The white room (New fic)

Title: The white room

Author: Chachumera

Disclaimer: I don't own Willow or Tara, I just borrowed them for my story.

Rating: Not sure, but for the first chapter PG-13 for violence and language.

Feedback: I would love to know what you think :)

Summary: When Tara's mother died she was put in an institution for her ability read other peoples minds. Doctors have been abusing her and used her for many tests. She's never felt so alone, until one day, Willow ends up at that same institution in the same room.

Notes: This fanfic will get kind of violent. I've always loved the stories where either Willow or Tara had really abusive parents. I tried to make one like that but it didn't work out, so I came up with this instead. I hope you like it. Also the first chapter is short, but if I get good feedback, I'll write even more :)

CHAPTER ONE: Welcome to hell.

Lights to an empty room flickered on. A man in a white coat stepped in.

“Tara.” He said. “It’s time for your check up.” The man walked to the middle of the room where a blonde woman sat. She was on a wooden chair with her hands tied up behind her back. “Tara, look at me.” The man said.

Tara’s head was down and her hair fell passed her shoulders covering her face. “Come on, Tara, its Dr. Hart. Listen to me.” Tara slowly looked up at the man. Her face was full of hate and despair. Dr. Hart smiled at this. He took out a metal collar and attached it around her neck. Then took out some flash cards with the pictures facing him. “What’s this one?” He raised a card in the air so only he could see it.

Tara barely mumbled a word.

“I said, what is this one.” Dr. Hart said, getting angry. When Tara didn’t answer he took out a remote control and pressed a button on it.

“Ahhh!” Tara cried out in agony as the collar shocked her. “It’s a tree!”

Dr. Hart smiled and took out another one. “And this one?”

“A house.”

“This one?” He took out another.

“A girl.”

“Very good. I’m going to check on the other doctors and I’ll be right back.” Dr. Hart stepped out of the room and met up with another doctor. “Did you find someone?”

“Yes, sir. We did. She’s from Sunnydale, California.”

“And will she be here soon?”

“Yes. She will. Here’s her file.” The doctor handed him a clipboard.

“Excellent.” Dr. Hart took the clipboard and walked back into Tara’s room, closing the door behind him.

Tara looked at Dr. Hart and raised her eyebrow. “Who’s Willow?”

“She’s the girl that’s going to be testing with you in about a week.”

Tara let out a short laugh. “Another lab rat?”

“Well, if you want to put it that way…” Dr. Hart smirked. “Be thankful that she’s going to be in the same room as you.”

“Oh, yeah? Why…?”

“Well, I can imagine it can be pretty lonely and uncomfortable being in this white room, sitting in that chair all day.”

Tara grimaced then read something from Dr. Hart. “And I can imagine it can be pretty lonely since your girlfriend left you resently.”

“Bitch!” Dr. Hart took out the remote to the collar and shocked her again. Tara screamed in pain. “If you weren’t under the protection of this Institution then I’d kill you.”

Tara smiled then put her head down.

Dr. Hart took the collar from Tara’s neck and left the room. He locked the door behind him. “Someone’s gotta teach that bitch a lesson.”

________________________

[One week later]

Dr. Hart walked into Tara’s room carrying a chair. He set it down a few feet away facing her. Shortly after two other doctors came in carrying an un-conscious redheaded girl. They sat her down on the chair and tied her hands behind her back just like Tara.

“I want her ankles to be tied up too.” Dr. Hart said.

“Yes, sir.” The other doctors said and tied up the girls` ankles.

“Well, Tara. Say hello to Willow, your new roommate.” Dr. Hart said.

Tara looked up to Willow. “What are you going to do with her? Why is she in my room?” Tara asked, even though she knew the answer.

“Aw, come on Tara. I’m sure your mother taught you how to share. Oh wait… She couldn’t have. She died when you were born.”

Tara growled and struggled to get out of her chair until Dr. Hart pulled out her collar. “No!” She shouted and calmed down. “Please don’t. I’m sorry.”

“What was that?”

“I’m sorry.” She barely said with her jaws clenched.

“That’s more like it.” He put the collar away and started for the door. “Be good to Willow, now.” He smirked before exiting the room.

Tara looked at Willow sympathetically. “Welcome to hell.”

