Ok my bad. I forgot about the jinx :paranoid , I'm sorry onyxsundrops :ashamed I didn't mean to :cry forgive me? :aww (sorry a bit of drama queen here... hehe :grin )

The update was great Stormforce, but hiding under desk? mmmmhhh... *suspicious* why is that? :hmm

I'm not a very big fan of the angst, ok maybe a little teeny tiny bit of me like angst, but I have to say that in your story it's mmmhhh... necessary? and it's so very well written that I can't complain, it's actually part of what makes it the great story that is... and I just realised that I say too much and probably make no sense so this is me shutting up now. :yikes

Oh ummhh... one more thing...

Update soon? please?

Onyxsundrops - Ah, you like angst, huh. :D I can say some of that is coming up a few chapters ahead. ;)

Egnalos - Why am I hiding under my desk, you ask. Well, I can't say why. :D But I think I'll stay there for a while...especially when I post a later chapter. Don't worry you were making sense :) And here's the update.

Chapter Twenty-Three: Trouble in Kilika Temple

Tara had asked Dawn to fly over the temple before sitting down at the Kilika Docks. As the ship passed over they could see the fiends coming out of the temple in waves. What surprised them when Dawn sat the ship down at the docks- was Kilika village was calm with no fiends. Glancing around the girls ran to the only person that would tell them what was going on.

“What brings you here?” Cordelia asked when the girls ran inside her hut.

“The fiends! Where the hell are they?” Faith asked looking back at the calm village.

Cordelia sighed as she, too, looked at the village “The gate. The Youth League is keeping it closed, and not letting anyone in or out.”

“We have to get in there! We saw the temple overrun with fiends.” Tara said urgently

“Tell you what. I’ll distract one of the guards, and when the other one opens the gate, you rush through, okay? We can’t have those vermin reaching the village…besides I don’t want to see that sulky face.”

“Sulky face… Angel?” Buffy asked as they followed Cordelia out the door.

“Of course. Now wait here for the gate to open.” Cordelia said as she walked up to the gate, and pulled a guard away.

“I knew she was worried about him.” Tara giggled.

“It’s working!” Willow said watching the guard completely forget about the gate.

“That just leaves one.” Faith said and grinned as he opened the gate.

“Now! Let’s go!” Buffy said as the girls made a run for it.

The guards didn’t see the four girls shoot by and into the woods laughing all the way. When the girls got into the jungle they saw men and women running from several large fiends. Casting a Blizzaga spell Willow froze four Bombs, leaving them for Tara to shatter.

Side flipping Faith brought her spear down on a canine fiend, and immediately back flipped over an Ice Flan. Buffy threw a Heat Blaster mix killing the flan and ducked under a poisonous Ochu vine.

Tara turned and fired four Flare infused rounds into the Ochu’s mid-section, and dodged a bird fiend. Faith stabbed a lizard fiend in the head and jumped back as a Spirit fiend appeared.

Buffy hurriedly mixed of a Soul Stealer, and threw it at the Spirit; the fiend was pulled into the Farplane along with a newly arrived Behemoth fiend.

Willow had just cast a Flare spell on the Ochu when Faith flew past her, and crashed into a large tree. Buffy cried out as she, too, was thrown into a tree thirty-foot away. Willow saw Tara back flip four times and stop in front of her, turning she saw a new fiend half as big as the airship.

The fiend itself was dull gray, with silver armor completely covering its body. Two green glowing eyes stared from under the half faceplate, a mouth full of razor-sharp pointed teeth showed when it growled.

Tara fired two rounds and watched as they shattered, the rounds seemed to make the fiends angry as it raised one large arm in the air. Both Willow and Tara flew back into the bushes as the arm connected with the ground. Standing Willow hurriedly cast a Scan spell on the fiend as Tara rose from the ground, with Faith and Buffy joining them.

