Title: The League of Extraordinary Women

Author: Magrat 70

Spoilers: damn so many; Season 6 Buffy, Season 9 X-files, various seasons from Charmed and Stargate

Disclaimer: They don’t belong to me, but a big mention, Carol Jordan belongs to the brilliant Scottish writer Val McDermid. Never mind Alan Moore the amazing brain behind the weird, but brilliant idea that inspired this. If some of the timings are off I apologise; the other things I like, Willow/ Tara is my passion.

Title: The League of Extraordinary Women Prologue

The battered bodies of SG-1 tested by too many fights and the loss of Daniel Jackson had taken its toll. Samantha Carter sat on her bunk feeling absolutely exhausted. For once she couldn’t care if The Gao’ulds invaded, Earth and The Asgards be dammed. She slept for a few hours until she heard a gentle knocking on her door and was surprised to see General Hammond standing there. “Sir, please don’t tell me there is another mission.”

“Yes Major Carter, but it’s not quite what you might think,” said the General, shifting uncomfortably. “You leave for Washington A.S.A.P”.

*************************

“Leo get your angel ass down here now,” yelled Piper, excited but not sure if should feel happy about being in the early throes of pregnancy, that added to Phoebe’s inability to cope with her final break up with Cole wasn’t helping. She was surprised when she saw the first sign of an orb in front of her. “It makes a change you answering a call so quickly…wait who the hell are you?”

A very young blonde woman had appeared in front of her. “I’m T-tara, Leo is on an emergency, or kinda working on something else.”

In spite of the situation Piper’s heart went out, the women in front of her was so young and for once looking up-to-date in the fashion stakes. “You haven’t been doing this long have you?”

“I’m s-so s-sorry, I knew I’d get this all wrong,” said Tara, looking down in at her feet.

“Hey it’s okay and every one has to start…wait is Leo hurt,” Piper clutched her stomach, fearing hitting in her in an instant.

Tara put her arm around Piper and guided her to one of the settee’s in the Halliwell

sitting room. “Leo’s fine, like I said he is just working with someone else, but I was sent here to tell you that you and your sisters are needed in Washington.”

“Why?” Asked Piper.

Tara shrugged. “I’m only here to deliver the message.”

“What if we can’t make it, we can’t just drop everything at the drop of a hat,” protested Piper.

Sad blue eyes stared back at her. “Innocents will die.”

Piper sighed. “Where are we supposed to be going?”

*********************

D.C. I Carol Jordan shifted uncomfortably in her seat and checked her watch; still another hour to go in this seemingly never-ending lecture on people smuggling. It’s not like she didn’t know how it worked; not after smashing a huge Eastern European ring a few months ago; but she a sneaky feeling that she had been sent to Quantico for this course because her boss couldn’t handle the fact that the mastermind behind the ring had viciously raped Carol when he had blown her cover. She rubbed her eyes trying to force that particular memory to the back of her mind. She almost jumped out of her seat when she was tapped on the shoulder.

“Detective Chief Inspector, could you please follow me? I think we may have a job for you.”

************************

“Bitch, you think you are better that the rest of us don’t ya?” Asked the big muscular woman, who had been transferred on to Faith’s wing the day before. “Ya think you’re tough don’t ya?” She shoved the renegade slayer hard against wall of the laundry wall.

Faith turned quickly and poised herself. There was another time when she would have just beaten the crap out of this woman, but that was another lifetime and a different Faith. She kept eye contact with the woman hoping that she could stare her down and not have to resort to anything else. Before the tight stand off could be resolved a guard called over.

“Faith you’ve a visitor. You better come with me.”

The dark slayer turned and blew a kiss to her assailant, who snarled back at her.

****************************

“Drop your fire arm and lay on the ground with your hands above your head.”

The small redhead did as she was told. A man knelt beside her, his gun trained steadily on her, as their eyes locked. “That’s some chase you lead us on. Where’s Mulder?”

The woman carried on staring at him but didn’t make a sound.

“Doesn’t matter Dana, you’re the one we were told to bring in.”

*********************************

“I thought I recognised the voice of a fellow countryman; do you mind if I join you.”

“I’m waiting for someone,” said Willow, the friendly looking blonde man seemed nice but she didn’t really want to talk to anyone and she was wondering where Giles was. It was now almost a ritual with them; after she had finished with The Coven she would meet him here for a cream tea. She was surprised when the man sat down by her anyway.

“I haven’t time to beat around the bush…”

Willow started to panic. “Leave me alone.”

