Being gay is definatly not a choice, suffice to what my mother and sister believe. I know that if I were straight it'd be better and my mom would love me unconditionally. I actually didn't tell my mom I was gay, my sister decided to because she was angry with me. My mom didn't say anything but her opinions about it are very harsh. I was able to tell my other family members and for the most part (my older sister excluded) they're pretty ok with it.

No one chooses to be gay, straight or bi, but I do believe that sometimes the way one is treated in life can have an impact on who we are and perhaps our sexuality as one of the many consequences. That is not written in stone that is a perhaps. Some of my family I have told that I am bi but they are in denial about it one moment and cool with it the next so I am confused as to what their attitudes are. I know that some members of my family I could for sure never tell. It is hard to please both ourselves and our parents/brothers/sisters and I understand why it is so hard for some people to tell their parents. My stepdad is a total homophobic and so if he found out hell would let loose.

I think that some people may go through confused stages and perhaps choose to kiss their same sex friends. just to be different and have some fun. This lacks solidity, but if these feelings of desire stay with a person and they want to continue kissing members of the same sex and seek out a relationship like that then they are choosing a way of life and their sexuality is a part of that. But I don't think that people "choose" to be gay what they are choosing here is a comfortable relationship that will make them happy and I think it is important for everyone to remember that whoever they go out with they must try and do what they believe is right for them, it is your life, be happy xxx

Some of these things have already been said, but I'll add my two cents because, well I'm just a two-cents-adder at heart.

I honestly believe you have no control over your sexual orientation. I believe this because I know I've been gay since I could remember. Although I didn't know what to call it until later, I was very clearly attracted to girls from the very beginning. Because it's all I knew, I never felt bad or guilty or even different until I learned those feelings from others.

My parents know. Do they like it? Nope. My parents have known for about 12 years now. I'm in a 17 year relationship and my partner and I have a 3 year old daughter. They accept my partner and well...kinda hard to hate a cute little baby, so we get along. But we never talk about my being gay or anything.

I am Bi. My mom knows I have had girlfriends (5) but she only knows about 2 of them for sure, she might have guessed a third one because I was recently and the breakup was really hard for me. She doesn't even know about the one boyfriend I've had (wasn't exactly the type of guy you bring over for dinner).

Anyway, she has only commented on it once. 2 years ago. She said I was confused but I defintitly was straight. Now she pretends se doesn't know. It works for me. I actually think she might secretly think I am a lesbian insted of bi. Anyway now we are a don't ask don't tell on that subject.
Create, don't destroy.

There's enough badness in the world, don't add to it.