[Scan]

Name: Ironside

Fiend: Armor

Level: 34

HP: 8432

MP: 1400

Immune to all Status Effects

[End]

“Well?” Faith asked and saw the worried look on Willow’s face.

“It’s immune to all Status Effects! Elemental Magic will hardly touch it, we have to attack it physically!” Willow said glancing between the girls and the fiend.

“But Tara only has her pistols!” Faith said worriedly having seen the rounds shatter on the fiend.

“Here!” Buffy shouted tossing Tara her sword and pulling her knives.

Willow drew her own sword and sprinted toward the fiend, swinging the sword around she made a small slice in the armor. But wasn’t quick enough as she was hit and thrown back into a tree. Faith had landed four good hits before she joined Willow against a tree.

Buffy ducked under the arm as it swung around, jumping she cut through the armor. With a piece of armor off Tara thrust her sword into the fiends’ stomach, and bent back as its arm swung at her head.

“The neck!” Buffy shouted and jumped on to the fiends back. With a hard thrust she lodged her knives into its neck, before she was thrown off. Tara tossed the sword back to Buffy and jumped up grabbing the knives, with her body swinging around; Tara swung herself into a handstand and twisted her body around. Turning in a complete circle she used the fiends’ back and kicked off flipping over in the air, and landed on her feet in a crouching position.

The fiend exploded throwing everyone back on to the ground as it disappeared. Rushing over Willow helped Tara to stand, and immediately began running her hands over her body looking for wounds. Not finding anything but a couple of scratches and a few bruises she sighed in relief, and tenderly kissed Tara.

“You’re one to talk about losing me!” Willow teased as she broke the kiss and grinned.

“Sorry.” Tara smiled at looked over at Buffy and Faith, who were at that moment sharing a kiss. “And they talk about us.”

Willow giggled shaking her head, “Come on!” she shouted and jumped over a blockade with the others following. When they reached the temple the New Yevon guards was shooting more Spirit fiends as the came out of the temple.

The once red flames that burned around the temple were now a bright blue and burned higher in the air. Rushing past the guards and into the temple, Willow cut down a Spirit fiend before leading the girls into the Cloister of Trials.

Near the fire room Angel was fighting a seven-foot tall black and red man like fiend with wings. Angel thrust his sword into the fiends’ chest, and was knocked back by a Firaga spell as the fiend disappeared. Buffy and Tara kneeled down beside him as he rolled over on his back and looked at the ceiling.

“Angel?” Buffy asked worriedly.

“Don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine.”

“The fiends?” Willow asked as she and Faith stayed on guard.

“Somehow we’re holding them off. They’re coming from inside the chamber… one after another. If the fiends break through and into town, they’ll reach Cordelia!”

“No they won’t.” Tara said standing.

“Cause we won’t let them!” Willow said looking into the fire room.

“Thanks.” Angel said and sat up. “I’ll take care of any fiends that get by you… now please, hurry.”

“You got it!” Faith said and ran into the fire room with the others right behind her.

Quickly but carefully they stepped into the Fayth’s chamber and saw Ifrit standing in front of a hole where his statue once was. A teardrop hit the floor as Tara sadly looked down.

“Again…”

“Tara…” Buffy said sadly

“Baby…”

“I know. I’m ready.” Tara said raising her head to look at the Aeon.

As if knowing what was going on, Ifrit roared and threw a fireball at the girls. Ifrit was knocked back as a Blizzaga spell, and a Winter Storm mix hit him. Tara fired ice infused rounds at the Aeon, as Faith swung her spear around leaving a deep gash into Ifrit’s arm. Ifrit began to glow reddish black and ripped the floor out from under Willow’s feet.

Throwing the floor with Willow on it into the air, the glow got brighter as flames surrounded his body. With a mighty roar Ifrit threw the flames at the floor, Tara screamed as the flames exploded and Willow hit the floor on fire.