“Willow I can’t. I know how much you’re hurting and I wish I didn’t have to do this but your needed,” said Leo.

“I don’t do stuff anymore,” said Willow, she concentrated her feelings on the man and only felt goodness coming from him. “Please, find someone else.”

“I can give you back what you’ve lost,” said Leo. “If you come with me.” He hated having to do it this way, but he wasn’t sure how else he could get Willow to come with him and he knew she was vital.

“You have no idea what I have lost,” said Willow.

“Tara.”

**************************

Buffy picked up the phone. “Giles, how’s Willow? What do you mean you want me to meet her in Washington? What about Dawn? You can’t be serious. I’ll be there as soon as possible.”

Wow, great premise! Can't wait to see all these women in a room together. Drool factor: high. Fantastic storyteller factor: equally high.

So Tara's a whitelighter, huh? Fits. In fact, I couldn't see her as anything else in a post-S6/Charmed crossover. Plus, all my favourite shows in a W/T-centric uber-crossover? I'm in heaven.

Keep those updates thick 'n' fast! (no pressure ;) )

Extraordinary women, indeed. A new Magrat story is always cause for celebration and you haven't done things by halves with your latest offering, have you?

Gathering the strongest-willed, aggressive, and stubborn women in the world together in one room shall be an interesting test.

If it reunites Willow with Tara, let's hope none of the cloying factor rubs off on them from the Piper/Leo vibe of witch/whitelighter.:peace

Xeemobiote: hope you continue to enjoy it

Justin: Thank you; I just love the whole premise The League of Extraordinary Gentleman

Devashu: I think I could do with some of that coffee:laugh . The story itself is very simple but it’s trying to use all of their talents and strengths that is the challenge.

Modjadji: Thank you, I hope you’ll enjoy the next few parts. I just thought that Tara would make a great whitelighter.

Quirky Canadian: Willow will get all she wants

:devilish

Marilda: On the whole updating thing. I put my hand up at being a bit hit and miss but I have more time than I thought I would at the moment so who knows it might be quicker than you think.

Irishlassie: you make me :blush .I know I keep say this but things are written an I hope they will be posted soon. The only thing I can say is that we ended working backwards on some TCIF updates for continuity so when they are posted it will be quite quickly.

Puff; Clash is the right word, there is no way that some of these will get on and can you imagine who swill try and take charge?

Insanity; the next part should be ready tomorrow.

Taralicious: no T/W will not be like Piper/Leo; a bit more fire will be there. Keeping every character in the story will be challenge but I hope it works.

Beth: Hey sweetie:bigwave . Being honest this wouldn’t have been written but for the current circumstance; as you know the only way I know to take my mind off things is to write and I didn’t want to :buried overload you with anymore TCIF, Normality or Journeys so this got written instead.

A wonderfull idea, I didn't recognize Carol Jordan, but the others were cool. I so love the idea of Tara as a white lighter, that is pretty cool and I can see all sorts of ways to go with that. This is a bit disjointed, but it was a setup piece so that isn't that big a deal. Being a big StarGate fan I was glad to see Samantha Carter included, I wouldn't mind if Catherine Willows was there instead of Faith, or even better I would love to see Sarah Mackenzie from JAG, she is a super, strong woman too. But those are probably only two notables that I missed. It'll be interesting to see how all these women interact and what the danger is that brings thems together. I hope that you do get a chance to update soon, this looks like a lot of fun, even if it is post season sux.

Besides everyone know that Tara became a whitelighter and then clipped her wings for Willow. I saw the episode myself. I don't know know what the hell everyone else claims to have been watching...

Garner: Carol Jordan would be unfamiliar to a lot of people but I hope you like her. I agree on the disjointed but it was purposely so; more a collage of getting the characters together than the start of the story. I have to admit to having a huge soft spot for Sam Carter and I’ve always wanted a chance to write her. The update is finally written and will be posted soon.

Title: League of Extraordinary Women part 1

Author: Magrat

Spoilers: as before

Rating: R

Disclaimer: They don’t belong to me; I’m juts playing. I promise to put them all back safe and sound when I have finished. Thanks to Justin for his help.

The league of Extraordinary Women part 1

“Through here Detective Chief Inspector,” said the young man who had driven Carol Jordan from Quantico to the J. Edgar Hoover building in Washington. She entered a large room, dominated by a big oak conference table, the room itself was oak panelled and in front of the table was a screen with it’s slide machine resting on the table pointing at the screen. There were already a couple of people in the room. One was a dark haired woman who didn’t look like she was much out of her teens. She was dressed in black leather trousers and a black t-shirt; she was swinging back on her chair with her booted feet rested on the table. Carol decided that she looked more like a thug than an F.B.I agent. The other woman looked more uncomfortable, she was in an Air Force dress uniform and the look on her face said she would rather be anywhere else than where she was sitting now, but at least she had given Carol a small smile, the other woman had pointedly ignored her.

