Title: Honey Moon

Author Name: 4evawill

Email Address: CathyTombs@aol.com

Rating: PG?

Disclaimer: Unfortunately, all of these characters belong to Joss Whedon and Mutant Enemy, darn! But I may introduce a couple of my own characters, if I do then I will say. I don't get money from this, I just do it because I love writing.

Feedback: Yes, please

Spoilers: Not really, but some mentioning of the ep Tabula Rasa may be mentioned later on.

Summary: Willow and Tara go on a "honeymoon" but things kind of backfire.

Notes: Let me see – this is my first ever fanfic I’ve had posted on The Kitten, The Witches and the Bad Wardrobe so please don’t be too rough if it’s rubbish!

~~~
Chapter One – Up, up and away!
“Will, are you in there?” Tara knocked on the hotel room door and waited for a moment. Receiving no answer, she slipped the card key into the socket and pushed it open, telling herself all the while that was she was doing was incredibly naughty. The bedroom was a complete mess, most likely because of Buffy. Only one of the large beds – Willow’s, obviously, Tara thought with a grin – was perfectly made and had a couple of stuffed toys set neatly on the fluffy pillows. Tara’s blue eyes lit up as she saw the necklace she had given her ex-girlfriend lying on the bedside table in a small jewellery box cushioned with cotton wool. Stepping over a suitcase, she shut the door quietly and crawled onto Willow’s bed. “Okay, this is not being very good.” She scolded herself aloud, but reached for a cuddly kitten and brought it up to her chest. “Stop it, Tara.” Tara continued, and grinned, reluctant to leave her now very comfortable position. “You’re not dating Willow anymore. You shouldn’t be in here, she asked you to return the card.”
How long she lay there snuggled up with Cuddly Miss Kitty Fantastico Tara didn’t know, but as the sun began to sink beneath the water she heard voices outside the door and a card fiddle into the lock. Panicking, the blonde rolled over and landed with a thump on the other side of the bed.
“I had a really great time.” Willow’s familiar voice said cheerfully. There was a loud scraping noise, probably Willow pushing the suitcase out of the way. Tara peered over the bed and saw a strange, pretty woman standing in the doorway, smiling at Willow with what looked like admiration. Tara felt sick with envy.
“Me too.” The stranger said in her husky, sexy voice. “Can we go out tomorrow night?”
“Sure.” Willow replied with a high giggle. “Meet in the lobby at seven?”
“Fine by me.” The door shut behind the woman and Tara jumped to her feet, her eyes filled with tears. Willow turned and let out a gasp as she saw her ex-girlfriend.
“Tara!”
“Didn’t take you long, did it?” Tara said in a voice that came out a lot harsher than she had expected.
“Wh – oh, no, Tara, she’s not – I mean, we’re not – we’re just friends.” Willow finally finished, sinking down onto Buffy’s unmade bed. “What are you doing here, anyways?”
Tara shrugged, feeling her throat choke up with sobs. “I don’t know, I guess I kind of thought that I’d made a mistake…”
“A mistake?” Willow frowned but her green eyes were lit up with hope.
“Yah, I mean – I guess, if magic means that much to you then – it hurt, what you did, but I miss you. I did miss you. But I guess that only makes one of us.” She turned and stared out of the window at the long sandy shores of LA.
“No, Tara, I told you. Carrie’s just a friend. She’s staying in the room across the hall and we decided to get together.”
“Thanks but I don’t need a complete story of how you met your second gay love.” Tara retorted furiously. Her hand shot to her mouth. She had never, ever imagined herself saying anything like that. Willow looked hurt and confused.
“Tara – I can’t seem to be saying anything to make this better but – I swear, Carrie is just a friend. It’s you I love. I barely know her. And if you want to make things up then…”
Tara lowered her head, her long blonde hair falling over her face. “I – I don’t know.”
Willow’s lower lip quivered and she jumped up off the bed as Tara made towards the door. “No! I mean, please don’t go. Look, if you want, I’ll never see Carrie again. I’ll – I’ll – I’ll tell her I don’t want to be friends. Anything. Just – please don’t go.”
Tara smiled weakly. “I don’t want you to break your friendship. If that’s what it is then…”
“It is, it is!” Willow exclaimed. She reached out a hand and touched Tara lovingly on the shoulder. Tara reached up her own hand and grasped Willow’s, smiling.
“Okay.”
“O – okay? As in, okay you believe me? Or okay as in…” She trailed off, not wanting to jinx it. Tara shook her head, still smiling happily despite the single tear that had escaped down her cheek.
“No. Okay as in – I guess we could make things work. If you’re willing to try again.”
“I am.” Willow felt her heart float up to the ceiling. “Oh, I am. So much.” She leant forwards and gave her new girlfriend a tender kiss on the lips. Tara responded eagerly for a couple of seconds but suddenly pulled away.
“Wait. No.”
“No?” Willow looked crushed.
“Let’s make it special.” Tara winked mischievously. “Let’s go away. On holiday. A – sort of honeymoon.”
“Honeymoon.” Willow repeated. She beamed. “I like that.”
~~~

“I cannot believe you guys are back together! This is so huge!” Dawn exclaimed with an excited yelp as she watched Willow and Tara rush around the hotel room, throwing things into an empty suitcase. “And a honeymoon. That is so cute!”

