Alyson Hannigan Appreciation Thread

This board is here because of the Willow and Tara relationship. A relationship that means so much to so many good people. Alyson Hannigan, like Amber Benson, has always been supportive of Willow and Tara, through her interviews it is clear she knows how much they mean to the gay community and to anyone who loves the true love Willow and Tara share.



Willow and Tara give hope, she gives hope, and she is kind to the people touched by her work. Always. She has portrayed Willow in a way that defies words, she is a brilliant actress and a kind wonderful woman, a rare and precious combination.



She won't read this, I have never met her and I very likely never will, but I want to express my thanks this way. So, thank you. Thank you for giving life to Willow, thank you for giving life to Willow and Tara, thank you for being who you are and for reminding me there is beauty in this world.

Oh, good, we need to show both actresses our appreciation, without Aly, we wouldn't have Willow, which would also mean no Tara.



Alyson/Willow is the reason I started watching Buffy, and the reason I'll continue watching it, at least until Willow is no longer on the show.

I can't even begin to explain how much I love WIllow. She can break my heart and make me laugh at the same time. The writers give her speech, but Alyson gives her soul. This is a wonderful character played by an amazing actress. Nothing that can happen in S6 will change that for me.

Well, everybody knows that the whole show would never have worked without Willow, even if the show is called Buffy.



And Willow wouldn't have worked if not Aly gave her her charms. All the emotion Aly is able to transport through her acting is amazing. All kinds of emotion as just recently shown (pain, joy, love, lust, it's all there, and it's all so real).

That is what makes Willow who she is, and that is why we all love her. And of course the cuteness factor that is Aly just makes you swoon (see the tongue poke in xita's pic) .

So thanks for being part of the equation that brought the concept of true-love/soul-mates to the show, it is greatly appreciated! You have amazing talent, and no matter what horrid story-line ME puts Willow through your talent will always shine through.

Yay! A Willow appreciation thread! Willow rocks- Although she has grown so much from season one I am glad to see that she has some insecurites when it comes to relationships. This is something that most people can relate to.

Alyson - you were an inspiration to me over the past five years, and I am apalled at what the writers have been forcing you to do over the past year. Nonetheless, you have handled every curveball they've thrown at you in a way that stays as true to the character of Willow as is humanly possible. My disappointment with the show is completely independent from my respect for you, your portrayal of Willow, and your interaction on the show with Amber. No matter what road Willow takes on the show, we will always love the real Willow. Willow is the main reason that I went back and watched all the pre-Tara episodes. She was my favorite character then and is my favorite of the remaining crew. Her kindness, bravery, loyalty, and perfect love for Tara will always remain in my memory.

Willow is what drew me to W/T in the first place, since she has always been one of my favorite BTVS actors.



Form the first Buffy episode I've seen I was immediately enamored to this shy, clever girl and the way she spoke and her mannerisms. BTVS trulty wouldn't work without Aly in the role of Willow (as demonstrated in the original pilot, where the other actress that was due to play the role completly lacked AH charisma). Willow has some of the funniest and some of the most tragic moments, and AH's acting range allows her to play the full emotional impact of every scene she's in.



Willow is the reason I'll keep watching the show, because I simply have to see where she'll eventually end up.

I had this long comment typed up, but my computer decided to bugout on me right before I could hit "send" But I'll try and sum it all up again.



I actually went and saw American Pie (and it's sequel) regardless of plot, only because Alyson was in them. (did those movies have a plot?) I sat through all of Haley Wagner, Star just to see Alyson's part, along with those nice abs. (I should get a gold star for not falling asleep before Aly's part finally happened) I loved Alyson's acting in Beyond the City Limits as well. She is such a wonderful actress, and breaths life into every role she accepts.



I started watching BtVS because of her role as Willow. Her acting in that role will be the ONLY reason I continue to watch. (if I do continue to watch, since I'm still undecided on that right now)



I know that acting is Alyson's job. I also know that nobody could do it quite so well if they didnt love what they were doing, and had a LOVE for the character they are portraying. I feel the love Alyson has for the character of Willow, and that is what keeps me glued to my set each week.



So a big "Thank you Alyson Hannigan" for being the person you are.

Aly Hannigan is probably the best actress I've ever seen.



Period.



I'm a huge cinema buff, I've seen piles and piles and more piles of movies, and never before Aly had I witnessed such talent. She is incredible. She reminds me that acting is indeed an art, and that she mastered it like very few people have. There's never been anyone quite like her, and I don't think there ever will be.



Willow is the one who got me hooked to the show. I've been watching from day one, and always I've loved Willow, and the light that Aly brings to her. Even now, in the season of Hell, she is so wonderful. If I do keep watching, she will be the reason.



I feel so blessed that it was her who became our Willow, and that Amber became our Tara : it's a gift from above that these two were the ones to portray this beautiful, powerful love.



In fewer words : Aly is unique, precious and I thank her for bringing so much joy into my life for the past 6 years.



I'd even go see American Pie 29 if ever there is one, were she in it.*g*

One that took a part that people just did not get and made it one of the most unique and brilliant characters ever on TV. And the reason I stuck with Buffy from the start. you're all much more articulate than me, and I agree. The only reason to watch American Pie was Alyson, I started watching buffy because of her, and I'm so confident in her, I believe she can even pull off the DMW we all are going to hate, somehow. Because she's awesome.

I believe that Alyson Hannigan is one of the finest actresses working today in any medium. When she cries I cry, when she laughs I laugh.



Willow was the reason I came back for the 2nd episode of Buffy, not SMG, not NB or ASH, Aly. I saw the potential immediately, the sweet, charming, caring, beautiful Willow and the wonderful innocence Aly gave her, Aly is the reason I have watched this show ever since (plus Amber of course, but that's for the other thread!)



I know that once the travesty that is now Buffy is over, Aly will never be out of work, she will go from strength to strength and be recognised as the superb actress and she truly is and I will follow her progress and support her as much as I can.



So thank you Aly, thank you for giving me Willow, ME may have created the character, but you gave her life and soul, and for that I am truly grateful.

I started watching Buffy because of Willow and Tara. At the time I started watching, FX began running the series from the beginning, so I was able to catch up on the storylines. I was immediately captivated by Willow because of Aly's performance.



The detail and subtlety she brings to this character is amazing. The range of emotion Aly can portray is simply staggering. It's easy to say you like this character or that character, but I love Willow. Aly has brought her to life and endeared her to me forever.



Thank you Aly for your dedication, creativity and honesty in this portrayal. I may not like where Willow is heading, but I trust you will give us your all, with whatever happens. You are truly a gifted actress and I will continue to enjoy your work for years to come.

Alison is one of the best actresses on TV, she brings a sweet sentimental passion to the show, that I just haven't seen anyone else portray.
