Title: But wait! Theres more...

Author: dulcinea

Feedback: I like feedback. I'm not the best proof-reader of my own writing. So let me know what doesn't make any sense or if you spot any grammer/spelling errors.

Spoilers: I've seen all of s6 so far, so I might refer to anything up to the latest episodes...

Note: Even I don't know where this is going yet. I spent too much of my afternoon watching infomercials, then i went to work.

Disclaimers: The characters aren't mine, and I'll never claim that they are. Sorry Joss, and ME. Also, I'll probably rip off dialogue and song lyrics as I go.

Rating: at the moment, it's looking like a "G"

It was late afternoon. The TV was on, the redhead was lying on the couch, engrossed in the TV. And enjoying the heat of another body, cuddled up by her side. It had been a long time since she’d had the benefit of such close contact. Willow was in no hurry to move, as she didn’t want to wake her new friend up. And anyway, she wanted to know how many payments of $39.95 it would take before she owned her very own "personal fitness center" that would easily pack away under her bed. Chuck Norris had even endorsed it.

Buffy was in a good mood – better than good, actually. Nearing on euphoric. Her shift was over, and she was looking forward to three whole days off. I’m going to blob…well, and patrol too…but my aim is to do nothing all day…unless Willow or Dawn are up for a little shopping…. And, as Buffy opened the backdoor leading to the Summers’ residence kitchen, she smiled even more widely – remembering why she hadn’t eaten her dinner at work, as she usually did.

The first thing Buffy heard as she walked into the kitchen, was Willow shouting from the living area…"DAWN, are you going to ring for a pizza, or do I have to get up". Dawn was sitting at the kitchen bench, grimacing. "Buffy, I’ve had to put up with this all day! She hasn’t moved from the couch since I got home! I don’t even know if she went to class…And it wouldn’t be so bad if she would watch something other than INFOMERCIALS!!!! Someone kill me now." Dawn sighed dramatically, as only a 15 year old girl can do.

"I know, I know…I got back from patrolling the other night, and found her sitting watching Billy Blanks TaeBo workout" but it looked kinda fun…hmmm..what was that phone number again? "Other than the infomercial watching, how are Willow and my favourite new friend getting along?"

Dawn snapped at Buffy wearily "You have legs…the living room’s thataway…I’m going to get the kitchen cleared up a little"

Buffy left Dawn to it…she could live without listening to Dawn complain while she washed up the breakfast dishes. eww, and I think I still smell of beef fat…ick…I’ll say hi to Will and Jimmy…then a quick shower before dinner

"Hey Will…..hello ‘Jimmy with the cutest green eyes and AWWWW….Willow look!! He yawned at me then did the cutest little thing with that big paw of his" Buffy wasn’t usually easily swayed by the sight of her best friend, but Willow and her new cat, Jimmy, just looked so cute together curled up on the sofa. And, well, Jimmy was a bit of a charmer. Dawn had the bright idea of going to the pound and getting a new kitten for Willow – since..well, since she seemed a bit lonely, with Tara and Amy the rat no longer around. Especially since Tara…

So, Dawn and Buffy had got up early on Saturday morning, and headed to the pound. They’d intended to get a new little kitten – black and white, just like the kitten that Tara and Willow had shared back when they were in the dorms. But, as they had walked in, they heard a loud "meow", and had their attention diverted to the biggest, fluffiest cat they had ever seen. And from first sight, they both knew that they couldn’t go home without him. Willow had also been captivated by his charm from the moment Dawn presented the new pet to her. They’d been inseparable since.

"hi buffy, hows it going?" Willow asked, not looking away from the screen. "do you think I need those tapes? I’m thinking I could do with listening to those tapes"

"Willow, you don’t need Tony Robbins to build your self esteem…you are doing fine all by yourself"

"yeah, I know, but after 20 minutes of watching, I feel like I need them…Luckily the phone is too far away, and I can’t move."

Buffy grinned. Infomercials or not, Willow certainly looked quite content. But, little does she know what we have planned for tonight..well, not us exactly…"I’m off to shower the grease away"

"cool…I’ve asked Dawn to order us a Pizza"

"yeah, I heard you ask when I walked in" Buffy wandered out of the living room and up the stairs, toward a nice hot shower…

---------------------------------------------------------

"whatcha watchin’ Will?" Dawn asked as she flopped down on the floor next to the sofa.

"nothing" Willow returned her attention back to the TV. "Dawn, could you do me a favour?"

Dawn considered the request. Asking for a ‘favour’ was one of Willow’s usual ways to get Dawn to do her homework. "sure, unless it involves doing my homework"

"no, ummm…could you get me the phone….and my credit card? I left it on the dining table. I think we need one of those things"

"what things?"

