Re: preview

Postby Grimlock72 » Wed May 07, 2003 5:58 am

Heh, well that was a fun preview indeed. Morgan is awfully evasise when it comes to the 'real' questions though. Is there any reason why Morgan and Brent can't talk outside the sacred grounds ??

Yes, I know the people outside are vulnerable to attack (my trust in the Keepers standing down for the day is non-existent) but I don't like allowing someone related to the enemy entering a protected area. At the very least I would want to know the reason for the visit before Morgan enters the sanctuary. Heck, I don't want her in there at all :D .

I wonder what's wrong with Brent, is she ill ? If so, with what ??

Happy-bouncy-Willow is all good with me, I like it :) . Tara has to take care with her maternal instinct flaring up a bit too strong at times. I'm not so sure it's wise to take cover/defense-positions in a room with one exit/entrance only. (ok, it has TWO exits, I know... but it's kind of a hard-to-use exit:-).

I'm still very wary of Morgan... VERY wary... must be my paranoia streak :D .

Damn, now I'm late for work... get well soon Lisa but don't rush things on my account ok ? :wave

I loved the preview. I'm curious as to why Morgan is there and what happened with Tara's family.

I hope that you get better soon, and I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the chapter.

Nice preview! You tease. :)

Mia Sara, huh? I had someone more in mind for Morgan like...Jean Marsh (Upstairs, Downstairs; Willow -- the movie with the Little People and Val Kilmer, that is :smug ). She can play evil with a twinkle in her eye, and say "sweet cheeks" while flashing her teeth.

Looking forward to the full chapter!

Loved the preview!

The comments of Brent´s mother made me laugh.

I´m curious about the thing with Tara´s mother.

OK once agian hugging Male coworkers at work. I said to my self na there wont be an update, I was do elaited !

OK

My prediction....

Tara gave the light majic to Willow and kept the dark majic. Or else her mage -o- pause is messing with her!

I always thought that Brent and Brigan were an item guess I was wrong!

I agree with Grimmy I would not letMorgan into the sanctuary unless I knew exactly what she wanted!

AND..... that fact the Brent said to Morgan was not to touch Tara Worries me. that means that they will actually be in the same room together ....BAD IDEA.... What is Brent thinking!

I think that Morgan and Willow will be pals

OR

Morgan and Emily cant decide!!:hmm

Thank you so much for the update

I hope you are feeling better soon being sick sucks believe me!

looking forward to the rest!!!

(there better be Dawn and Bri stuff you are really killing me Dawn Leaves in a day you can't make us wait anymore. I think that Buffy should just say "will you two kiss alread and get it over with"

Lisa of Nine: Great preview, like some others here I'm also very wary of Brent's mother, especially after what she said about Tara's mother and her aunt, what more does she know? and why isn't she telling? I really love happy-giddy Willow, though I was a little worried about her but now that she had the mood swing I feel better, I hope that she will be OK. I also loved when Tara was holding Megan close to the sacred fire, and Brianna helping out with the wood was just so cute, just great. I can't wait to read more.

Thanks so much for the preview! Although I know I shouldn't have read it, because now I'm worried. Anything regarding Tara's mother is very likely to hurt her. Especially when it involves dark magick and the Witches’ Committee.

Brent's mom is kinda funny, but her comments keep reminding me of Anya. She also makes me think of Kaley the meanie (actually I just hate her because I'm a Dawn/Bre shipper)

Oh well, guess I'll just have to wait and see.

PS: Mia Sara? Wow I would never think of her but now that you've mentioned it I can totally picture it. Too bad Mia Sara reminds me that they cancelled Birds of Prey *sigh*

Now that I know there's something to know, I can't not know, just because I'm afraid somebody will know I know. You know? ~ Willow, Buffy Vs. Dracula

Wonderful stuff. But this is making my teeth itch. I know something bad is on the way (how? duh, I have read her other fics!).

The "Cathy" bits cracked me up!

Loved the "Doesn't it get confusing with all these names starting with bee?"

"Muddy litte river nymph" not good.

Babies are calmed by the strangest things. My first son loved to watch the celing fan. My second loves the sound of the clothes dryer.

