Part 7

Postby Centauri2002 » Thu Aug 15, 2002 11:31 am

Okay, here's the next part... I'm sticking with the dark for now... but bear with me. :)

Part 7

It all seemed so meaningless now. The stars, the moon, the trees, the flowers, air, even life. Nothing seemed complete without Willow to bless them. Tara looked unseeingly ahead of her, not caring if the entire population of vampires were closing in on her. She would gladly allow them to feed from her, just so she could join the only light that had blessed her life. Her head was still trying to comprehend what had happened but her heart felt it with the force of a thousand hurricanes. It wasn't only the world around her that was incomplete now; a part of her was missing as well.

Her feet moved numbly across hard, cold concrete, her arms swinging slightly at her sides. She felt detached from her body, the shell only a vessel to encompass her pain. How could she ever be happy again without the beautiful redhead in her life? She was her life. Tears slid down her cheeks but she didn't bother to brush them away. There didn't seem to be a point. She was aware of people approaching her and she momentarily wondered if they were demons coming to free her but she recognised their presences. She didn't want their sympathy or their company. Why couldn't they just leave her alone?

Xander and Cordelia ran up beside her and fell into step with her. She kept her focus forwards, hoping they would just go away. Xander studied her for a moment, taking in her wet cheeks and blank stare.

"Where you going?" He asked, making sure to keep his tone soft.

Tara didn't answer. She continued to walk with a brisk pace. Cordelia frowned, thinking the blonde had flipped. "Can't we just drag Miss. Unhearing back to the house again?" She asked her boyfriend.

The blonde Wiccan stopped abruptly, causing both teenagers to stumble slightly as they turned to look at her. Tara's eyes settled on Cordelia. "I'm not going back there." She stated firmly.

"Okay, so where are you going?" Xander asked again.

Tara looked at him, pondering his question. She wasn't sure of that herself. Her body just seemed to be leading her somewhere. "Away."

Cordelia rolled her eyes. "Yeah, and then you can become the next snack of every disgusting demon in the area. Good plan."

"Maybe." Tara replied, continuing her brisk pace again.

Xander glanced at his girlfriend with a worried expression. "M-Maybe?" He jogged to catch up with her. When Tara didn't answer his question, he moved in front of her and grabbed her by the shoulders, effectively stopping her. "We're not going to allow you to get yourself killed."

Tara blinked, her face remaining expressionless. "That's not your decision to make."

Cordelia walked up behind them. "Hey…" She said, glancing around. "Isn't this the way to Giles' place?"

Xander took in his surroundings. "Yeah…" He looked back at Tara. "How did you know the way?"

A flicker of emotion passed over her features, as she felt surprised. "I… I don't."

The cheerleader tugged at Xander's arm. "Let's go see Giles, maybe he has some information. I don't wanna sit around and baby-sit all night anyway." She strode off down the street.

"Cordy!" Xander shouted after her. "I don't think…" He began but knew argument was futile. He knew it would be a very bad idea for them to take Tara to Giles' house, as that was where Buffy had taken the body of the blonde's girlfriend. Then again, it seemed she was drawn there anyway. It wouldn't be entirely their fault. He shrugged and let go of Tara, letting her walk past him.

"I'm gonna be in so much trouble." He sighed before following after the two headstrong women.

*

Giles stood watching the Slayer as she poised herself above the sofa, stake in hand. She had already made several attempts at plunging the piece of wood into the dead woman but she had stopped before contact had been made. He understood why she couldn't do it though. She would be feeling as if she were actually killing Willow, though, in fact she would be freeing the redhead from living eternity as the undead.

Buffy's shoulders slumped and she dropped her arm to her side, gripping the stake tightly. "I can't do it." She sighed.

Giles walked around the sofa so he could lean of the back of it and look the Slayer in the eye. "Yes you can, Buffy." He paused and looked down at the redhead. "Look at her. She looks peaceful now but by tomorrow night all that will be taken from her. She will be exposed to the horrors of the demon world. She will become one of them. She will never know peace."

The words stung Buffy and she stared intently at the young woman's face. She did indeed look so peaceful. With renewed determination, Buffy brought the stake up, ready to plunge it deep into the redhead's unbeating heart.

A scream from outside stopped her and she shot Giles an alarmed look. Without hesitation, she moved to the door and flung it open. A pang of fear rocketed through her as her gaze settled upon the form of the giant three headed dog. He was snarling viciously at a very scared Cordelia who was scampering away from him on her butt. Xander was rushing forward to help his girlfriend whilst Tara hung back, looking up at Cerberus.

Buffy rushed out into the cool night air and raised her stake in front of her in a feeble gesture. The hellhound looked at her, an amused glint in his eyes. He padded forward, ignoring Cordelia and Xander. "Well, well, well, if it isn't the helpless prey." He taunted.

"Not so helpless." She retorted, though she felt they were meaningless words. Yet, she was going to make damn sure she wasn't going down without throwing in some good remarks. If only her brain would start working again and the mind numbing fear would go away.

"Wait!" The voice rung out, causing everyone to stop what they were doing.

Cerberus turned to Tara who had moved nearer and he looked down on her with a slightly irritated expression. "You think you can help your friend?"

Tara shook her head. "No."

The hellhound seemed taken aback by this. "I commend your honesty, human." He turned back to the Slayer who was staring at Tara disbelievingly.

"I have a proposition for you." Tara's voice came again.

Cerberus laughed and one of his heads looked at her whilst the other two focused on Buffy. "What could you possibly have to offer me?"

"Tara, no!" Buffy shouted. "What are you doing?" She asked incredulously.

The blonde Wiccan ignored her and took a deep breath. "The tablet."

This piqued Cerberus' attention and another head joined in to look at the witch. Buffy started to object again but was silenced with a deafening growl from the head watching her. She shrunk back involuntarily at the sound.

"Continue." He ordered.

"You want the tablet, I want your time travel abilities." Tara said simply, as if they explained everything. "But first, tell me about what you will do with the tablet."

"I can take back the tablet without your help, mortal." He sneered, dismissing her offer.

"Can you? Can you be one hundred percent sure of that? I know that I can get it for you." She continued.

The hellhound considered her words for a moment. "I will use the tablet to return to Hades and take up my rightful place as the guardian of its gates." He explained, knowing the information wouldn't disadvantage him.

"And that wont affect this realm in any way, nor cause suffering on innocent beings in any other?" Tara checked.

The demon laughed, deeply amused by her concern for the welfare of others. "Only if they disregard the rules of Hades or…" He growled again. "They get in my way."

Tara seemed a little relieved. "Do we have a deal then?"

"How do I know I can trust you will keep your end of the bargain?" He asked.

"Can't you read me?" She countered. "I want my Willow back, the only way I can do that is if I travel through time. I will do what it takes, even if that means aiding you in your task. But you must not harm this human." She said motioning to Buffy.

The hellhound nodded each of its heads and backed off from Buffy. "Very well. I will require a few days to prepare and I will also need your energies."

The blonde Wiccan hoped she could trust Cerberus to stick to the deal. "How will I find you?"

"You wont. I will come to you when it is time." With that, he left, striding silently into the night.

Tara took a deep breath and faced the Slayer and her watcher. The Englishman looked at her with complete surprise whilst Buffy wore an expression of suspicion and mistrust. "What the hell was that?" The Slayer spat.

"I was saving your life." Tara answered, her face neutral.

"By haggling with a demon?" Buffy was becoming increasingly confrontational and she moved her arms to emphasise each word.

The blonde Wiccan wasn't sure how she was going to persuade the Slayer that this was the right thing to do or if she even wanted to. Sometimes, you just had to do things whether people liked it or not. "Cerberus is not going to cause any harm by returning to hell, in fact it would be a better place for him."

Buffy looked back at her watcher, her eyes demanding an answer from him. He shrugged, telling her he couldn't argue with that. "Fine." She muttered. "But I'm not happy about it. We can't trust him."

"We don't have to." Tara stated firmly. "Only I do."

