Oh to be a kitten..so what is your kitten story?

I have been thinking of starting this thread for a while now. The kittenboard is a very special online community that attracts lots of beautiful people. So I wanted to say thank you first of all for the makers of the kittenboard and than to the kittens. Second off, what has the kittenboard done for you in your life? How long have you been here? I know there are amazing relationship and friendships started on this board that never would have had a chance otherwise.

I have been a kitten for almost 5 years now. I started off as SquishyTrishy and than dustyfire and now cup. I conquered my dyslexia and wrote my first coherent piece as a Tara and Will fanfic. I am still writing today because of it. I met my first girlfriend here because of my fic and dated here for 10 months or so. I met my second girlfriend here who I dated for 2 years or so. I have made amazing friends here, Aimee, Laura, Andi, Brenda, just to name a beautiful few. Although I don’t always talk to these people anymore, we all know how life changes and moves but they are still important people that helped guide me through my adolescence. Every single one of these people that I have mentioned have all connected friends and lovers because of the kittenboard.

I started coming here because when I was 15, I turned off the TV and saw willow and Tara. I was so excited to see lesbian characters on TV; it really helped with the coming out process not to mention gave me my own little world of Willow and Tara that sustained me through my small-town-in-the-closet-days. I went searching for some fanfic and found Lisa countryman’s work. Which eventually lead me here. And here I have been on and off for the past 5 years. Sometimes I come out of habit, sometimes I come because I am addicted to a fic, and sometimes I come because the kittenboard is a little piece of online home. I am now twenty, in my 3rd year of university, proudly out to everyone -and the president of the Gay and Lesbian club on campus. The kittenboard has had a fairly big hand into helping me become young women, and allowing me to connect with people, like Catie -sysnootles19- who is always a welcome constant in my life. It seems no matter what is going on in my life this place continues to remain a part of my daily online rituals and I am ever so happy to be a kitten. So thanks.

So what is your kitten story?

I've been on the board for about four years now (just over, I think). Like Trish (Cup) said above, because of this board I've had some of the most wonderful experiences of my life, the top one being my relationship with Trish. Through that relationship, I was able to travel across the country and visit places I had always dreamt of, but never thought I'd be able to see. There are many other incredibly wonderful things about our relationship, but that's another story for another time.

For me, the Kitten Board has been where I've been able to meet the most wonderful people (and some not so very wonderful, to be completely honest) whom I was proud to call friend. I've lost contact with a few of them, some through no fault of my own, and some completely my fault (Brenda, I am so sorry... I miss you, but I understand your distance. I think about you almost every day). But they have all had a special place in my life, and have helped shaped me into who I am today.

Coming here is also a daily ritual for me, though I hardly post for a number of reasons. I've had issues with people, but overall it's a very positive place and am a much better person for having found it.
