Oh man, who wouldn't love a good ride in the park, especially if it was on a voluptuous blonde.

I felt like I was riding right along with them. But tell me, just when did Tara start wearing jeans? You know she's a skirt girl. Jeans can be so confining. Hmmph...of all days.

Great job Evy, but now I'm wondering just what/who is going to be their new neighbor. Hmm...I have a few ideas.

Thanks for the ride sweetie! :wink

Hey folks, thanks a bunch for the feedback.

Food For Thought Part 46

“We have do this more often,” Willow said and dodged another puddle of water in her path. She and Tara had decided to walk to work, both wanting to appreciate the morning sun that had been absent the day before.

The blonde nodded. “Let’s have a picnic,” she smiled at her girlfriend’s sideway glance, “Not today, but you know, maybe this weekend.”

“You’ve planned a lot for the weekend,” the redhead grinned. “So what are you going to cook, anyway?” She asked as they entered the park.

Flashing a lopsided smile, Tara shook her head. “It’s a surprise.” She nudged her pouting girlfriend, “Oh, and no candy before dinner.” Willow’s pout deepened.

“Spoil-sport,” she grumbled.

Hands joined, the women slowly made their way through the park. “Do we have time to play?” Willow asked, smiling.

Tara’s eyes widened, “Here, Willow? Wha- someone might-,” a finger silenced her. Willow giggled, removing her hand.

“I meant, in the park… gutter-brain,” the redhead continued to chuckle. “It’s been a long time since I’ve actually played. I mean, when you get older you’re expected to be serious all the time… which is just boring. So how about it?”

“Do we have enough time?” Tara asked. A tingle of excitement prickled her skin as she grew a little giddy.

Willow nodded, “We have a little, besides I don’t think Anya’s going to be camped out outside the door, eagerly waiting for our arrival.” Smiling, the manager squeezed her partner’s hand, “C’mon, I’ll push you first,” she said as they headed toward the swings.

Tara skipped to catch up and settled into the plastic seat, “Not too fast, okay?” She glanced back to Willow who nodded before giving the first solid push. After a couple of pushes, the blonde was in the air, squealing.

Stepping around to the front to watch as Tara drifted higher and higher, Willow looked up and frowned. “You picked a perfect day to wear jeans,” she grumbled for the second time that morning.

The blonde giggled and dragged her tennis shoes in the dirt to slow herself down and stop. “C’mere,” she gently pulled Willow closer so that she loosely straddled her legs, “Wrap your legs around me.”

“Uh, how is this going to work? There’s nobody to swing us,” Willow nibbled on her bottom lip as she moved, slipping her legs through the snug space between Tara’s hips and the chain of the swing.

“I’ll get us started, just hold on and push with your arms,” Tara worked her legs until they began to slowly gain more speed.

“I can’t believe I’m riding my girlfriend in a public park,” Willow grinned as they rose. With her legs tied firmly around Tara’s back, the redhead pressed down every time they went backwards, pushing them higher.

“Why the heck did I wear jeans today?” Tara muttered to herself when the redhead pressed down again. She was surprised that the swing was holding up as well as it was and even more surprised by the lips that teased her ear.

“Do we hafta go to work?” Willow asked. She allowed her lips to bump her lover’s jawbone, “We can tell them that we’re sick.”

Tara marveled in her girlfriend’s touch, “What are the odds of us both being sick?” Her voice cracked a little. Unable to think of anything, Willow frowned and muttered that she didn’t know as they began to slow down. Once they had come to a complete stop, the redhead sagged against her partner.

“I hate being a grownup,” she sighed and withdrew her legs from behind Tara. Standing shakily, Willow helped the blonde out of the swing. “Are you sore?” She asked when the other young woman rubbed her hips and stretched.

“It’s a nice kind of sore,” Tara smiled, winking. Willow smiled as well, placing a chaste kiss on her girlfriend’s lips when the blonde circled an arm around her lower back.

Leaning into her partner’s side, Willow cupped her hand over the one resting on her right hip. “We’ll have to come back and have a no responsibility day with the others. Ooh, we can even play touch football or something.”

The waitress chuckled, “Yeah, Xander will have a field day chasing us girls around.”

“Well, I am pretty fast,” Willow smiled as they began to walk.