Willow grinned and grabbed Tara’s hand. “Tare-bear’s idea. And I personally think it’s brilliant.”

“Me too.” Buffy chirped from the corner of the room where she was sprawled out on the single armchair. “So, I get the whole room to myself now? Cool.”

“Not so fast.” Willow warned her best friend. “Xander and An wanted a break as well so they’ve nicked Tara and Dawn’s room. You get baby sis in with you.”

“Baby!” Dawn was indignant, but her eyes still shone with happiness for the reunited couple. “I am not a baby.”

“No fair.” Buffy complained, sounding more and more like a five-year-old. “She snores.”

“Do not!”

“Do too!”

Willow rolled her eyes. “Hey!”

Dawn and Buffy stopped in the middle of their argument, Buffy’s arm raised threateningly and Dawn’s bag hanging from her hand warningly.

“I am not your mother so don’t make me send you both to bed.” Willow continued. “Now, we just have to get a couple of Tara’s things and then we’re off. I called the owner on Tuesday and it should be ready by the time we get there.” She gave the blonde a quick kiss on the lips. “Hon, I’ll just go and call Xander, say we're ready to be taken to the airport now."

“Don't be too long.” Tara reluctantly let go of Willow’s hand. Dawn held her own hands to her chest and let out a coo.

“Aw, you guys are so adorable! This is the best day of my life.”

“What about the day they invented cherry Jell-O?” Buffy piped up. Dawn shrugged.

“Apart from then.”

~~~
Tara and Willow walked through the pretty grounds of their rented cottage in the countryside of England, looking around in awe at the wild flowers. “It’s so much more beautiful than Sunnydale or LA even.” Tara said softly, kneeling down and plucking a single bluebell from a mossy blanket. “Now I understand why Giles loves England so much.”
“Uh-huh.” Willow hadn’t noticed their surroundings since they had arrived two days ago. She had been too busy gazing at her girlfriend with rapture.
“Will, look at the view.” Tara blushed as she realised Willow was still staring at her. “It’s gorgeous.”
“Not as gorgeous as you, sweetie.” Willow whispered, stroking Tara’s arm. “Have I ever told you how beautiful you are?”
Tara blushed even redder, if that were possible. “Really?”
“Oh, yeah.” Willow said with such sincerity. “You are by far the most beautiful woman on this planet.” And she too bent down and scooped up a handful of bluebells. “Tare-bear… I was wondering – there’s this new spell – and it’s nothing big, and there is no way it can hurt anybody – in fact, from what I’ve read it’s really adorable – and I mean, if it’s okay…”
“Will!” Tara butted in before the redhead could go off on another babbling spree. “I – I don’t want you to ask permission to use magic. As long as it isn’t dark things, then – and as long as it isn’t to solve problems like Buffy then…”
Willow smiled. “Okay.”
She whispered a single Latin word under her breath. The clouds in the blue sky floated into nothingness, the trees swayed from a slight breeze, and the large bouquet of bluebells she was holding burst, showering the old new couple with tiny blue petals.
Many thanks to pacou, snuggle79, TheWhiz and my very own star sister, Miss1234Kitty. NEW FIC: Honey Moon, part 2 (Another Spell)
Postby 4evaWill » Fri Sep 06, 2002 3:11 pm
Chapter Two - Another Spell
The flames flickered in the fireplace, creating a cosy effect in the small family room of the rented cottage. Willow moved around the adjoining kitchen, making a pot of tea as she had declared to Tara that as they were staying in England they may as well live British-style. Tara herself was sprawled out on one of the mismatching armchairs, involved in looking up a spell that she planned to surprise Willow with. After the beautiful Aknoia, the remembrence that magic was not all bad had been rediscovered and Tara had decided silently that she could do a translation to prove her love just as well as Will could.
        “Tea.” Willow said cheerfully, setting the two steaming mugs onto the wooden end table and squeezing in the tiny gap between Tara’s feet and the arm of the chair. “What you doing?”
        “Uh – um, nothing?” Tara bumbled, turning the research book slightly so that the redhead couldn’t see what she was reading. Willow looked hurt for a millisecond and then shrugged, all smiles again.
        “Well, do you want to go to bed early tonight?”
        “Nah, I’m not really tired. Why, hon, are you?”
        Willow sighed, realising that she was getting nowhere and Tara was in one of her space-out moods. “No. I just meant…”
        Tara smiled. “I’m sorry, baby. There’s something I’ve been wanting to do.”
        “Like..?”
        “Like, a spell.” Tara explained sheepishly. “I kind of need your help.”        “Yay, a joint spell! I love it when we do spells together, it’s so much better than solo.” Willow yelped happily and clapped her hands together. “Okay, what spell is it? What do I have to do?”
        “You didn’t happen to bring any candles, did you?”
        “As a matter of fact, yes!” Willow jumped to her feet, then grimaced. “Oh-oh, I’m being over-excited again, aren’t I?”
        “No, no.” Tara reassured her quickly. “I – I think it’s quite sweet.”
~~~

Tara placed two of the settee cushions on the floor whilst Willow lit the circle of candles surrounding the book in which the spell was.

