Drabble: A Quiet Day

Postby Dana5140 » Tue Apr 01, 2008 5:11 am

Wrote this a long time ago and a friend sent it to me todayto let me know how much he liked it, so thought I'd post this short drabble. Enjoy.

>>>It was one of those slow, quiet days that Willow and Tara rarely saw any more. They had woken late and had slowly dressed and gotten moving. It was Willow who had suggested coffee at the Coffee Grinder, a suggestion that Tara was only too happy to accept.

So there they were, slowly sipping a couple of mochas with whipped cream. Willow had taken the mint leaf that the Grinder had used as a garnish and was slowly, and with little apparent thought, licking the whipped cream off the leaf. This caused Tara to watch with growing interest, though she did not say a word. With a start, Willow realized what she was doing, glanced over at Tara and saw her watching, and then smiled a little embarrassed grin at her lover. Tara lifted her eyebrows in response, and blew Willow a small kiss in return.

Alone amongst the people frequenting the cafe, Willow and Tara spent an hour in companiable silence. The day looked to be a good one.<<<

Thanks, all. This was a result of a challenge, to write a drabble where nothing important happened but in which you could see the characters you loved. I've written textbooks in my career, but fiction? That's hard! :-)