That was a very intense and good start. I do wonder if this is a real mental intuition or somewhere that Tara's father/family locked her away due to her supernatural tendencies. I can't help but speculate. Please continue..

I got the feeling this is more of an Initiativey place, where they're more interested in tests and studies than actually helping their "patients." Great start, by the way. I look forward to reading more! :)

DISCLAIMERS: I decided to go with the name Summerholt for my institution. I realized that, that was the name of another institution that was in Smallville. Therefore I didn't come up with the name, and if you watch Smallville and have seen that episode, my institution is nothing like it.

Notes: Thank you to everyone for the nice feedback. And again, sorry for the shortness of the chapters. I'm sick and my best friend just moved away so it's been hard to write or put my mind to something. Later on, they'll get bigger and bigger.

CHAPTER TWO: The Collars

When Tara mentally heard a wave of voices and thoughts coming from Willow, she knew that she was slowly waking up. Willow let out a soft groan as she opened her eyes. The first thing she noticed was the white room she was in, then the restraints on her wrists and ankles.

The last thing that she remembered was studying in the UC Sunnydale library, and then she fell asleep or something. “Where am I?” She said huskily to Tara.”

“You’re in the white room.” Tara simply said.

“What’s the white room?”

“It’s a special room that isolates your mind. They put you in here because they don’t want you going into their minds outside of this room.”

“I can’t enter peoples minds.”

“Because you’re only 19.”

“What does that have to do with anything?”

“You’re not fully matured. When you turn 20 then your mind will be at its limit… But for now… You can only see what’s on the surface of people, huh?”

“How did you know?”

“Because I saw it.”

“You went into my brain?! Without asking me?”

“It’s hard to restrain myself. Sometimes it’s like they just come out of your mind, and I can’t help but hear it… You know how that’s like.”

Willow looked at Tara in horror. “You saw that to?” Tara just shrugged her shoulders. “Stay out of my mind!”

Willow, indeed knew how that was. How it feels to hear everything that slips out of peoples` minds. Many of her friends became afraid of being around her, in fear of her learning things about them that they’ve been hiding. Soon, almost everyone in her school knew about her, and became distant.

“How long have you been here?”

“Since I was little.”

“Really? Don’t you ever get lonely?”

“No, I don’t. Even if I did, people are just to noisy to be around.”

“Yeah I know what you mean… but don’t you ever… you know… want to have someone to talk to? Like a friend?”

“No.”

Tara just sat there, as always looking down, with her hair covering her face. While Willow’s eyes kept wondering around all over the place, then she looked back to Tara.

“What are they going to do to us?”

“They’re going to come in here soon, and they’ll put a collar around your neck. Do as they say, or they’ll shock you using the collar. It makes your neck tense and stiff, it feels like hell. The shock also goes down to your torso and brings your shoulders an agonizing pain too.”

“W-why do they do that?!”

“They do it so you cooperate with them. They won’t shock you unless you disobey them, or talk back them. So I suggest you don’t.”

“What kind of things will they ask me?”

“They’re going to do some tests on you like a lab rat.”

Just then, Dr. Hart came in.

Look out. Dr. Hart is the worst of all of those doctors. Tara thought to Willow.

Willow’s head shot up at Tara when she heard Tara speaking to her in her mind.

“Willow. Welcome to the Summerholt. We’ll just be doing some tests on you.” He took out a collar and attached it around her neck. When Willow felt the coldness of the metal against her neck she immediately tensed. “Sorry if it’s a little cold.” He said it a sweet voice. Tara laughed at his behavior. “Hey, now.” He turned to Tara. “Remember, I’m the one with the remote control.” Dr. Hart took out another collar and attached it to Tara’s neck.

“Let’s start with you first Willow.” He took out some flash cards. “These card have different pictures on them. I’m going to pull one out and have to picture facing me, I want you to tell me which picture I’m looking at, ok?”

Willow hesitantly nodded. Maybe I should-

Don’t bother. They already know that you can read minds, denying it will just get you shocked. Tara thought to Willow.

Dr. Hart pulled out a card. “Do you know what this one is?”

Willow nodded. “It’s… a dog.”

“Very good.” He pulled out another one. “How about this one?”

“A flower.”