        “So, remind me again what we’re doing this for?” Willow frowned, confused.

        “Uh, I never actually told you.”

        “Okay, remind what we’re doing this for?”

        “A secret.” Tara tapped the side of her nose. “My present to you, celebrating our honeymoon.”

        “Ooh. Oh, wait.” Willow finished lighting the last candle. “This hasn’t been your secret revenge and you’re going to send me to some Hellmouth, are you?” She was joking, but it came out more serious than she had expected and Tara looked hurt.

        “Willow!”

        “Sweetie, I was joking.”

        “Oh.”

        Tara sat down on one of the cushions and motioned for Willow to sit down on the other. “Um – we need to hold hands.”

        “No problem there.” Willow obediently touched Tara’s fingers, and felt the familiar spark flying through her. “Whoa! Magic.”

        “I felt that too.” Tara replied softly, and grasped Willow’s hands properly. She closed her eyes. “Spirits of the moonlight, we call upon thee…”

        “Spirits of the moonlight, we call upon thee…” Willow echoed.

        “Bring us to that magical place…”

        “Bring us to that magical place…” Willow closed her own eyes, feeling the heat rise up through her body. She gasped, realising that she was becoming short of breath.

        “Where the love and power was beheld…”

        “Where the love and power was beheld…”

        “Show us the meaning.” The last sentence was spoken in unison by the two women and the whole family room was filled with a blinding white light.

~~~
Tara looked around her, confused. She was pretty sure that her spell had gone awry because this was not at all what she had expected. For one, Willow wasn’t there. And although the place was even more beautiful than the countryside, or anything Tara had ever seen before, and she wanted to stay there forever and ever, something just wasn’t right. “Will?” She called out, and her voice echoed through the emptiness.
        “Tara?” Willow’s familiar voice was heard. An immense feeling of relief flooded through the blonde and she pushed her way through the white mists. “Tara!” Willow’s voice was closer now.
        “Willow, I think the spell went wrong.” Tara swallowed, willing herself not to cry. But why did these things always happen to her? She had wanted to, in a way, prove to Willow that she could do beautiful things with magic too.
        “Hey, baby, don’t worry. We’ll figure out where we are.”
        “I’m so sorry.” Tara bit her lip so hard she drew a small amount of blood. “I – I just wanted to show you our magical times.”
        “Hey…” Willow stroked Tara’s cheek. “When I’m with you, everything is magical. I mean it.”
        Tara smiled weakly. “Really?”
        “Yes, really. Now, let’s go find some person to help us out of here.” Willow grabbed Tara’s hand.
~~~

“What do you mean, we can’t get out of here?” Willow demanded of the elderly man perched on the stone steps of a strange looking cathedral. He took a drag from his pipe and nodded.

        “Yah, no way out without the key. An’ you don’t ‘ave the key.”

        “Is that the exit?” Tara butted in, pointing towards the doors to the cathedral. The man nodded wordlessly, and Willow and Tara started up the steps. The stranger appeared in front of them.

        “Nah, can’t do that.”

        “Why not? We made a mistake with a spell we cast. It was an accident, us ending up here.”

        The man frowned and stroked his white goatee. “What was the spell?”

        Tara pondered for a moment. “Uh – spirits of the moonlight, we call upon thee, bring us to that magical place, where the love and power were beheld, show us the meaning.”

        “Uh huh. That’s the right entrance spell. You’re in the right place.”

        “But where? I mean…” Willow trailed off as she realised that the stranger and his cathedral had disappeared into the white mists. “Oh.”

        “So… we’re trapped?” A tear rolled down Tara’s cheek.

        “No. No, we’re not.” Willow swallowed. “I know this may sound corny but – I can’t be trapped if I’m with you.”

        Tara’s smile told Willow that she felt the same way.

NEW FIC: Honey Moon, part 3 (What now?)

Postby 4evaWill » Sun Sep 08, 2002 6:55 am

Chapter Three – What now?

Tara was bored, and she expected Willow was as well. They had been wandering aimlessly around that… place, whatever place it was – for what felt like years. The one building they had seen, the cathedral hadn’t been spotted again, and neither had the one other living being turned up. As Tara’s legs began to strain from the effort of holding herself up, she checked the transparent ground beneath her feet and lowered herself to the ground, Willow doing the same.

        “So, what are we supposed to do now?” Tara asked the redhead, leaning back on her arms and staring at the white fog above her. “Do you know a reversal spell or something?”