Buffy threw a low level Waterfall mix at Willow killing the flames. Buffy and Faith took several steps back, as Tara’s body glowed orange, and her eyes went completely red. Picking up Willow’s sword she raced at Ifrit swinging the weapon. Knowing not to get in her way, Buffy and Faith ran over to Willow and pulled her to the door. Finding a pulse Buffy pulled her hand back and laughed, looking up Faith glared at her before she looked at Willow and laughed.

Tara was connecting hits left and right giving Ifrit no time to retaliate. One of his horns hit the floor followed the second. He swung his giant paw around leaving four deep wounds on Tara’s bicep, not feeling the pain she swung the sword around, and through his neck. Ifrit’s head fell to the floor and disappeared along with his body.

“You know, baby, I was worried.”

Tara whirled around and saw Willow standing up smirking, covered with soot, and not a burn on her body. The orange glow disappeared as Tara ran to Willow picking her up in a hug.

“What? How?” Tara asked sitting Willow down and looking her body over.

“Something you taught me, remember? Protect, and Shell? I cast those just before the flames hit and exploded.” Willow cast a low level healing spell on Tara’s arm closing the wounds, and not leaving a scar.

“Damn! First Will goes Berserk, now you! We’ve really gotta teach you both not to do that!” Buffy teased as she looked down the hole.

“I wonder where they lead?” Faith asked as she, too, looked into the hole and saw pyreflies rise up.

“Right now I don’t care. This shit is getting creepier!” Buffy said and backed up.

When the girls returned back to the temple yard the blue flames had gone back to burning red. The New Yevon members thanked the girls, and paid them for their trouble before they left. The airship hovered near the temple with the cargo door down, waiting.

Returning to the bridge the girls sat down knowing they’d be sore in the morning. Dawn had moved the ship to a safe uninhabited island, as they rested. Buffy was the first to get up and began to pace around the room.

“I just don’t get it!”

“What?” Willow asked snuggling up to Tara before a funny look crossed her face.

“Will?” Faith asked when Willow looked at Tara strangely

“Baby, you need a bath!” Willow laughed and bolted from the seat to avoid getting hit.

“Like you don’t!” Tara shouted trying to grab Willow.

“You all need bath!” Dawn shouted from her seat and giggled “Smell you over here!”

“Oh shut up!” Tara said crossing her arms.

Buffy hit Mizu on the back of her head when she laughed. “Hey! I don’t see any of you fighting those fiends!”

“We not professionals like you!”

“Shut up mini-fiend!” Buffy said glaring at her sister as Shinra walked over.

“Fortunately, I know everything.” He said looking at Buffy. “What don’t you get?”

“Why are the fiends are coming out of the temples?”

“The fiends didn’t come from the temple. They came from the Chambers of the Fayth.”

“Right, exactly. But why?”

Shinra paused for a moment before shrugging his shoulders. “I’m just a kid.” He said and jumped back to avoid Buffy’s foot.

“Some know-it-all you are!”

“Okay, we know the holes are new. Simple fact is-that’s where the Fayth’s statues were.” Willow said as Tara pulled her into her lap.

“And you said there was one in Bevelle, right?” Faith said grabbing Buffy to stop her pacing.

“But that one… was made by Vegnagun, wasn’t it?” Buffy said as she sat down in Faith’s lap.

“That’s true… but they’re connected, somehow.” Tara remembered seeing the pyreflies rising out of each hole.

“How?” Dawn asked turning in her seat.

“That I don’t know… but I have a feeling there are deeper connections.”

“It’s time for the meeting. You wanna head to Bevelle?” Mizu asked looking over her shoulder.

“Yeah, let’s go.” Tara said leaning back and flinched as the chair hit a sore spot.

Chapter Twenty-Four: The Meeting

Dawn sat the ship down in Macalania Woods and let the girls off, before she took off to land in the Calm Lands. Near the entrance to the temple Willow slowed to a walk and held her hand up, following her gaze the others saw Gippal.