The door swung open again and the room was suddenly full of movement and noise as the three young women entered bickering amongst themselves.

“Are you sure Leo wanted us to be here? It feels like a trap,” said Phoebe, eyeing everyone in the room with deep suspicion, before taking a seat. “I don’t like the feeling of being somewhere official.”

“I agree with Phoebe,” said Paige, sitting by her sister. “This doesn’t feel right. You’ve never told me that you’ve taken part in anything like this before.”

Piper folded her arms and glared at the back of her sisters heads. “That’s because we haven’t, but I trust Leo.”

“But you said yourself; it wasn’t Leo that told you but some other mysterious whi…” Paige looked around realising that there were strangers listening to her. “Woman.”

“Whatever,” said Piper, finally pulling out a chair next to Paige. “I trusted her and you didn’t have to come.”

Phoebe opened her mouth and looked like she was about to join the fray when the door opened and two woman entered; an older redhead in a smart trouser suit and a young blonde in jeans and a white jumper.

They all jumped when the dark haired woman shouted. “Hey B, I might have guessed that this was your sort of thing.”

Buffy stood stock still. She couldn’t believe her eyes this really wasn’t the person she was expecting to see. “Faith shouldn’t you be locked up behind bars where decent people don’t have to look at you.”

“Haven’t you heard, I’m all good now and people come ask me for help,” said Faith.

“Well they must be desperate is all I can say,” snapped back Buffy, not in the mood for Faith’s snarky remarks.

“What you think only you and the Scoobies are good enough to help people out,” said Faith going on the defensive.

“Faith shut up,” said Buffy. “I’m here to see Willow and I want nothing to do with you.”

“That might not be possible,” said a confident English voice from behind her.

Buffy turned to see a middle aged woman striding into the room with one arm around Willow’s shoulder. Without thinking Buffy threw her arms around Willow and pulled her in close. “How are you?”

“I don’t know. I’m sorry you know…for everything,” said Willow.

“I know, I don’t know what I would have done if it had been me,” said Buffy.

This is all very touching, but could you take your seats please. We don’t have much time,” said the English woman, taking natural control.

“Who are you?” Demanded Faith, still bristling from her early confrontation with Buffy.

“I’m the woman who got you out of jail, but you can call me M,” said the woman.

Carol still felt on the edge of her seat, the mini-confrontation had looked like it was going to kick off big time, at least her first guess about the dark-haired woman, what was it the blonde had called her, Faith was right. She didn’t get the women who were gathered around the table, they were such a rag-bag mixture. Apart from the military woman and the woman the suit they looked more like students or maybe trendy young lecturers.

“Where’s my husband?” Asked Piper. “And why are we here?”

“Not to be rude but I will answer your second question first. You are here to do what you and your sisters and every person in this room does best. Save the lives of innocents,” M surveyed the faces that were now starting to look alert at the mention of saving lives. Good she thought, M had wondered how she was going to persuade them all to take part in this dangerous mission, at least she had some handle on where to go with them, but she was under no illusions; with all these strong and at times bloody minded woman under one roof it was going to be hard to unite and mould them.

Piper decided she wasn’t going to let it go that easy. “Where is Leo then?”

“Oh,” said Willow. “Has he got blonde hair and a nice smile, knows a lot about witches?”

Piper frowned at the redhead. “That sounds a lot like MY husband.”

“He was in England, when he asked me to come here,” said Willow.

M cleared her throat to take the attention back to her. “I think I have to introduce you all so that you know why you have all been bought here. Ladies this room is more heavily guarded than if The President, The Queen, The Pope and the head of the UN was here. We know we have some of the most important people on the planet and we wouldn’t take the risk if we didn’t need to. It’s hard to know where to start. Hmm let’s go with the biggest group, these three ladies here are The Charmed Ones.”

“Wow,” said Willow, looking at Piper, Phoebe and Paige. “Tara would love…would have loved to have met you all.” The redhead buried her head in her hands.

“I’m not quite as well educated as my friend here,” said Buffy. “The Charmed Ones?”

“They are witches and sisters, combined they wield the power of three, bring them together they are most powerful witches on the planet,” said M. “Which brings me to you Buffy and of course Faith over there. These two are The Vampire Slayers.”