        Willow searched her denim jacket’s pockets. “Well, I do, but we need some special materials. Two lavender candles and a lily flower.”

        “Oh.” Tara pouted. “Great. So, what, we’re just going to wander around for days? Unless they have those little neon signs saying exit, which I doubt.”

        “I’m hungry.” Willow moaned, rolling over onto her front. She emptied her pockets again. “Okay, we’ve got two sticks of gum and a mouldy M&M.”

        Tara grimaced.

        “What about you?”

        “Uh – I empty my pockets out before I put my clothes in the wash.” Tara admitted, turning her own leather jacket inside out. “See?”

        Willow grinned. “So now we know whose stuff that comes out of the washer belongs to.”

        Tara was shocked. “I’ve been blaming Miss Kitty Fantastico! I thought she was collecting things from around the apartment and shoving it in when the door was open.”

        “Oh. Naughty kitten!” Willow exclaimed, looking sheepish. Tara shook her head, smiling.

        “Now, back to how we’re going to get out of here.”

~~~
Willow looked over at Tara, who had fallen asleep about ten minutes earlier after another three hour walk to nowhere. Sighing, Willow tried desperately to wrack her brain for a spell that would get them free. “Oh, I give up.” She snapped finally, and lay on her back. For the first time she noticed that the white mist above them had disappeared, and she was staring at a blue, cloudless sky. “Hmm,” Willow ran her hands through her short red hair and let out a gasp. “That’s it!”
        “Whaa?” Tara muttered, awoken by Willow’s cry. “What’s it?”
        “Tare-bear, I know how we can get out of here.”
        “You do!” The look on the blonde’s face was one of pure happiness. “Yay! Oh, I could kiss you!”
        Willow smiled slyly. “That could be arranged.” She leaned into Tara, who responded eagerly for a couple of seconds then pulled away.
        “Let’s just get back to the cottage first, hon, and then we can stay an extra week to make up for lost time.”
        “Right.” Willow closed her eyes and lay back again. Tara watched, frowning. It just looked like her girlfriend had gone to sleep. “I’m not asleep.” Willow said softly as if she could read Tara’s mind. “I’m going to try and communicate with Buffy, see if she can get Anya to find a spell in the Magic Box.”
        Tara lay next to Willow and gently slid her hand into Willow’s.
~~~

Buffy frowned. “What?”

        Dawn stared at her. “I didn’t say anything.”

        “Yes you did. You said my name."

        “No, I didn't."

        “What are you talking about, how can you be lost? You’re right here with me!” Buffy snapped at Dawn, who looked taken aback.

        “Uh – I beg your pardon?”

[Buffy!]

        “Okay, you heard that, right? I'm not going crazy.” Buffy said to Dawn, who nodded, a frown crossing her own pretty face.

[Guys, something’s happened.]

        “Is that you, Will?”

[Yes. Now, Tara and I – we’re, I don’t know. Well, we tried a spell and it seemed to backfire. Now we’re in the middle of nowhere – literally.]

        “What do you mean?”

[Look, we have no idea where we are, there is absolutely no food or water and it feels like we’ve been here for years. I need you guys to cast a spell to get us out of here. We don’t have any spells on us.]

        “What kind of spell?”

[Um – hang on.]

        Buffy could have sworn that she could hear Tara and Willow talking quietly, as if they were on the other end of the telephone.

[A reversal spell won’t work, because it will just reverse the spell you last cast. Uh, try a summoning charm.]