Buffy narrowed her eyes at the blonde woman and turned to storm back into Giles' home. She hurried up to the door but paused in the entrance. "Uh Giles…" She called hesitantly. The watcher came up behind her.

"What is it?" He asked.

"She's gone." Buffy said as she stared at the empty sofa.

The murky darkness of the building only proved to better Angelus' mood. Though he had been hurt by the witch and the Slayer, his spirits were high. He paced the length of the room, casting glances at the plush double bed in one corner. The maroon sheets were silk and wore a sheen from the candlelight, which was the only illumination in the room. Upon the bed lay a still body, hair spread across the dark pillows in a fiery halo. He approached the lifeless form and inspected the contours of the witch's body. He was surprised he had never noticed the redhead's attractiveness before, though there were many differences between this woman and the girl he had attacked before. It still confused him how there could be two of the same person but it was only a matter of time before he had his answers.

"Staring at her wont make her rise any quicker." Came the common English accent.

Angelus turned to see the platinum blonde vampire roll into the room in a wheelchair. He sneered at Spike, finding him incredibly annoying. "I'm just admiring Dru's work."

Spike wheeled himself closer and looked at Willow's body. "Death certainly changes a person, eh? But I don't see why you bothered turning her."

Angelus ignored Spike's words, it was pointless to try to explain the reasons to the English vampire. He didn't see the need, either. It was daylight outside and he was impatient for the night to come. He wanted answers and he wanted them immediately. He was also anxious to see how much power the redhead had. He turned to Spike again.

"Let us see if we can get a quick snack." He muttered before moving past the crippled vampire. Spike merely grunted and followed him out, throwing one last look at Willow's body.

*

After Buffy's discovery in Giles' apartment, there had been a form of panic. She, Giles, and Xander had searched the surrounding area to check for tracks or the culprits who had stolen Willow's body but they had come up empty handed. Tara and Cordelia waited inside the watcher's home in complete silence, the cheerleader glancing uncomfortably at her companion. Tara kept away from the sofa and merely sat in a chair, staring blankly at the wall.

When the others had returned, Cordelia had rushed gladly to her boyfriend and Giles had filled the two women on their lack of findings. It was then that they decided they should go home and get some rest. Giles decided it would be best if Tara stayed with him and he would sleep on the sofa. The Scoobies left and Giles showed the blonde Wiccan up to his bed. He returned to the living room to research for what was left of the night.

The next day, Giles checked on Tara and she informed him that she would be meditating for the rest of the day. He accepted this and told her he had to go to the school library and showed her where all the food and drink was located. She seemed slightly more coherent than the previous night and Giles wasn't too reluctant to leave her alone in his home.

Once he had reached the school, he entered the library and searched through the texts on Ancient Greek mythology. The Scooby Gang had entered the library, all wearing weary expressions. Conversation had been almost non-existent and Giles sensed the atmosphere was heavy.

The rest of the day had passed uneventfully and upon returning home, he found Tara upstairs on the floor of his bedroom, meditating. He quietly left the room and moved to the kitchen to prepare dinner. He found himself thinking a lot about what Tara would like to eat and eventually decided to make cottage pie. When it was ready, he shouted up to the blonde woman, hoping he wasn't disturbing her too much and she came down to join him, giving him a polite smile. They didn't talk while they ate but Giles was quite glad of that, he had a lot to think about.

Now, he stood in his kitchen, having just finished clearing the dishes. He moved back out to the living room, looking out the window. The night had descended quickly on Sunnydale and he shuddered at the thought of who would rise tonight. He glanced up the stairs, knowing the blonde Wiccan was throwing herself into meditation so she wouldn't have to face the horror of the night. He didn't blame her, he would do the same if he had lost a close friend. He made the decision not to disturb Tara for the rest of the night and focus on finding out as much information he could on this Cerberus character and how he travelled through time.

*

The first thing she felt when she woke was strength. An incredible strength she had never felt before. She now felt more invigorated than she ever had. She slowly opened her eyes, a faint flicker of light showing her she was in a lavishly decorated room. Her senses were humming and she was sure she could smell every living being within a mile. Her mind became more aware as her senses did and she wondered where she was exactly. Then the memories flooded back to her and she felt sickened.

"That's right, little flame. You're free now." The female voice drifted into her mind as her ears registered their first sound. She blinked, her body still getting used to the sensorial overload.

Eventually, she found the where with all to sit up and she perched herself on her elbows, eyeing the woman who sat on the edge of the bed. She recognised her and she realised it had been she who had turned her. She felt a strong attachment to her, a connection that could only be known between childe and sire. "Where..?" Her voice seemed alien to her ears and she wondered if it was meant to change when someone became a vampire.

"You're home, little flame." Drusilla murmured, her eyes slightly out of focus.

Willow, the vampire, swung her legs over the edge of the bed and looked at her sire. Her throat felt dry and parched. She realised that was probably why her voice had taken on a different tone and pitch. "I'm thirsty." She managed, her mind still not finding its purchase on reality yet.

"Let's find you a meal then." Came a male voice and Willow looked to the doorway to see Angelus standing there. He wore a smile on his lips and Willow was sure it lacked its usual iciness.

The redheaded vampire stood, glancing at Drusilla for a moment. "Don't be gone long, I wanna play." She smiled fondly at her creation before standing and moving past Angelus.

Willow just stood staring at the dark haired vampire. He also seemed to be studying her, his dark eyes trailing up and down her form. He stepped closer, raising a hand to cup her chin, before roughly pulling her head to the side. He pulled it, first one way, and then the other. "Who are you?"

"Well aint that a dumb question." She remarked, pulling back sharply out of his grip.

Angelus' eyes narrowed. "The Willow Rosenberg I know is a pathetic being who couldn't hurt a fly."

The redhead nodded. "I know. Pathetic, isn't she?" When he didn't respond, she continued. "I was the future self of who you know as Willow."

Angelus looked at her in surprise. "How?"

"I wish I knew. Some demon brought me here. Very rude of him." She waved a hand, dismissively.

Angelus turned to go. "Tell me all about it while we get you a meal."

Tara fiddled anxiously with her pendant, gazing out the window at the night. She now sat in her motel room, having felt the need to be alone and get away from Giles. Not that Giles was a considerate host, far from it. He had always been caring but Tara just didn't need that kind of attention now. She needed time to think, alone.

It had been three days and Cerberus hadn't come. She was starting to get worried and the possibility of him breaking the deal was becoming increasingly likely. She shouldn't have so readily trusted him. She was too desperate to save Willow and now the horrifying fact that she would forever be without the woman she loved, settled uneasily upon her. It was terrible to even think about but it was something she was going to have to face. She had cried herself to sleep each night but tonight she seemed to be getting a hold on her emotions. She could even think about Willow without bursting into tears.

She sighed and moved towards the bed. The bed she and Willow had shared. The bed in which they had consummated their love for one another. She sat upon the thin sheets, running a hand across the smooth material. If only she had the chance to touch Willow like that again. There was a burning need deep within her for the redhead and she knew that would never be satiated.

She shook the thoughts from her mind and hauled herself fully onto the bed, bringing her legs up and crossing them. She took a few deep breaths, centring herself before she would once again meditate. She felt the world around her fade away as she focused on nothing but her energies, flowing in and out of her body.

She was vaguely aware of a sound trying to draw her attention but she continued to meditate. The sound came again and as she snapped back to reality, she realised someone was knocking at her door. She groaned, knowing it would be Giles coming to check up on her as he said he would.

She shifted herself from the bed and walked towards the door, a wave of dread hitting her suddenly. She paused, wondering what could have caused it. She shook her head and gripped the handle of the door, turning it and pulling the door open. She almost fainted at the sight. At her door stood Willow, clad in black leather trousers and a very revealing black top. She smiled sweetly at Tara and the blonde felt like she wanted to break down and cry.

"Aren't you going to invite me in, baby?" Her voice seemed so similar yet there was something disturbingly predatory about it.