“Ok, good job.” Dr. Hart pulled out a different deck of cards. “Now these ones are just the same, but they have sentences on them. I want you to read me the sentence of the card that I’m holding ok?” Willow nodded and he pulled out a card. “What does this one say?”

“It says… ‘When the boy threw the ball, the dog then ran after it.’”

He pulled out another one. “Now, read me this one.”

“During Christmas, I get lots of presents.”

“Good work, we’ll do more testing tomorrow.” He looked to Tara. “Looks like it’s your turn.”

“Lucky me.” Tara said and looked up.

He took out a card.

“Boy.” Another card. “Woman.” Another. “Cat.” Another one. “Chair. You know… Dr. Hart. You already know that I know what’s behind that card. I don’t understand why I have to do this crap everyday. You don’t even shuffle the cards, the next one in the deck is a ball, a hat, and pot.”

“You better watch your mouth, girl.”

“You better watch yours too.”

Dr. hart took out his remote control and shocked Tara, yet again.

“Ahhh!” She cried out in pain.

“Hey! Stop that!” Willow shouted.

Dr. Hart took out the remote to Willow’s collar. “You stop whining!” He pressed the button and shocked her.

“Ahhh!” Willow cried and tears fell from her eyes. “Ahh!” She clenched her jaws together, to keep her from crying out in pain.

“That’s what you’ll get if you try to stick up for that brat again.” Dr. Hart said and walked out, leaving the collars on both of the girls’ necks.

“You didn’t have to do that…” Tara said softly.

“God… this hurts so much…” Willow cried. “How can you stand it?”

“I’ve been here a long time… after a while, it just doesn’t hurt as much, anymore.”

“I want to get out of here.”

Me too Tara thought.

I can't wait to see how they get out of there, though I guess they might have some kind of advantage since they can read minds. The problem with that is that everyone knows they can. Still, people can't regulate their thoughts that well.

Your title reminded me of that episode of Roswell titled The White Room. Great episode.

CHAPTER THREE: Friends

Tara walked hand in hand with a man in a white lab coat. They both walked into a classroom with two chairs in the center. Tara gently let go of the man’s hand and sat down in one of the chairs. After a while another girl walked in and sat in the second chair. “Hi” She said. “My name is Amy.”

“M-my name is T-Tara.”

“How old are you Tara?”

“F-five.”

“Amy grinned. “I’m six!” She said proudly.

Tara ducked her head and let her hair fall and cover her face. “W-why are you here?”

“My mom said that I had to learn with you `cause if I didn’t you’d be lonely and sad. Why are you here?”

“I don’t have a mommy. She died when I was littler. So I had to come here.”

Amy laughed. “You don’t have a mommy?” Tara shook her head. “What about your daddy?”

“I don’t know if I have a daddy.”

“What do you mean? Everyone has a daddy.”

“I just… don’t know…”

‘This girl is weird.’ Amy thought.

Tara looked up at Amy.
‘I-I…” She sighed. ‘I’m not weird… right?' She thought to herself.

“There!” Amy shouted and pointed at Tara. “She… she’s a witch!”

“Don’t be silly Amy. There’s no such thing as a witch.” Amy’s mom said.

“She… she read my mind!”

“Come on Tara. Let’s get to your new room”

“It’s all white!”

“That’s right. Your bed is in the corner over there.”
“Thank you Dr. Hart!”

“Willow?”

Willow stood next to Tara offering her, her hand.

“Willow?!”

___________________________

Tara awoke with a jolt. Her head sprang up and looked around the room. Her face was sweaty and her breathing was hard. “Willow?” She said, still hazy from her dream. She looked over to Willow who was starting to stir and mumbled something about frogs.

“No please don’t touch them Tara, they’re evil…” Willow mumbled. “No, really. They are!” Willow woke up franticly looking around the room.

‘Frogs, Willow?’

“You can see my dreams too?”

“No… you were just mumbling a lot…” Tara giggled.

“Oh…

“I’m sorry… if I woke you.”

“That’s ok. It was a bad dream anyway, so I should thank you.” Willow smile reassuringly.

“Why are you like this all the time…?”

“Like what?”

“You know, you don’t have to be so nice all the time…”

“What do you mean…? I’m just... I don’t mean to be nice… I mean, I… I want to be nice.”

