Ask ANY Question Stress Free. (But Please Read the First Pos

Postby Lilith » Wed Mar 20, 2002 5:26 pm

Hello! I'm a big W/T fan and I listen to "I'm Under Your Spell" at least once a day. My friends and I have been arguing over one line in the song for a month now. The line is "Surging like the sea ???????? you so helplessly. I watched the song on my tv with closed captioning and it said "wanting you so helplessly",then there's a web site and it says "brought to you.." and I personally thought it was "I'm holding you so helplessly". I was just wondering if anyone knows what she is actually saying.

"Surging like the sea, *pulled* to you so helplessly" -

I remember that from the shooting script, and listening to it a bajillion times while I was Filking the song for my own Weevil Porpoises.

Xita and other mods:

Wow, I just stumbled onto this thread, and as a person who has felt more than a little tension coming from many members of the otherwise wonderful Kitten community, I would like to thank you for coming up with this thread.... quite brilliant really.

I hardly know what to do with my newfound freedom, as I have so many questions.... Ill have to take some time to think about it....

But very well done....

Thank you.

Ok, I've read the FAQ, and I've tried to do this 3 or 4 times now and I can't get it right. If you just want to quote a portion of a post, like maybe a couple of sentences, how do you do it? Every time I try, I wind up quoting the entire post. Also, how do you bold the text of the item you want to quote?

Howdy Rosenberg. To make a word or phrase bold, put [ b ] around what you want to be bold [ / b ], but take out the spaces between the letter B and the left and right brackets I've put in here. Also, it's important that the / gets put in (left bracket, / B, right bracket, again no spaces) at the end, it "closes" or "ends" the bold command. "quote" works the same way, except instead of the letter B it uses the whole word [ QUOTE ] to open and [ / QUOTE ] to close (or begin and end depending on how you think of these things)

When you use the "reply with quote" option, the board automatically adds both "quote" and "bold" to the entirety of the post you're replying to. If you just want to quote a little bit of that post, just delete all the bits you don't want from between the [ QUOTE ][ B ] Blah blah stuff someone said blah. [ / B ][ / QUOTE ] (again, I added spaces so you could see what I'm typing, to get these codes to work, type them without spaces, and don't forget the / to close them)

You can add "quote" manually as well. If I split your post into two parts, then put a new "end" [ / QUOTE ] at the end of the first part and a new "beginning" [ QUOTE ] at the start of the second part, I can then insert a comment of my own in between.

See, I can respond to one little thought, and then...

quote:

...respond to another little part. And notice how I just deleted out "If you just want to quote a portion of a post, like maybe a couple of sentences, how do you do it?" in the second part of the quote.

As a matter of honesty and politeness, if you're deleting a lot of someone's quote in your reply, many people say something like "(snippage (or cut) for length)" or put .... (ellipses) to indicate that it's fragment of a larger statement. Like this:

(ellipses)

Anyway, I probably rambled on too long, I hope this wasn't confusing. If you make a mistake, you can always go back and edit the little code things. If it's hopelessly messed up and frustrating, a mod can go into your post and fix it as well.

To quote just bits of a post, the way I do it anyway, is to click on the quote icon, and then highlight and delete the bits of the post that I don't want to quote. I don't think there's an easy way to quote only portions of the post without first quoting the whole thing and then physically removing the parts you don't want.

hope that helps!

edited to say: len, you certainly beat me there! you're post was a lot more explanatory than mine!

Well, the other way to quote parts of a post without the whole thing would be to just cut-and-paste, and then put the quoted portions in bold, or surround the quoted portion with the commands quote and /quote (surrounded by [ ]brackets, of course.)

Just want to say thanks to everyone who explained how to quote another posters comments. I too read the faq, but was still I little confused how to use it, but now feel more confidant in using the quotes. Also like to say I think this thread is a great idea, so thanks again.

Ok, I have a question.

I read this board daily. It is the only buffy board I read.
Do I need to sign up for the Willow/Tara mailing list? Am I missing anything?

Ok, that is two questions really.

I just don't see it, that girl does not look like Amber at all, we talked about it in chat one night, and no one there thought that those pics were of Amber either.

And if it is Amber, then like Sela said, it's a combination of makeup, lighting, and angles, and not a very good combination I'm afraid.

I had the same reaction when I first saw these pics, and it was actually brought up at The Essence of Amber Forum. I believe Little Willow said that it was indeed Amber. It's from Teen Magazine 1998. Here's the URL for the pics and for the blurb. http://www.efanguide.com/~amber/ateen.html

I agree; it's all just a very bad combination of factors.

We're so used to seeing Amber in very 'natural' makeup - earthy, nothing too red or splashy - and with a certain tone and cast to her expressions. These photos are Amber well in the opposite direction - bright lipstick, lots of eyebrow, with a pouty, teen-cliche look.

It's Amber Benson's face under all that, yes, but very little of her personality.

Yeah, gotta agree, not real flattering. I dunno, the Amberness doesn't really come through. I believe it's her...it *sorta* looks a bit like her...if you squint real hard

Yah. I played around a bit, and I think that if you hit this intro page at any point during a browser session, even for an instant, the red folders appear whenever you hit the thread index after that, even if not following a link on the intro page. Your pages go directly to the intro page, and my bouncing up a level hit it. I'm not a huge fan, though. I think I'll gratiously save you some bandwith and just keep jumping straight to the thread index. quote:

For the smiley icons: novogate is set to interpret certain combinations of letters/characters as a code to show a certain pic. So if you put a : next to a ), it reads it shows up as

If you look to the left when you are on the screen to post a reply or message, you'll see a link that says Smiles Legend. It'll give you all the combinations of symbols.

Also, there is the cracks smiles link at the top of the page. It has pics you can link to that will appear in your posts. If you go there, you click on the pic, and it'll give you the whole code you need to cut and paste to your message to get that picture.

I have a question. . .I keep seeing mentions of shooting scripts, and I was just wondering where, if possible, I could get them. I know season 1 and 2 are published in books, but what about the rest? I would LOVE to see some shooting scripts. Thanks, Grace

Oh bugger, those freaky pics , if I squint really hard and look cross eyed and press my nose to the screen I still do not see Amber in them, it is just one of life's little mysteries I guess.

Anyway, Grace and to anyone in general if you are looking for W/T or general BtVS links, check out the Kitten Board's Links Page as linked at the top of the board. The sites on that page should get you to just about every corner of Buffyverse if you use the links on those sites as well.

Psyche's site is linked on our links page, there you should find what you seek.

I'm just wondering if any other Brits are having problems obtaining their copy of the ASH CD.

My gf ordered it from the website when it was still on pre-order. We've heard nothing since, even after writing them twice and asking for an update on the order. We e-mailed them again about two weeks ago and they still haven't replied.

If you are talking about our very own official Kitten Board T-shirt as slept in by Amber Benson herself, go to the Kitten Home Page and look to your left.

If you have no means by which to pay, you'd be hard pressed to buy anything, wherever you live.

If you have a credit or debit card you can buy things in dollars, and it'll get converted into pounds. That's the only way I can think of, short of sending money or a money order overseas.

You should be able to get an international money order from a high street bank.

Or, find a friend or parent who is willing to let you use their credit card. It's very easy that way and all you have to do is hand over the cash to them.
