Well, I don't have one...but I can tell you from watching lots of Miami Ink and LA Ink (Kat Von D...yum!) that the more bone there is in the area you are having tattooed, the more painful it will be...so stick with the fleshy bits...and never get someone's name unless it's your child!

I've been thinking about getting one for a while.

My friends have got four each and their tattooist has quite strict rules about what she does, they seem quite sensible. No names apart from children, and (for women) nothing below the elbow or ankle, and nothing neck upwards.

One of my friends has a celtic knot, an Arsenal cannon (soccer team), Scooby Doo and Tigger. The other has a dolphin, a bear, a penguin and chinese writing.

I might get one above my ankle, I quite like the idea of a cute bear. :)

Well, I do have a tattoo. Just got it last September and I really enjoyed the whole experience. Here it is:

It's on the top of my right arm. I also wrote a small-ish essay about my tattoo experience here.

The one thing I will offer as advice to you is that you need to know exactly what you want. If you're looking to others for suggestions, maybe you're not really ready. My guess is that you'll know when the time is right and go for it then.

Hope this helps.

I have two. I can't really show pictures of them because they are in the wrong place for me to do so. They're really low on my hips. One is a little devil with a pitchfork and his tail whipping with a halo crooked across his horns. That one is on my right hip. On the left is a shamrock with the word Irish written across it. They didn't really hurt for me. It was fun getting them, but then again I have a super high pain tolerance. All my friends have tattoos as well and they said they didn't hurt either. Go for it.

I don't have any but my partner has quite a few, she has a goldfish on her wrist and a koi on her lower leg (she's really into fish keeping), the kanji for 'woman power' on her foot (she was a big Spice Girls fan!) and a really cool and colourful phoenix stretching across her shoulder blades and a Celtic-like circlet around her bicep.

I'm thinking of getting one at some stage although I can't decide what I want...although I watch Miami and LA Ink too and that's inspiring...some people get some really ugly ones though but everyone's unique right!

i have two tattoo's one on my ankle and one on my upper arm, the one on the ankle hurt more, took less than an hour to do each of them, the pain doesn't last long and is well worth it, if you do get one look after it when it is healing and it will look so much better afterwards.

I have eight...I have an angel with horns and a book on my upper left arm, a band of bat and angel wings around my right arm, a fleur de lys on my right wrist, a pinup faerie with pink wings and 40s film star hair on my back, ankh on my right shoulder, Arthur Rackham Grail Maiden on my left shoulder, two Brian Froud faeries on my right forearm top and on the underside of my right forearm, a full piece of Kaylee from Firefly.

I got my first when I was twenty one and I've been getting tattooed for over a decade. My advice would be...

Make sure you find an artist you LOVE. (A good artist will work with you and make sure you have exactly what you want. I have had incredible luck and click best with female tattoo artists, but what matters is that you work well with the person.) Your artist should give you a free consultation.

Check out the studio, make sure it's clean-it should be certified by the American Association of Professional Tattooists.

Ask any questions you may have up front and the artist should be able to explain to you clearly and openly. Ask about aftercare, ask about what may hurt most. (The center of my back hurt like mad, but I'd also been going for 4 hours...!)
If you feel like you can't talk, go find another artist or another studio.

Another place you can go look for ideas is a tattoo convention--the Mad Hatter's Ball in NYC is supposed to be fun, the Boston Tattoo Convention is good as well, but I love Marked For Life in Florida--it's all female tattoo artists and has an excellent clientele and atmosphere.

Trust your judgement and trust your love and let it be a wonderful time. (Oh yes and don't forget to have a snack beforehand:))

Since I would be remiss if I didn't share...my artist's name is Mulysa Mayhem and she is in Saugus, MA and she will travel. She is beyond awesome, does beautiful work and also understands the magick of tattooing and how special it is. I love her to pieces .

(and hopefully it won't be off topic, but this is my arm with Kaylee from Firefly done by Mulysa:

(and I do have other ideas.)

Anyway, if you have any other questions I can answer, I'm happy to--good luck!

I have three...my zodiac on my right ankle (cancer), the infinity symbol on my upper left arm, and a Celtic knot on my left calf.

Other than the wonderful advise above the one thing I can pass on is something I was told when I was looking into getting my first one. "Take a drawing or picture of whatever you want and put it somewhere that you have to look at it everyday for at least six months, and if those six months pass and you still want it go for it."

I have my mind made up about getting three more already. Be careful in my opinion they can be addictive.

Hope this helps.[/img]

Hey, tattoos are ace!!!!

I now have 3 tattoos and Ilove them! The first one I had done was back in June or July last year I think, it's on my right shoulder blade and it's only very small, it's a crescent moon with stars surounding it. Then the second one I got was in August and thats on the inside of my right wrist. It's a pink swrl with pink butterflies flying up it and 5 blue apple blossoms surounding it. The third one I got was in October and it's going down my spine between my shoulder blades.it's a blue lotus flower with chinese writing above it that says 'Peace'.

Tattoos are very addictive!!!! I don't want to stop getting them, lol. I'm hoping to save some moey for my next one, it's going to be a bif one. It's going to be 2 faries floating a celtic simbol, the triqueta. It sounds odd but I've started designing it and it's going to be ace!!! I'm having it on my back.

I am a big woose OK, seriously I cried when I got my nose pierced!!!

But for me tattoos arn't that painful! The one on my wrist hardly even stung!!! And I got to watch him do it too!!!!

But I will tell you this, the one I had done going down my spine hurt like a mother!!! I wasn't expecting it to hurt that much but it was worth it!!!! And the one I'm going to get done will hurt also but at least I'm more prepared for the pain, lol.
But I promise you wont regret getting one!!!!!

Wishing Peace, light and love to everyone.

^Everyone cries when they get their nose pierced! The needle goes through a nerve that stimulates tear production.

Mmm piercing.

Tattoowise.. Nothing yet but I'm currently looking for an artist to tattoo my dog's pawprint on me.
Trying to find my own direction on this busy one way street where all the influential people never bother helping me.

My soul brings tears to angelic eyes.