The couple arrived at work on time with five minutes to spare and shuffled back into the kitchen to greet their friends. Buffy was humming a song on the radio while she chopped up vegetables and scooped them into a bowl.

“How was the walk? Glad to see you’ll didn’t get lost and turn around,” she paused what she was doing to grin at her friends. The cook remembered how groggy the two women had been when they left the house and figured it was one of those days.

“It was good,” Willow answered and squeezed her lover’s hand. “We stopped and played a little, but-.”

“Played?” Anya’s ears twitched. She pushed away from the counter. “That’s daring… and it’s about damn time you two did something kinky. I mean, c’mon, I thought-.”

Willow raised a hand, cutting the cashier’s sentence short. “We swung in the park.”

“Bleh,” suddenly uninterested, the blonde returned to the counter, snatching a chunk of carrot from the cutting board as she leaned back.

“Where’s Faith?” Tara asked. She noticed the brunette missing when she and Willow entered the kitchen, but guessed that the waitress was in the restroom.

Buffy glanced over her shoulder, “Oh, she’s running an errand, but she’ll be back soon.”

“Okay, well, we’re going to go set up the front and get everything ready,” the blonde waitress subtly gestured toward the front with her head, grinning when Willow read her mind.

“Yes, we’ll go do that,” Willow said and hurriedly followed behind her girlfriend.

Anya moved to leave as well but a hand stopped her. “Give them five minutes.”

“Why?” The cashier frowned, having obviously missed Tara’s unspoken suggestion.

“Just give them five minutes, okay.” Buffy insisted. Anya rolled her eyes and sagged back into her previous spot. Before she could snatch another piece of carrot, the cook shoved an entire stick into her hand. Shrugging, the blonde wordlessly looked at the carrot before munching away.

An hour later, four bored women found themselves trying to stay awake.

“Where is everyone?” Anya asked and looked around the room, noticing the lack of people. They were usually half full before lunch time, but the number of people coming in had been lower than usual.

The doorbell jingled as Faith entered. “You guys have got to see this,” she said and motioned toward the window. Joining her, the girls peered through the glass.

Anya pressed her face against the glass, “What the hell is that?”

“I think… I think that’s going to be our new neighbor,” Willow answered, surprised as she looked across the street.

Hiya, Evy. I don't think I've left you feedback on this story in ages (or possibly EVER), but it brightens my day whenever I see an update for it. I love the group dynamics as well as the individual characters, who are all so realistically drawn, as are the situations. Love the little moments like the "I spy" game last update (I have those green adidas too!!!) and the impromptu visit to the park.

That was such a great interaction...so THEM (but not in a giant ant way...um...nvm). Can't wait to find out who the new neighbor is...I'm thinking it's either competition or a sex shop.

:paranoid What's the neighbour? Competition? Another health food store? Something crappier like some unhealthy un-Willow-and-Tara-y fast food? I wonder if Anya can be somehow employed as some kind of retail sabotage weapon? :D

It was really nice to see Willow and Tara play - both kinds :drool But the simple out-of-gutter type playing was just so fun, simple and, y'know, enjoying life just because it's there to be enjoyed. Thanks :bow

Evy,

Not only are Willow/Tara down and centered around the girl on girl action as has been graphically illustrated in the pages of this tale before but they, in this latest edifying installment, are also large with the innoccence and childlike wonder of the simple pleasures in life.

They have added hitherto unknown depth and shading to the epithet babes in the woods as Willow/Tara are one of the few couples who can make public swings into a sexual arena.

And then there's cliiffhangery goodness as we await to reveal of who their new neighbor across the street from the diner is?

I was rereading some of the stories here and came across this one. The postings are a little out of order but I was able to catch up. I have really enjoyed this story for its humor and also because I can really picture Willow running a restaurant with all of her friends working with her. Great, great story. *Sorry to disappoint, but I decided not to use the porn shop or competition ideas. Even though they were good, I went with something boring.*

Food for Thought Part 47

Before anyone happened to look over and find a group of people staring at them from the window, the women turned away.

“We should go over there and talk to them. It is the neighborly thing to do,” Anya began, eager to check the place out. “So, who’s with me?” She looked around for any takers.

Tara meekly raised her hand and shrugged when her girlfriend looked at her. “I’m curious,” she said with a quick glance toward the window.

“I guess it couldn’t hurt,” Buffy said, curious as well.