“Slayers?” questioned Phoebe. “I thought you were The Chosen One, not Two.”

“It‘s along story,” shrugged Buffy.

“She died; twice in fact,” grinned Faith, enjoying the annoyed look on Buffy’s face.

Carol Jordan tried to catch the blonde woman in military garbs eye, to see if this was just an elaborate hoax or joke. She surprised when M introduced her next

“This is Major Samantha Carter, apart from being one of the world’s top theoretical astrophysicists; she has spent the last few years battling aliens to keep this planet safe…”

“I know a really good psychologist back home and he could really help you people,” said Carol rising from her seat.

“Please D.C.I Jordan I know this hard for you to understand but you are important to this little venture and I would prefer if you didn’t leave,” said M. “You are a good copper and your gift is important.”

“Gift, I have no gift,” argued Carol, who didn’t understand why her legs hadn’t taken her out of the room yet.

“Your memory, D.C.I Jordan is being very modest she has a photographic memory and can remember every conversation she hears,” explained M.

“Whatever, I am leaving you crazy people to it,” said Carol.

“Piper, Paige can you give our doubter a demonstration of your skills?” Asked M.

“Magick shouldn’t be used like it is some sort of toy; it’s a gift and not something to be played with,” said Piper.

M gave her a tight smile. “I realise that and I would not ask you to do this but for the fact we need her on the team. Please, ladies.”

“Don’t bother,” said Carol. “I know frauds and…”

“Bag,” said Paige holding out her hand using her power to scoot the bag towards her.

“What did you do that for?” Asked Piper, freezing the bag in mid-air.

“Well we’d do it eventually. I thought this way it saves all the arguments,” said Paige.

Carol stood with her mouth wide open watching her bag hover in mid-air; she sat carefully back down on her chair. “Do you think I can get my bag back?”

Piper looked at her blankly and then realised she hadn’t unfrozen the bag, it dropped to the table with a thump. Carol eyed it suspiciously not sure if she wanted to touch it or not.

M cleared her throat before continuing. “That leaves us with Dana Scully here and Willow Rosenberg…”

“I don’t know why I am here,” said Willow. “I have no powers. I don’t do magicks anymore.”

“We don’t expect you to, what you are forgetting is the things that made you important to slayer in the first place, your hacking ability,” M explained.

“Oh,” said Willow, clearly taken aback.

“Well I have nothing, Unless you want me to cut up bodies,” Scully noticed the weird looks she was getting. “Dead ones, I do autopsies.”

“You have a use to us Dana, but it’s more to do with your status than anything else.”

Scully narrowed her eyes like Willow she had been put off balance by the response she had received.

“But we are one short I’m afraid,” sighed M. “We were promised.”

Carol almost fell off her chair when Leo orbed in.

“Leo,” said Piper and Willow almost in unison.

M stared at him as he shuffled around like an embarrassed school boy. “Leo?”

He looked skywards. “They said you don’t need her that Paige can do everything that needs to be done.”

“We need both her and Paige we have discussed this,” said M sharply.

“They said she is to new. They are worried about the whole situation, with her emotions,” said Leo.

M raised her voice for the first time “It was agreed. You know or rather they know how serious the situation is; emotions don’t come into this.”

Leo cocked his head listening. “They have agreed, but they won’t be held responsible for the fall out.

As he orbed out with his ominous warning anther white lighter orbed in and in his place was a blonde woman with vivid blue eyes.

“Tara,” cried out Willow

Oh a very exciting update. I love the mix of characters you have all together, I think the fun has just started for many of them. Good to see that Willow is needed because of her hacking, of course I very much look forward to seeing what happens now that Tara has suddenly appeared. I really enjoyed the 'adult' perspective and not understanding why these college student look-a-likes are so important...oh yes they save the worls a lot. Thanks for the update Magrat :)

Veiled isis moon: I will:lol

Pipsberg: are you sure:rofl ? Hope I manage to keep all the different characters going.

Modjadji: it’s one of my biggest faults I just can’t resist a cliffhanger:kdevil

Tim: Tru would have been nice but she wouldn’t have quite fitted in which is a shame because her character has more depth than Faith.

I’m glad you think I had Paige’s actions right; it felt right that it would be something she would have done on impulse without thinking.

FireFlyofDust: I have to say I agree Amanda Tapping is stunning and I love Sam Carter and I really wanted to find away to include her in one of my fics and finally the idea came to me.

Beth: Hi sweetie:wave , glad you are enjoying this fic, at least you get to read this one without having to work on it:wink :lol