“Why?” Tara kept her eyes off of Willow. “I don’t care. You don’t have to be nice for me. I didn’t do anything for you.”

Willow grinned. “So I guess you owe me then, huh?” When Tara didn’t reply Willow started to panic. “Well, you don’t really owe me… I was just…”

“It’s ok. I know. But… you don’t need to go through any trouble to be nice to me… Just because we’re in the same room together… I’m not expecting anything from you so you don’t need to worry.”

“But I want to be nice to you. I… I like you Tara. And… Maybe we could… you know… Maybe we could be-"

“No.”

“What? Why not?”

“The last person who wanted to be my friend accused me of being a witch.”

Willow’s face saddened. “I know you’re no witch. You’re a nice person, Tara. Don’t treat yourself so bad all the time, ok?”

“You really think so?” Tara said looking up.

Willow giggled. “If my hands and ankles weren’t tied up right now, I’d go over there and hug you… but… I can’t really move right now.”

Tara smiled as Willow started hopping up and down in her chair moving closer and closer. Soon Willow’s knees were touching Tara’s. “I’m sorry. That’s the best I can do right now.”

‘It’s definitely enough’ Tara smiled but then realized that Willow could hear her. “Uh… I…"

Willow gave Tara a big smile.

“So have you ever been outside of this building?”

“No… I don’t think so. I think the only time I saw the outside was from looking at it through a window.”

“Really?”

“Don’t you ever think about running away?”

“I think out about it all the time, but it won’t get me anywhere.”

“How can you be so sure?”

“There are cameras all around this room. That door over there is locked from the outside, and even if I did get past it, there are loads of doctors on the outside. Besides… I don’t have anyone to go to… I’d just be all alone.”

“If they ever release you… then I’d make sure that your not alone… unless I’m still in here. But… You’re not alone anymore. You don’t have to worry.”

Tara ducked her head.

“Why do you always hide your face like that?” Tara just kept her head down. “I know you were living in here alone, but now I’m here. And… Please don’t hide your face. ‘It’s to beautiful not to show…’

Tara blushed and restrained herself from putting her head down. ‘Oh, I’m nothing special…’

‘But you are. You’ve been here all your life. I’ve only been here a week and I feel like I could die. I would never be able to be what you’ve done…I think you’re amazing.’

‘I have no choice to be here though. If I could get out then I really would. But I’m stuck here. I’m never getting out…’

‘You’re going to get out. I promise. They can’t keep you in here forever.’

“They can. But thanks for trying.” Tara smiled.

“Don’t be so sad… It make the mood depressing.”

“It’s not me that’s making the mood depressing. It’s the fact that we’re trapped in here that’s depressing.”

“But if you always think so negative then it makes it seem even more depressing. We should uh… play a game… Have you ever played ‘Anywhere but here?’… Well I guess in our case absolutely anywhere is better then here. But uh… have you ever heard of it?” Tara shook her head. “Well. You just think of something… anywhere you’d like to be. Anywhere but here. Like… I'd be in my bed snuggling up to a blanket or something. You get it?”

“I-I think so… but I don’t know where I would want to be… just… not here.”

“Really? There’s nothing you’ve really wanted to see before… like maybe The Statue of Liberty.”

“What’s that?”

“You don’t know what it is…? It’s this humongous statue of a lady with a crown holding a torch. You get to go all the way up to the top and see the whole city.”

“Really?” Tara said getting excited. “What other places are there…?”

“Uh… I hear Hawaii’s nice…uh…”

“What’s Hawaii?”

“It’s a bunch of islands that are in the middle of the ocean. It’s supposed to be really peaceful and nice. No tall buildings… Very few people.”

Tara stared at Willow with a smile. “Tell me more! Tell me about the outside.”

Willow grinned. “So does this mean I get to be your friend after all?”

Tara blushed and looked down for a moment then looked back up to Willow. “Only if you tell me more!”

Notes: Sorry about the lateness. This chapter was really hard for me to write, and also I've been procrastinating a lot. Thanks to everyone for your nice comments. I really enjoy reading them!

Also, I mention Archimedes in here too. I figured since Willow likes school and math and all it'd work out all right. Sorry if I get any details wrong. I don't really know too much about him.

CHAPTER FOUR: What's happening?

