How was your weekend, MKF?

Postby gorn » Mon Dec 10, 2007 12:37 pm

As we all know, Thursday and the "It's Just Thursday, MKF" thread are the best. Once in a while, though, Good Stuff happens over the weekend and some Kittens (such as myself) don't always have time to write about it until Monday rolls around and we find ourselves back at the desk, desperately looking for something else to do besides work.

I found a few "Something-or-other Weekend, MKF" threads out there, but they all had some kind of theme to them (or, at least, I kind of felt they did). This thread has no theme to it, other than the weekend and your desire to talk about what you did.

That's all there is to it - how was your weekend, MKF?

I spent it studying my arse off in preperation for exams. That sucked a little bit.

But no worries, last exam on Wednesday then I'm gonna punish my liver. :)

I went to my girlfriend's Work Christmas Party, she works with a bunch of crazy freaks (I can't believe the type of people that work in vet clinics!) so it was quite a lot of fun and her boss's wife, who also happens to be one of the vets, got really drunk. There was also much spraying of bubbly and all other sorts of food over people.
It was also stinking hot so not a bad day really.

It was Birthdays Week End in Paris...; My almost twin sister's and then mine.
We went twice at the restaurant (italian one). We first wanted to try one out but as much as we have loved Ratatouille, when we saw the little mouse pass by, added to the not so good way to welcome the costumer, we decided to go to another. It was oooooh so good. Real Italian pizza!
We also went to some stores.. And on Sunday we saw a friend from the con who gave me a DVD with the CR's concert and some videos from the con... One or two starring a Willow with a weird hat and a black skinned Tara ^^ lol
We went to the movies and saw Across the Univers. It was good.
And then on Sunday night I made pan cakes but we had eaten way too much at the restaurant to eat them.
That was my week end :)

Re: How was your weekend, MKF?

Postby gorn » Mon Dec 17, 2007 1:29 pm

Friday night, I discovered how to transform mp3's into ringtones & how to upload them to my phone. I thought, well, I'll make just a couple then move on to finishing up "The Rosenberg Files" (had my music & my J.T.S. Brown all ready to go). Around 6am Saturday morning, I finished up my 30th or so ringtone. I went nuts and copied just about every song I like into a ringtone, but whittled it down finally to just 30 or so. I was mightily disappointed to discover my phone could only actually hold 10 or so. But that's OK - I've got them on my desktop, and can swap them in or out whenever I like.

The first of my custom ringtones I loaded up was the Benny Hill themesong, but I changed it quickly because I kept getting up and running around my house everytime the phone rang.

Saturday (when I finally woke up) was spent Christmas shopping. I think I'm the only Kitten in the area here - we went to Opry Mills, the largest shopping mall in Nashville. I swear, I've seen Disneyland less crowded than this place was. Hell, I've seen TOKYO Disneyland less crowded! It was a madhouse, but I guess that's kind of the charm, isn't it? I normally hate shopping, but there was a slightly festive mood in the air that made it bearable.

We finally got home at 11 o'clock. I don't think I've ever been out shopping so late in my life ... and I hope I'm never out shopping so late again!

Sunday - noon to midnight - was football. It was the semi-finals for my fantasy league, so I was on the edge of the seat pretty much the whole day. Very nerve-wracking. There's a money-prize for 1st & 2nd place only, so if I won this weekend I was guaranteed to get something ... if I lost, nothing. Although every week has been pretty exciting, this was the first time I actually felt like I had money on the line, you know? Through Mrs. Gorn's foolishness, we suddenly got invited out by our neighbors to see their kids in a church musical (Mrs. Gorn teaches them Japanese on weekends) - like some kind of commercial, I was sitting there in church checking the play-by-play action on my cell phone.

At the end of the day, I was ahead of my opponent by 20 points. All my players are done; my opponent has one guy left in the Monday Night game tonight. I know there is a sizeable Wicca community here on the Kittenboard - can you put some kind of mild curse on Desmond Clark of the Chicago Bears tonight? Nothing too serious - I don't really expect him to make 20 points in a single game, but it never hurts to cover your bases.

i had a great weekend. i flew down to my hometown in southern california to visit my best friend and her family (husband and two adorable kids) and she and i went to see tori amos in l.a. last night. it was my 24th tori show, so needless to day, i was ridiculously stoked. it was the bff's first tori show, though she's a big fan, so it was great to share that with her. my big-deal ex-girlfriend (the one that totally broke me several years ago and though we are friendly now, it's still hard) was there and i saw her from a distance, but she was with her gf and i suspect she wasn't keen on saying hello. so that was weird. but overall it's been a great weekend. i'm still here, but am driving back up to oregon with a friend tomorrow.

