I am writing a paper on M. Butterfly by D. H. Hwang. It has GLBT issues in it, and my paper is specifically addressing the characters' sexuality. I was hoping that others on this board have read the play and might be able to offer opinions on any of these things:
Song's sexuality/gender. Is Song a man or a woman? Why does he/she continue the charade longer than necessary? etc.
Gallimard's sexuality. Does Gallimard really know that Song is a man? Why does he allow himself to be fooled? Who really created the illusion? etc.
Any other useful info is welcome.