        “Okay, and where can we find that?” Dawn piped up, and waited for an answer but there was none. The connection had been broken.

~~~
“So, what do we do now?” Tara asked glumly as Willow opened her eyes and got to her feet. The redhead grabbed Tara’s hand and pulled her girlfriend up as well.
        “I don’t know how long this is gonna take, so we might as well kill some time.” She smiled wickedly. “Get what I mean?”
        Tara returned the grin. “Oh yes.”
Your replies have encouraged me so much to continue doing what I love.
Sorry, the fourth chapter is fairly short, I kind of got writer's block for the past couple of evenings when I write my chapters and I couldn't make it any longer. Hope you like. Oh, and remember that guy from the second chapter, the weirdo who seemed to own a cathedral? Well, he's back, and he is mine. But I haven't given him a name. He doesn't have a huge role.
Chapter Four – Heavenly Dimensions
Tara stretched her arms out above her head and smiled down at Willow, who was fast asleep on her chest. It had been about two hours since Willow communicated with Buffy to see if she could help the couple get out of the ‘freaky but nice place cause we’re alone’ as Willow had nicknamed it. Willow’s knee-length wool cardigan was the only thing that covered them up, and Tara shivered, suddenly cold. Pulling her clothes out from underneath her head, Tara scrambled into her jeans and spaghetti strap pink top. Willow stirred, awoken by the blonde’s movements, and her eyes fluttered open. Immediately she pouted as she saw her girlfriend fully dressed.
“Baby, you’re dressed!”
“Yeah.” Tara grinned. “Well, I thought we’d better see if we can get through to Dawnie again, see how they’re doing with getting us out of here.”
“You know, I kinda prefer it here to England or Sunnydale.” Willow reluctantly slipped into her own jeans, her sleeveless blue top and her white cardigan. “I mean, have you been counting the amount of times? I think that’s a record.” She slyly reached for Tara’s center. “Maybe we could make it into the Guinness Book Of Records.”
Tara swallowed, then backed away as Willow began to get more intimate. “No, honey, I think we’d really better find out how long we’re gonna be here.”
“Fine.” Willow pouted again for about half a second then closed her eyes and tilted her head towards the blue skies.
“You won’t get through to them.” A familiar voice said, and the elderly ‘goatee’ man stepped out from the mist, shaking his head. Willow’s eyes shot open and Tara moved in front of the redhead protectively.
“What do you mean?” Willow peered over Tara’s shoulder. The man snapped his fingers and perched on the tree stump that had appeared. “Who – who are you?” Willow continued suspiciously.
“That’s not an important question.” The man replied mysteriously, crossing his ankles and arranging the long white robes around him, reminding Tara of an angel she had seen on a television programme.
“What is an important question to…” Willow began, but Tara nudged her sharply and glared at the man.
“You weren’t any help before, and I have no reason to believe you will be now, so what are you doing here?”
“Ah, but I am going to be of some use this time, Blondie.” The ‘angel’ smirked, but his stunningly blue eyes held seriousness. “I’m surprised two women as much in love as you are haven’t figured it out by now.”
“Figured what out?” Willow was obviously getting impatient, as she had started tapping her foot loudly on the transparent floor.
“Tut, tut, patience, Red.” The ‘angel’ shook his head again, and for a second he bore a very similar resemblance to a certain blond vampire. At the girls’ glares, he sighed. “Where you are.”
“Where – well, you see, at the moment we don’t care where we are, we just want to get out of here!” Willow snapped. This stranger was beginning to seriously get on her nerves. “Now stop being – uh – stalling, and give us some hints.”
“Ah, I can do more than hint. I can tell you where you are, and where you shall be.” The ‘angel’ cleared his throat. Willow and Tara stared at him, waiting.
“Well?” They asked unison after about two minutes.
“You are in a heaven.”
“Heaven!” Tara and Willow exclaimed together in horror. He smirked again.
“Ugh, so naïve. No, not Heaven. A heaven. There is a large difference.”
“Oh, you said that there was a gazillion difference heavenly dimensions once.” Willow reminded Tara. “I’m guessing that this is one of them.”
“But…” Tara trailed off, and her blue eyes filled with sudden tears. “I mean, the only way to get into a heaven is... I mean, are - are - are we... dead?”
The man got to his feet, snapped his fingers again and causing the surroundings to change. He began to fade into the background. “That’s for you to decide.” He boomed, and vanished.
You know, me, always for a bit of smut ;)
That was again very interesting. At the beginning of that part I thought ‘hey, maybe they’re in heaven’ and boom, they are!
So, WHERE they are is answered but WHY and HOW? :hmm
New questions you have to answer! :)
Soon, please :)
Thank you for writing this!
Sorry. Update as soon as poss.
Postby 4evaWill » Tue Sep 10, 2002 12:36 pm
Sorry, I've had another bout of writer's block :cry and I'm not sure when I can write let alone post chapter 5. I'd like to say sorry to "daddykat" and anyone else who got confuzzled by where the gang were at the beginning - I confuzzled myself a bit as well, I just had this instinct to place them in a hotel. Well, here's why they were where they were:
The fanfiction takes place after Tabula Rasa, and so they decided to take a break because of all the - well, goings on - and so Buffy, Tara, Willow and Dawn are staying in a hotel just outside of Sunnydale. As you read later on you see that Anya and Xander nick Tara and Dawn's room when Tara and Willow go away. I know, a lam-o reason but hell, I've got writer's block.
Sorry again about the confusion.I guess I should have explained that, huh? *slaps hand* bad Cath! :punch
The usual thanks to:
For posting replies. Promises to "pacou" and "TheWhiz" that all the questions will be answered very soon!
Honey Moon: Chapter 5 (Queries)
Postby 4evaWill » Fri Sep 13, 2002 3:24 pm
I bet I'm confusing everybody again, I just read my last reply I posted and my first chapter and I'd like to make an adjustment - The gang aren't staying just outside of Sunnydale, they are staying in LA but by this chapter they are back in Sunnydale again. Sorry for the mix up, I forgot the minor details of Chapter One and read about Tara looking out on LA's beaches. Whoops! Sorry again. Here's the next chapter:-
~~~

Chapter Five – Queries

Willow and Tara stared at each other, identical expressions of shock and confusion evident on their faces. Breathing heavily, Willow sat down on the wooden bench that had coincidentally appeared underneath her and buried her head in her hands for a few seconds before running her hands through her short red hair.