Tara backed up, almost stumbling. "N-No."

"That's okay." Willow said before stepping through the door. "I don't need one."

Tara gasped in fear. She wasn't sure why exactly she had been allowed entry, whether it was because it was a public place or because Willow had rented the motel room out. Willow walked slowly towards her, her hips swinging at each step. Tara backed up, shakily, coming to an abrupt stop when she felt the bed on the back of her legs.

Willow stopped when she was only inches from the blonde Wiccan. Her green eyes pierced Tara's blue and the blonde found herself falling back on the bed until she was sitting on it. The redhead leaned forwards, placing her hands on either side of Tara's legs and sniffed at her neck. Tara could also smell Willow and the familiar scent flooded her senses. The vampire's face passed closely in front of the Wiccan's and she smiled seductively.

"Bet you taste as good as you smell." She whispered.

Tara swallowed, hard. "L-Leave me alone." She whimpered, tears stinging her eyes.

"You never wanted me to before." Willow stated, an eyebrow rising.

"Y-You're not W-Willow." Tara forced the words out and squeezed her eyes shut. She wished the vampire would just get it over with. Being so close to something that looked like the woman she loved was tearing her up inside.

She heard the redhead chuckle. "No, I am so much more."

She felt the vampire's face move back to her neck and braced herself for the inevitable bite. She gasped aloud as she felt cold lips pressed against the skin there. Then, a tongue joined the lips, running across the sensitive flesh. Tara could feel herself giving herself over to the demon but she pulled away, reminding herself that there was nothing left of her lover now.

"Mmm, you taste so good." Willow murmured with a growl.

"P-Please… Just kill me and g-get it over with." She stuttered, holding back a sob.

Willow looked down at her, a disappointed glint in her eyes. She pouted slightly. "You don't want to play?"

Tara couldn't hold it back anymore, she let out the sob she had been holding in and let the tears fall over her cheeks. Willow placed a cool hand firmly on the blonde's chest and pushed so Tara fell back on the bed.

"Stop it!" Willow hissed. She crawled on top of the Wiccan and narrowed her green eyes. "Stop crying!"

Tara looked up into those angry emerald eyes and stared into them. They gazed unwaveringly back and the blonde was able to get her emotions under control once again. Her chest rose and fell quickly and she was sure the vampire would be able to hear her heart thudding in her chest. Willow's expression softened a little and she brought her fingers to the soft skin of Tara's neck, silently admiring it.

Though the touch was devoid of warmth, the familiarity of it sent sensations shooting through Tara and she struggled against the weight of the redhead. Willow seemed to be amused at the blonde's struggles, which only made Tara more determined to get away from her. In a last ditch attempt, the Wiccan thrust her hips upwards, and the redhead tumbled off her to the side. Tara scampered off the bed and ran to the door.

She felt a hand on her arm and she was spun around roughly. She came face to face with Willow who was, surprisingly, smiling. "And I thought you just wanted me to kill you." She pushed at the door behind Tara and after it was closed, threw the blonde against it. She pushed her hips up hard against the Wiccan's.

"Actually, I'd prefer if you j-just went away and s-staked yourself." Tara retorted, finding a hidden well of courage within herself.

The redheaded vampire laughed. "Ooh, spicy talk." She raised a hand and placed it around Tara's neck, her grip tight but loose enough to allow the blonde to breathe. She leaned forwards, her lips only a hair's breadth from Tara's.

Tara wanted nothing more than to feel those lips on hers but not this way, she refused to allow her body to give in to the vampire's touches. She tried to turn her head but Willow's strong hand kept it in place. Green eyes seemed to be searching hers for something but she wasn't sure what.

"Don't you want to kiss me?" The vampire asked, her voice held to hint of a taunt. "Would you prefer I drained you?"

Tara took a deep breath, taking in the scent of her dead lover. "I would rather die than tarnish the memory of Willow." She said through clenched teeth.

Anger flared up in the redhead's eyes and the demon emerged, twisting her beautiful features into something terrifying. She flung the blonde across the room, her yellow eyes following Tara as she rolled across the carpet. "She was pathetic!" She roared in disbelief. "She's been nothing but a loser her whole life."

A knock interrupted the vampire's rant and Willow turned to look at the door, irritation in her eyes. "Tara!" Came the familiar voice of Giles.

Tara stood and looked defiantly at the vampire. "You're wrong." She said. "She was the woman who captured my heart and I would only allow someone special to do that."

Giving one last glance at the door, Willow lunged forwards, grabbing Tara by the shoulders, digging her nails into the blonde's skin painfully. Tara saw hesitancy in those yellow eyes and was surprised to see them turn back to green. She once again looked like the Willow she used to know. She wasn't sure how she preferred to see the vampire though, the horrific vampiric form or the painful human form.

"You're lucky I'm feeling generous." Willow muttered. She let her hands fall from Tara's shoulder before moving quickly to the window and lifting it open.

At that moment, Giles burst into the room, gasping in surprise at seeing Willow. The redhead moved to exit the room through the window but changed her mind. She grabbed the front of Tara's top and pulled her towards her, pushing her mouth roughly to the blonde's. Tara's eyes widened in surprise as she felt a cold tongue force its way past her lips. Oh, goddess, she tastes so much like her, her mind screamed.

With that, Willow pushed Tara away and ducked out of the window, fleeing into the night. Giles rushed over to the window but couldn't see in which direction the vampire had run. He looked towards the blonde Wiccan to see if she was harmed.

Tara merely looked at the Englishman, fresh tears springing to her eyes. Within seconds, she sunk to her knees and began sobbing, wrapping her arms around herself. Giles went to her and knelt down, slipping an arm around her shoulders.

Poor Tara with all those emotions playing through her head at seeing vamp Willow. I loved how Willow couldn't bring herself to finish Tara off :)

At least now we have hope and i only hope cerberus lives up to his end of the bargain :)

Lord, this story has a lot of twists and turns. For some reason that description of Willow coming to Tara reminded me of Salem's Lot where the turned family member comes floating up to the window and scratches on it so they'll let them in. Creepy!

I'm very interested in seeing where this story is going. Lots of exciting possibilities. Looking forward to more! Thanks :)

Poor Tara, feeling she had nothing left to live for. Wonderful that she instinctively was heading to Giles' house.

She's found a way to help her girl, like we knew she would. Hopefully Fido won't renege on the deal.

The turned Willow appearing at the motel room. That was an unsettling scene. It appears that she has some kind of feelings still for Tara. Still glad that Giles arrived when he did.

Right, responses...

snuggle79: No, I don't suppose she'd be my favourite person to see when I woke... creepy vampire that she is.

The things I'm putting Tara through, eh? Maybe I should give her a long vacation after this. ;)

Rane018: That's a good idea but it would be all to easy if she kept part of her soul. Yes, I'm evil, I know. Funny thing is, I hate seeing our girls suffering. Weird.

spazz07: I thought if Vamp Willow would have a weakness, it would be Tara. Pity Tara had to go through that but I'm sure she'll be stronger for it after all this.

MissQuirky: Don't worry, I will fix it... eventually. ;) Aww, you don't like the darkness? I'll have to do something about it then wont I? Can't have the readers unsatisified. ;)

Scout: I haven't actually seen Salem's Lot... I'll have to go check it out now... see what you've done. :p I'm quite happy it came across like that... wasn't sure if I could pull it off.

LeatherQueen: You love my Vamp Willow... cool. There's a lot more of her in the next part. :)

Shinnen: Cerberus has a lot to answer for, doesn't he? I'll have to go smack his hide right now. ;) I'm sorry you got all sad over this... I'll have to write some happier scenes real soon to make up for it. :D

AmberBensonRockzMyWorld: Glad you liked it and more will come soon. :)

mollyig: Yes, there's been a few complaints about 'Fido'... I think I'm going to have to have a word with him about commitments. :rolleyes

Yes, Vamp Willow does have some sort of feelings for Tara and I'll be focusing a little on that in the next part. Doesn't Giles know how to pop up at the right time?