Dr. Hart walked into the white room. Following after were two other doctors holding trays of food. “You have 20 minutes to eat, you try to get out and I’m raising the shock intensity on your collar and skipping your next meal.” He said he was untying their restraints. The other doctors left their food on the floor. “Now I’m going to put these on…” He put both of their collars on. “Just to make sure you don’t try anything. Have fun.”

When all the doctors left Willow and Tara got up and stretched. Willow winced and clutched her wrist in her hand. “Ow! Stupid ropes.”

“Let me see.” Tara walked over to Willow and brought her wrist up. It was all red and bruised. “You’re bleeding…”

“Yeah… it’s ok though. Don’t worry.” Willow went to the trays of food. “Oh, look food… Do you ever wonder why hospital food always has jello in it?”

“Umm… I w-wouldn’t know…” Tara began eating.

“Oh… right. Sorry.”

“It’s ok. I don’t mind.”

They both leaned up against a wall in the back of the room eating quietly next to each other. Their arms were lightly touching each other. Tara sighed and leaned more into Willow’s touch. Even as a little kid, any contact with another person was really rough and violent, so she usually avoided it. But now…
Tara put her tray down and lowered her head down onto Willow’s shoulder. For the first time in years she was able to relax around another person rather then tensing and getting ready to be beaten.

Tara smiled and closed her eyes. “You feel so good.” She whispered.

“What?” Willow whispered back.

Even before Amy accused Tara of being a witch, having her as her friend was nothing like this. All it ever meant was doing whatever Amy told her to. Or listening to her rant on about her other friends. So she never really understood what it meant to have a friend.

Until Willow came Tara didn’t think that nice people ever excited. She thought that nice people only existed in her dreams and fantasies. She only was the dark side of things. That’s all she ever grew up with.

Almost as if her body moved on it’s own, Tara bent back and pressed her lips softly to Willow’s neck. She had no idea why she did it, but whatever the reason she liked it. It just seemed right. It made a tingling feeling in her lips, and spread throughout her body. It felt warm and safe. She brought her lips below her ear to her pulse point and lightly kissed there. Willow gasped softly and closed her eyes.

Of course Tara had no idea what she was doing or what affect it had on Willow. Tara trailed her lips along Willow’s jaw, right before she reached her chin, Tara heard Dr. Hart unlocking the doors. She quickly pulled herself completely away from Willow and picked up her tray.

First those two other doctors came in the room and took their trays and left. Dr. Hart came in and first grabbed Tara by the arm and threw her in the chair then he went to do the same to Willow but she was already sitting down in her seat. Dr. Hart smirked. “Maybe you should teach your friend how to behave like you.” He looked over the Tara. “It would make my job much easier.” Tara smiled back at him. “Well, I’ll see you ladies later. I’m going to go home... and sleep.” When he left, the room was silent.

Tara waited patiently for Willow to say something. She was excited and a little jumpy. Usually at night Willow would tell her something about the outside, but tonight she was silent. Her smiled faded when she waited a while and Willow still hadn’t said anything. For a second she actually considered going into Willow’s mind and seeing what was wrong, but then realized that Willow was her only friend and she didn’t want to ruin it. Then she thought back to when they had dinner together.

“I’m sorry.” Tara said.

Willow looked up over to Tara. “For what?”

“For earlier today. I don’t… I don’t know why I did that… or really what I did. But I know that whatever I did… it’s making you quiet right now.

‘She has no idea what she did…' Willow thought and looked over to Tara. “You didn’t do anything wrong… it’s just me. I’m kind of tired right now.

“Oh a-alright. S-sorry.” Tara said suddenly getting nervous.

When Willow realized that Tara had no idea what she’d just done, she couldn’t help but feel disappointed. ‘What was I hoping for anyway?’

Willow never really had a big love life. It was hard to be around someone since most people were afraid to be around her. There was one person who- for a short period of time- wasn’t afraid to be around her. Oz was a great guy, but still just like any other person. First everything was going great for them. But that’s when she realized that everyone has thoughts that shouldn’t be read. So in the end, it was her own fault that their relationship ended. But still…

The touch of someone… anyone has never been as electric as just today…

“Who’s Oz?” Tara asked. When Willow didn’t answer she added, “I’m sorry. It just slipped out. I didn’t hear anything else though I promise.

