Senior Year

Postby IceBear26 » Fri Mar 04, 2005 9:56 pm

Title: Senior Year (The title sucks so if you have any ideas, please mention them)

Rating: PG-13 to NC-17 (I hope).

Distribution: Sure, if you tell me where.

Pairings: Tara/Willow

Disclaimer: The characters depicted in the following work of fiction are the property of Mutant Enemy and Joss Whedon. I’m just having fun with them.

Feedback: That would be so great! I want to know if it sucks or not. This is my very first fic so please don’t be too mean.

Summary: It’s senior year for Tara, Buffy, and Xander. Willow is a lot different than she was in the series.

“Tara? Are you okay?” asked Buffy Summers and Xander Harris worriedly. It was the first day of senior year and already Tara had tripped and dropped all of her books. It was a beautiful day and class had not yet started.

Tara groaned as she got up and exasperatedly said, “You know, just once, I would like to get through school without falling.”

Buffy laughed as she helped Tara pick up her books. “Yeah, but then Xander’s and my day would not be complete and we would feel like we were being cheated out of something.”

Xander, being the sensitive guy that he was, chimed in saying, “Yeah, Tar, it’s not the same without you falling on your ass.”

Tara, rolling her eyes, replied sarcastically. “Thanks guys, I feel the love.”

”Aww… we love you, Tara.”

And this was the beginning of their last year in high school.

First period:

“So what do you guys have for first period?” asked Buffy.

Tara, Xander, and Buffy all took out their schedules and checked them with each other while commenting on the teachers that they had.

”YES!” They exclaimed after they saw that they all had the same classes, except fifth period, which was dance for the two girls. Xander has P.E. It was time to go to AP Government first period with Mr. O’Hara as the teacher.

Tara led the other two to the class and they managed to find three seats near the back just as the bell rang.

”Welcome back to school, everyone!” As everyone moaned and groaned, Mr. O’Hara just smiled. He was a short, chubby man and seemed to genuinely love teaching. He was a pushover and wanted to see everyone succeed.

”Let’s start with introductions. How about everyone stand up one at a time and tell everyone in the class your name and what you did over the summer? This way, you can learn everyone’s name while also getting some of that excess energy out,” Mr. O’Hara said enthusiastically.

The class did as they were told, each standing up and stating their name and what they did over the summer. As the class was nearing the end, with Tara ending off with “My name is Tara and all I really did during the summer was hang out with my friends”, the door opened and in walked a redhead. She was skinny, with bright red hair and green eyes. She was dressed in tight leather pants and a black shirt and walked with an attitude that practically screamed “don’t mess with me.”

”Oh, you must be Ms. Rosenberg,” said Mr. O’Hara as he was checking his class roster. “How nice of you to join us. Please find a seat and tell the class your name and what you did during the summer.”

The redhead walked over to a seat, sat down, and smirked. “What, do I have to do this ‘get to know you shit’? Quite frankly, I don’t care to know anyone in this class”, she stated matter-of-factly.

Mr. O’Hara, flustered now, said “Well, I don’t wish to make anyone uncomfortable so if you don’t want to do it, you don’t have to. At the very least, can you tell the class your name?”

The redhead, now tapping her foot impatiently on the ground, again smirked and replied. “Sure thing, chubby. My name is Willow.”

’Hmm… Willow, huh? Such a sweet name for someone so mean,’ Tara thought as she and her friends sat there shocked that Willow called the teacher “chubby.”

The bell then rang, signaling the end of the awkward silence that had settled over the class. The students all rushed out and as Tara watched, Willow stood up, stretched, looked over at Tara, and sauntered out the class.

Break:

Second period ended, which was calculus for Tara, Buffy, and Xander. As they were walking to their usual meeting place in the library, Buffy finally exclaimed, “Willow! Willow Rosenberg!”

’What?’ was Tara’s first thought but as soon as Xander started to wave his hands excitedly, she started to wonder how her two best friends knew the red haired girl

”What’s up, Buffy? Is she a demon or something?” asked Tara quietly. After all, Buffy, the petite blonde girl, was the ‘Chosen One’, a girl destined to fight the forces of darkness.

As soon as she asked that question, Buffy and Xander turned and looked at her and Buffy said, “No, she’s not. She’s just some girl that we used to know back in freshman year.”

”What happened?” Tara asked.

Buffy began to explain how she knew Willow. ”Willow… was different from everyone else. She was a complete nerd. She got picked on from everyone because she was so smart and the only friend she had was all the books she was always reading. She was a sweet girl, always wanting to help others and prove her worth.”

Xander chimed in and started to tell the rest of the history between them and Willow. “One day, Willow came to school with a black eye. All she kept saying was, ‘I can’t tell. I can’t tell.’ We let it go but as time went on, she kept coming back with worse injuries, like broken wrists and bruised ribs.”

Buffy again took over the story. “I couldn’t keep seeing her being hurt so I cornered her in the bathroom and wouldn’t let her leave until she told me. After hours of probing, she finally told me one word… ‘Oz’. She just wouldn’t tell me who or what Oz was. After a while, I had to let her leave because she was becoming distraught. The next day, she stopped coming to school and when Xander and I went to go see her, her neighbors said that she took off.”

They stood in silence until Tara broke the silence by asking if that was the last time they saw her until today.

”Yeah,” Xander said sadly. “That was the last time we saw her. She changed so much, I guess Buffy and I just didn’t recognize her.”

The three again stood in silence.

’I want to get to know her… I thought I felt a connection with her when she looked at me.’ was Tara’s last thought before the bell rang.

This looks cool so far. It's always fun to have a bad girl Willow, and distressing as abuse is it makes for great conflict and a bit of angst in a story.

I got bitten by a drunk lesbian! Does that mean I'll turn into one?