Willow motioned to the TV…"those things!!…a benchtop rotisserie grill…then we could cook a big turkey every Sunday…it only takes 12 minutes a pound!"

Just then, they heard Buffy thumping down the stairs, and a knock at the door. Dawn jumped up and ran to the door, only barely making it to before Buffy crashed into her.

What is up with the 2 stooges? Must be the pizza guy…maybe he’s really cute or something… Willow aimlessly scratched Jimmy’s head as she went back to her infomercial marathon I still think I need one of those. Look how the fat drips off, it’s so healthy! She could hear Buffy and Dawn talking to someone in the hall. it mustn’t be the pizza guy…I wonder who it is There was another muffled voice. A female, Willow thought. A kinda familiar female voice.

"Willow? Hi"

It took a few seconds for Willow to realise who was speaking to her. "Tara!" she squeaked, as she sat up, momentarily forgetting about the cat who had been asleep on her chest. "AAARGH….OWWWW" Willow screached again "CLAWS…NOT THE CLAWS"

Tara stood in the doorway, flanked by the Summer’s women. A slight smile crossed her lips as she saw the cute grimace Willow made when the cat had grabbed hold. The smile turned to a frown as she saw the red gashes down Willows neck. "Umm, hey Will, who's your cute friend?"

TBC…

Oh god that was cute! And I love the fact that Willow is getting seduced by the infomercials.

More please!? :)

Actually, the informercials made me laugh out loud. I know their seductive allure only too well. It doesn't matter that the presenters are shite, it only matters that the goods are cheap and a real bargain. Sigh. :rolleyes

I like the cuteness of this; Willow lying around doing nothing and feeling all low. Bless.

But wait..part B

Postby dulcinea » Sun Apr 07, 2002 4:38 am

title:But wait! There's more...Part B

disclaimer: The characters aren't mine, and I'll never claim that they are. Sorry Joss, and ME. Also, I'll probably rip off dialogue and song lyrics as I go.

The song I quoted in this part is "Amazing" by Alex Lloyd.

Rating: at the moment, it's looking like a "G"

feedback: As usual, let me know if you think its rubbish. And tell me if you think it's okay, it will make me happy, and I'll think you are a really cool person for taking the time.

Note: I'm not quite happy with this part as it is. Storyline...plot...hah...who needs them...okay...I probably do. But I figure, why not post it anyway? I can always rewrite later.

So, if you've made it this far without falling asleep...I bring you...PART B....

"Umm, hey Will, how are you?"

“Good…great…fine…well, apart from the blood pouring from the gashes on my neck…fine. Finey Mcfine fine Yep. Good. Umm..Dawn? Buffy? Blood…seeping down my neck…can I get a little help here?” oh god…what is wrong with me? The woman of my dreams walks in the room, and I’m all snippy “good…fine”..why didn’t I just tell here that I’ve never been better..’yes tara, once I got into recovery mode I discovered how great life is.’ Yeah right. Fine is an overstatement. I can reach “fine” on a good day. Stupid, Will. Sure I want her to realise I am okay and can stand on my own without magic, but I need her to know how desperately I love her and need her by my side if I want to be happy. Willows’ mental flagellation was halted by Dawn returning with the first aid kit. But thankfully the bleeding had abated, and now she could just feel the scratches crusting over.

“so…you’ve got a new roommate then?” Tara had been watching the redhead with concern..and realising how much she missed her Willow. By the expression on Willows face, Tara could tell that, although the girl was silent, inside she was blethering a mile a minute what I wouldn’t give to know hat she was thinking. Does she resent me for leaving? I suppose I’ll find out tonight…if I have the courage

In the meantime, Buffy had retrieved Jimmy from his hiding place. “Tara, meet Jimmy….Jimmy, this is the lady I’ve been telling you about” Buffy introduced the cat..waving his paw at Tara. Dawn and Willow looked on, amused. Willow had appreciated the gesture Dawn and Buffy made, in getting her the cat, and had bonded immediately with him, but that was helped by the way Buffy was interacting with him. Not just the cat, actually, but since Jimmy had been around, Buffy had been a bit more like her old self. For some reason, the introduction of the new household member made the individuals living in the house seem more like a family again. Dawn could see it too. The’d both caught Buffy having long, involved “conversations” with Jimmy. Maybe he was the touchstone they all needed.