“Oh, it’s ok. I was just spacing out. I’m sorry. Uhh. Oz. Right. He was my boyfriend.”

“Tara raised her eyebrow. “Do you have a lot of friends?”

“Um… no, not really. Well I have three close friends but-" Willow stopped herself. “Oh, well Oz was a special friend.

“What do you mean?”

“Well… I cared about him a lot… But there was some problems.”

“Oh…” Tara said, even though she still didn’t really get it. “Am I your special friend?”

“What?” Willow was taken aback, but then thought about it. “Yes… Yes. I think you are.”

Tara smiled big. “You’re my special friend too… but do we have any problems.”

Willow smiled. “No. We’re just fine… Uh… minus being trapped in here… But we will get out soon.”

“If we do… Will you take me to some of the places in your stories?”

“Sure. We could go where ever you want… as long as it’s affordable.”

“You promise?” Tara asked.

“I promise.”

“Willow?”

“Yes, Tara?”

“Could you tell me a story?”

“Sure. What kind of story to do want to hear?”

“Anything. You pick.”

“Ok then… Have I ever told you about Archimedes?” Tara shook her head. “Well I’ll tell you a short version about a famous mathematician by the name of Archimedes.”

“O-ok”

As Willow told the story to Tara, she watched the look of amazement on Tara’s face.

“And then while he was in the bathtub he shouted ‘Eureka!’ and ran in the streets naked!” Willow said and smiled at Tara’s reaction.

“Oh my gosh! Really? What happened next?” Tara said with her face shining brightly with excitement.

“Well, see, this is the sad part because he was so excited about his new discovery that he went into the streets and started making circles on the ground. A guard came up to him and tried to get his attention, but he wouldn’t listen. He said, “I’m busy!” Or something like that and the guard got mad and killed him.”

Tara had a look of horror on her face.

“It’s said that if we had Archimedes smarts then we would be way more advanced in our technology right now.

“They shouldn’t have killed him like that. He was just trying to help.”

“Sometimes life just isn’t fair.” Willow said with a frown.

“…Will you tell me another story?”

“Another one? Aren’t you tired yet?” Tara shook her head ‘no’. “Alright. I tell you one more, but after that we should probably get to sleep.”

______________________

After Willow told Tara one more story they both went to sleep… Well Tara did anyway. Willow however, stayed up and started at the white, empty ceiling. When Tara goes to sleep, is the only time she could really think about things without the worry of Tara hearing.

‘I wonder if she’s dreaming. Or what she’s dreaming’ Willow looked over to Tara. ‘You know I think I might be able to see…' She focused on Tara then quickly looked away. ‘No…I can’t do that. She finally trusts me…’ Willow looked back at dinner. ‘But maybe too much? Not that I really mind though… It was kind of nice… and comforting. Sure a little weird, but also… right too.’ Willow closed her eyes and sighed. She could still feel Tara’s lips on her neck. ‘They’re so soft and warm…’ She looked back to Tara. ‘She beautiful too.’

Willow still sat in her seat. ‘She doesn’t like me… perhaps… even more then a friend…? Well she said it herself. I’m her special friend.’ Willow smiled to herself. And couldn’t help but feel special. ‘I wonder what she thinks I meant by special friend… I hope she doesn’t think I meant… no. I don’t even think ‘gay’ is in her vocabulary… Maybe I should tell her…? No… She’s almost… kind of like a little kid... We have got to get out of here.’

Willow looked all around the room. ‘There has got to be something around here.’ Then Willow saw something she hadn’t before. She looked up and her eyes widened a bit. ‘Is that an air vent?’

Willow’s heart almost leaped out of her chest. ‘We can finally get out of here!’

Willow barley got any sleep that night. She just stared at Tara waiting for her to wake up. ‘I wonder if she ever thought about going through the air vent…’ When Tara began to stir Willow quickly sat up straight. “Tara? Tara are you awake yet?”

“Mm… Willow?” Tara said just opening her eyes.

“Tara! Your awake I’ve been waiting all night!”

“Willow? Are you all right? What’s wrong?”

‘I know how to get out!’

‘What? What are you talking about Willow?’

‘Tara…Look up.’ Willow watched as Tara looked up.