“What did he mean by that?” She finally demanded of her girlfriend, frowning. “I – I don’t understand. What did he mean, it’s for us to decide whether we live or die? Tara, I’m confused.” She was close to tears, and the pitiful, pleading look in her green eyes made the blonde’s heart rip.

“Sweetie, don’t be confused.” Tara sat down next to Willow and wrapped a reassuring arm around her lover’s shoulders. “We’ll get through this, right? I mean, it’s not the largest catastrophe in the world.”

Willow’s head shot up, her cheeks wet with tears. “What are you talking about? We’re lost in some sort of heavenly dimension and…”

“Yes, we are.” Tara agreed. “But we have to think of it in perspective. We’re not alone. We have each other and we always will. And a heaven – that’s a good place. We could be happy here.”

“But Buffy – and Dawnie and Xander - all our friends, our home…”

“My home is with you, Will.” Tara said honestly. “Now, let’s stop thinking about the negative and start concentrating on making things better – on finding a way out. Yeah?”

Willow hesitated for a moment and then nodded, wiping her tears and sniffling. “Thanks, baby.”

“You’re welcome.” Tara beamed, and for a couple of moments the couple sat on the bench in silence, completely unaware of their beautiful surroundings and focused on each other, not thinking about exiting but just gazing into each other’s eyes.

~~~
“Ugh!” Dawn exclaimed in disgust, slamming the thousandth book shut and shoving it onto the growing pile on the table in the Magic Box. She, Buffy, Anya, Xander and even Spike had been gathered searching for a Summoning Charm for what felt like days. Xander and Buffy had both worked through the night in anxiety for their lost best friend and close friend, but Spike had reluctantly agreed to take Dawn home for some rest, although they had arrived bright and early in the morning. “I can’t find anything in here!”
Anya nodded in agreement and got to her feet, wincing as she tried to straighten her back. “You know, this isn’t how I planned to celebrate our engagement.” She snapped at Xander, whose red and sore eyes were anxiously scanning a heavy ancient book. “I expected us to be in that hotel all holidays, getting it on and having a good time.” She scowled.
“An, I’m sorry that you’re disappointed but this is Will and Tara we’re talking about. As in, we nor they have any idea where they are and for all we know they could be being tortured in some hell dimension!” Xander snapped back. “Look, I’ll make up for it as soon as we know that they’re safe.”
“Fine.” Anya stomped over to the counter, her face still creased in a frown. “But you owe me big time, Xander Lavelle Harris.”
Dawn snorted despite her frustration. “Lavelle.”
Xander glared at her, then at Anya. “Do you have to use my full name?”
“Whatever.” Anya banged her fist against the top of the cash register, and the drawer flew open. “I’m counting the money.” She announced to no one in particular, carefully peeling the notes out of their places.
~~~

“You know, we really should get started on searching for a way out.” Tara said softly. She and Willow had been exploring the heavenly dimension for about twenty minutes, and every second had kept them in a trance. There was a peace there that neither had ever felt before. It reminded them vaguely of England, with the green grass and the lake, but not even the countryside could compare to this – paradise. The fields were so green that they looked like they had never been touched, the sky was a pure, cloudless blue, and the lake shimmered from the rising sunlight yet there was no sign of movement below the clear water. Willow nodded in agreement, but entwined her fingers in Tara’s and pulled the blonde down to sit by the edge of the lake.

“You were so right, Tare-bear.” Willow admitted, pulling off her boots and placing her sore feet into the cold water, sighing with relief. “I am happy here.”

“Happier than ever.” Tara agreed, imitating Willow’s movements and pulling her jeans up to her knees. Her hand flew to her mouth as she realised what she had just said. “I mean, not that I’m not happy in Sunnydale…”

“Oh, totally.” Willow frantically nodded. “I love Sunnydale, Sunnydale is a great place to love, I love Sunnydale, um, did I say I loved Sunnydale?”

Tara smiled at the usual Willow-babble. “Yeah, hon, you did.”

“Oh.” Willow lay back on the grass and stared at the sky. “But, without all the monsters and ghoulies, I feel like a normal person. Without the magic.”

“Willow!” Tara pasted a look of mock-horror on her face. “You mean after all this time you still don’t like the ghoulies and vampires! After, you know, being knocked into a coma, and that thing with Glory, and the Key, and Buffy’s issues with vampires – the not fighting part, I mean, and making friends with demons and vampires, you mean to say that you don’t like them!”

Willow laughed, but it was forced. “I don’t know, I – I just wish sometimes that things could be normal. I worry almost all the time about something happening to the people I love, and that’s so much more likely in Sunnydale.” She pulled herself into a sitting position and wrapped her arms around her knees. “I worry about you, Tare-bear, after everything that you – we – have been through.”

Tara was just about to reply when an incredibly familiar figure crossed the water and stood on the bank, his arms folded.

“That was a very touching speech, Red. Can I hear it again?”