On Friday I went to the Dentist to get my teeth cleaned. Yay me practicing the dental hygeine. I was also in my hometown on Friday visiting with the Fam. I went to see my cousin play high school basketball and then came home, and chatted with some very special people.

On Saturday I went to a family dinner and stuffed my face with all the holiday goodness.

Sunday was a lazy day. I pretty much watched football all day. And I woke up this morning with pink eye so I got an extended weekend.

I had a holiday shopping weekend too. Governed by monumentally lengthy checklists. Worked a bit on both Saturday and Sunday as well, so it was a rather exhausting couple of days all put together. Topped of with staying up until 1am on Sunday night making banana pudding for the birthday of one of Mrs. Leaf's co-workers. Mrs. Leaf herself was sleeping soundly since she was getting over a cold and I am apparently the best wife ever. I do feel pleased with myself, if sleepy.

The weekend went by quick, but I had a great time with all my friends on Sunday night, when we had our first White Elephant at a local Mexican restaurant. I happily walked away with a kick ass tool set, and my gift of a comfy blanket and pillow went to a friend who announced she was pregnant during dinner. We toasted to her health and to the new addition to her family with hearty mojitos and margaritas, and spent the rest of the evening recounting the "Best of 2007" and planning more memories for 2008.

My weekend was a test in patience. Wake up at like 4pm on Saturday to find out my great, awesomely cool father cannot give me any money to get xmas presents for people, and that I had totally forgot to get my layby out the week before, which I wouldn't have remembered unless I got bored enough to play GTA: San Andreas, which I did and I played the shit out of it and got all the photo ops in San Fierro and got up to the good missions with the harrier, and that continued into Sunday where after waking up at 6pm I just played San Andreas all night. Like the second worst weekend ever.

Mrs. Gorn was sick all weekend, so we just sat around and watched football. Though I felt sorry for her, I rather liked doing nothing and going nowhere for a change. Football was a mixed-bag, though - we loved seeing Brett Favre win in the snow, but she's a Colts fan and I'm a Cowboys fan; made for a stressful, heart-breaking Sunday. But then we watched the new "Terminator" tv show - which turned out to be far better than either of us expected - and we went to bed more or less happy with the world.

Too much input this weekend, MKFs.

Friday and Saturday I shmoozed and attended workshops/talks at the vegetable growers conference and then had a committee meeting for my farmers market on Sunday.

I'm kinda sick of talking/thinking/socializing. Sunday afternoon was blissfully mellow though - the gf and me on the couch with DVDs of Carnivale playing. I kinda wish I could do that again today. Sigh.

i had a great weekend...

* friday i had date #4 with the girl i've been seeing, we went to dinner, had many drinks, saw "juno" and made out like teenagers on the train ride home.

* saturday i babysat my niece and my brother's step-kids (i'm not really sure what to call them just yet), hung out with the fam, made dinner for everyone and had a relatively low-key and relaxing sort of day.

*yesterday was gloriously sunny and dry (i never knew i could be so excited about sunlight till moving to the pacific northwest), so i ran errands and went shopping with my sister-in-law and the kids. i do not, however, recommend shopping with a 9 and 11 year old. they're insane.

* last night i went to drinks with the girl (date #5), had a very strange DTR, got a little tipsy and spent the next nine hours not listening to my better judgement. heh.

My Saturday was full o' tilling and planting and my Sunday involved a spiffy Easter dinner of corned venison and roast veggies. Shortly before the dinner there was a mini-bottle hunt... many adults rummaging around, reaching into drain pipes, around yard ornaments and peeking on top of window sills, occasionally screaming "I found one!" and dancing around, waving little booze bottles. Sweet.

That's a nice twist on the holiday. I always rather suspected alcohol was deeply involved in the creation of the Easter Bunny. A Giant Rabbit comes into your house and hides (of all things) brightly colored eggs. And you've got to find them. If it wasn't such a deep part of our mixed-up culture, you'd swear it was something a couple of whinos thought up.

I don't mean to blaspheme anyone's idea of Easter, or Passover, or any other Springtime holiday that fundamentally has nothing to do with rabbits or eggs. It's just something I always wondered about.

I spent the holiday taking Mrs. Gorn shopping for her birthday, hunting through my wallet for brightly colored credit cards. But we had a good time.

Double-post, MKF!