“I don’t-"

‘The air vent! I don’t know why I didn’t think of it before! But we could really get out!’ Willow got a little worried when Tara didn’t say anything back. ‘Why aren’t you happy? We could get out! Isn’t that a good thing?’

Tara looked up at Willow. “I’m not going anywhere with you, Willow! Now just shut up!”

Hmm... ok, this is a pretty original story... now im just wondering why Tara doesnt wanna go with Willow... maybe she's afraid that if they get caught the doctors will hurt Willow or separate them... or maybe she wants Willow all to herself... well, im sure you'll answer this soon :peace

ok that was not the response I expected from Tara unless she'd been listening in on what Willow was thinking (rather than sleeping). But even then it sounded a little harsh.

Keep the story going ... :D

Title: The White Room
Rating: PG-13

Notes: Gah. I spent all night trying to tying this up. I'm so tired. I don't think there are any mistakes in here, but I'll read it over and check tomorrow... I hope you enjoy this chapter. It was really hard for me to write. And thank you, again to all the feedback people :)

CHAPTER FIVE: Alice

“Tara… w-what?”

“Willow, I’m not going anywhere with you. Your so noisy, Just shut-up.”

“What happened? What happened about getting out together? What about…” Tears started to form in Willow’s eyes.

Tara let out a groan in frustration and looked away. “No.”

Before Willow could say anything, Dr. Hart walked in. He saw the tears in Willow’s eyes. “What’s wrong with you?” He turned to Tara. “Oh… I see you met Alice.”

“What? Who?” Willow looked up at Dr. Hart.

“Alice. She’s the girl that lays dormant in Tara’s mind… of, course… not dormant anymore, though”

“What?”

Dr. Hart sighed. “There are two people in Tara’s body right now. When Tara becomes really exhausted or unconscious, then Alice takes over. Then when the same happens to Alice, Tara comes back. They usually switch over night while they sleep.”

“But the hasn’t happened the whole time I’ve been here.”

“I know. We’re working on that right now.” Dr. Hart pulled out something that looked like earphone to Willow. “I’ll be monitoring you too from now on. Alice has never been dormant for over three days since you came. So my guess is that you have something to do with it.” He put the earphones things around Willow and Alice’s ears.

“What does this do?” Willow asked.

“That will monitor the chemical changes in your brain.”

“You know… it would’ve been nice to know about Tara’s little personality change.”

“Hm… it must have slipped my mind.”

After Dr. Hart did the same exercises with the flash cards, and sentences he called the other two doctors in to bring their lunch. When he set them down, Willow went to the back of the room, while Alice went to the other side and ate in silence with her head down.

“Alice…” Willow said. It wasn’t hard to call her ‘Alice.’ Alice’s expression was so different from Tara’s. ‘Were you the one that I first met? Or was that Tara?”

Alice looked up at Willow. “That day when you came. Tara got shocked from the collar twice. She was really weak… So yes…”

“Why didn’t change back after Tara went to sleep though? Alice sighed. “I’m not really sure. I mean… Well… Her will kept me away…”

“What do you mean?”

“Her will to be with you was really strong, even when she goes to sleep, she dreams of being together with you. She likes you a lot. It’s disgusting…”

Willow didn’t say anything. She stopped listening after ‘She likes you a lot.’ She likes me?.

“Well, duh, that’s what I just said.”

“I wasn’t talking to you! You can’t just read my mind like that without asking me!”

“Sorry! It just slipped out…”

“Sorry…” Willow said. “I just…” She trailed off.

“Yeah, well Tara isn’t here just-" Alice stopped herself. Her face changed to a look of horror.

“Uh… Alice? Are you-"

“No!” She shouted.

“Alright! Ok. Jeez. I was just asking if-"

“You can’t…” Alice wasn’t looking at Willow anymore.

“What?”

“You did for two weeks already!”

“Huh?”

Alice collapsed to the ground. “Alice…?” When Willow got no answer, she tired again. “Alice?” Willow ran over to Alice and kneeled next to her. “Uh… Are you ok?”

Alice slowly got up. She turned toward Willow.

“Willow?”

“Alice…?”

When Willow saw her face light she knew that, that was no longer Alice. “Tara?”

“Willow!” Tara shouted and jumped on her. She wrapped her arms around Willow as they both fell back. “I’ve missed you, Willow.” Tara rested her head on Willow’ chest.

