New Fic: Retribution and Reward

[Lisa of Nine]

Hi All.
I just wanted to let you all know that I just posted a new completed story to my Willow/ Tara page.
It's called "Retribution and Reward" and takes place after 'the Gift.' Buffy is back, and Willow learns that there is a high price to pay for her using dark magic. This is my response to all of the speculation that Willow will be the new 'Big Bad' next season. I thought the payment I have her pay would hurt much more. Don't you just love angst?

I've read this, and boy is it good. Well, bnot that it's a surprise, seeing how everything you write kicks ass, but still...*g* Espescially loved the characterization (urgh, spelling) in this one ; it really has an 'episode' feel to it, whereas Bound or TOTG are more like epics....
anyway, I won't spoil it for you guys, but get ready for some quality Tara/Willow action here.

And no, I don't mean *that* kind of.. well, now that you mention it...*g*

Nice work, Lisa. I really enjoyed the future scenario, what with Angel getting sunburn and all, heh heh.

Just a couple of things:

Do you always include cliffhangers in your stories? I've noticed a bit of a trend in your fic that way.

And Spike at one point says "For the love of Mike." Don't get me wrong, it's not really a criticism but I believe the saying here is "For the love of Pete." Although you know, I don't have a clue who Mike and/or Pete are...

Anyway, there you have it.

I love this story Lisa! You are one of the great fic writers!

I did have a lot of trouble with Tara being so sadistic while possessed. It really gave me the wiggins and I had to stop reading for a while. It was way too realistic and cruel when she was torturing Willow. well as real as this stuff can seem with Vamps, witches and all.

Your last chapter was awesome. Tara pregnant and both she and Will the real parents! Wow!
I loved how Willow thought Tara was sexy while pregnant. So in character for her!

I always love when Buffy catches them making love! Hysterical! Buffy and her slayer vision remembering the hickey! hehe

Anyway, I always love your stories and wanted to say thanks a bunch!

To answer your questions:
Yes, I try to put a mini cliffhanger at the end of each chapter. I like the readers to want to keep reading. I also try to resolve the cliffhanger in the next chapter so no one gets cranky. *G*
As for "For the love of Mike," Here in the US I have only heard "For Pete's sake." I haven't heard "for the love of Pete." Could be a regional thing. I have a sweet friend from Ireland who actually says "For the love of Mike," so I cheated and had Spike use it. I'm not sure what an English vamp would say. If any British Kitties know, please let me know. Also I think Mike is Saint Michael,(Geeze..IS there a st. Mike?) and Pete is Saint Peter...but I just kinda' thought that. I have no real clue. Could be Pete and Mikey from "the Monkey's" for all I know. *G*

It's great to see Willtara folks here. I love seeing familiar faces... well... familiar screen names...but well..you know what I mean. I loved writing the 5 years into the future scenes. The last chapter was the reward for surviving reading evil Tara's nasty deeds. *G*

Poor Buffy. I just love embarrassing her.

I did a ton or research on all of those things. I try to base most of the central myths in my stories on real legends. Most of the incantations in this story were actual incantations I found. The great rite spell was from two books I have. (Just so you know, generally the Great Rite is symbolic and the participants don't really have sex. A chalice and athame are substituted.) The Jinni information was mostly from existing myth. I did make up some of it for dramatic license. There's a lot of stuff about the Jinn in the Kuran if you're interested. I saw an online picture of a real Jinn in a cave. (That was on a site that was like an Islamic national Inquirer page. The Jinn was all scary and had pointy ears and was up on the roof scowling. I lost that page but it was cool.)

Ok I've read it finally. Puff told me in a nutshell what it was about, and I must confess I did not relish the thought of a story in which Tara turns evil, even knowing it wasn't really Tara. It's the fake 'W/T will break up and Tara is evil blah blah' spoiler thing that has me edgy.

Warduke got me to read it though, and I am ever so glad I did. It really is a wonderful story. I was rivited. I loved it all. I believe the love between Willow and Tara *is* true love and the way you described it was just perfect.

They are lovers, always have been, always will be. Oh yeah...

Well, after they talked you into reading my story, I am so glad (and relieved) that you liked it. I know evil Tara was hard to take and she was...well...evil *G* but I wanted to see a payment for Willow's use of dark magic that would truly make her sorry. I really think if Willow was to become 'the next Big Bad' it wouldn't hurt Willow nearly as much as it would hurt Tara, and that got me thinking...and this story was the result.
Glad you liked it, and by the way, I think Willow and Tara do share a true love that would last through every life. (Well, if they weren't fictional characters, but then everyone has a flaw or two.)

I'd be interested to know what you think of my other stuff. I'm pretty much a big mush-ball, and my stories reflect that, but I do always manage to put in a teeny tiny bit of angst. Okay, maybe more than a bit.

I think the reason that 'Tara' and 'Willow' seem so real is because of the incredible acting ability of Ms. Benson and Ms. Hannigan, and the wonderful scripts they get from the writers. I will say that some of the scripts haven't given them much to work with, but these two talented actresses make the characters, and their love, truly come alive. Kudos to them!

I hope my writing does the characters justice. I feel like they deserve only the best.

I'd be interested to know what you think of my other stuff. I'm pretty much a big mush-ball, and my stories reflect that, but I do always manage to put in a teeny tiny bit of angst. Okay, maybe more than a bit.

I think the reason that 'Tara' and 'Willow' seem so real is because of the incredible acting ability of Ms. Benson and Ms. Hannigan, and the wonderful scripts they get from the writers. I will say that some of the scripts haven't given them much to work with, but these two talented actresses make the characters, and their love, truly come alive. Kudos to them!

I hope my writing does the characters justice. I feel like they deserve only the best.