“But we have customers.” Willow looked around the restaurant, “Okay, a customer.”

“I’ll stay and watch the counter,” Faith said although she also wondered about the kind of merchandise the store carried and sold.

“What if the kitchen burns down while we’re over there?” The manager asked, nervously.

“Oh, geez,” Anya huffed. “Look, Tara and I will go,” she said, taking the blonde’s hand. “We’ll go see what’s the what, get the skinny, the dirt, the-.” Buffy lightly touched the cashier’s shoulder.

“We get the point,” the cook said with a nod. Before Willow or anyone could protest, Anya had nearly dragged the blonde out of the door.

“Just to let you know,” Anya leaned over and spoke nonchalantly as they crossed the street, “if these people turn out to be crazy, you’re on your own.”

Tara stopped, her eyes widening. “W-What do you mean?” She asked, watching the other blonde continue toward the store.

“I’m merely saying that if something happens, I can’t be held responsible.” Anya said, holding the door open before entering the store.

“God, this place looks like my grandmother’s living room.” Anya fiddled with ceramic doll and surveyed the cluttered walls as Tara entered behind her. “All they need is a statue of her dead cat Noodles, and some plastic couch-covers.”

Every possible knickknack in all of California seemed like it had been packed into the room and spread along the walls. Rows of bookcases with jam-packed shelves aligned the back and sides of the small store and several boxes had been left out on the floor.

“These people are a bunch of freaks. Look at this,” she held up a wax carving of an eyeless face.

Nervously, Tara looked around, “Maybe we should go. What if we’re not supposed to be here?”

“The door was unlocked,” Anya said, setting the wax head down and moving onto another strange object. “Besides, if they ask… you can say you were looking for the bathroom.”

“Me?” Tara squeaked.

“May I help you girls with something?”

Tara shrieked even louder upon hearing the voice behind her. The speaker, a woman in her mid-thirties, smiled at the girls. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to frighten you.”

While the blonde waitress stumbled for words, Anya chose the moment to speak up. “We were- actually, my friend here was looking for the restroom.” She shrugged at Tara as if to say it was her best excuse.

The woman looked at Tara, who resembled a deer in the headlights, and pointed down the corridor. “It’s the last door to your left.” Tara muttered a “thank you” and hurried in the direction of the restroom.

While Tara rushed toward the bathroom, Anya took the chance to study the woman whom she guessed was either the owner or an employee. “So, what exactly is this place? There wasn’t a sign on the door.”

The woman turned back toward the curious blonde. “We sell renovated art,” she said and looked, admiringly, around the store.

“Renovated art? Isn’t that just a fancy way of saying recycled junk?” Anya asked, tactlessly.

Chuckling a little, the staff member shook her head, “We carry unique items. Although, I suppose that some would consider them ‘junk’.” She picked up a turquoise encrusted mask and ran her fingers over the painted beads.

Anya raised a lip and frowned at the object but was quiet as Tara rejoined them.

“That’s really beautiful.” The blonde whispered and admired the mask.

Nearby, Anya shook her head. “Figures,” she muttered.

“We have more if you’d like to see them,” the shopkeeper said, smiling when Tara nodded. Anya scowled, not at all interested in viewing classy junk.

“I have to get back to the money,” she said, inching toward the door. “Scream nice and loud if you need us, Tara.” Anya added before leaving the store.

Tara looked after her friend as Anya hurried across the street. “I’m Maggie, by the way,” the woman said once the blonde had turned back to her. “I’ll assume that you’re Tara.” The waitress nodded, smiling awkwardly. “Your friend’s quite a girl.”

“Yes, s-she is,” Tara said, agreeing as Maggie showed her some of the other art pieces.

**

“Where’s Tara?” Willow asked, wiping down the front counter while looking up at Anya.

“Oh, she’s probably being chopped into itty bitty pieces by the mask-lady.” The cashier said as she resumed her place next to the register.

“What?” The manager nearly yelled as her eyes shot toward the building across the street.

“She’s kidding.” Faith eyed the blonde, “You are kidding, right?”

“Yeah, yeah,” Anya muttered, tying back her hair. “That place is a freak show, you people had me excited over nothing.”

“So, what is it?” Buffy asked and leaned against the frame of the kitchen door.

“It’s a decorator’s nightmare.” Seeing the dumbfounded expressions on her co-workers faces, Anya rolled her eyes, “Renovated art.”