“I wonder if Baralai and Nooj are already in there?” Buffy asked as they snuck by two guards and into the temple.

The lift was just returning when they stepped on and took it down, when the lift landed Gippal was walking into the Fayth’s chamber. Hurrying along the trial path the girls took the second lift up and followed Gippal down the hole into the underground. Finding the same chain Tara slid down to the bottom closely followed by the others.

Taking a deep breath, Willow kept her eyes on the large machina guards and ran across the room, and jumped down. Tara watched a drone machina guard float by before she made a run for Willow. Buffy and Faith waited till the next two guards floated or walked by, before making a run for it. Both Willow and Tara were waiting for them near the door.

With no sign of machina or fiends the girls stayed close to Gippal as he lead the way back to Vegnagun’s chamber. At the entrance Buffy and Faith hid on the right side of the door, with Willow and Tara on the left, as Gippal met with Nooj, and Baralai.

“Hey.” Gippal said approaching.

“You’re late.” Baralai said turning toward the young Al Bhed

“If he’d been on time, I would have been worried.” Nooj said keeping his back turned toward the others.

“So much for being missing.” Tara whispered to Willow who nodded.

“Are you sure you should be here?” Gippal asked glancing from Baralai to Nooj. “I mean, the Youth League and New Yevon are falling apart without you to baby-sit.”

“You expect too much.” Nooj said finally turning around to face the other men.

“Whatever. Why are we here, again?”

“Vegnagun is gone.” Baralai said looking into the hole.

“Are you saying Yevon’s not to blame for that damn thing being on the lose!?”

“It’s the truth! You showed up, then Tara and her two goons, no wonder it hauled ass! That thing is more sensitive than its size would lead you to believe! It detects hostility, and springs to life just like that!” Baralai snapped his fingers. “Just thinking about harming it, it awakens like frightened child.”

“Goons?!” Buffy nearly shouted causing Faith to cover her mouth.

“You did your homework, I see.” Nooj said laughing.

“I’ve had two years.”

“Wait!” Gippal said stepping near the hole and looking down, “You’re saying that Vegnagun woke up because someone was trying to destroy it? Who?”

“Who indeed. And that’s what I’m confused about. You, Nooj came here before the Gullwings, didn’t you come here to claim it for yourself? It awoke and left, why? I’ll tell you why: Because deep down you hated it. Now tell me, did you come here to use it or destroy it? Well?” Baralai asked turning toward Nooj.

“What do you think?” Nooj said lowering his hand, “It was both. You may think that it’s impossible, but it isn’t. I wouldn’t expect you to understand, since you’ve always been too naïve to see.”

“Then, don’t expect me to trust you, now. I believed in you once… when we were training for the Crimson Squad. I thought I’d never find a better friend than you. But you betrayed that trust… …two years ago.” Baralai said pulling a gun and pointing it at Nooj.

“Baralai!” Gippal shouted shocked.

“Why? Tell me why! Why did you shoot? Why did you shoot Gippal and me? We were friends, and you shot us in the back! Answer me! Dammit!” Baralai shouted causing Nooj to laugh.

“Calm down!” Gippal said looking at Baralai before turning to Nooj, “Apologize already!” Gippal pulled his own gun pointing it at Baralai. “I will if I have to!”

Nooj’s body began to glow as he dropped his cane. “This has turned out perfectly, wouldn’t you think? Yes, I did shoot you.” He said pulling his own gun and pointing it at Gippal. “You were easy targets!” Nooj spoke with another voice overlapping his own.

“Why?” Baralai asked again cocking his gun.

“I made him do it.” A female voice said, “He was too weak to resist me.” The voice said and laughed evilly.

“Nooj?” Gippal asked confused.

“I don’t expect you to present any more of a challenge than he did. Not now.” Nooj spoke with the female voice, as pyreflies floated out from his body and surrounded Baralai.