Just one more day would've been perfect ...

Nothing big or terribly special this Memorial Day Weekend, but it was nice. With gas prices being what they are, what are you gonna do? It was a pleasant weekend to stay home.

Our sleeping schedules got turned upside down right off the bat, and we somehow ended up having a midnight dinner at Denny's on Saturday night. We'd discovered earlier we were out of beer, and since the great bluegrass state of Kentucky has seen fit to ban alcohol sales on Sundays, it was with some sense of urgency we raced out to Bowling Green (we live in a dry county) to beat the clock. Once we had the beer safely in our car, there really wasn't anywhere left open to eat, hence Denny's. And you know what? It was great. Most fun we've had out to eat in a while.

Sunday was the traditional barbeque, and it was perfect. And we had beer! The rest of the holiday, Mrs. Gorn seemed content to let me waste all my time on World of Warcraft. Every time I came up for air it seemed she was watching something about the new Sex & the City movie, so it seems to have worked out perfectly.

All in all, a good holiday weekend. I could do with a few more of those ...

oh, gorn-y. i was just thinking of this long-lost thread yesterday, so imagine my surprise and delight in seeing it resurrected!

i had a swell weekend, mkf!

on saturday, the girl planned an outdoor date for us. she drove us about an hour and a half outside of portland and we went for a little hike along the clackamas river. we found a particularly secluded area and hung out on some rocks that jutted out into the river. it wasn't exceptionally warm but we got a fair amount of sun and i got to watch her run about in a bikini (that alone should make one's weekend, no?). i've been fishing a few times on the willamette and columbia rivers with my brother, but it was nice chilling on a smaller, more woodsy river. it was a gorgeous day out, the drive was scenic, the dog was fairly well-behaved, lots of snuggling and smooching ensued, and it was just about perfect in every way. we went back to her place for a bit, cleaned up and then headed to dinner - she was hell-bent on introducing me to middle eastern food (if you haven't read about my five-year-old palate in any of the other threads, allow me to draw your attention to it now), so i acquiesced and we had a really lovely dinner on an outdoor patio just before the most awesome thunderstorm started. it ended up being a seventeen hour date and probably one of the best i've ever had.

the rest of the weekend involved copious amounts of studying for the bar, dealing with a migraine, and grilling for memorial day.

like i said, a pretty swell weekend.

ETA: i just noticed that my last entry in this thread also discussed going on dates, but for clarification's sake, those were with a different broad who is now loooong gone, thankfully.

i'm double-posting cause apparently you all have lame weekends.

so this weekend a friend of mine came to visit from so cal. she's thinking about moving to portland and was coming on a fact-finding mission. i was out of commission all last week with my achilles tendon problem, so i was really worried that i'd be laid up all weekend and totally ruin her trip.

friday ended up being a wash because i went to the specialist that day and was put in an aircast and was in wretched pain all night. my friend was cool about it and we chilled in our hotel room with my ankle on ice.

saturday i was far more mobile than i'd been in over a week and we set off to see the city. we had brunch at my favorite restaurant, tin shed, visited the amazing velvet painting museum called the velveteria, got some incredible cupcakes at st. cupcake, and went and watched some karaoke at the trashiest lesbian bar in portland.

yesterday was a bit more low-key, just lunch and a bit of walking/hobbling downtown before heading back to nap before our night of debauchery.

the girl i'm seeing (e*, i suppose i shall call her) picked us up around 9 and we headed over to pop tart at holocene for some dancing (yes, i rocked the cabbage patch in my aircast), drag kings and drama (one of the girl's a* was banging while we were dating was there and recognized me). it was a fun time and i even had random girls giving me the eye and trying to dance with me. way to rock the aircast and pimp!

afterwards we went to union jacks. i'd never been to a strip club before and e* wanted to show me the ropes. i was simultaneously fascinated and sad the whole time but i was also determined to find the foxiest lady there to get a private dance from (one of those things to cross off of the "before i die" list). there were two really cute, girl-next-door types that i found hot (the club kind of specializes in more tattooed and pierced kind of girls, but i like 'em wholesome-looking haha), but just as i was about to make my decision, the most gorgeous gal came on and spanked the other two with her pole tricks (she had them, they did not). i was hooked. e* had her paged after her set and told her it was my first time, blah blah blah. a little embarrassing. so she leads us back to one of the private rooms and we talk about our jobs and her formal dance training and then the next song came on and homegirl did her thing while my chick watched. totally crazy. i'd had enough to drink that i could deal with it, otherwise i would have been a total spaz and asked her if she wanted the name of a good therapist or a hug.

e* came over afterwards to further rock my world and then i had to take my friend to the airport a couple of hours later. i'm at work now, with a hangover, a slight feeling of skeeziness, and 2.5 hrs of sleep under my belt.

a fabulous weekend for sure!