“Oh,” Willow’s shoulders slumped, having also been expecting something more interesting.

Faith glanced toward the building, “Okay, so, what’s with the weird, armless statue in the window?”

“Hence the freakiness,” Anya said, tapping a button and smiling when the cash register opened.

“And you left Tara there?” Willow asked, slightly nervous even though she knew Anya was exaggerating.

“Tara’s a big girl… as you well know,” the blonde cashier said with a cheeky smile. The manager blushed, but kept her annoyed expression. “Oh, relax,” Anya went on, “she’s probably over there buying you some animal made from tuna cans or something equally disturbing.”

As expected, Tara returned a few moments later carrying a brown shopping bag.

“What’d you get?” Anya asked, rounding the counter and trying to peek into the bag. “Is it missing a face?” She frowned in disgust and backed away a little.

“What?” The blonde frowned as well and looked into her bag on impulse.

“Anya seems to think you’ve been shopping at the local mortuary,” Buffy said and smiled at the cashier.

“Sure, I’m the crazy one.” Anya threw up her hands. “When you find your eyeball on display at the little shop of horrors over there, don’t come running to me.”

Willow shook her head. “So, what did you get?” She asked, curiously.

Tara smiled and shyly dipped her head, “Stuff.” She answered with a small grin.

“What kind of stuff?” The redhead inquired, inching forward. Anya muttered something under her breath, but her comments were ignored as Willow brushed up against her girlfriend.

The blonde grinned and moved closer to Willow to whisper, seductively, into the other woman’s ear. “You’ll find out later.” Her words both puzzled and excited the manager who blushed and nuzzled her girlfriend’s neck.

“Oh, geez,” Anya groaned.

“Since when do you groan at public affection?” Incredulous, Buffy asked the cashier.

Anya sighed, signaling the onset of a long explanation. “Xander isn’t-.” Before she could continue, Faith interrupted her.

The brunette held up her hand, “Is this going to another ‘Xander isn’t giving me orgasms’ speech? Because if it is, please spare us the details this time.”

“But he isn’t,” Anya kicked the counter and grimaced at the pain. The others motioned for her to quiet down when people looked their way.

“Maybe you should talk to him.” Tara tried to calm the blonde who was obviously distraught over her lack of orgasms.

“I don’t want to talk, I want to-.”

“Eep, okay, new topic,” Willow quickly ended the cashier’s sentence. “Anya, this is not the time.” She whispered to the agitated blonde. Anya scowled, but kept quiet and went back to her muttering.

“I vote for forgoing the sex talk and getting back to work,” Buffy said, raising her hand. The others nodded and a reluctant Anya finally agreed after a little prompting from Tara, who made the mistake of promising the blonde she could talk to her about anything, any time she wanted.

Unfortunately, Tara had no idea how soon the blonde would take her up on her offer.

Oh god :lmao Never a dull moment when Anya's around. Of course everyone's wondering it, and I am too - what did Tara get? Naturally the answer's 'wait until future chapter(s) to find out', so that I will faithfully do. It's good to see this story back in action.

Evy,
What fiction through yonder DCP board breaks?
'Tis an update for Food For Thought and I the starved reader.
Don't think that you have chosen the less concupiscent occupation of the adjencent building's denizens.
You perhaps might not have been inspired to let Anya rule the chapter with her freakin' hilarious Anya-ness as she pressgangs Tara into doing the Bobsey twins thing and check it out.
Anya's delusional paranoia gets a full-on and utter manifestation as she treats the arts store like the set of either "House of Wax", only the Vincent Price version and not the pathetic 2005 dead 20-ish teenager travesty, or "House of 1000 Corpses."
Then, then, she leaves Tara to possible evisceration or an afterlife as a naked lady lampshade.
OOOO, stuff for Willow and Tara to use later. Tell me more, tell me more.
Tara did break the cardinal rule when dealing with the borderline psychotic or even the merely annoying i.e, Anya in this case as she both made eye contact with her and encouraged her to share her thoughts and problems with Tara.
Anya is one of those people who doesn't need people to even be in the room while she's talking;you could leave the room for 30 minutes, come back and she'll still be talking.
Hope Tara doesn't get dragged into anything too heinous.
I can deny chicks in chainmail nothing.