“You see, I found that the mind that hates and despairs is the easiest to break.” The female voice said from Baralai’s body, as Nooj fell to the floor. “Two years ago, it was the same with you, Nooj. Seeking your own death. Now you can have it.” Baralai said about to shoot the kneeling man.

“Wait!” Gippal shouted

“Stop it!” Tara shouted running into the room.

“Girls get out of here!” Nooj shouted trying to stand as a barrier activated around the three men.

“Watch out!” Faith shouted back flipping as a Malboro charged them, and brought her spear down severing two tentacles.

Willow cast a Flare spell as she rolled to the side dodging the fiends’ tentacles. Tara whirled around and fired six Holy infused rounds into the fiend, as Buffy threw a Potato Masher mix.

Seeing the Holy spells begin to work Buffy grabbed Faith and ducked, just as Willow and Tara ducked. The fiend exploded in a bright light as it disappeared to the Farplane.

Once the light had died down the girls looked around. “Where’d they go?” Buffy asked standing up.

“I saw Baralai run out the door. Nooj and Gippal probably chased after him.” Faith said standing.

“So, Nooj shot them two years ago thinking he’d killed them.” Willow said flopping down on the floor.

Tara looked to where the men had been standing, “Yes, but something was in him. That voice wasn’t his, but a female voice.”

“I don’t like this. Try to answer a few questions, and you just get more questions to be answered!” Buffy said flopping down beside Willow.

“Do you think Gippal would tell us anything if we found him?” Faith asked looking into the deep hole.

“Gippal? That bastard wouldn’t give you water if you were dying of thirst in the Bikanel Desert!” Buffy snorted.

Tara grabbed both Willow and Buffy and pulled them up. “Come on, let’s go to Djose. We may find something there. Maybe Gippal.”

Getting out of the temple proved easier than getting in, and soon they were back on the airship heading for Djose Temple. Dawn was still trying to get Buffy to agree to let her use a sword on Gippal, but she wouldn’t, and said that was her job. Dawn landed the ship outside of the temple entrance and waited with a sword by her side.

The temple grounds looked like a war-zone, damaged, and broken machina littered the ground, along with a few dead men. The wounded men and women were lying to the side of the temple covered in bloody bandages. There were a few Al Bhed pointing guns at the door leading inside the temple.

“Frana’c dryd pycdynt?” (Where’s that bastard?) Buffy asked approaching the other Al Bhed.

“Fru?” (Who?) One of the men asked not taking his eyes off the door.

“Gippal.”

“Tuh’d ghuf. Ra jyhecrat.” (Don’t know. He vanished.)

“Tyssed!” (Dammit!)

“Great! Now they’re all gone again!” Willow shouted angrily

“We know something funny’s going on.”

“Save that for later, Buffy.” Faith said as another Al Bhed man rushed out of the temple door.

“Fa dneat vekrdehk dra fiends uh uin ufh, pid… Dra fiends vuiht y fyo du sanka fedr dra machina.” (We tried fighting the fiends on our own, but… The fiends found a way to merge with the machina.) The man said as he fell to his knees breathing hard.

“Well shit!” Willow said and looked at Buffy.

“Don’t blame me! I’m never here!”

“I think that’s our cue.” Tara said and pulled Willow behind her into the temple.

With the Al Bhed keeping watch inside the temple it was an easy walk through the trials. Taking the elevator up they found another Al Bhed aiming his gun at the chamber entrance; they stepped by him and into the room. An Al Bhed man flew by and crashed into the wall, glancing around the corner the girls saw Ixion snort and stomp the floor.

“Another Aeon…” Willow said as they stepped into the room.

“And he’s merged with machina.” Buffy said watching Tara.

“How can this be…” Tara trailed off staring at the lightning Aeon.

Ixion stomped the floor again as the horn on his head began to glow gathering energy. The girls scattered as Ixion threw his head back, and then forward releasing his attack. Buffy rose from the floor and reached into her pouch, her eyes widened as Ixion charged at her. With a scream she began running around the room, trying to mix up a Tidal Wave.