I'm well into the next part now... five pages I think so it shouldn't be too long before you get an update. Maybe later in the day. Thank you all for reading once again. :kiss

Part 8a

Postby Centauri2002 » Tue Aug 20, 2002 6:47 am

Just the one scene this time... I've not had the chance to write so it's kinda slow work but I'm working on the next part.

Part 8a

Willow stalked through the streets of Sunnydale, her anger raging. She was definitely going to have to kill that blonde witch. Something about her made Willow weak. She convinced herself it was the fact that she had fed before she had gone to the motel that kept her from killing Tara. After all, what was the point in killing a perfectly good food source if you weren't going to drink from it? A small part of her questioned her for going to the motel in the first place but she ignored it, instead focusing on making her way back to Angelus' lair. She wasn't particularly looking forward to returning there, as she would be faced by incessant questioning.

Looking about her, she found she had made her way to the Bronze instead of back to the lair. She shrugged and decided she could perhaps have some fun here before the night was entirely wasted. Besides, there was a burning desire raging within her since her contact with Tara that she needed to get rid of. She moved past the bouncer and into the throng of people.

She could smell each one of the perspiring bodies writhing on the dance floor and she found that none of them were alluring enough to waste her time with. She found a dark and fairly unoccupied corner to stand in and she observed the unsuspecting revellers. A fairly short, blonde haired girl dancing with a tall dark male caught her attention and she studied her from her vantage point. She watched as the girl's face came into view and the vampire thought she was pretty. She noted that she wasn't as attractive as Tara. She inwardly kicked herself for the thought. She was determined to work the blonde Wiccan out of her system, and perhaps seducing this girl was the way to do it.

Willow strode forwards, pushing away a few young men who danced her way. She moved up behind the blonde girl with predatory grace, slipping her hands onto the girl's waist. At first, she was shocked at the contact but soon fell into a rhythm with Willow. The man she was dancing with didn't take the move as well though and moved towards the redheaded vampire with possessive determination.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?" He shouted, pushing at Willow's shoulder.

They stopped dancing and the vampire looked up at the intruding male. "It's okay, Brad. We were just dancing." The blonde girl spoke up.

"You might as well as been having sex on the dance floor." He glared angrily at the blonde girl. "You're getting too comfortable with my girl." He aimed at Willow.

Willow stepped past the blonde girl and narrowed her eyes. "She's not your girl anymore." She growled before pushing a palm into his chest, sending him tumbling backwards into a group of people. She turned back to the girl, seeing the surprise on her face. "Now, where were we?"

They continued to dance for a few more songs, their movements becoming closer and more sensual. When the third song ended, they just stood, staring at one another, the blonde's brown eyes examining Willow's face. A smile curled its way onto the blonde's lips and she slowly leaned forwards. The vampire pulled away sharply, pushing the girl away.

"I thought you…" The girl started, shocked at Willow's actions.

"You thought wrong." The redhead muttered, turning quickly and leaving the dance floor.

What the hell is wrong with you? Her mind questioned. She should be in some dark alleyway with that girl right now, having her way with her before ripping her throat out. But she couldn't do it. The throat ripping would have been easy but she just couldn't kiss the blonde. The image of Tara kept popping into her head.

She left the club and walked through the deserted streets, moping about her night. Her early feed had been the only good part of it. And now she could feel the hunger returning. Could this night get any better? She made the decision right there not to return to the lair. She couldn't face Angelus or her sire. She didn't think they deserved to be privy to her knowledge of the future. She realised she could be plotting to become the number one demon in Sunnydale right now but all she could think about was Tara Maclay.

She scuffed her feet along the ground, cursing under her breath. She had been a loser when she was human and now she couldn't even do the simple task of being evil. It wasn't hard, kill a human here and there, spit out a few snide remarks, get your ass kicked by the Slayer and you would be considered the next big bad, but no, Willow had to obsess over a witch. She growled to herself, trying to think about where she would stay for the coming day. She would have to find a crypt or perhaps she could reside in the sewers. On the other hand, maybe she could go find Tara; there she would find warmth. She shook her head. Stop it! Her mind chastised.

Again, she found her body had led her to a place her mind had not wanted her to go and, to her surprise, she found she was standing outside the Summers residence. She was looking up at Buffy's bedroom window, the light spilling out onto the lawn. She stood beneath a young tree.

"What am I doing here?" She asked herself, confused.

As she continued staring up at the window she saw a figure pass across in front of it and she hid behind the tree trunk instinctively. The figure seemed to be looking out and she hoped she hadn't raised the Slayer's suspicions. She was just about to leave when she realised the figure was looking directly at her. She also realised it wasn't the Slayer; she knew Buffy didn't have blue eyes.

Willow stepped forwards, letting the light wash over her and she saw the window opening. She was confused as to why the blue-eyed figure would do that. Tara looked down at her, not with fear but with curiosity. Willow felt a little trapped under her gaze and she felt anger at that.

"What are you doing here?" Tara said in a harsh whisper.

The redheaded vampire wished she could answer that question. "I wish I knew." She snapped her mouth shut. Why had she just said that? She slapped a hand to her forehead in frustration. What was it about this woman that made her do stupid things?

Tara regarded her in silence. Willow thought about just leaving but then decided this was the perfect opportunity to rid herself of this stupid fixation. She moved forwards and leapt up onto the ledge by the window to Buffy's bedroom. Tara immediately lurched backwards and into the safety of the house. Willow crawled up to the window and crouched there, watching the blonde woman intently. By the look of it, Tara was hovering between calling out for help or grabbing the stake and cross that lay on the bed. She wondered if Tara could actually kill her, knowing of her attachment to her former self.

Then an answer came to her. "It's not me." She thought aloud. "It's you. You've cast some sort of spell on me haven't you?"

Tara looked at her in confusion. "W-What?"

"A spell!" She growled. "To fill my head with you." She slammed a palm into the side of her head for emphasis.

Tara shook her head. "I d-don't know w-w-what you're talking about."

Willow lunged forwards but rebounded off the invisible barrier that kept her out of the house. The blonde Wiccan seemed to be genuinely baffled by what she was saying but if it wasn't a spell then what was wrong with her? Her mind began to whirl with possibilities. Just before she was turned, she had been performing a spell, perhaps that had caused something to go wrong.

"M-Maybe…" Tara began to say.

"What?" Willow snapped, her confusion causing her to become edgy.

Tara took an involuntary step backwards. "Maybe you still l-l-love me."

Willow let out a laugh. "Don't be stupid! I'm a soulless vampire. I'm incapable of love." She spat out the last word as if it were distasteful. She bowed her head and placed a fist to the furrows that creased her forehead. All the conflicting thoughts were overwhelming her and if she were honest, they were scaring her.

Her head snapped back up as she heard Tara approach. She felt transfixed by the way the blonde moved, the way her hair shifted around her shoulders, how the thin material of the long t-shirt she wore moved against her skin, the way the compassion shone past the fear in her blue eyes. Willow didn't move as Tara brought her hand up to graze over the cool skin of her cheek. Her first instinct was to lean into the touch but she flinched away instead.

"What are you doing?" Willow asked, her tone losing some of its harshness.

Tara seemed to notice this but she didn't answer. She merely continued to caress Willow's cheek. This time the redhead gave into her instincts and pushed her cheek against the warm hand. The heat drew her in and she felt herself wanting more, needing more. Her eyes flickered over the blonde's body, taking in the subtle rise and fall of her breasts with each breath and the way the t-shirt revealed creamy thighs that begged Willow to touch them.

She let her green eyes glide up to bask in blue pools. "Invite me in." Her voice dropped to a husky purr.

Tara withdrew her hand and shook her head. "N-No."

Willow tilted her head to the side. "Don't you trust me?" She let out a small chuckle.

"No." Tara said firmly.

"Don't you want me?" Willow's eyes glinted dangerously.

The blonde Wiccan hesitated, her lips parting but no words escaping them at first. "N-N-No."