See, I always imagined Judi Dench as Brent.

But in my mind's eye theater of this it is Rachel Liegh Cook as Bre.

Ceri is a friend of high school. Ok, that doesn't help you though.

Oddly enough I see this hot new director, Amber Benson, as Tara and this really cute actress, Alyson Hannigan (of American Pie fame) as Willow. Can't think of anything else they have been in though.

More soon?

Judi Dench! That's who I've been picturing her as. I knew it was someone specific but I couldn't figure it out. I don't even know who Kate Jackson is ...

Anyways, I haven't been reading fic in forever, but last night I was bored and though maybe I'll check out pens ... and WHOO HOO! I almost died reading the update because we were in the middle of a tornado watch, but ain't nothin' keeping me from this fic. And add me to the Dawn/Bre shipper list. They need to get a clue and get it over with.

Hey, Lisa, thanks so much for the preview!

I hope I won't regret this later on, but I have a feeling Brent's mother isn't a real threat. Maybe it's because I just think she's really cool being a 78-year old lady with her red convertible and her teasing Brent about the cute amazons.

The entire time we see Brent as a leader, the wise mature person and now when she's interacting with her mother, she becomes a little girl again. It's always funny to see that shift (re:Willow) but with Brent it's extra funny. Heh.

As for chapter 16:

Thanks for making me late for class!!! :p Just kidding ya'. I was printing it at school when the bell rang...

I can't wait for this upcoming chapter! But, alas, you're the writer and I am merely a humble reader and so I'll wait for the Anya/Emily/Morgan scenes! That should be fun, if there're gonnabe any... :grin

Great preview. Although I do feel compelled to mention that your preview was as long as many 'normal' sized updates :whistle

I'm loving Morgan's sense of humor so far. I'm really hoping she won't go all 'Big Bad' on us. She had me laughing out loud at work - and coughing/sputtering to cover it up :lol

Looking forward to the 'complete' update!

Hey there!

despite what my cat may have decided, I am alive. ;-)

I am so glad you liked the preview. I see that Shuyaki pointed out, " I do feel compelled to mention that your preview was as long as many 'normal' sized updates."

Hmm... gee now I feel bad. The preview is one quarter the length of the finished chapter (Still needs major edits and tweaks, don't get too excited. I still might delete an entire segment and start over. I'm having it read as we speak to see if it works or if it is too angsty.) You have no idea how many times I write a chapter and toss out half of it. Really, finishing the first draft is the shortest step. Then it gets nerveracking.

I could open a page of "cutting room floor" scenes. Maybe for the Milestones DVD? ;-)

Anyway, just wanted to swing by and say thanks to everyone for the feedback. When my cat was leaving me for dead, I knew you all were pulling for me.

Re: Re:preview

Postby Grimlock72 » Fri May 09, 2003 1:23 pm

I'm still nervous about Morgan, verrry low on the trust meter. I found a rule about letting Morgan onto sanctuary grounds by the way;

Evil Overload Rules

It's #10 on the list, which has many other usefull points for Brent to take note of. Though the guardians seem to have #4 down pat : -->>: .

About Willow being happy, maybe she rejoices the fact that has (pure/light) magic again ? Magic which she has denied herself for many, many years. Come to think of it, Tara still seems to have more trouble with high amounts of magic compared to Willow. Can Cassie come by and check if the power is now evenly distributed among our two favourite wiccans ?

Tara can't have kept the 'dark side' of those mage powers by the way. The power itself is kinda 'neutral' (I think), the fear was that since Willow has far more experience using dark magic v.s. light magic that the 'neatral' magic would have to be used for dark stuff in order for her body to handle it all.

It has been only a few hours since they re-distributed that power though. At least Tara should now feel much better, didn't show when Buffy was lecturing her... heh. Buffy lecturing anyone on anything is laughable. Ah well, guess she figured out not to do that again. (still the ease with which those flame and possibly lack-of-control came on is worriesome)

Enough rambling for today...

Well, I just spent a great deal of my free time (read that as ALL free time) reading this and Unexpected Consequences. May I just say, I now officially worship the ground you walk upon? Truly a writing genius.