Running straight at the wall Buffy used it to jump on then back flip over Ixion, throwing the mix at him and landing in a crouch. The mix hit the Aeon as he hit the wall, water rushed over his body followed by a Waterga spell from Willow.

Ixion shook as the water hit the electricity on his body, Faith struck twice before jumping back out of his path. Tara fired two Flare bullets into his side and watched as the magic ripped off some of the metal parts, as he fell to the ground, not moving.

As Ixion lay on the floor the girls walked into the Fayth’s chamber to find another hole, and pyreflies rising up.

“I wonder what’s down there.” Buffy said looking into the hole.

“Go find out.” Willow said keeping the grin off her face.

“Uh-uh! No way!” Buffy shook her head waving her hands in front of her face.

Tara looked down into dark depths of the hole and shivered. “Something is telling me to stay away.”

“What?” Faith asked confused. “You feel something?”

Willow turned toward Tara and saw something out of the corner of her eye, looking to the chamber entrance she saw Ixion. His body was glowing with electric sparks as he took a step forward.

“Watch out!” Willow screamed as Ixion exploded.

“What?” Tara turned and was thrown back and fell into the hole.

“Tara!” Willow, Buffy and Faith shouted as she disappeared into the darkness.

“Fuck! Come on! We gotta get back to the ship! Shinra can throw one of his Commsphere’s into the hole!” Faith said pulling Willow out of the chamber.

“No! I can’t leave! I’ll go down on my own!”

“We don’t know where it leads! Tara has her weapons, she’ll be fine until we get to her!”

“No, I won’t leave her I…”

“Sorry, Will, but I had to.” Faith said after she’d knocked Willow out.

With one last look at the hole Buffy followed Faith out of the chamber and back to the airship.

[Somewhere deep in the hole]

Tara is falling upside down in a very bright white place, with nothing and no one but herself around. Her fall suddenly stopped as she turned right side up and looked around.

“It’s so bright.” She said aloud turning in all directions.

“Can you hear me?” A woman’s voice asked from nowhere, but everywhere at the same time.

“Yes.” Tara answered.

“Ah, so you can hear me.” The voice said happily.

“I can, but I can’t see you. Where are you?”

“Right here.” The voice laughed.

Tara suddenly opened her eyes and found herself on the Farplane in the purple shirt and gray skirt. Bright lights float around and surround her as she sat up and looked around.

“What’s happening?”

The lights float away from Tara and move a twenty-feet away as a woman appears, and walks forward with a smile on her face.

“I finally found you.” The woman says looking at Tara.

“Glory?” Tara whispers taking a step back.

“Glory? No, it’s me Tsuki. I’ve waited so long, Lenne.”

Tara turned away from the woman and shook her head. “I’m not Lenne, my name is Tara.”

“Lenne.” Tsuki continued not hearing Tara speak, “We disappeared together, but when I woke up, I was alone. I looked for you, but never found you. While I wandered, I began to realize something: Spira hadn’t changed at all. Everyone was still fighting over nothing, and still dying like they used to. A thousand years have passed, and they can’t leave the hatred behind them. I’m through waiting, Lenne. I’ll fix it, I promise. This world continues to fail us and what’s worse, I failed to protect you.” Tsuki said clenching her fist as a tear fell to the ground. “But Vegnagun will make that all go away. And we’ll fade together again. Help me do it.”

Tsuki ran her hands down Tara’s shoulder and turned her around bring her into a hug. Bright lights surround Tara’s body as they fly away, as Tara lost control of her body and hugged Tsuki back.

“Open your eyes!” A voice shouted causing Tara to regain control of her body and pull back.

Looking over she saw it was Nooj who’d spoken with Gippal by his side. Looking up she saw Tsuki revert into Baralai, as she reverted back to her normal clothing.

