Tell me you most interesting job ever!!!! You can also put the strangest thing that happened to you at work here.

Mine was in 2004 I had always wanted to be in the navy so a friend worked on the USS Texas for over night stays and got me the job it was fun and I had a uniform I was an officer of course I always had great pride when I was officer of the deck. we gave tours to different groups ( boy scouts, girl scouts, ROTC, and different reenacted things on the ship with there sponsors it was cool) to this day I could give you a tour.

My most interesting job was a freelance translation job, so just a one-shot project, not an ongoing job per se.

The weirdness of this job: A kid had gotten appendicitis while spending time as an exchange student in Germany, and I had to translate the medical report for the parents' insurance company here in the U.S. I got to learn all kinds of new German medical terms such as "Stuhlgang" (literally "chair-going," actually means more like "using the toilet"). I forget exactly how I translated it in context, but it was a serious case of "too much information" about this poor kid's medical situation.

The job I currently have would probably be the most happening job I've ever had. I work with typical and special needs children. And kids really do say the darndest things. A little girl in my room wakes up from her nap and she just starts talking "i love you so much, miss janelle, but i miss my old friends they should be able to come here to" , she has lots of random moments. The staff in my room are crazy, I work with 2 girls and a guy. and we have tons of fun, big kids in grown up bodies is what we are. if u walk by our room u usually find us doing the YMCA or Macarena and if you are lucky the chicken dance. I love it but sometimes i hate it

I don't have enough experience to tell you my better job ever.. but last year, something strange happened.
Well strange for me. Definitely random.
I was a post girl. Dealing mails... bills also.. lol
Anyway, I was in this bulding dealing mails in the mail boxes... still searching a bit for peoples name... (I didn't know well the order it was at the beginning.. ok it was the beginning until almost the end... but hey it is hard).
And one of the people living there was with me, helping me and all. I saw he was looking at me in a strange way and was a bit afraid. When all of a suden he said "Julia? Are you Julia? Nicole's daughter?" so I nodded... not the first person knowing my mother... almos everybody while I work there...
"Oh you're so grown up now!! Last time I saw you you were 4 or 5, playing with my mother's dogs!!"
Still nothing new... I always have played with dogs and cats... there people I remember their pets but not them... lol... so I asked him who was his mother. And she was my nanny!!! My wonderful Nanny!! I neverknew until then she had a child.
It was very strange but very pleasant.

I use to be a substitute Teacher and worked with handicapped children I loved doing that it was real rewarding.

Definitely being a lifeguard. Helping people is a really great reward for me. I love it. I have unfortunately had to save a few lives but in the end I love doing it even when it scares the shit out of you having to really give someone CPR. That or writing, which, yes I am now official, as I posted somewhere else.

I'm working at a bakery right now, making French bread. It's the best job I've had so far (I'm used to working with food, but only in a customer service way), and I get to work the vampire-like hours that I like.

I worked as a sort of teacher's assistant in an after-school program for mentally handicapped kids last year. I got paid like 4 dollars an hour, and I was only really there for three hours every day, but it was the most educational and rewarding job I've ever had. I didn't really get to lead anything, since I hadn't even graduated from high school at that time, but I was the assistant to the music program co-ordinator, so I got to hang out with the kids while she led them in simple rhythm exercises or discussed how certain songs "felt," etc. I feel that music is a huge part of development, and especially something we can all experience and enjoy, and even though I just played with the kids and did paperwork, it was the most educational and exciting job I've ever had, and may ever have, and is definielty one of the things I am considering doing with my life (the actual group leader's job, not the assistant job).

Hmmm... my employment record is kinda full of odd jobs.

A random selection: I was a film projectionist for a while in this small theatre, and at the time I had a pet rabbit who had babies. She rejected them, and only one survived, which I bottle fed. Because my hours were so long I would take him to work with me, so there was often a small rabbit hoping around the projection room.

Then there were the years as a librarian at a newspaper. We pulled files and researched for the reporters in the newsroom. The library was on the second floor, the newsroom the first, so if we had material for reporters we would put it on this dumb waiter kinda thing and use a pulley system to drop it down a chute into the newsroom. Once it was dropped it often got stuck until a reporter unlatched it.

One day my boss put some envelopes on this device and reeled it down. Moments later he got another request, and wanted to send that down too. By chance the device had not latched at the bottom, so he was able to pull it back up, add the new material, and send it back down again. At which point he said, without a trace of awareness,

"I just love it when I can get it back up for a second time."

Thought I was going to die laughing.

My most interesting job has to be working as an elf in Haroods for the Santas Grotto!!!!

Was an amazing job! The best job I've ever had, and I've had a lot!!!!!

i worked one summer almost 10 years ago for a quadriplegic nymphomaniac and walked in on her getting a handjob from the gross, married, and pantsless computer repair guy she was friends with. to this day i can't listen to "welcome to the jungle" because it was playing that truly horrible day.

I taught horse riding to children from 6 to 11 years old two weeks and it has been beautiful they were all there listening to me and learing and adoring anyway there were two 'groups' of them the more childish and the more 'grown up' and they were always fighting so I took them to the riding field and built a turtle with sand and after they were all together making things with sand and one little girl told me 'You're good at everything, when I'm older I want to be like you' that made me go all and she's been so sweet!!

Jay/wt4evr, I think teaching horse riding is a marvellous job and I would have loved to have the opportunity of doing that part-time one day .

After University, I scored my first job in Public Relations. My boss was a kind of eccentric Social Psychologist turned into a Public Relations Officer. We always had loads of fun working together and I loved having the ability to analyse and integrate psychological knowledge into our everyday PR dealings.

One of my favourite anecdotes relates to the packet of Brazilian coffee she brought to the Office one day...

She was very excited and told us it was a special blend that was not available on the Mauritian market. To please her, we even had to bring the coffee machine into the main Office so we could all lend a 'hand' in the preparation of this fabulous beverage.

Everyone took her/his first sip and immediately spat the liquid out...the taste was unbelievably acrid!

Bora (that was my best workplace buddy) was the one who ultimately discovered that the coffee had expired in November 2001....and we were in 2006 .
