Amy Lee - singer for the band Evanescence with a style that's quite unique. Most people either love Evanescence or hate them - and subsequently royally **** up the name. Her voice is absolutely beautiful, chilling and sweet.
Tarja Turunen - She sings in a very operatic way, in fact, she's been professionally voice trained to sing opera. It was her career of choice, until she was rejected for being an alto. Her voice is absolutely beautiful, and her accent (she's Finnish) gives all of Nightwish's music a deliciously exotic flavour.
Loreena McKennitt - she's been listed before (though her name was misspelled). Irish-Canadian through and through, she's a world traveler with a haunting voice and a distinctly Celtic sound. She's also fluent in Gaelic.
Sarah McLachlan - fits into a genre all her own. She has an amazing skill, killer range, and an almost gothic feel to her music. Plus, she's Canadian! Canadians rock!
Martina McBride - Yes, a country singer. She sings a lot about various "issues", abuse, suicide, disease. Some of her best songs are such as "Independence Day", about a drunk man and the woman who kills herself by burning the house down. "Concrete Angel", the little girl who's mother beats her to death, freeing her from the harsh world. She also has a lot of love songs, such as "Wild Angels" and "Safe in the Arms of Love".
Reba McEntire - Come on, it's REBA! Texan redhead with an amazing voice and a range that's absolutely awe-inspiring. She's even got her own very amusing television show. I believe I can recall some lines...
Kira: "Wouldn't it be awesome to be an actress?"
Reba: "I think I'd rather be a singer."
If you want a song of hers to listen to, I'd recommend "I'm A Survivor" or "I'll Be". Beautiful songs.
I know there are more, I just can't think of them right now!
Don't you sit upon the shoreline and say you're satisfied, choose to chance the rapids, and dare to dance the tides - Garth Brooks, "the River"