The redhead's eyes narrowed. "You're lying." She let her eyes wander over Tara's body once again and she heard Tara's breath hitch as she spoke. "I want you." Her tongue darted out to moisten her lips. "Can you keep on saying no to me?"

Willow heard a small whimper escape Tara's throat and she backed up from the window. She fumbled on the bed for the cross and the stake, her eyes unable to leave Willow.

"I take that as another no." The vampire snickered.

"I suggest you get away from my house!" Came a shout from below her.

Willow looked behind her to see the Slayer, hands on hips, standing on the lawn in front of the house. The redhead rolled her eyes and looked back towards Tara. "This has nothing to do with you, Slayer."

"You're perched outside my bedroom window… I think it has plenty to do with me." Buffy countered moving forwards, pulling a stake from her jacket sleeve.

The redhead sighed, taking one last look at Tara. She blew her a kiss before leaping to the ground. She landed with a muted thud and straightened to stare down the Slayer. She couldn't be bothered with fighting right now, all she wanted was Tara, and it was unlikely she'd be getting her tonight. She thought she had been making process with her before Buffy had turned up but now that brat had ruined her efforts.

"Another time, perhaps." Willow offered, before lurching forwards and piling into the Slayer, knocking her to the ground. She continued running and leapt over a wall to disappear into the night.

Buffy got up and brushed herself off, quietly cursing. She looked up to her bedroom window and saw Tara standing there, staring after where Willow had fled. "Are you okay?" She shouted up.

Tara looked down at her, snapping out of whatever she was thinking. "Y-Yes, I'm f-fine."

Buffy doubted her words, something about the blonde, who was now retreating into the room, told the Slayer she had been shaken by the confrontation. She made her way to the front door, hoping her mother hadn't heard any of the exchange. That was all she needed right now. Fortunately, she was able to slip inside without waking Joyce Summers and she quietly made her ways up the stairs.

Vampire Willow trying to get her obsession with Tara out of her system - didn't quite work, did it? You've described her confusion at how she has retained the feelings for Tara very well.

Poor Tara conflicted when faced with the vampire version of her love.

Poor Tara, she needs cerberus to pull through with the deal so she can get her Willow back. The pull of vamp Willow may lead to Tara doing something she regrets. :) Great stuff Caz :)

Wow, Centauri2002, I'm just catching up with the last four updates. What a dark and interesting turn of events your story has taken. Drusilla is one evil nutcase of a vampire. You gotta love her though. I love how VW is still so drawn to Tara. Their interludes are sexy and disturbing, all at the same time. I'm curious to know how younger Willow is reacting to everything that is going on. I'm fascinated to see how all of this will turn out. Thanks for sharing!

Wow, good stuff. Interesting how VampWillow is so drawn to Tara. Glad she's avoiding Angelus and such, I'm sure he'd be a royal pain in the ass about the future and the like. The fact that she is pulled more towards Tara than Drusilla bodes well for W/T love, I think. Looking forward to more.

Great update!! Even being an evil Vamp w/ no soul can't make Willow stop havin feelins 4 Tara! Or stop Loving her! :grin

But poor Tara I mean its really sad that her Willow is a vampire! She has to deal w/ seein Will a lot cos Willow just can't leave her alone! :(

I hope theres more soon! :)

Willow: We can come by between classes. Usually I use that time to copy over my class notes with a system of different colored pens. But it's been pointed out to me that that's, you know... insane.

I haven't actually seen Salem's Lot... I'll have to go check it out now... see what you've done…

You know, I’ve seen a lot of scary movies, but Salem’s Lot was always near the top of my list. Definitely one of the better Stephen King adaptations. Just don’t watch it alone, and make sure you see the full-length version and not the ‘cut to shreds’ version. :)

This latest installment was terrific! I think I’m as torn as Tara in not knowing if we can really trust VW. Seeing little glimpses of old Willow in her makes you tempted to reach out to her. Great stuff and I can’t wait to see how this progresses. Thanks!

Hi again. Sorry, I didn't mean to make you feel guilty before about making me sad...that was partly just me, partly your writing....and I also didn't mean to then miss two or three chapters. I have just caught up, though, and I like the way you are developing both Tara's reactions to Vamp Willow and Vamp Willow herself. It's great that you can even convey humor here, with lines like this:

[quote/She had been a loser when she was human and now she couldn't even do the simple task of being evil. It wasn't hard, kill a human here and there, spit out a few snide remarks, get your ass kicked by the Slayer and you would be considered the next big bad, but no, Willow had to obsess over a witch.[/quote]

It's a delicate thing, in the wake of Tara's grief and now horror and also Willow's rage and desire to really BE evil.

I keep forgetting that your Willow and Tara had only known each other for a relatively short time...as opposed to three years on the show. You evoke their connection really well. Thanks.

Part 8b

Postby Centauri2002 » Mon Aug 26, 2002 8:17 am

I'm so behind on replies... I promise I'll do it next time. I'm a bit slow on my updates as well... my life always seems to get in the way of my writing. ;) I'm not too sure about this part... I'm trying to tread carefully between going into the darker side of emotion and making the characters react to lightly.

Well, without further ado, on with the next part.

Part 8b

The following night, Buffy and Tara patrolled together; the Slayer having figured out having a witch around would be advantageous to her. They walked silently between the gravestones, wary of their surroundings. Buffy glanced sideways at the blonde Wiccan, seeing the forlorn expression on her face as she gazed down at her feet. The Slayer wanted to ask Tara what she was thinking and perhaps comfort her but she didn’t want to intrude on her thoughts. The blonde witch had been non conversational since her confrontation with Willow the previous night and hadn’t wanted to talk about it. She had merely thanked Buffy’s mother in the morning and left to meet Giles for breakfast. It hand been a task to persuade her mother that Tara should stay for the night and she’d only given in when Buffy mentioned Tara being Giles’ niece. Buffy hoped her mother didn’t call the Englishman, as he wasn’t yet aware he had a niece in Sunnydale.

“Are you okay?” Buffy asked, not being able to take seeing the blonde witch’s expression anymore.

Tara’s head snapped up at the question. “Y-Yes, I’m f-fine.”

The Slayer gave her a doubtful look. “Why is it I don’t believe you?”

A flicker of a smile passed over Tara’s lips but the frown soon took hold again. “It’s… It’s j-just a lot to deal with.” She finally said, being purposely vague.

“Do you wanna talk about it?” Buffy tentatively asked.

Tara shook her head. “I think maybe I should but I… I don’t think I c-can hear myself say the w-words.”

The Slayer nodded her head understandingly. A rustling of bushes caught her attention and she spun around to see Cerberus towering above them. It disturbed her how close he could get without her noticing. Tara turned at the same time, a small gasp escaping her throat as she did so. The three-headed hellhound merely stared down at them, not saying a thing.

“I thought you had backed out of the deal.” Buffy stated, eyeing the demon suspiciously.

He ignored her statement and focused three sets of eyes on the blonde Wiccan. “There is a problem.”

“W-What is it?” A feeling of dread crept up her spine.

“For your plan to work I will require more energy than we have. If I were to travel alone then there would be no problem.” He explained.

“So… I’ll volunteer to lend you some of mine. A Slayer’s energy has got to be worth something right?” Buffy placed one hand on her hip, not seeing the problem.

Cerberus shook his three heads. “Not good enough. I would require the energy of the redhead to complete the spell but she is no longer on this plane of existence so the deal cannot be followed through.”

“N-No, wait. There m-may still be a way.” A dull ache appeared in Tara’s chest at the mention of her turned lover.

“Continue.” Cerberus said.

Tara took a deep breath. “Willow isn’t gone, she’s a vampire now.” She cringed at her own words.

The demon seemed to be amused by this latest bit of information and it made Tara’s skin crawl. “A vampire. Interesting. I can still use her mystical energies.” He paused for a moment, thinking. “Make sure she is in this cemetery at midnight tomorrow.” He ordered before bounding away.

