Oh man i dunno where to start!! I'm totally with you,

Consolata, about So much Shouting, So much Laughter it's the first CD I bought in a long time and it was well worth the money!

OMG, 4WiccanLuv, Code Blue is one of my group of friends' favorite song. We all think it's so funny. When I burn Cds i always pair it up with like a country song and maybe a Monster Ballad.

Speaking of Monster ballads, i have that CD, More than Words by Extreme is my favorite!

What else? Oh, oh, so much more!

Indigo Girls - love 'em, just love 'em

Michelle Branch

Vanessa Carlton

Avril Lavigne - all three of the above are my girls! Yay for their music pushing Britney Spears out of the limelight!

Ani Difranco - Can't get enough!

Jeff Buckley - Amber's got good taste

RUFUS WAINWRIGHT!!!!!!!!!!! - He's my husband, he is, i swear. . .what? He's gay? Well If either of us were to have a straight experience i'd want it to be with him. He's pretty!

The Dirty Dancing Soundtrack - It's an 80's must have, plus you gotta love the cheesiness of She's Like The Wind!

The But I'm A Cheerleader Soundtrack - it's cheery and Bubbly, very 'me'

The Kissing Jessica Stein Soundtrack - Smooth jazzy music, way cool

John Mayer - Have you ever noticed his 'welcoming lips'? My Friend Sean pointed those out to me.

Tonic - I SO hafta get their new Cd

Sarah Mclachlan - I have a thing for Redheads ;-)

Garbage - Shirley Manson, see above

Toy Dolls - Punk that is happy! Olga is a great name for a lead singer too!

Vanilla Ice

Beastie Boys

Run DMC - For when I get a hankerin' for old school rap!

Those are in general, i'm also SO addicted to the song 'Can I buy you a Drink' by Hoobastank and 'You and Me Song' by the Wannadies and 'Breathing' by Lifehouse, and . . . it really just goes on and on like that into eternity.

I need to be stopped, my poor computer can't hold all this music for much longer!

No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue, I could not foresee this thing happening to you.

Guess what my favourite aunt brought back for me from Russia (holiday) as a souvenir ? He, he, hmm, well, I actually asked her to buy it, if she could find it, so it wasn't exactly a big surprise for me. Ok, it's the t.A.T.u CD ! It's totally in Russian, their native tongue, so I haven't got a clue what they're singing about, except for the "All the things she said" song obviously. I hope that one becomes a hit in Belgium pretty soon (it already is in the Netherlands: lucky ones), coz I wanna tape the video clip. My aunt experienced quite a bit of problems in search of the album. Thanks to a bit of language lessons they found out the "u" is a "y" there, hence the misunderstandings, but anyway: she got it ! It's not too shabby: peculiar music, bit electronical and yet with feeling. I should get my hands on the English lyrics really: maybe on their official site...

My playlist might seem a bit random. On one hand I have my Indigo Girls, Ani Difranco, Dave Matthews Band and Michelle Branch. But on another I have all my Broadway musicals and TV/movie soundtracks. Then still on another hand I have my country music mix and I also have an 80's music mix so you could say I'm pretty eclectic when it comes to music. I'm not a fan of rap, though. Definately can't stand the stuff...

Wow, I didn't know that t.a.t.u. was a Russian group. We got their single in at work recently. DAMN, hotties. I know they're probably jailbait, but they're very pretty. Especially the redhead. Where was I?:angel I really like their single. I hope it does well here.

I forgot, but who mentioned Tonic? They rock so hard! I adore them. They're excellent in concert, too.

One of my new favorite songs is Greenwheel - "Breathe" (don't remember if it was on my list many pages back) I like Chevelle - "The Red" a lot, too. Also the new song by Earshot (I can't remember the song title, but it's very Alice in Chainsy). I'm such a rock chick.:)

I liked System of a Down till the station here started playing them every single time I turn on their station (I am SO not kidding, either. It's a running joke with my friends and I. We call them SoaD106.3).

Um...everything really. Recently got into Enya, which I get teased for by all my guy friends. Can't wait for Shania's new CD to come out in November.

Other bands I'm really into at the moment are Trust Company (their song Downfall is just awesome), Our Lady Peace, Michelle Branch, and Linkin Park.

