12 step support for the spoiler-free - Part 2

Postby supermus » Fri Mar 22, 2002 5:26 pm

Yeah that's right. Drat, I thought that would be hard. The episode is "Goodbye Iowa", episode 14 of season 4. Anyone got a better challenge?

------------------
Spike: I say we go out there and kick a little demon ass! What, can't go without your Buffy, is that it? Too chicken? Let's find her! She is the Chosen One after all. Come on! Vampires! Grrr! Nasty! Let's annihilate them. For justice - and for - the safety of puppies and Christmas, right? Let's *fight* that evil! - Let's *kill* something!

Okay.... You want a hard question?
What does the Nerd Troijka's periscope in "flooded" say?
You can guess. It certainly isn't common knowledge. Just, I saw it, or at least I thought I did, and thought, "sneaky Joss."
I only saw it once, mind you, but I'm convinced...

I should wear this apron more often....

I can't quite make it out. To me it looks like Mulblk. Or Maybe Nulbik. Am I close? cuz neither of those makes any sense. Though now the M/N looks more like an F so maybe Fulbik. Or Fuibik.

Mmmmm. wrong alphabet. it should look like this:
TbIbIk only, if you chop the beginning of the "T" off. More like an upside down L.

yes?
think transliteration of an english word....

two questions
one: What alphabet should I be using?
two: What's transliteration?
supermus

Postby Owl » Fri Mar 22, 2002 8:18 pm

two answers:
1) cyrillic
2) transliteration is when you use the letters of one alphabet to represent the sounds of another.
Example: "PeCTOPAH" (cyrillic) would be transliterated as "RESTORAN" in English.
by the same token, "RESTAURANT" in english would transliterate as "PeCTAPAHT" in Russian.
uh... did that make sense to anyone who isn't me?

Okay, if that's an upside down L, not a t, and those bls are bl, not b followed by l, then it transliterates into giik(i think).
Ah. I'm an idiot. Giik, with the i's together like that, would be pronounced geek! .

That is correct! I really wish I'd thought up a good prize. Any suggestions?
Incidentally, how'd you figure it out? and... btw, it's an odd spelling... the letter "yuri" (bI) sounds like "oi" if you say it when someone is strangling you. so, it's like goiik. weird. but isn't Joss sneaky?

Um.
What were the boys looking at?

*sidling up to Owl for choccie cheesecake*
I need to feed my ego so what's better than chocolate?
*flopping down in the cuddle-puddle of trivially-disadvantaged dancing girls... and kitties, if there are any*

Did the snorkelling happen yet or is it a little late?

Ooooh Trivia paradise...

Glad that the goo isn't what I thought it was though.

Here is an easy one... When was the first time that the ME monster didn't go GRRR AGGGH? And what did it do instead?

It was in "Becoming part 2" and the monster said pitifully "I need a hug."

Do I get a prize?

Katharyn, I have to say how much I'm loving "Sidestep". I started reading the latest chapter, but it's very long, and it's very late here and I have a Bar Mitzvah to go to tomorrow morning. So, I will catch up with the dark ficcy angst tomorrow evening.

So, Shabbat shalom (peaceful sabbath), laila tov (good night), and chalomot m'tukim (sweet dreams) to all the island kitties.

Ok, running into thread late (as usual)but at least i sorta know the answer.

Ok, after Season 2, it said ohh, I need a hug (cause og Buffy sending Angel to Hell)

and in season three, it wore a Christmas hat after Amends and a graduation cap after Graduation Part 2. And then in OMWF it did that nice singing grr arg arg.

But my favourite is Tara's impression of it .

Ok, am going snokerling and still eating all of Owl's cakes

This is why trivia is good. I don't know the answer, but all I have to do is ask!

Nocturnal snorkelling. Is that even proper english? *shrug* This is the linguistically enhanced group, so I'm sure someone can tell me!

I wonder if there are any glowy fish under there...?

And I agree that Tara's Grrr Argh was the best.

There is indeed a prize... Cheesecake and a snorkel for Pixie...

And thankyou for the free advertising! I would not be so crass as to advertise it here twice, but as you did it for me.... "Sidestep" by your's truly (ably mused by the Captain) available now on Pens...

And yup... Tara's GRRR AGGH has to be one of my fave moments of this season. Wierd huh?

Next Question... (gee there was a time it would take the Spoiler Free kitties days to get these!)

Oh! No. He, he was ... yuck.

Who was? Another easy one...

*Gives the Captain a peck on the cheek (she better read all this TLC I am giving her!!) and tries to get out of the hammock without rolling it. Falls on a cushion of discarded space hoppers. Gets on one and bounces to the ocean for snorkling.*

I would like to answer your question. It was Willow. She was talking about Dracula when Tara asked her if she thought Dracula was sexy. LOL, that was a great scene.

that's what I get for going to sleep and then only skimming over the posts. But I believe the answer to your question is the Shelter Club. I Halloween, Oz mentions Dingoes playing at the Shelter Club. Though in Lie To Me, Ford goes to the Sunset Club.

The shelter club is indeed the answer... I thought that would take longer. I figure that the Sunset club was pretty much closed as soon as the lease ran out so it didn;t count.

I must say Supermus, I love that signature! Seems to me I have seen it somewhere before... but the word you excluded definitely makes it flow better.

On screen I would have to agree with the previous answer - heck the only time Sheila was on screen was in "Gingerbread" (though she was heard in "Lie to Me")

However there is a reference in an episode following "The Body" to Willow going home to spend some time with her folks. I don't recall (in episodes I have seen to date) any further mention of either Ira or Sheila.