Buffy and Tara stared after him. “Oh well that’s simple enough.” Buffy muttered.

“We have to find her.” Tara’s voice was almost panicked.

Buffy turned to her and laid a hand on the witch’s shoulder. “We will.” Just don’t know how yet, she added internally.

Tara looked down at her feet, deep in thought. She had no idea where the vampire would be and even if she did, she didn’t know how she was going to get her to cooperate.

“We’ll search the usual haunts. We’ll look during the day too. It may be easier to track her down when she can’t roam around Sunnydale.” Buffy offered, knowing the Wiccan needed reassuring. “Might be harder to keep her where we want her though.” The Slayer sighed.

“I may have an idea for that part.” Tara looked up into hazel eyes.

“Oh? What?” Asked the Slayer.

“She seems drawn to me. I’ll just give her what she wants, keep her distracted.”

Buffy shook her head adamantly. “No way. That’s far too dangerous.”

“I don’t think she’ll hurt me.” Tara assured her.

Buffy turned away and paced over to a grave before facing the blonde witch again. “Yeah right, coz vampires never hurt people.”

Tara’s eyes pleaded with Buffy’s. “Please, it’s the only way I can think of. It’s the best anyway and I know you’ll be there to help me if I need it.”

Buffy shook her head, not wanting to argue. “We’ll talk it over with Giles.”

*

The next day, Tara sat uncomfortably on the sofa in the Rosenburg house, keeping her gaze in her lap. Though she had never been inside it in her time, this place still reminded her of Willow. The evening was drawing in and darkness was falling on Sunnydale. She had described her plan to Giles who had argued at first but seeing her determination knew there was nothing he could do to dissuade her. The Scooby Gang had spent all of their Saturday searching the dank sewers and usual hang outs for vampires but had come up empty handed. They had reduced the town’s population of demons though. Tara sighed. How was she supposed to make her plan work if they couldn’t even find Willow? She was beginning to think fate was stacking the odds up against her.

“We didn’t find her.” The familiar voice made her flinch and Tara looked up to see the younger form of her lover standing in the doorway, an awkward smile on her face.

Tara just frowned and dropped her gaze again, not having the energy to face the teenager now. She heard the redhead move and slip onto the sofa beside her. They sat in silence for a while, neither of them knowing what to say.

Eventually, Willow spoke up. “H-How are you feeling?”

Tara felt her shift uncomfortably beside her and she looked up into green eyes. “I’m trying n-not to think about it.” She offered Willow a weak smile.

“I’m sorry.” The redhead blurted out. “For w-what happened to her.”

“So am I.” Tara could see the genuine sympathy in those emerald eyes and knew she must be going through a lot as well, seeing her older self die. “Are you okay?”

Willow seemed surprised at being asked by the blonde. “I guess… though, it’s all so weird, what with the other me and finding out I’m a bad ass witch and that I’m not with Oz anymore and that I’m gay. Not that there’s anything wrong with that or… or you because you’re really nice and if I am gay then, hey, I would pick you as my girlfriend but…” She lowered her gaze as she blushed furiously.

Tara smiled fondly at the redhead’s babble. “Some things never change.” She muttered softly.

Willow looked up curiously despite her embarrassment. “H-How did you meet? If you don’t mind me asking, that is.”

Tara shook her head. “Willow, uh, you came to my rescue after some psycho killer came after me. My knight in shining armour.” A tear slid down Tara’s cheek at the memory.

Willow seemed disturbed at seeing the blonde in distress. She reached up to wipe the tear away, the action seeming the most natural in the world. She withdrew her hand before she could make contact though, and folded it into her lap. “I… I saved you?”

“Yes, you scared the killer away.” She explained, trying to concentrate on something other than the similarities between this Willow and her Willow.

The petite redhead sat silently, deep in thought. It was all so strange for her, knowing she would date girls and that she would become a powerful witch. At first, it had freaked her out but now it seemed natural, like a big adventure she couldn’t wait to experience. However, it was still frightening for her. She looked deep into sad blue eyes.

“You care a lot about her?” She asked.

Tara nodded, trying to hold back the tears but not quite succeeding. “I love her.”

“I’m sorry, I should just shut up, this has got to be awful for you.” Willow watched as Tara bowed her head and covered her face with her hands as she wept. Guilt washed over her and she instinctively leant forward to embrace the blonde. Tara stiffened at the contact but didn’t shy away. She seemed grateful for the support.

Willow was surprised at how right this felt, how the softness of the blonde’s hair against her cheek felt, and the curves under her arms. A strange sensation of peace washed over her and she wondered what it would be like to be with a woman. She immediately shook the thought from her mind. She was with Oz and she loved him, she knew that.

Tara pulled back, not wanting to give herself over to the comfort. That would be a huge mistake on her part. “Th-Thank you.” She muttered. She stood and walked to the doorway. “I n-need some air.” She explained as she made her way to the front door and stepped outside.

The evening air was chilly and the sun had already sunk below the horizon, casting shadows across Sunnydale. She knew Buffy and the others were just inside the house but she couldn’t help feeling a little scared and vulnerable out here. She walked slowly down the path, gazing both ways down the street. She wondered where vampire Willow was right now and what she was doing.

As if in answer to her thoughts, she heard a familiar voice from behind her. “Well, look who’s come out to play.” Tara turned to see the object of her thoughts propped up against a tree, a seductive smile tugging at her lips. “You should be careful, all sort of creeps roam the streets at night.”

Tara had to stop herself from backing away in fear. She clenched her teeth in determination. “R-Really?”

Willow nodded, pushing herself away from the trunk. “Yeah, an attractive woman such as yourself makes a popular target.” She continued, stepping towards the blonde.

The Wiccan’s pulse quickened and she felt the adrenaline course through her body. “And w-why do you care?” She challenged.

Willow let out a small chuckle, finally coming to a stop a few inches from Tara. If she had breath, the blonde would have felt it on her cheek. “Because, my dear, I wouldn’t get the chance to play with you if everyone used you as a chew toy.” Her eyes narrowed and the green orbs hardened. “Besides, if anyone is going to kill you, the pleasure will be all mine.”

Tara swallowed hard. She was starting to doubt her own statement about Willow not harming her. She glanced at the Rosenburg house and saw the younger form of Willow staring in horror at them. She felt slightly relieved in the knowledge that the Slayer would know of the turn of events. The redheaded vampire in front of her began to circle her, sizing her up. Emerald eyes travelled the length of Tara’s body and she leaned in to sniff at the blonde’s neck. The vampire now stood behind the Wiccan, relishing in the waves of fear that rolled off Tara. She placed a hand in the middle of Tara’s back, feeling the blonde stiffen at her touch. Her hand slid around to the woman’s soft stomach and she knew Tara’s body was reacting to the familiar contact.

“You know what would be fun?” She whispered into the blonde’s ear, her voice dropping low.

Tara’s breath hitched. “N-No.”

Willow let out a chuckle. “I’ll show you.” The desire was evident in her voice.

She pulled roughly at Tara’s waist and their bodies met. Tara could feel Willow’s breasts crushed up against her back and the coolness of her hand on her stomach. She shivered under the contact, her throat tight. Willow let out another laugh and pushed her away again. She grabbed Tara’s wrist tightly and began to pull her from the street. Tara had no idea where they were going but she had to figure out some way to get them to the cemetery.

*

Willow’s senses hummed at being so close to Tara and she was beginning to think this was a bad idea. The blonde woman affected her in so many different ways and it annoyed the hell out of her. She tugged at the witch’s arm and was surprised at how little she struggled. Perhaps she does want me after all, she thought. She felt oddly pleased at that thought, another thing to add to the growing list of disturbing facts.

She considered taking Tara to a deserted alley and ravishing her right there before sucking her dry but somehow that felt tacky. She wanted to make this memorable so she decided on taking her to the Bronze first and parading her around on the dance floor. Yes, this would be fun indeed. As they moved quickly through the streets, Willow listened to the quickened tempo of Tara’s breathing and it aroused her even more. She frowned; this was something she needed to get over very quickly.