Yep, the t.A.T.u girls are Russian... Woo hoo, I taught something. Maybe a career as teacher lies ahead of me... then again, maybe not (hate speaking up in public, in front + I'm not sure if I would have the authority)

Enya so rules, don't let anyone tell you different ! If I had to pick two favourite songs: Caribbean blue and Boadicea probably would be it, but it's still hard to choose: they're all great songs.

I totally love Ebudae, On My Way Home, Only Time and the one before that song on her newest CD. Her voice makes me shiver.

If I was chained down and forced to pick two favorite Enya songs, I'd have to go with Fallen Embers, because I get teary eyed whenever I hear it. And...um...Book of Days. Since that was the first song of hers I ever heard. But A Day Without Rain is probably the best CD I own. Every song on there is amazing.

I'll back up the Enya love. I've had two of her albums for years and they are still essential to proper enjoyment of a relaxing bath. The only other album that can fill in a pinch is The Last of the Mohicans soundtrack.

Don't listen to guys. They don't understand the subtle complexities of quality soothing music.

I'm so with you on the essential bath-music, slowontheuptake. Heather Nova's Siren and Oyster are kinda cool too, but then again, I listen to almost anything while taking a shower, putting the volum extra loud, annoying the hell out of my parents and sister, if they're at home.

Well, I've heard the name before, but I can't say I know their songs...

I'm searching the Web for articles about them of right now... Ah, I see they played at the Lilith Fair Festival! ;)

If you like this style of music, I would also recommend Mathieu Chedid (also known as M), Indochine, Dominique A...

Singing in the shower

Postby slowontheuptake » Fri Oct 18, 2002 2:22 pm

Killin Joke, I crank it up in the shower to piss off my nieghbors.(Don't worry, I never take a shower when they could possibly be asleep.) One of the best for this operation is Head P.E. I'd post lyrics but they're much better for singing in the shower.

Although I could listen to anything and they'll just assume is offensive.

Neighbors can be fun in the way that isn't. Mine called the police on us within 10 minutes of us starting our band practice one night. We were even being really quiet -- he was playing an acoustic guitar and my amp was set to level 1. She couldn't even come over and ask to turn us down. She must've called 911. 'Cause that was SUCH an emergency. :eyebrow

Neighbours...

Postby Killin Joke » Sat Oct 19, 2002 7:41 am

Everybody needs good neighbours, with a little understanding, you can find the perfect... /smacks herself/ /shiver/ Brrr, I needed that... It's amazing how the most stupid tunes get stuck in your head and saved on the hard drive in your brains, while exam stuff flees after you've written down the last letter, huh ;)

Anyway, touchy subject indeed. We've got weird ones. We can't really complain, coz we don't get hassled (much). There's this one family: we're pretty sure the husband terrorizes (verbally) the rest of the family, though he doesn't look like it to the outside world (isn't that always the case ?). Windows are always closed, they start cleaning the house on sunday, don't do anything exciting all day, except for reading the paper maybe, lying on the couch in foetus-manner. The oldest brother must be 26 or something, still lives at home (which isn't bad, if you got cool parents), and probably afraid of girls. If the guy's gay, he's got another thing coming, with a dad like that :( The other one, my age, is luckily much more worldly, nice to talk to. They hang out the laundry with the 4 of 'm, take walks with the 4 of 'm, go to church all 4... Other than that, they're friendly, and willing to take care of our pets (well, now only one turtle).

Our other neighbours are a handful: older dad, grumpy, also homophobic, the wife starts everything, but never finishes, talked to my dad about my sister being a bad influence on her daughter, while it's the other way around, she's putting it out... Other older sister has a screw loose: dunno what happened to her now: older man as boyfriend or something, moved out ? I don't care. Luckily my sister broke off her "friendship" with the girl, so we can eat in peace an quiet now, and don't get disturbed anymore during dinner. They're always screaming and yelling in that house: hysterical people... Nice anecdote: my dad embraced and kissed our gay interior decorator on the cheek once at this town-meeting-thingie, to tick of the neighbour... Well, he always kisses him when he sees him. Thought that was pretty decent of him. Gossipy small peasant village we live in, huh (Well, I'm not much better here, right now, but at least I know the info's safe with you guys in here).