Willow blushed and stammered a bit. “Well you were here this morning…”

“But I don’t ever want to be away from you.” Tara squeezed Willow harder.

Willow blushed even more. “I don’t either.” With Tara squeezing her so hard she almost hard trouble breathing, but she didn’t care. Willow laced her fingers in Tara’s hair and breathed really deep.

Tara sighed and closed her eyes. They both just lay there. Willow ran her hands in Tara’s hair and Tara rested her head on Willow’s chest. Willow

Yes Tara?

I do want to get out with you

Willow’s face lit up. You do?

I do

Through the air vent?

Umm… What does the air vent lead to?

Uh... Well I never really thought of that. But it would lead out of this room.

But what if it leads to a room full of doctors?

Willow paused. How big is this building?

Uhh… very.

Well, this may seem like a…stupid idea but what if we just ran?

Um… I never really thought of that before. If we got caught running out… I can’t even begin to imagine what they’ll do to us.

Yeah I know what you mean. Never mind, forget what I said anything.

Tara put her hand to Willow’s cheek and squeezed softly. She lowered her head…

“So I hope I’m not interrupting anything.” Dr. hart smiled as he walked in.

Tara quickly pulled herself off of Willow quickly got up after.

“Hello, Tara. You r kind of early, aren’t you?” Tara didn’t say, she just sat in her chair. “So you wanna tell me why you’re here?” He said while restraining Tara. Then going over to Willow to do the same.

“I-I don’t know.”

“Not according to the thing I have on your head” Dr. Hart then put the girls collars on.” And also…” He walked over to Willow. “It says that Willow knows.” He said still talking to Tara.

Tara tensed at his words. She didn’t want to see Willow get shocked from the collar again. No… of course she didn’t.

“What about you, Willow? Do you want to tell me why Tara’s still here?”

Willow… Alice will… If you tell… she’ll…

It’s ok. Don’t worry, Tara.

Tara was at a loss of words. She knew it was selfish of her to ask Willow not to say anything, but if Alice finds out…

“I don’t know…” Willow said.

Dr. Hart nodded and took out the remote. “Are you sure?”

“Yes…”

No!

Dr. Hart pressed the button. Willow’s mind blanked. Her neck tensed and she screamed. When Tara hear that tears fell down her cheek. Your to weak Tara… You can’t help her. Alice told her.

I can help her! Tara urged.

Oh, really? How are you going to do that? You/re hand and ankles are tied up. The only way you can stop him is is you let your demon out… If you let me[/I] out.[/I]

“No!” Tara shouted and like magic Willow’s collar snapped open and flew onto Dr. Hart’s neck, shocking him.

Willow breathed hard. “Did you do that?”

Tara looked at Willow, then at Dr. Hart who was moaning in pain. “I-I’m not sure.” Tara’s eyes traveled to Willow’s restraints. She concentrated on it for while before it started to untie by itself.

“Oh my gosh…” Willow said in amazement.

“I did do it!” Tara smiled then undid her ties. When she got up from her chair, three doctors came running in with two pairs of handcuffs. When Tara looked at them they all flew back against the wall.

“Run?” Tara looked over to Willow.

“Run.”

They both sprinted out the door. As they thought, almost all the doctors chased after them. Willow kept throwing things down behind them like chairs and other random stuff, hoping that some doctors behind would trip over them. Tara was using her new, unknown ability to keep away the doctor coming from the front.

I think we might actually get out of here, Tara!

Tara slowed down. “I don’t know… I’m getting… so tired.”

“We’re almost there!”

Tara fell to the ground, and Willow ran over to her. “Tara are you ok?”

Tara came up and kneeled on her knees. “Get out of my way, Willow!”

“Alice?”

Alice let out a scream and extended her arms out. All the doctors flew back so much more farther then Tara made them go.

“Whoa…” Willow said to herself. Tara couldn’t do nearly as much as that. Ali dropped to the floor. “What’s wrong?”

Alice looked up at Willow like she was crazy. “Well why don’t you try to do that and see how good you fell afterwards.”

Some other doctors started to come out. “What are we gonna do now?” Willow asked Alice.

“I don’t know…”

Willow looked up and her eyes widened.

“I hope we’re not too late.”

To Be Continued....
