester Stallone the better. Hook is so unashamedly sentimental and I love it despite the skateboards and the song.

And I'm probably the only person that liked Howard the Duck. :ashamed

I just adore Far and Away with that lunatic Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, back in their happier days. The really bad Irish accents are awesome and have helped me develop my own really bad Irish accent. I watch that movie whenever I catch it on TV or on a JetBlue flight.

Oh god, it feels like confession.

I watched, "She Hate Me" that stupid spike lee movie with so called "lesbians." It was as bad as I thought it would be. Lesbians who want babies so they sleep with this asswipe, as if they'd never heard of insemination. The worst part was that the side plot was boring. There is no reason for anyone ever to watch that movie. I am ashamed I sat through it.

There needs to be a serious therapy group for people who have watched this film. I watched this film hoping there would be some enlightened twist at the end of the film...some brilliant perspective that has never been approached in films, but no. How can someone so ingrained in the New York City culture not know any lesbians to hire as consultants?

Eh, I watched Gasoline. A film in the genre of wtf.

Gigli, I sat through it all and needed a really good nap afterwards.

I did actually like the part where Jennifar was giving a 'pro women' speech. It was quite sexy, but you didn't hear me say it.....

Hmmm...

I just rented Ice Princess the other day and I liked it. Might be making it's way into my collection of DVDs. You're right... she probably was taking notes from Amber for that part. Although this isn't embarassing for me to watch, as it's one of my usual film-watching genres.

Hmmm... movie confession time....

I saw Titanic in the theatre three times and once on an airplane as the in-flight movie.... It was one of my favorite movies.

I also saw Spice World.... still can't believe that I rented it.

Movie that people I know have been shocked that I've saw:
~Coyote Ugly

If I think of any others, I'll post again.

I try not to be ashamed of any weird movies, TV shows, or music I like. But, I can completely understand where some people are coming from.

I love "Howard the Duck." It's an awesomely bad movie. I'm happy to say I own it.

I also love, and own, "Spice World." But, that one has the fact that it was supposed to be bad going for it.

Some of the movies that I love, and get grief from my friends for it...

Who's Harry Crumb
Speed
Josie and the Pussycats
Elvira: Mistress of the Dark
Splash
Super Mario Bros.

I love Speed too, one cannot wong with Sandra Bullock, she is such a genuine lovely lady (saw this for myself I tell you). I went to the premiere of Miss Congeniality 2 in Amsterdam where she made an appearance. A great movie, girl rescues the girl and in her turn gets rescued by a girl. I loved that movie, I´ll admit it and shout it from the rooftops.
I will also admit to having seen and liking almost every movie with Asshole Schwarzenegger in them, this includes Twins and Junior, though my liking of the latter is mostly due to the wonderful Emma Thompson. Red Sonja is the best though, it is so bad, so badly acted, bad scripts, bad effects, so completely campy, love it.

Oh and speaking of the late great Max von Sydow and bad acting (not applying to him), bad scripts, bad effect and campy men and women wrestling, I also loved Flash Gordon as a kid. I bet I would still love it if I saw it again.

Well I watched Spice World and Howard the Duck. I actually want to see Ice Princess and The sisterhood of the travelling pants. I also enjoyed The Princess Diaries and Agent Cody Banks.

The movie I am most ashamed about is probably Honey *shrug* I thought it was ok.

Well movie I'm a little embarassed to admit I loved was DEBS, embarassing mostly because I have to admit I only picked it off the shelf because of the cover on the DVD box, and because I have to admit it was the romance and not the girl-girl kissing that I liked... :blush

OOOHHHH, DEBS is taking over my life! I watch it weekly. I work at a video store and never have any fear of taking home a bad movie cuz, well, free. This was one I was very glad I brought home. I am not ashamed. I've made everyone I know watch it. I have the soundtrack. I am planning my uniform for Halloween. I love it because it is intentionally campy, witty, and oh yeah, the girls are hot.

My guilty pleasures are IL Paladini - storia d'armi e d'amori (aka Hearts and Amour in the US) and First Knight (that really out there sort of Arthurian flick with Sean Connery, Julia Ormand and Richard Gere). I have them both on tape so obviously I'm not sorry I saw them. Definitely will give "She Hate Me" and "Gigli" a miss. I'm on a 5 year hiatus from lesbian cliches.

Besides the usual: Howard the Duck (which I absolutly loved) and Elvira Mistress of the dark (My favorite movie when I was like 11) I am ashamed to admit that I have watched ..... *deep breath* .............CrossRoads. The one starring Brittany Spears... :happy It wasn't good. I knew it wasn't going to be good when my wife and I brought it home from the video store...but she insisted that she wanted to watch it...so I agreed...and now I live my life in shame...all because of CrossRoads. :ashamed

When I was a senior in high school I sat through Loser.... all of it... at the theater. You know the one... the one with Jason Biggs and Mena Suvari. And to this day I cringe when someone reminds me and I compeletly deny I watched it. I don't even have the words to describe how baaaad a movie it was. I wanted to leave about 30 minutes into it but I couldn't cuz I was with some friends, so that made it even worse. This is only movie I wish I never saw.

Oh, Emms.

You have reminded me of that little travesty that I was actually looking forward to... yep, I was a Britney Spears fan back in the day. I even flipped through a book on how they made the movie before it was released. You can tell how much I enjoyed it as I didn't even think of it when I thought of bad movies. Totally forgot about it.

So add me to the list of people who saw Crossroads. lol

With all this love for DEBS I must watch it again this weekend. I saw it a week or two ago but stopped after half an hour. I want to see what I'm missing!

Another movie that I love, but seems to get so many bad reviews is Dune. Yes it has poor special effects, its not exactly faithful to the novel and the Harkonnen scenes are gross, but I love it, especially the music.

Being ancient as I am, my cinema sins go back a little further.

I could argue that I actually ruined relationships by mistakenly taking dates to:

"The Last Valley"--a dreadful film about the Thirty Years War with Michael Caine and Omar Sharif. The young lady I went with had nightmares for weeks afterwards.

"Flowers in the Attic"--utterly misconceived film version of VC Andrews' novel. I spent the entire rest of the evening apologizing for having taken the person with me. :lol

There are others, but it's too painful to recall them all.... :ashamed

Ooo, I saw Flowers in the Attic when I was little and it creeped me out for a long time. I kept asking my mother if she was gonna put me and my sister in the attic. To which she would respond, "What?! What have you been watching?.... Seriously." Then I saw it again when I was older and I wasn't so much creeped out but rather disturbed.

Plus I'm another one who saw Crossroads a few times.

I was in the mood for some serious escapism one day and rented a film I normally wouldn't have picked up. I don't recall the title, but there were centaurs and satyrs and the leads were twin blond-bombshells. Very cheesy.

I haven't seen too many films I'm embarrassed about, but there are a couple I wish I'd never seen.

"Throw Mama from the Train" - the most godawful movie ever made. There were three of us and we each thought the others wanted to see the film, or we would have all walked out after the first 20 minutes.

"Seven" - a very well made film but - ick! It was seriously disturbing. The mere thought of it makes me want to go watch D.E.B.S. again to wipe the bad feelings away.

I love every movie with Molly Ringwald in them, especially the 80s teenage ones. Love them all, in my defense I was a teenager back then wishing I was the handsome rich boy who got the girl. I managed to become a boy since then, so one down and three to go.