Willow and Tara exchanged looks. This guy was getting annoying. Scrambling to her feet, Willow stepped forwards, her arms folded.

“What are you?”

“Well, that’s a nice way to greet an old friend.”

“Look, we – we know some pretty dangerous spells.” Willow threatened, getting angry. Hopefully the guy didn’t know that the most dangerous spell they knew was sending a rose shooting across a dormroom. “So, tell us who you are and how we can get outta here, or else.”

“Are you sure you want to get out of here?”

“Don’t change the subject!” Willow yelled, losing her temper. Tara placed a restraining hand on Willow’s arm, and the redhead lowered her voice. “Can you please stop being so difficult? At least tell us who you are.”

The man pondered for a moment, then nodded reluctantly. “Okay. The name is Celius. I’m the Creator of this dimension.”

“So, if you’re the Creator then you should know how to get us out of here.” Tara spoke up, rolling her jeans down and standing up beside Willow. He stared at her.

“I know for a fact that you, Blondie, would much rather be here than in Sunnydale or anywhere else.” As Tara flushed, Willow stared at her, frowning.

“What is he talking about, Tara?”

“Uh – so, so do you know how to get out?” Tara hastily changed the subject, realising with dread that Celius could tell her most intimate secrets. He shook his head, tutting.

“Once again, both so naïve. Remember our first encounter? Things haven’t changed in the slightest since then. You still need the Key to get – home.”

“Well, you can’t be thinking of the same Key we are.” Willow glanced over at Tara, who was busy studying the ground. “Dawnie’s not even the Key anymore, anyways.”

“Silly Red.” Celius snorted. “The Key isn’t a human being. I really think I should explain things to you, otherwise you will be here forever.”

“Good idea.” Willow retorted, and slipped her hand into Tara’s to stop herself getting angry again. “So, explain.”

“The spell you cast was to show the love that you two had for each other.” Celius began, motioning for them both to sit down as if he were about to tell them a bedtime story. “You both thought that the spell had gone drastically wrong.”

“It had, though.”

Celius silenced Willow with a steely glare. “I am the best judge of that, and no, it hadn’t. The reason you are here is to express your most intimate secrets…” And at this point, he looked directly at Tara, who turned red again and started plucking the grass. “Your feelings for each other will grow through your time here, for you will get to know the other better, and become as one person.” He smiled for the first time, and for a moment Willow was sure his eyes had become a little misty. “That is the reason you are here. You are to know each other better than you know yourselves. And once that happens, you will be free to go home. But only if you wish.”

His smile faded. “Make the most of your time in the heaven, girls. It may be the last moments you spend together.”

Honey Moon: Chapter 6 (Intimate secrets revealed)

Postby 4evaWill » Tue Sep 17, 2002 12:51 pm

Chapter Six - Intimate secrets revealed

“Fears?”

        “Horses, frogs and being in front of a large audience.” Tara replied promptly to Willow’s question, and leant back on her elbows, her pretty face creased into a slight frown. “Hon, why are we doing this exactly? It’s not like Celius is going to sit us down at a desk to quiz us on our likes and dislikes.” She gazed out at the clear blue lake, and longed to go for a swim. The sun was directly above them now, and the heat was sweltering.

        “Well, he did say that we have to know each other inside out.” Willow reminded the blonde. She was sprawled out on the wooden bench, her chin cupped in her hands and a thoughtful expression on her face as she pondered another question to ask. “Um, who was the guy who called me a nerd in college?” She shrugged as Tara stared at her. “I’m running out of questions.”

        “Percy. I can’t remember his last name. You were his tutor in high school as well.”

        “Ooh, extra points!” Willow grinned. “Yup. At that Aftershock Party. Okay, hang on, let me think of another one.” For five minutes afterwards, the two sprawled in silence, Willow deep in thought as she tried to wrack her brain and Tara just staring into the distance, her own mind completely misty. “What did he mean?” Willow suddenly asked.

        “Uh – what did who mean?”

        “Celius. He said you had a secret or something like that had to be revealed.”

        Tara swallowed. “Thought of anymore questions, or is it my turn?”

        “Don’t change the subject!” Willow snapped in a very un-Willow like manner. She sat up and slid off the bench to join her girlfriend. “You heard what he said, we have to know everything, secrets and all.” She looked slightly hurt. “I thought we did, but obviously not.”

        “Will… can we really trust this guy? I mean, how do we know that the spell went wrong after all and he’s just trying to muck our relationship up?”        Tara exclaimed desperately, terrified of letting the redhead know the truth. “What makes you certain he’s who he says he is?”

        “I just know.” Willow replied stubbornly, and wrapped her arms around her waist. “Tare-bear… I understand if you don’t want to tell me, if it’s really that bad, but it’s the only way we can get out of here.”

        Tara’s blue eyes shone with tears. “I – I – I don’t… I mean, I – I can’t.” She got to her feet and walked to stand on the edge of the water. Willow gazed at Tara’s back, hurt. “Please don’t be mad, Willow.”