As they turned a corner, Willow felt a sharp tug on her hand and she spun around as Tara pulled free. Before the vampire could react, the blonde fled. Her long tresses swayed behind her and her feet thudded heavily on the ground.

“Shit.” Willow cursed, before running after her.

It didn’t take long for Willow to gain on Tara but by the time she was only a few feet away, the blonde had led them into the graveyard. In one swift motion, Willow launched herself into the air and piled into Tara, taking them both to the ground. They landed heavily and rolled together until Willow had the blonde pinned to the grass. She shifted her weight on top of the witch so she couldn’t move.

“That was fun.” She laughed.

Tara’s breath came out in short gasps, the heated air meeting Willow’s cold cheek. The fear was evident in her eyes and she tried to struggle beneath the redhead’s body. “Get off.” She managed to say.

“Why should I? I’m quite happy where I am.” The vampire’s eyes glinted and she looked down at Tara’s body, her hands still clasping the blonde’s wrists tightly.

“Please.” Tara whimpered.

Something softened in the redhead’s eyes and Tara could tell she was affected by her plea. Willow shifted her weight again and loosened the grip on the blonde’s wrists. Confusion registered in Tara’s eyes and Willow tilted her head slightly. Before Tara could react, Willow leant down and pressed her lips to the blonde’s. Tara’s eyes opened wide in shock as cool lips moved against hers. It all felt too familiar and the blonde Wiccan felt herself wanting to respond to the kiss. Her body was reacting to Willow’s closeness and it scared her.

She felt a tongue brush her lips and they automatically parted, allowing the vampire entry. Willow groaned into Tara’s mouth as she explored the warm recesses. Eventually, she pulled back, green orbs searching blue. The look on her face was different now, less predatory. A glimmer of hope rose within Tara but she forced it back down.

Willow looked uncertainly down at the blonde, not understanding what she was feeling. The kiss had been intense and she had enjoyed it far too much. She pulled her body partially off Tara, releasing the blonde’s wrists. She sat up, straddling Tara’s hips. The motion surprised Tara but she didn’t dare move.

“What’s wrong with me?” Willow whispered to herself. Vampires weren’t meant to act like this. They were meant to be evil and ruthless bloodsuckers but all she seemed to be was an obsessed idiot. All she could think about was Tara; killing for food just seemed a mundane task. She shook her head in frustration.

“Y-You’re a v-vampire.” Tara answered her.

Willow glared at the blonde. “That’s the only thing that’s right with me.” She hissed.

Tara shook her head, her confidence growing. “N-No, it’s not.”

Willow placed a hand either side of Tara’s head and stared down at her, an amused smile replacing the frustrated expression. “Oh really? I was perfect before right? With my geeky ways.” She let out a disgusted laugh.

“You were to me.” Tara’s voice was small and sad.

Willow’s eyes softened again and Tara thought she was actually getting through to her. She wondered if a vampire could ever keep a part of their old self. The redhead moved her hand to caress Tara’s cheek. The touch was surprisingly gentle and Tara felt her eyelids flutter closed. Realising what she was doing, Willow grasped the blonde’s chin roughly and pushed her face closer. Tara’s eyes snapped open.

“Enough talk.” Willow hissed. “If I want you, I can take you.”

Tears began to well up in Tara’s eyes and she hated herself for being so weak. Her Willow was gone. She let a sob escape her throat as the tears spilled over and ran down into her hair.

Willow seemed a little lost for what to do for a few moments but her features soon twisted into anger. “Don’t start blubbering. It wont help you.” She pushed Tara’s face to the side and ran her tongue over the soft cheek, tasting the salty tears. This just caused Tara to sob louder. She yanked the blonde’s face back again so they were looking each other in the eye.

“You can’t tell me you don’t want this.” She growled. “I can smell the desire on you, I can feel it.”

Tara took a few deep breaths, attempting to calm herself. “All I w-want is my Willow back.”

Willow let out a cry of frustration. “She’s gone.” She said exasperated. “Accept it. I’m all you’ve got now baby.” Her words taunted the blonde.

“You’re wrong.” Tara shouted angrily. “She’ll always be with me. Even if we’re apart.”

The redhead laughed mockingly. “Aww, in your heart?” She spat out the words.

“Yes.” She replied simply.

“Well, I can take her with me when I rip your still beating heart from your body.” Willow sneered, her eyes narrowing. The menace in her voice was evident but Tara was sure it never reached those beautiful green eyes.

“Then go ahead. K-Kill me.” Tara managed, her emotions almost getting the better of her once again.

The redheaded vampire looked down at her curiously, as if determining whether she meant the words or not. She lifted herself from the blonde’s body and placed a hand firmly around Tara’s neck. In one sharp movement, she yanked the Wiccan to her feet, leaving the blonde to choke for air. Willow lowered her hand but stayed close to Tara, their bodies separated by mere inches.

“Is that really what you want?” Willow asked, all traces of malice gone from her voice and face. She studied the tear stained face of her former lover, her features softening as each second passed.

Tara looked at her, her blue eyes searching for answers within green orbs. “If I c-can’t be with my Willow then I’d prefer that than this t-torture you’re putting me through.”

Willow closed the gap between their bodies, placing one hand on Tara’s waist while the other slipped over the blonde’s cheek. She felt her stiffen at the contact. “You can be with me, forever.” She whispered, leaning her face into the blonde’s neck and nuzzling the skin there.

It would have been so easy to say yes then, to give in and allow Willow to turn her but she knew it would be wrong. Tara had always tried her hardest to do the right thing and she would continue to do so, after all, that is what her mother had taught her and she didn’t want to disappoint her. The gentle touches of the redhead’s lips to the sensitive skin of her neck was sending shivers throughout Tara’s body and she could feel her body screaming at her to give in. Willow must have sensed this as she caressed Tara’s neck with her tongue, causing an involuntary whimper to escape from the blonde’s lips. Tara wished Cerberus would show up soon, she wasn’t sure how much longer she could keep the vampire busy or how long she could resist her for.

Willow let out a small growl and snaked the hand on Tara’s hip underneath her top, feeling the warm skin of the blonde’s stomach. Tara gasped at the contact, desperately wanting to pull away, but her body not letting her. Her knees felt as though they would buckle at any moment and her heart thudded mercilessly in her chest. The redhead’s hand travelled upwards and cupped Tara’s breast over the cotton of her bra. Tara took a sharp intake of air, a mixture of emotion flooding through her. The contact felt so good yet she knew this wasn’t her Willow.

“Willow, no.” She gasped, trying to pull away from the redhead’s touch.

The vampire’s head pulled back from Tara’s neck and darkened green eyes looked up at her. Her tongue flicked out to lick her lips and she seemed a little confused as to why Tara had spoken. Her mind quickly kicked in and her expression turned to annoyance. “Why do you keep denying your body’s needs?” Her voice was low and almost unrecognisable.

Tara tried to slow her quick and heavy breathing, her mind racing for what she would do next. This situation could turn ugly at any moment and she wasn’t sure what time it was exactly. She guessed it would be hours before Cerberus arrived and the Slayer wasn’t anywhere to be seen. She was acutely aware that Willow hadn’t removed her hand from underneath her top. The redheaded vampire’s eyes wandered down to where her hand rested and a devilish smile tugged at her lips. She moved her hand slightly against the cotton of Tara’s bra. When Tara didn’t pull away or object, she brushed her thumb across the erect nipple that pushed at the white fabric. That was all it took for Tara’s knees to give in completely and she dropped to the floor. Willow moved quickly and caught the blonde, her arms wrapped tightly around Tara’s waist. She sunk to the ground with the blonde.

Tara squeezed her eyes shut, waiting for the angry outburst from the vampire but it never came. Willow merely continued to hold her, resting her head on Tara’s shoulder. The act confused Tara even more and she wished she knew what was going through the vampire’s mind. “Willow.” She heard herself whisper.

