Signs you are a W/T addict

Okay, so I feel very, very nervous starting a new thread as I have yet to do so on this board. Frankly, this board scares me a little because it's been around for so long and you kittens are all so great and I only discovered W/T last year so who the hell am I to say anything....but I digress. All I can say is that I am addicted to these characters. I eat, sleep and breathe them everyday. This has not happened to me since I was 14 years old and I got into The X-Files, but even that does not compare. So I thought it would be funny to start a thread about how one knows one is truly addicted to W/T. Seriously, friends and acquaintances think I'm crazy 'cause I talk about them all of the time. I even mentioned my obessession to my shrink. They would all probably like to get me into some 12 step program. Don't be too hard on me here, this is not a joke.

So here goes....What are some signs you are a W/T addict/junkie?

1. You have made 5 mix cd's devoted to the characters and plan on making more. You listen to these whenever you get the chance and you make other people listen to them.

2. You have over 300 W/T, A/A pics downloaded onto your crappy computer and you look for new ones everyday. You also have these pics set as desktop backgrounds which rotate every 15 minutes. (Oh yeah, and you downloaded software which allows you to have rotating desktops just so you don't have to manually change the pics everyday)

3. You watch the above mentioned pics in a Slide Show with music playing in the background on a regular basis (especially after a night of drinking) and you talk to yourself while watching them and say stuff like, "They're so cute!" and "Oh, I love that one!"

4. You have watched every W/T scene in slow motion. You have analyzed these scenes and have written essay-type ramblings about them in your journal. You could compile all of these ramblings into a book. Throughout these ramblings you randomly write things like, "Oooh, Amber in cargo pants, boots and baseball T, hot!" or "Alyson Hannigan is the greatest actress of all-time. She is so underrated."

5. You download the dailies from BTVS so you can watch A/A in action. You watch take after take hoping to hear Aly say, "shit" or utter some other curse word.

6. You bring up W/T every chance you get to people who could care less about them and they actually think you're starting to sound crazy. They groan and roll their eyes as soon as you say, "Well, Willow and Tara...." These friends tell other people you are "obsessed with Buffy" and you angrily correct them and emphasize that you are only "obsessed" with W/T. This makes you feel better but causes others to question your sanity.

7. You live on The Kitten Board and freak out when the server is slow and you can't get on the board when you want to. (You don't even think of the fact that your computer probably runs slow because you have so many W/T pics and vids downloaded onto it.)

8. As you fall asleep at night you think about W/T and the scenes you didn't get to see on the show. You think endlessly about what really happened when Willow stayed the night during "The I in Team" or about what was going on in "Tough Love" before we see Willow sitting on the bed putting her boots on and putting her earrings back in.

9. You post threads like these on a board where people are probably saying to themselves, "You only discovered them last year?!"

10. You worry that the next relationship you get into won't be fulfilling because it won't compare to the undying love W and T shared. (And based on this list the chances for me even getting into another relationship again are slim. )

That's all I can think of for now. I think that's enough actually. I'd love to hear other people's signs. I can't be the only one, right?

I so agree with number 10! That's what I do in some relationship ship's, Im always thinking "oh I wish this was so willow and tara!" And I compare all the time. But you know, nothing can ever really be Willow/Tara, if you go looking for it, never gonna happen. Although it would be nice hehe.

I like this thread, don't worry about what other's think. Also, I must state that I didn't even like W/T when the relationship first came about, I disliked them ALOT Im so ashamed hehe And started REALLY liking them after I came out, this was around the 6th season so...eep!!

3. You are actually considering writing a short uber fic featuring TaraBladder and WillowColon.

4. You are planning on naming your first daughter Willow.

5. You make sassy eggs for breakfast.

6. You work in snippets of WT dialogue into your daily conversations. No one knows but you.

When reading a novel with two women as the main characters (i.e., a bit of lesbian fiction), you replace those characters in your mind with W and T...regardless of the physical description provided by the author.

OMG, you guys crack me up! I was seriously getting all neurotic and stressed out that this thread wouldn't go over well and people would think I was actually nuts or that the use of the word "addict" was offensive or something like that. (Can you tell I over-think things?) Thanks so much for the responses, keep 'em coming! And Sally, I've had those dreams but I can't ever tell if I'm W or T or if the girls in my dreams are Amber or Aly. I'm so confused.

Well, I had one of THOSE dreams the night of Dec. 30 2005 and I also couldn't tell if it was exactly Tara or Amber playing opposite me (ahem, cough cough), and I woke up and was like "Whoa" and told some kittens about it in chat on New Year's Eve, and was encouraged to write it up as a short fic, and hence "A Dream Come True" was born. The first few paragraphs of that fic are pretty much my dream verbatim, blow by blow (so to speak).

I was a little worried that I was a bit too addicted to WT at that point. For sure.

And dorksrcool, I relate to the feelings you described - I, too, was late to the WT party and the fanfic party and only started getting into it all in a big way in, oh, April 2005? But as I'm sure you know the people on this board are really nice and fun and welcoming and accepting. Plus this thread is way fun and was a great idea.

