This was partially inspired by another board i visit, but I wanted to change it to a more diverse audience from the one it was directed at before.



What Turns You On?



Asking this question, I'm not trying to dive into the deepest, darkest recesses of your psyche (of course, feel free to do so if you want to), but more of a simple "what attracts you to a potential partner?" You can interpret that pretty much anyway you wish, whatever. This isn't intended to be particularly serious.



Anyway, since I'm posting, I guess I'll start.



Personality wise, it's nice to have a sense of humour that's dry and a little biting. It livens things up, in my opinion. Confidence is good, but not arrogance. No. Not at all. Someone who is intelligent and skeptical, and reads the news is also a good thing. Being assertive is another a big turn-on; it's nice for the person to know what they want and not to beat around the bush (so to speak). Finally, it's nice if they give me time for my petty intrests (comics, games, etc.)



Looks wise...well, for guys I like skinny dudes with floppy hair, with a bit of a rock-star look going on. Indie boys. Yum. Muscles aren't really a big turn on for me - actually, they're a slight turn off. Being chubby isn't bad, it's kind of nice really, but still, I'd prefer it if their stomachs did that thing when they sit down.



For girls, I've got an ideal that drives me crazy whenever I see it. Short, stocky, boyish with dark, short hair. I don't really think there's a bigger turn on than a girl with spikey hair. Unless she wears glasses, of course. Woah, girls in glasses *steadies self* Either that, or girls who look like crazy bag ladies/crack whores (but aren't). Ripped clothing and intentionally smudged makeup is fantastic.

Before anything, a partner has to be someone I would be good friends with even if we're not partners.



I want someone who's intelligent when it comes to philosophy and analysis, who acknowledges that all formations, both physical and emotional, is temporary, and embraces her own mortality and imperfections. She (I use that out of convenience; I'm actually bisexual) would know that every being is both good and evil, and experiences joy and sorrow, and love and hate. That said, she would be compassionate to both others and herself. She would accept me with all my flaws, and she would accept herself with all her flaws, but she'd do the best she can at improving herself and helping me to improve myself. She'd be a devoted friend and companion, but she'd accept the fact that we're two seperate individuals, that we're allowed to have different opinions and different hobbies. Of course, it'd be nice if we shared some, but if a girlfriend wanted to monopolize all of my thoughts and attentions, it would be a real drag. In fact, I've had personal experience with this. It is a very real drag.



My biggest turn on, besides the spiritual/compassionate bit, is logic and rationality. I don't want someone who claims to have completely "seen through" any individual or group of people,or who makes too many promises of forever. My ideal partner would be laid back and open-minded about most superficial things, but never apathetic to the most important issues in today's society, like poverty, environmental issues and human rights. I don't want a rich American, a diligent Chinese, or a poor third world person, or a chauvinist or a feminist; I want a world citizen. Someone who can open her "fellowship" to include all of humanity, or at least, who will try to regard everyone as equals. I mean, sure, every person is biased, but I want someone who's sharp enough to know to look past that.



I want someone who respects and trusts me enough to be honest with me, and who doesn't get bitter and defensive when I'm honest with her. Seriously, insecurity is overrated. "Emo" is overdone, and melodrama understately sucks. Not that she won't have any insecurities or things to complain about- I mean, I vent a lot- but I don't want to be a school counselor to someone who's really just fishing for attention. I don't want to get the feeling that I'm babysitting or walking on eggshells. I mean, you accept the good things about life, yourself, other people, etc. and you accept the bad things, and you accept what you want at the moment, and you work from there. It's hard at times, but you've just gotta do it. It's life. One of my old affiliates had some issues with this.



Finally, a sense of humor is nice too.

I'm doing this under mild force, but what the heck. About Guys? they have to have spikey hair (I don't like girls with it, but most guys), looks wise. Well first of all my gf , she is the sexiest thing (for me) i am a total hand whore, i love long, thin fingers with normal fingernails (with a bit of white err not just a bit but not nails that are 5 cms long ICK), i am just into it Long Hair and not at all a butch typ of girl!

Hmmm...what turns me on? Not something I ever thought of before but after thinking long and hard about it I'd have to say.....eyes. My first, and so far last girlfriend, had the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen. When we first met she would wear those awful color contacts, a bright blue color while she naturally had brown eyes, not the best combination especially when she would blink and it looked all weird. One day she finally got rid of the blue contacts and wore normal ones and that was it for me. I could spend all day looking into her eyes and that was it for me....I was in love.



I thought the eye thing was just a fluke but recently the first thing that attracted me to my "current crush" was looking into their eyes. Also, I'd kill to be attracted to someone with the same interests or likes as me, I seem to only fall for the people completely opposite of what I want.

Hair is a HUGE turn on for me. I love ginger hair. I have only had 3 girlfriends so far, and 2 of them have had ginger hair lol. Don't really care about body size, I like snuggling so bigger than me is good (I'm kinda skinny, not from choice).

I need to be able to talk to the person. They need to be able to carry on a decent conversation that is more than one-sided. Not just me sitting there while they go on and on, about to nod off into my soup. So, they need to have layers, interested in lots of different things. If they are focused on only one thing, stuff becomes boring real fast.

Intelligence is a must as well. I can't stand a person who thinks watching grass grow is quality entertainment (unless they are into botany, which is different).

Finally, I guess they need to be nice. Grumpy people are a big turn off. Also, no blonde or short people jokes. I get a lot of crap for being both, even though I can kick major butt . lol