Sorry for straying: Head P.E., huh: I think I've heard of them (isn't the name written differently ?) Maybe at a festival... Metal's cool to piss people off. Hard stuff like Rammstein always does the trick, he, he ;)

I've got another question: if I were to choose an Ani di Franco CD (I really should get my hands on some of her music), which one would be the best to try out ?

re:Neighbours...

Postby slowontheuptake » Sat Oct 19, 2002 5:00 pm

Killin Joke I hear ya on the neighbour 'fun'.

I live in a house and only have neighbours on one side. A nice little family with an anal retentive, thoroughly whacked mother. She has a tendancy to buy dogs then feed, water, and completly ignore. And then she's stunned (stunned I tell ya!) when they don't end up fully trianed. She'll get rid of it and a month later she'll have another. The best part is that they all bark constantly from lack of attention and she putes them out the second it's not illegal to do so (noise laws). I keep odd hours and get a comfortable nights sleep:cry . At the moment she has built a pond, complete with two ducks in her tiny back yard. That's only one of the many pleasures of living next to them...

As for Head P.E, thier name is actually spelled (hed)pe.

pe stands for planet earth I belive. I have thier first album 'Broke'. From thier lyrics I get the impession that they don't like women much... On the other hand, it's way too much fun to not enjoy them. They're more funky rap-metal than pure metal. I love the lead singer's voice and the lyrics are hilarious and very disturbed. My favorite song is 'Crazy Legs' . Screamin that at the top of my lungs is pure catharsis:lol .

Unfortunatly, my neighbours can only truly enjoy my fabulous singing if they're outside. Luckily they're constantly doing somthing to thier yard:grin

Uch, I hate it when people wanna keep pets, but are not committed to take care of them, probably because I'm an animal-lover, but majorly allergic, so I can't have 'm :(

Hed(pe), huh... Yeah, seems very familiar... I must have heard 'm before. I'm not too fond on rap myself, probably because of those women unfriendly lyrics... Also because of the ridiculous macho behaviour that comes along with it: stupid hand gestures, gold necklaces till they drop down, arrogant bastards thinking there "the" man, but maybe that's just me... and I'm stereotyping. I'd never buy an album, but I must say I never shun away from dancing to an "Eminem"-track for example, on a party... With music it all depends, whether to take lyrics seriously or not, whether songs have a good rhythm, melody to them, notwithstanding the rest, etc. I'm open to pretty much everything: doesn't mean I'm gonna be as much enthusiastic about everything, but I'm not gonna discard it rightaway. e.g. I buy metal CDs, but I can only listen/dance to nu-metal... Sheesh, it's complicated ;)

Whoa! I’ve just had a revelation! :grin

I’m now trying, for the first time in my life, to listen to classical music while I’m preparing for a test. Actually, I hate to addmit it but it's probably also the first time I'm really listening to classical music at all. I have to say, it does wonders for concentration and mood. I’m actually having fun doing schoolwork. And this is the first time I’ve ever listened to Bach. First.

Oh my god! Kittens, you oughtta try it!

Or, you probably have already… and as usual I’m the ignorant kid… darn. :)

Sorry I've been so long getting back to this, I've been in the world-of-vacations-where-there-are-few-computers. Not a bad place to be actually. Anyway, Killin Joke, I would say you should try the newest Sahara Hotnights cd called Jennie Bomb. And Mollyig, I'd love to see Gemma Hayes live, but she hasn't wandered over to this side of the world yet. She is an amazing songwriter, I have a lot of eps and stuff beside the album, and she just keeps cranking out great song after great song.

Someone was asking for advice on Ani Difranco cd's someways back in this thread. My personal favorite is still Out Of Range, but that's pretty old now. The recent double studio cd Revelling/Reckoning is probably a better start.

Finally here's some more additions to the list- The Beards (with lisa from Cub and kim from the Muffs),the Donnas, Tift Merrit, Tegan and Sara, Jenny Toomey, Meghan Toohey and too many more for me to remember now. Have a good day everybody.

Killin Joke, I avoid Rap even more dilagently than I shun Country. At least country has exeptions:p .

I have heard Eminem's first album and sadly admit that I found it amusing but I would never buy it. Mostly because I think Eminem is a dumbass.

hed(pe) owes as much to r&b and metal as it does rap. Although I agree it should be avoided if you are offended by sexest crap. My lifelong love of metal has rendered me immune:lol .