I'm also a late bloomer...I found Buffy/WT fan fic just about a year ago. Before that, I was all about the Xena fic.

I wrote a 75 page treatise deconstructing the W/T relationship to help me understand my being under the spell of their Elysian union.

I too will work Willow/Tara or Amber/Aly into everyday conversation whenever I see an opening.

My bedroom walls are covered in W/T screen captures I've had framed.

Okay okay....so I do check board at work....and sometimes I use lines from W/T scens....though I used to do it more with Xena's lines....


Still...this is very upsetting...here I thought that I was addicted beyond repair..... but apperantly...I'm not... ...

2. You can quote almost every line that Aly or Amber ever uttered during the show, and quite a few outside the show.
3. Your bookmarks are almost entirely filled with pages from Pens.
4. The only time you ever use any Microsoft Office application is write fic.
5. You have drawn a map of Sunnydale an pinpointed all the 'important' W/T locations.
8. You have drawn a plan of Tara's room so that you can get the geography right in your fic writing.
9. You can't find the 'W' and 'T' keys by sight on your keyboard anymore because you've worn the markings off.
10. No. 9 is not an problem because you know off by heart exactly where those keys are without having to figure it out.

You are drooooooooooooooling over the thought of such a compilation, and wondering how to bribe, cajole, wrangle, convince, or even simply politely ask The_Lord_J to burn you a copy, even though you two don't know each other.

Also, something happened to me last night that I thought I'd add to this thread. I was hanging out with a few friends and we were listening to music in my room which I was playing on my computer. As I mentioned before, I have over 300 W/T, A/A pics downloaded and set in rotation as my desktop background. There was a pic on the screen from the ep "Crush" where W, T and B are at school talking about The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Tara stops at the vending machine, doesn't have money, Willow sees this, and hands her some change. One of my friends said, "So what's going on in that picture?" She wanted to know why Willow was handing something to Tara and why Tara looked so pleased. I explained the entire scene in great detail to her. I said, "So, it was really sweet because even though Willow was preoccupied with talking to Buffy, she still noticed that Tara needed change." My friends said, "Wow, I can't believe you know that much about a single scene, and that you have analyzed all of the characters motivations and stuff." I didn't even feel weird or anything, I was quite proud of myself.

So yeah, I'm a W/T addict and I don't care!

I think the fact that the kitten board is still around shows how many of us really are addicted. And that's pretty cool.

That's something I've always wanted to do but I'm not very technically minded.

You're officially obsessed. Unfortunately I can't write but when I'm bored at work I spend my time coming up with different ways to give W/T a happy future. It can get very silly and soapy but I like it and it's always better than season 6 of Buffy.

4. When you call your partner you Willow and they call you their Tara
5. When your computer crashes because you have to much W/T pictures and Video Clips
6. When you plan to call your first girl Amber
7. When you pay £20 for a post it note (you remember that don't you Sn0wflak3) to see ambers new film.
8. When you spend 3 years trying to hide the fact you're gay only to have your friends realise because you won't be quiet about W/T
9. When you start dancing at an A level choices evening when you saw that someone did their Sociology Coursework on W/T

And that compilation is on it's way. Started at Hush, I'm up to Goodbye Iowa so far. It does make you realise how few W/T scenes there are per episode...mostly like one or two per ep in early season 4 (except Hush which is huge of course, and I suspect NMR might be almost completely intact).

The problem is that I have almost no webspace, certainly not enough to host a vid of this size (Hush alone is 48Mb). SO, the options are thus:
1. I email it to someone who has some webspace and they upload it
2. You all come and get it off me on IRC (bad idea, I have a very slow connection)
3. I compile a list of email addresses of people who want it, then I can just attach it to an email once (thereby saving myself massive amounts of uploading time) and CC it to you all.
4. I keep it all to my greedy little self

Hey guys,

When I first got hooked on W/T, I found a site that has pretty much all their clips from the show.

He's got a bunch of other clips as well of Amber and Alyson from different shows and specials. The clips are in WMV and Real Player.

Before I was able to edit vids together, I'd sit and watch these clips over and over again; plus it helped out when I first started writing my fic, they made really good reference points. Enjoy!


And to add to the list of signs of addiction:

1. I find that I want to make a Willow and Tara vid to practically every song I hear.

2. I can see which scenes can fit each verse, what effects to use, and how to time it.

3. I have commited every look, touch, kiss, hug, walk, smile, and laugh between the two them to memory, seeing that I already have all their scenes on my computer, ready to edit at the drop of a hat.

4. I plan to remaster all my vids using DVD quality video from the Chosen box set I got for Christmas, so everyone can watch our ladies in HIGH DEFINITION!

So after going back and reading all that, I think I sound more like a computer/audiovisual techno geek than a rabid W/T addict.

Second, I want to say to Foo that if you have the time and energy and want to go ahead and make W/T vids to every song you hear then I think that'd be fabulous! As you know, I LOVE your vids.