        Willow winced slightly at the use of her full name. Hardly ever did the blonde call her Willow anymore. It was either Will, or baby, or a hundred other pet names, but almost never Willow. “Why would I be mad? Mad about what?”

        “Wh – what I’m about to tell you.” Tara took a deep, shaky breath and turned back around, revealing her wet cheeks and forlorn expression. “I never told you this because I thought – I thought you wouldn’t understand.”

        “Tara, I will always understand.”

        “You have no idea how hard it is for me to say this.” Tara began to sob. “I’m so sorry, so, so sorry.”

        “Tara!” Willow leapt to her feet and drew Tara into a hug. “Please don’t, I can’t stand it when you’re like this. Tell me.”

        “All… a – all my life, there – there’s been… I’ve seen death, and I’ve – I’ve seen s-s-suffering, and every – everything that could make a woman go crazy.” In her state, Tara had reverted back to her stammer that she had only gotten rid of after she had met Willow. “And – and as much as – as, as much as I love Sunnydale, a – and our friends, it continued. Mrs Summers death. Buffy’s death. All the pain, and – and the sadness. The – the reason I wanted us to get away, Will, was because – I – I don’t think I can take it anymore.” She swallowed another sob and turned away, unable to bear the shocked expression on the redhead’s face.

        “What are you saying, Tara? Are you saying you’re going to leave me again?” Willow demanded in a harsh voice, her eyes cold.

        “No, God no, I want to stay with you forever and ever, sweetie. It’s just…”

        “What?” Willow snapped.

        “I don’t want to go back.” Tara sighed. “I – I want to stay here. With you.”

~~~
Willow stared at her girlfriend in dismay, unable to speak a word. As soon as Tara had finished speaking, she had lowered her head so that her long blonde hair covered her face and resumed her sobbing, not believing that she had just spoken of her feelings to get such a reaction. Numbly, Willow got to her feet with difficulty and grabbed hold of the bench as the world began to spin around her. "Wh - what the hell do you think you're playing at?" She demanded, shocking herself that she could be so blunt. Tara let out another wail.
        “I’m so sorry, I should never have told you, Will, please don’t be angry…”
        “What do you expect me to be, jumping up and down for joy?” Willow exclaimed. “Tara, I love you, and I would do almost anything to be with you. But you’re asking me to give up everything. My best friends, my home, my life. I can’t do that.”
        “Willow… I should never have said, it’s better off me keeping my mouth shut.” Tara sniffled and wiped her red eyes. “I can’t believe I was so stupid to think that you’d agree.”
        Willow felt guilty for making Tara so upset, and she placed a gentle hand on the blonde’s arm. “No, baby, I’m sorry. You were right to have spoken, otherwise things would have just built up but – but I just can’t. I can’t leave them all. You’re asking me to give up my family.”
        “I thought I was your family.” Tara gazed at the grass glumly.
        “You are, you’re the person I love most, baby, but my friends – they’re like my brothers and sisters.” Willow extracted her hand and shook her head. “I’m – I’m going for a walk. I need to think.” As she strode off, her shoulders slumped, Tara kicked the ground bitterly, disgusted with herself.
        “You’re such an asshole, Tara Maclay.” She said out loud, and dissolved into tears once more.
~~~

        “Tara, I told you to leave me alone.” Willow snapped as she felt a hand rest on her shoulder.

        “She listened to you, she always listens to you.” Celius appeared in front of the 21-year-old, smirking nastily. Willow glared furiously at him.

        “Do you realise what you’ve done? You’re splitting us apart. Tara was right about you, I bet you are a phoney.”

        “No, I’m not.” Celius replied with a grin. “Fighting is all part of a healthy relationship, Red. Blondie just doesn’t know it yet. She thinks she’s made a terrible mistake.”

        “She has.” Willow retorted. “Now, do you mind? I was in the middle of thinking.”

        “Oh, you can think with me here.” Celius walked alongside Willow, and began humming a little tune. At another glare, he shrugged, the slimy smile still lingering. “Sorry.”

        “You know, what is your deal?” Willow demanded after a couple of minutes. “You’re all like, hey, I’m the Creator of a heaven, I’m so brilliant, I think I’ll make a perfect couple hate each other and move to different realities literally, what is it with that?”

        “It’s all part of the spell, Red.” Celius plucked a stray hair off his sleeve. “You will end up together, I guarantee that. Maybe not here, maybe not in Sunnydale, maybe in a different reality altogether, that I cannot guarantee for that is your decision. What I need to do…” He stroked his goatee. “What I need to do is show Blondie that it is more important to be with the one you love in a place you hate than to be in a place you love without the one you love.”

        Willow shook her head, confused. “What?”

        “I know a way.” Celius began fading out, a broad grin on his face. The world began to spin around Willow once more and her surroundings turned to grey.

Willow’s limp body hit the ground just as Tara appeared to talk to her.