I LUUURV Brent's mother, by the way. I think I'm going to have to add 'Pretty please with a hedonistic amazon on top?' to the end of all my requests from now on. And if she's not hanging out with Anya 2 seconds after meeting her, I will be literally scared.

Not that I'm being pushy or impatient at all (ok, maybe just a little) but I was wondering if perhaps you had a guestimate of when we could expect the next chapter? I know you're super-duper-busy and I think we've proved we'll wait as long as necessary, so take your time on it, I was just curious.

I know what you mean. My first son adored ceiling fans...my second one (now 10 weeks old) loves to have his diaper changed. Doesn't matter if he's wet or not, he just smiles like crazy when that diaper comes off. He'll probably streak his high school graduation or something. :)

Sorry for the digression...Lisa, great preview. I can't wait to read more. Out of curiosity, I'm trying to picture who would be Bre, Ceri, Brigh and Emily in a movie? Who would you see in their roles? I do agree though about Judi Dench over Kate Jackson, but hey, you're the genius behind this wonderful fic so you get first choice. :lol

Looking forward to more....

Hey!

Another drive by posting.

I will TRY to post the next chapter tomorrow night. I have some serious edits to make. I had my expert check it over and part of the tone isn't working the way I want. I'm really busy and may have time to do the edits tonight at the hotel, but may not have access to post it.

Pray for me. I face a fate worse than feral squirrels. I'm helping to wrangle 30 third graders on a sleep over field trip. Ugh.

I'm taking my laptop and will try to work on the changes in tone, then as soon as I can get access, I'll post.

Sorry for the delays in replies. I've written to some folks privately, but if I haven't gotten to you, I still plan to.

Stay strong, that Tuesday "show" is almost gone forever and we can live in fan fic!

Well Lisa that was worth the wait. Gotta say I am loving the mageopause a lot :D Oh and Brigh's description of Morgan to Willow/Tara and Ceri cracked me up. Almost as much as Brianna telling everyone about when she had seen there lights before...and Ceri bemoaning her robe.

I think Morgan is more than interested in Willow and she knows far more than she is saying about Tara. Looking forward to cousin Beth's arrival on scene. Although I really don't like the priest guy and i don't want him anywhere near Tara.

I'm loving this story, thanks Lisa :) (hugs) I hope you are all better now.

Ok, once again, I adore Brent's mother. Heh heh... 'Mrs. Sweet Cheeks' :lol

But this should be interesting... Not only do we have the new fun of this 'adorflame', but an actual name (and apparent issue) with the red-ragey 'wrathflame'. That alone should turn out fun. But then we get the added bonus of some dark-magic confrontation, and a bit of deep-dark-past-secret from Mistress Brent herself!

Fun times, fun times.

More please?

Re: Chapter 17

Postby WebWarlock » Tue May 13, 2003 10:35 pm

My thoughts, in no particular order.

I did love the Willow/Tara PG-13 bits, at first I thought they might be a little over the top, but then you had that bit about the adorflame and it made wonderful sense.

Building it up to make everyone feel it was Tara and then switching it to Willow was wonderful. Makes me wonder what the Witches Commitee would have done if Dark Magic Willow had exsisted in your world.

The Beth scenes are building slowly and that is great. Beth just might find her own way even before she gets to see Tara.

Donnie and the Preacher. I think I see where you are going with this, just try to avoid the pitfalls and cliches of using a preacher as a bad guy. I have faith in you, just avoid doing what Whedon has done! ;)

Morgan. I do like her, obviously sharp as a tack. All the Cathy bits are fun. She certainly loves to antagonize doesn't she. Though I would hate to see her powers unleashed. Loved her comments on Willow and Tara's Allaidh. Then Brent threw her own mother into a cell. I seriously doubt it will hold her.

So Bri is the little spy of the compound. Damn, that little girl already has an education.

I am enjoying the build up of the Mage mythology. I would warn you not to make the mages more powerful than the Imbolc mage, but I am sure that I don't need to.

I did miss the Dawn/Bre stuff, but hey can't have it all in one update!

Overall. A great update that really ups the tension and involvement in the story. I can't wait to see what Morgan is really up to. Then there is that whole Maclay issue brewing off-stage!

Great job Lisa!
