There's 50 States?

Hey kittens, I recently saw a re-run of the friends episode where Ross refuses to eat thanksgiving dinner until he names all 50 states, and it got me thinking as to how many I could name.

Just curious to see how many you name in 5 minutes.

I got 27. Not too bad considering, me thinks!

there's also a map version somewhere that i've done but can't find the link. i can rock the map in 2 minutes or less.

the europe version is tougher for me, but i still got 42 of them in the 5 minutes.

I got only 20 states and 30 European countries, though I knew some more names but just didn't know to write them (is one supposed to how to write "Liechtenstein"?)

It was harder than I expected, though I know I'm not good at stuff like this. I've heard every one of those names hundreds of times, but just can't get them out of my head without any hints of some kind.

When I was in 5th grade we learned a song with all the states' names in alphabetical order. To this day I can remember it, but I always forget Oregon and Oklahoma.

And as for the European thing, it is sooo hard in English! Can't they say the names the same way in every language? Snif! Like Latva for example. Lol. Arrggggg I'm ging to try once more, by the end of the day I should be able to say all this countries in English! And to spell Liechtenstein right away. Lol.

Allright, I want credit for 'fessing up to this:

I didn't even get all 50 in 10 minutes. And of course, when it was over, I'm looking at the four I couldn't come up with going "Minnesota! Fucking Minnesota! How did I forget that! I've been there! And New Jersey, the "Garden State", what the hell?? I've been to Maryland more times than I can remember.... Okay, Colorado seems easy, but at least I've never been there...."

As for the European countries, I got 29 in 5 minutes, and it would've been more if my brain could come up with "United Kingdom" as opposed to England or Britain, and if my stupid brain could spell "Cyprus". Again, I missed one of the few countries in Europe I have visited: the Czech Republic.

The map helped a lot. I'm consolling myself with the thought that I would've gotten all the states if there had been a map.

My excuse of the moment: I just got up.

Well, I got 48 states in 3.5 minutes. Yeah, I know... there's 50 states, but it took me another 2 minutes to remember Delaware and Minnesota (see, Boschi, Minnesota is hard).

Maybe I'll go try the Europe one later.

ETA: Well, I got all but 12 in Europe. I guess that's okay. I missed all the little countries that weren't countries when I went to school. Yeah, I know, lame excuse, but I tried.

I tried again using the ironic sans link. Gawd! Watching that timer count down doesn't half panic the brain. I got 34 in 10 minutes.

The best (or worst) thing though, I was thinking 'Lake Michigan, Lake Michigan, what state is Lake Michigan in?'

I forgot 8 which considering I'm Australian and have never looked at a US map let alone studied one, isn't too bad lol.

You forgot:Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi,
Missouri, Pennsylvania, Tennessee

and funnily enough... they're all the one's I cant SPELL

I only got 30 and I spent the last minute staring at the countdown wondering what I forgot or couldn't spell. I'm Canadian, so i'm not crushed but I'd like to have got at least 40. As for which ones I missed, too many to mention, but obviously North and South Dakota never made much of an impression on me.

Yeah, those are all states, allowing for a few spelling mistakes. And the reason I know, even though I'm Canadian , is that I've been playing the online version of this listed above off on on for weeks trying to first remember all the states- which I can now do - and then to try and get my time under three minutes - which I can't. I'm hopelessly stalled at about 3:15. My fingers and my brain just won't let me do it any faster. Aaargh.