Although all Tara wanted to do was stand there and stare at Willow, she knew she had more pressing things to attend to. “Dawn..give me a hand with these groceries.” She nodded towards the bags by the door. Dawn looked happy at the promise of a home cooked meal. “’kay. It’s cool that you offered to come and cook us dinner, Tara. Buffy doesn’t cook…and Willows been couch girl for the last few days” Tara and Dawn picked up the groceries and headed toward the kitchen, Dawn talking a mile a minute, filling her in on all that had happened at school this week.

“You invited Tara to cook dinner? Why didn’t you tell me” Willow looked at Buffy accusingly ”I would have psyched myself up for it. And dressed up a bit. Look at what I’m wearing…not to mention the cat fur”

“Will, I didn’t invite Tara…she rang me this morning, and suggested it. And made me promise not to tell you.”

Back in the kitchen, Dawn was being more of a nuisance than a help. Tara missed the company of the teenager, but right now, she wanted to be alone while she prepared dinner – and she had quite a bit to think about. “Dawn, how about you go and watch TV with Buffy, and make sure Will’s okay? Thanks” okay..so I’m here now…dinners all planned…I wonder when Xander and Anya will get here? For the past week, Tara had been spending a lot of time thinking. Serious thinking. She’d left the Summer’s house a few months ago. Long enough to get some distance and perspective on the reasons she had left. To begin with, she blamed the magic. But that wasn’t the reason. When she’d first met Willow, she hadn’t thought much of herself. over the past 2 years, I’ve grown so much. I remember the first time I was in this kitchen. I wouldn’t even look Joyce in the eye when she spoke to me. I didn’t think I was good enough to have friends. Thanks to the acceptance and love of willow, I’ve realise I deserve the best. I had the best..i just hope I haven’t lost it

Both Tara and Willow had bought their own issues into their relationship. They’d never discussed them, and in the end, it was these issues that had split them apart. Tara’s issues had been the way she perceived herself. Willow had helped change that. Now, Tara was feeling a little guilty that maybe she hadn’t been there for Willow. Although Tara had felt like the junior partner – the one who’d never been in a serious relationship, Willow was the one who had needed the reassurance. Somewhere along the line, Tara hadn’t made it quite clear that she loved everything Willow was. Somehow, Willow had thought that she’d hidden part of herself from Tara – the part she thought Tara couldn’t love. And that had caused the need to control her – to stop her finding out that behind the cool witchy façade, there was a nerdy computer geek who noone could ever really love.

you were amazing Tara still had the song in her head. She’d heard it on the radio the other day. And somehow, the words had helped make her mind up and we did amazing things She hadn’t known how great life could get until Willow had turned up at her door with the ‘extra flamey’ candle and I wouldn’t change it, cause we were amazing things

and I really didn’t want to push that today,

no, I really didn’t want to end this way,

but the things that seem to bind us,

are the things we put behind us on this day..

That chorus had made up Tara’s mind. Although they had been amazing together as two witches, the future of their relationship lay on a different path. The magic didn’t bind them together, it was love. And the fact that she liked Willow a lot. She couldn’t think of anything cooler than the way Willow got when she was intently concentrating at her computer. At those times, Willow seemed so happy, and comfortable.

With that thought...Tara made up her mind. She put the chicken she had prepared in the oven, put her ‘resolve’ face on, and headed to the living area.

“so, who would buy one of those things? How often do you steam clean a window? Really?” Buffy watched the presenter clean paint off a glass pane with a cumbersome vacuum cleaner type thing.

“I don’t know, but maybe we do need to get one. Just in case we ever accidentally get paint on a window”

Both Buffy and Dawn looked at each other – then back to Willow, who was watching the demonstration very seriously. “hey, I don’t think she’s joking” Dawn whispered to Buffy “What is up with her?”

Just as she reached for the portable phone, Tara walked into the room. “ooo…is dinner ready now?” Buffy asked. Tara looked into Willow’s eyes, ignoring Buffy’s question. “We need to talk…can we go up to your room?”

Oh man! Keep going. All you fan fic writers that do cliffhangers suck! You'll be the death of me. Okay...I'll admit, I love angst and teasers. The waiting is just the worst, though. Cliffhangers should only last about 1 hour. There should be a law. :D Great story, by the way.

Thank you all for the great feedback :)

unfortunately, an update might be a few days away. sorry...I'm such a dork, but I had to password protect the word document, so it couldn't be opened by anyone but me (it's not considered good form to write fiction at work), and I've completely forgotten what it was. I know it was easy, something that I thought I wouldn't forget..like "tara" or something.

I've got an idea about what I had written - but my OOS (i've got a stuffed wrist) is playing up, delaying retyping it...and with all the drama I've had in the last week just haven't had the time....although it all turned out well.. if you're interested (and could do with a laugh!) check outmy blog
