Yes. I'm using Tweetie - decent interface & workflow, and supports multiple accounts. It's not a free app, but it's only USD$2.99.

Personally, and not taking anything away from AB, I find the whole idea of twittering terribly sad. Who needs to know what I am doing 24 hours a day? Who CARES what I am doing 24 hours a day outside of my wife? Who needs to send out messages like "Am shopping for some milk now. Then will have a hamburger" to 100 friends doing the same thing? I really do not understand the appeal.

Perhaps this is a bit generational- and btw I do not mean to hijack this thread. I'm 55, a doctor working in a health care educational institution, and not only do I not twitter, I rarely carry a cell phone. I don't use a debit card, and I still have a land line. While I do operate a blog as part of my responsibilities (tlchiro.blogspot.com), I also feel that some blogs are truly boring and about people who tell other people about the mediocrity of their life. I just don't see what is so important about my doings that everyone should share in it; I'm sort of private and prefer to remain that way.

For someone like AB, I can see the appeal. But to be clear, it is about marketing, right? She has a book coming out, and this creates a relation between her and those who follow her. It makes it seem like she is a friend, and of course that is the word that facebook and myspace uses, right- "friend." But most of us will never be Amber Benson's friend in the real sense of word, just her digitial "friend"- and I take no issue with her, because I know she does care for her fans.

I never thought I would be a luddite, but I apparently am! Oy!

Honestly, Dana, I don't think Amber is the type to post "overly often" on either her blog or her twitterfeed; I don't think she'll put up the boring "Willow's meal diary" type stuff. Then again I know next to nothing about these things myself and yeah, I hate to say it but it might _be_ a generational thing. Hope not tho :-).

It is indeed a generational thing (I, too, am past the half century mark ). I consider it a major acomplishment that I can turn the computer on and access the internet.

The younger generation simply doesn't get this (and by "younger generation" I include those whipper-snappers in their 30s, dag nabbit).

Christ I didn't think I was that old but I agree with Dana5140 - not that you're old, I mean I don't know how old you are but then Daddycat alluded to a lack of excitement over thiis as being generational etc... But I agree with you that it is all about marketing. I have a 'real life' friend who is a somewhat well know musician and she has like 50 million friends on Facebook, MySpace - I'm sure it's only a matter of time before she's 'Twittering' too. And people do really feel like she's their mate when really they don't know each other from Adam. It's great free publicity though. However I have enough distractions without knowing whether or not AB or Stephen Fry or my friend has just eaten a sandwich etc. And you're right about the privacy thing - you can't fart on Facebook without everyone you know calling you a big geek (okay that was about my score on the Buffy roling quiz). See I'm such a sucker - I'll probably be twittering before the week's out My excuse is my PhD thesis-induced isolation - one more year and out....

I think it doesn't matter what you do as long as you feel good and don't make anyone else feel bad.

Twittering feels good and if anyone else feels bad about it they're free not to tweet

LOL. See, the blog is really an internal project used for supporting faculty development efforts; the website is used mainly to provide access to various documents for the courses I teach, So I put my own personal interests down at the bottom: Running/Cross Country and Track (my older twins, now 28, were top runners in high school and college and even now are running 2.35 marathons), bicycling (I ride RAGBRAI every summer), rock climbing, progressive music (long live Magma), etc., etc., and Buffy. That last usually is the one that stops people cold when I tell them.

I could, you know, twitter them about it....