After reading ktv's last post, I feel just about as lame as lame can be.

My life needs an aircast....

I, um, sold some vegetables. Not that many. It kinda sucked.

Then I drank cider on the couch in my undies and went to bed early.

Sunday was... oh yeah, weeding vegetables and helping my gf sell some of her vegetables. Which is not, unfortunately, any sort of euphemism.

the aircast adventures continue!

this weekend was portland pride. i was really not looking forward to it for the following reasons: 1) all of my friends live elsewhere, 2) the one non-nookie friend i've made in town was going with her new girlfriend in a we're-so-happy-and-obnoxious-we-can't-possibly-be-around-anyone-else sort of way, and 3) the girl i'm seeing, e*, was going with her friends and has a strict policy against mixing her friends and her dating life (which is lame).

i was kind of mopey about it all day on saturday, but my very-straight brother offered to go with me and i finally took him up on it. we went late in the afternoon when a lot of the booths were closing or closed, but we drank a lot, watched some of the performers (including the lady miss kier from deelite) and caught the dyke march. my brother swiped a neon "single" sticker for me, but it did no good.

yesterday i got my 20-month-old niece dressed up in a "i [rainbow heart] my gay aunt" t-shirt and took her on down to the pride parade. she was so cute and into it, clapping along when everyone else was, dancing about to the oft-repeated choruses of "we are family" and laughing with abandon when the sister of perpetual indulgence paraded by. the dykes on bikes scared her a little, but mainly because their bikes were so loud.

the girl i'm seeing suggested we accidentally on purpose run into each other, so i headed back to the festival (with my niece) after the parade. it took about 30 minutes to get in because the lines were so long, but i got to watch a fracas between a homophobic protester and a 7 foot tall drag queen who at one point ripped off her tiara and wig, got in the guys face and said, in her manliest man-voice, "talk to me now like i'm a little bitch!" it was amazing. once in the festival i ran into e*, got a quick little smooch and saw that she was wearing the same "single" sticker that i was wearing yesterday. so silly - neither of us particularly wants to see other people, but we're supposed to. i also ran into a* at one point and we chatted civilly for a minute. my niece gave her the stink-eye. it was amazing.

the highlight of the day though was that two of my friends from MA (one of my cute little hetero couple friends) got into town yesterday afternoon and called to ask what i was doing. i was like "i'm at pride four blocks from your hotel!" so they came right over and we hung out for a few hours and it was awesome. emily and i got home nice and tuckered out, with no sunburns, and proceeded to sleep for 9 hours.

Woo-hoo Gay Pride! My partner and I walked in the Pride Parade this year with my company and the SF LGBT Community Center yesterday. It was awesome! We marched with drag queens and marveled at the thousands of people lined up and down Market Street watching the parade. Afterwards we joined the festivities at Civic Center, ate a lot, drank a lot, people watched, had a funnel cake, and giggled and pointed at all the costumes and naked men. It was such a great positive atmosphere. Good times.

Re: How was your weekend, MKF?

This weekend was pretty cool, the only downside was that I had Friday off, but had to work Saturday, so my Independence Day festivities were cut short. I grilled up some steaks and corn, and my father in-law, wifey and I lit some fireworks in the backyard. We live in a city where you can light legal fireworks, but every year our neighbors light ones that are bigger and better than the ones you see downtown.

Saturday night our friends invited us downtown for drinks at this awesome dueling piano bar. It's two pianos sitting face to face, and two of the most talented piano players/singers I've ever heard. There were actually three of them, they rotated every 20 minutes or so. Basically how it works is you fill out a request form, throw in a few bucks, and they play your song. My $5 "Like a Virgin" got booted for a $20 'American Pie.' The highlight was when one the piano players busted out a harmonica for 'Piano Man.' It was awesome, and to think I almost didn't go.

I spent most of my money on liquor and women,
The rest I wasted.

I bet ktv had a good weekend ...

LMAO

i definitely had a good time in p-town, but behind closed doors

my weekend on the cape rocked. lots of frolic (in my aircast haha), fornication (without the aircast) and fun with minimal drama. i got a new tattoo (probably one of the more silly and impulsive things i've ever done) and spent mucho quality time with my nearest and dearest.
