Or Eric Cartman and Styx's "Come Sail Away"?
So here we go Kittens, for you what is "The Song"?
It does not have to be your favorite one, or even a really good one, but every time it comes on you have to turn up the stereo a little louder or drive an extra lap around the block to hear it all.
For me The Song is and has been since about 1978, Kanasas - "Carry On (Wayward Son)"
Ever since I saw the movie Heroes I can't get it out of my head. Especially the final scene with Henry Winkler and Sally Field. (By the way, Heroes is also a great movie, rent it sometime).
Funny thing is, I am not a big Kanasas fan, nor is this a particulary great song. There are better songs and better groups. But there is just something about it.
The Foo Fighters do a not so bad version of this song too.
Ok, obligatory lyrics post,
Quote:
Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more
Once I rose above the noise and confusion
Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion
I was soaring ever higher
But I flew too high
Though my eyes could see I still was a blind man
Though my mind could think I still was a mad man
I hear the voices when I'm dreaming
I can hear them say
Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more
Masquerading as a man with a reason
My charade is the event of the season
And if I claim to be a wise man, well
It surely means that I don't know
On a stormy sea of moving emotion
Tossed about I'm like a ship on the ocean
I set a course for winds of fortune
But I hear the voices say
Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more
No!
Carry on, you will always remember
Carry on, nothing equals the splendor
Now your life's no longer empty
Surely heaven waits for you
Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more
So all, what is The Song for you?

Me: I think I'll have a mid-life crisis and bring home a little red convertible Vette.
My wife: Fine, as long as you don't bring home some little red-head.
