Hi All,
I know this doesn't really belong here but I couldn't figure out where else to put it.
I am looking to rehome my 7 year old, female basset hound, Benson, into a loving, caring home. She has ear infections that need some up keep and I can no longer afford it as I am out of a job and haven't been able to find one. Her ear infections are manageable but sometimes they need to be treated. Having to do this is really hard for me but I need to as I can't give her the best possible care anymore.
I have had her since she was a puppy (was told she is pure bred) and has been well cared for. She is spayed, up to date on all her vaccinations, heartworm negative, and loves all ages (kids to adults) and is potty trained. She adapts well to all situations and gets along with both cats and dogs. The only non-humans she likes to chase is flies! She does very well with kids of all ages and loves running after them around the yard when playing.
Below are some more facts about her.
1. Potty trained; will not go to the bathroom unless she is taken outside. She will sit and stare at you or nudge you with her nose or place her paw on your foot to get your attention to be taken out.
2. Loves to play with her toys and knows how to fetch them. She will bring a toy to you and start barking to let you know she wants to play.
3. Very loving personality and playful, loves to play with kids and be petted by them.
4. Walks well on a leash.
5. Will sit around family during down times and sleeps anywhere.
6. She grew up with a poodle mix dog and a lived with a Siberian husky for a while.
7. Alerts when an unknown person is in the area and when the doorbell rings or someone knocks.
8. Gets along with other dogs and does not mind cats but she prefers to play with people until she gets to know other dogs.
9. She is very patient and will move away when something/someone is annoying her except when the annoyance is persistent, she will just bark to voice her displeasure.
10. Knows the following phrases: “Do you want to go outside?”, “Be quiet.”, “Move back.”, “Do you want a carrot/treat?”, “Come inside.”, “Where’s your toy?”, “Get away.”, “Get out.”
11. Knows the following words: “Sit.”, “Wait.”, “Paw.”, “Move.”, “Out.”
12. Has food and environmental allergies.
13. Only eats Royal Canine Rabbit and Potato dry food. She eats twice a day with carrot slices sprinkled in her meal.
14. Can only have the following treats: apples, carrots, potatoes (sweet or white), green beans, canned pumpkin.
15. Cannot eat table food or any treats besides what is listed above or her allergies flare up.
16. Has ear infections and irritated eyes due to allergies.
17. Needs to have ears washed twice weekly with Epi-Otic Advanced ear cleaner.
She would make a great addition to any home!
