Hey Kittens. Well after a long time of not updating, I finally got rid of my writers block and got one written. I do have the other part in my head, I just have to figure a few things out. Maybe my girlfriend can help me out....hmm. Anyway-on with the update and enough of me babbling.
Part 23After the romantic weekend, all the friends decided they needed a night to just relax and hang out with each other. As they gathered around the table, they all couldn’t help but wonder how Mel’s Valentine’s Day was. Ever since she had gotten back, she hadn’t said one word. Add the fact that she was distant looking and very quiet which was completely the opposite of her usual self. The big question was, who was willing to bring up the subject and find out what was up.
“Mel, you ok?” Tara asked handing the pizza box around the table.
“Huh, what? Oh yeah, I’m ok. Just kinda mind wandery stuff. Don’t mind me.”
“But that’s why we were worried. Do you need to talk? I’m always listen girl, no matter how much people think differently when you think about my babble,” Willow said with a grin.
“Maybe later,” Mel replied smirking. She had come to really like the redhead since she met her. Not only did she car for Tara, but Willow always showed how much she cared about everybody around her.
“I’m gonna hold you to that girl. You and I have a talking date. So, no standing me up.”
“You got it. Now let the stuffing of faces commence.”
‘Something is up with Mel. I know everyone is wondering what, but she won’t talk about it unless someone brings it out of her. All I know is that it has something to do with Faith and possibly Chris, but I could be wrong,’ Willow thought. ‘I see the way she looks at him. Poor clueless Chris. For someone so smart, he is really an idiot. Now the big question is, do I call her on the feelings?’
“You ok sweetie?” Tara asked. She had noticed Willow drifting off into thoughtland. Running her hand up her girlfriend’s she hoped to get her attention.
“Hmm, um yeah. Sorry got lost in stuff,” she whimpered as she cleared her throat.
“You sure? You look a little flushed,” Tara questioned as she ran her hand higher on the girl’s leg.
Willow looked over at her girlfriend. She definitely had an evil streak and how she loved it. “I’m fine sweetie. Just distracted.”
“I don’t know how your brain always is working Will. I think mine would explode,” Chris said around a mouthful of pepperoni.
“This from a guy who thinks that thinking is an activity that not everyone needs to be involved in. Besides, you can remember you childhood with a blink of an eye, Mr. Smarty.”
“Aww, shucks. Hey, you going to finish that Tare?” he asked leaning over towards his best friend’s plate.
“Yes Mr. Grabby Hands. Back away from the pizza. I knew we should have ordered more. With you here, you could eat a large by yourself.”
“Yet he stays so skinny. How does he do that?” Willow asked.
“Just lucky I guess,” Chris said winking.
“Ok, so moving on from eating habits. What are you all up to tonight?” Dawn said walking into the room and helping herself to some pizza.
“Hey, when did you get back?” Buffy asked from Chris’ lap.
“Little bit ago. Long trip and need some party action or something. Anything but sitting doing nothing and having no entertainment,” she said with a roll of her eyes.
“Actually we were going to watch a couple films and chill out, but you are definitely welcome to join us,” Tara offered, reaching for another slice of pizza.
“Depends. What you watching?”
“Whatever we can all agree on and by the looks of it we will be watching a chick flick as I am greatly outnumbered.”
“I’m in the mood for Charlie’s Angels,” Willow said with a smile.
“Point proven.”
“Whatever. It has girls and hot ones at that and you can look at them and ogle and they are nothing compared to Tara who is looking at me with a death look and I should shut up before I dig myself a grave and have to figure out a way to come back to life and not have her hating me,” Willow babbled.
Tara shook her head at her lover’s babble. Only Willow could babble like that. “I’m not mad baby. But you just want to watch it for all the running, jumping and smiling. Should I be jealous?”
“Never baby. Besides like I said before, they are nothing compared to you.”
“Aww ain’t that cute. So, movie time now? Before I have to run and use the washroom.”
“Poor Dawnie. No likes PDA’s. Poor baby. You needs a guy or girl.”
“I know this. I’m working on it.”
“Hey if you come to the Bronze on Friday you are bound to find someone. There is always tons of people there and we are playing that night, all the more reason to be there,” Tara said drinking the rest of her drink.
“She’s right. A hottie like you. Who wouldn’t want to date you,” Chris added.
“You hitting on my sister?” Buffy asked as she started cleaning up the table.
“Never, just stating a fact. And you can’t tell me I’m wrong. Who can resist Summers women?”
“No one.”
“You guys are seriously weird. Let’s go watch the movie,” Dawn said rolling her eyes.
“Mel and I will be right there. We have some stuff that we need to talk about,” Willow said looking over at the brunette. Mel looked worried, but she knew she had to tell someone.
“I’ll see you in a bit baby. I love you,” Tara said with a gentle kiss on the strawberry lips.
“I love you. Save a spot on the couch for me.”
Grabbing Mel’s hand to get her attention, she wondered if she could even help her out. The only thing that she knew for sure was that she looked like someone who needed to talk. And if she hadn’t said anything to Chris or Tara it had to be something serious. As the got to the kitchen Willow decided to put the girl’s worries at ease. “Hey no worries. We will only talk about what you want to.”
“Yeah, I know. Umm can we maybe go upstairs because…” Mel left the end of the sentence hanging there.
“You don’t want anyone to hear just yet. I get it. We can go talk in my room.”
As the entered the room Mel couldn’t help but admire Willow. “Thanks Will. Most people that we meet don’t give a second glance about people and only care about themselves.”
“That’s the one thing that people like about me. I care about everyone, even if they don’t know that. It could be an acquaintance or a person I know. Just the way I am. You are Tara’s best friend and if she doesn’t know about it yet, then you prolly need to talk to someone who is objective. Anything you want to say, bring it on.”
“Anything?”
“Anything.”
“Ok, well here goes. I’m just going to say it all and get it over with. I’m sure everyone is wondering how my Valentine’s Day went with Faith. Well, it didn’t. Not really. We had a good time and everything, but on the last night we sat down and started talking. She admitted to me that she liked me, but that she had a crush on someone else. As much as she liked me, she didn’t want to drag it out and hurt me. Which I understand. But here’s the thing. As much as I understand, I’m still kinda hurt you know. She is crushing on Buffy, which is why I have been looking at Chris with a sad expression today.”
“I was wondering about that.”
“Yeah, well it’s not that I like him or anything cause hello gay, but still I just feel bad for the guy,” Mel said taking a deep breath. “But there is a thing that I do feel bad about. I just don’t like the fact that I did lead her on a little bit. I don’t know. I just don’t know what I should do. Do I tell Buffy or do I let it just progress and have her find out herself?”
“Wow. Ok well then. This is what I would say to you. Just let it go. Faith is definitely going to make a move soon. If I remember correctly, Buff did get a call this afternoon and is supposed to meet her tomorrow. But you might want to be there if things happen and Chris needs someone. And if you want, I will tell Tara or you can that way she can help out too. I just don’t want anyone to get hurt.”
“I know what you mean. Now here is another thing. When Dawn left town I was happy that she got that chance to do that, but that is when I started kinda dating Faith. And now that she is back, yeah…”
“You feeling something for Dawnie?”
“Yeah. I just don’t think that she likes me yet.”
“I think she does, but we shall see on Friday,” Willow said with an evil grin.
“What are you planning?” Mel asked with a scared voice.
“Nothing,” Willow said. ‘She is so going to get a girlfriend on Friday. Now how do I go about this?’ she thought contemplating.