The redhead pulled back and allowed their eyes to meet, the conflict clear in her green pools. She was so ashamed that she could allow a mere human to affect her so much but she had felt the instinctive need to support the blonde and a vampire was never one to refuse their instincts. Now, hearing Tara whisper her name like that tugged at something inside her.

“Well, well, well.” The three words broke into the moment and both women’s heads snapped in the direction from where it came. Angelus stood nearby, his arms folded across his chest, and a disapproving look cast at Willow. “What’s going on here?”

Willow swiftly rose to her feet, leaving Tara knelt on the ground. She narrowed her eyes at the other vampire. “That is not your concern.” She growled.

Angelus let out a small chuckle and stepped forwards, quickly closing the gap between them. He now stood only a few feet from Willow. “First you don’t return to our home and now I find you wrapped around this human’s little finger. You are quite the disappointment.”

“Shut up!” Willow snapped, his words angering her immensely. “You know nothing of it.”

“I should show you how a vampire should truly act. It is obvious you need guidance.” Angelus suggested as his gaze wandered down to Tara.

Willow stepped in front of the blonde. “She’s mine.” She stated firmly.

“You’re only proving my point.” He taunted. With that, he lunged forward and backhanded the redhead across the face. She was caught off guard and was thrown to the ground. She rolled across the ground as Angelus moved in on Tara, gripping the back of her neck with one hand and lifting her.

Willow jumped to her feet again and glared menacingly at Angelus. The male vampire caressed Tara’s cheek with the back of his free hand. “Though I can understand why you like this one.”

The red haired vampire took a tentative step forwards but stopped when Angelus tightened his hold on the blonde’s neck, causing her to gasp in pain. Before Willow could react, the male vampire pushed Tara’s head to the side and morphed into his vampiric form. He quickly sunk his fangs into the creamy soft skin of the blonde’s neck, causing her face to freeze in an expression of pain and horror.

Willow lurched forwards, throwing herself at Angelus and causing him to drop Tara. The two tumbled to the ground, Willow donning her game face. Angelus pushed Willow away and landed a kick solidly in her stomach. She cried out at the contact but recovered quickly, grabbing his foot as he moved to kick her again. She yanked at his leg, causing him to lose his balance and topple to the ground. She quickly pounced on him and started pummelling his face with her fists.

Tara looked up groggily, clutching at her neck with one hand. She could feel the blood there but her concern was more for Willow than herself. She felt suddenly weak and was afraid she would faint at any moment. She felt a presence behind her and hoped it wasn’t another vampire. She would be sure to die this time if it were. Fortunately, she recognised the presence as that of the Slayer and she turned to see Buffy staring at the two fighting vampires in shock. The Slayer glanced down at Tara and quickly moved to her side.

“Oh my god, are you okay?” She asked, moving Tara’s hand aside so she could see the wound.

Tara nodded and looked back to where Willow was still laying into Angelus. The male vampire was waving his hands around, trying to catch the redhead but her blows were quickly overpowering him.

“What the hell is going on?” Buffy asked.

Tara’s eyes never left the two fighting vampires. “I’m not sure.” She muttered.

Slowly, Willow lifted herself from the now unconscious Angelus and stared down at him. She raised her hands up in front of her and looked down at them, shocked at what she had just done. Her head turned to her left and her now human features gazed at Tara and Buffy. Tara was surprised at what she saw in those green eyes. Willow was scared. The redhead gradually made her way towards them and Buffy stood to block her path to Tara.

“Back off!” Buffy shouted.

Tara shakily got to her feet, grabbing onto Buffy’s shoulder for support. Willow watched as the blonde Wiccan swayed and the Slayer looked unsurely at Tara. Willow extended her hand, her eyes drowning under Tara’s gaze. The blonde Wiccan moved to walk past Buffy but the Slayer stopped her with a strong arm.

“What are you doing?” Buffy asked as though Tara was mad.

Tara smiled to reassure the Slayer. “It’s okay. Trust me.”

Buffy paused, not moving. She hadn’t a clue what had happened before she got here but there was no way she was going to trust a vampire. The determined expression on the blonde witch’s face, however, lessened her resolve and she decided she should trust Tara. She moved aside and readied herself to stake the redheaded vampire if she even moved to harm Tara.

Tara walked slowly up to Willow, stopping a few feet away. She continued to sway but held her gaze firmly with Willow’s. The redhead stepped forwards, closing the gap and she saw Buffy flinch. Her green eyes shifted from the depth of Tara’s to the fresh wound on the blonde’s neck. She could smell the blood there and it was intoxicating. She raised a hand up to Tara’s neck and ran her forefinger over the skin gently. She pulled her hand back and looked down at the blood on her finger. Her mouth was watering for the taste of the crimson liquid and she moved her hand to her lips. She parted her lips and her tongue reached out to taste the blood. She stopped before she could make contact with it though and suddenly dropped her arm, wiping her hand on her leather trousers. Something didn’t seem right about tasting this woman and she had long passed the stage at which she tried to understand her feelings.

Tara looked at Willow in confusion. She wasn’t sure why the redhead had refused to taste her blood but she knew it was a good thing that she hadn’t. She hoped so anyway. She watched as Willow closed her eyes and seemed to give herself over to her other senses. Tara leaned forwards and before she could stop herself, she was brushing her lips over the redhead’s. Willow reacted immediately and pushed into the kiss, wrapping her arms around the blonde’s waist. Tara pulled back and looked into darkening green eyes. There was something about this vampire that reminded her of her Willow. Perhaps there were some remnants of the human inside her. She lifted her hand to Willow’s cheek and cupped it gently. The vampire leaned into the touch.

“I need your help, Willow.” Tara’s words seemed to snap the redhead out of the trance she was in.

“Help?” She asked suspiciously.

Tara nodded slowly, not wanting to set the vampire off again. “Help me return to my own time.”

The vampire’s suspicion deepened even further. “Why should I?”

“Because, Willow, I will let you have me any way you want me if you do.” She spoke the words full of conviction, realising she hadn’t stuttered at all. Willow seemed to realised this also as she considered the blonde’s words.

Willow glanced over Tara’s shoulder and watched as Buffy glared at her. The Slayer was obviously biting back a protest. Willow pulled back, releasing Tara. “What is it I have to do?”

Tara released the breath she had been holding. She was relieved the vampire seemed willing to help her but she was concerned that the icy veneer had gone back up. She glanced around and moved to a strong tree trunk, which she sunk down against. Her strength was quickly leaving her and she hoped she would have enough energy to complete the spell with Cerberus.

Before she could explain to Willow, a loud pounding reached her ears. The redhead had heard it before her and was looking around in alarm. Soon, the source of the noise came into view and Cerberus came to a halt in front of Willow. The vampire took up an offensive stance, causing the three-headed demon to laugh down at her.

“I see you have brought the other witch.” He spoke to Tara.

Willow looked round at Tara, eyeing her. Tara decided it would be best just to get on with the spell. She couldn’t handle facing an angry vampire right now. “I have been hurt. Will we still be able to do the spell?” She asked.

Cerberus padded towards her and seemed to study her. “I can still use your energy, if that’s what you mean.” He glanced at Willow and then at Buffy before returning his gaze to Tara. “Though I’m not sure you will survive the journey.”

Buffy stepped forwards. “You can’t take the risk!” She objected. Willow remained silent behind them all.

Tara shook her head. “I have to.” She looked up at Cerberus. “Let’s get this over with.”

The conflict that Tara must have felt, being in VampWillow's arms, being kissed by her, knowing that it wasn't really her Willow. Very powerful scene.

very sweet, i love the conflict running through V/W's head when she's with Tara. It was also nice to see younger Willow offering support to Tara, even though she's still with Oz, Tara has an effect on her.

Don't doubt yourself Caz, this was a great update and i eagerly await the next part :)

Cheers

Very powerful. I wasn't sure about the VW idea at first, but I really like how you showed Tara's intense conflicting emotions about VW, especially in this last update.