“The end is not far now.” Baralai said walking to the edge of the Farplane, a swirling black portal opened and he stepped through.

“Here.” Nooj said handing Tara a red sphere. “It was all I could find.”

“Yeah, me too.” Gippal said also handing her a red sphere.

“What are these?”

“Our wills.” Nooj said looking into the portal

“What?”

“Don’t worry, he’s kidding. If you watch them you’ll understand how we met.” Gippal said walking up to the portal.

“Don’t go!”

“We’ve got it under control.”

Nooj turned and smiled at Tara “Take care of things topside, okay?” he said entering the portal.

Suddenly everything went black, Tara looked around into the darkness. “If it isn’t one thing, it’s another! Hey! Where am I?” she shouted to the darkness and fell to her knees. “I’m alone…” she said and fell unconscious. She felt herself being lifted up into the air.

“Tara! Tara! Wake up!” Opening her eyes she saw Willow kneeling over her in Vegnagun’s chamber. Buffy was jumping up and down shouting happily as Faith grinned with a black eye. “You’re alright!” Willow shouted happily as she picked Tara up and gave her a bone-crushing hug.

“You’ve been taking lessons from Buffy, haven’t you?” Tara squeaked out right before getting the longest gentlest kiss she could remember.

“Come on, baby, let’s get you back to the ship.” Willow said picking her up, and carrying her out of the chamber.

Chapter Twenty-Five: Airship

Willow had sat Tara down in one of the chairs on the bridge as Buffy and Dawn ran around getting things together. Willow was checking her over for any wounds, and sighed in relief not finding any. Buffy brought a blanket to cover Tara, who was protesting she was fine. Dawn hurried over with a glass of water, and turned to leave as Tara grabbed her arm.

“Everyone! I’m fine!” Tara said leaving no room for an argument.

“Baby! We thought we’d lost you! Now let us help you relax!” Willow said propping Tara’s feet up.

“Yeah, we hadn’t heard anything, so we tried tossing a Commsphere into the hole… but that didn’t help one damn bit!” Buffy said glaring at Shinra.

“Hey, it’s still in beta! Don’t blame me!”

“What happened?” Faith asked carrying a warm damp towel over.

“First tell me what happened to your eye.” Tara said looking at Faith’s black eye.

“Will, happened.” Faith grinned. “I knocked her out, and when she woke up she hit me.”

“Will!”

“What?” Willow asked innocently

Tara shook her head with a sigh. It didn’t take long to tell everyone what had happened after she’d fell into the hole. Shinra took the spheres to his consol, and began checking them over. Willow was still holding Tara not letting her go, as Buffy and Faith paced around the room.

“Okay, Glory isn’t Glory, but a woman named Tsuki, right?” Faith asked getting a nod from Tara.

“And Lenne, huh?” Buffy asked sitting down on the floor.

“Don’t know about Tsuki but Lenne is the girl from the dressphere.” Shinra said from his consol running the second sphere through the computer.

“That’s Lenne?”

“Yeah. She wore that dress one thousand years ago.”

Faith had to hold Buffy down as she screamed death threats at the young boy.

“Just why didn’t you tell us?” Willow asked with a glare in his general direction.

“You didn’t ask. Anyway all I knew was her name. So, what’s to tell?”

Calming down Buffy sighed and sat up. “Okay, whatever. So, the reason Tsuki calls Tara ‘Lenne’ is-“

“Because of the dressphere?” Willow asked standing up

“I can’t say. But that’s what I’d think.” Shinra nodded before going back to work on the sphere.

“Forget Lenne! Tsuki’s the one wanting to vaporize Spira!” Dawn said from her seat looking at the Cactuar spheres.

“What can we do? Let Nooj and Gippal deal with it for now.” Faith said rubbing the bridge of her nose

“Hey! Cactuars!” Dawn shouted interrupting Mizu.

Turning they saw two of the spheres weakly glowing, walking over Tara picked up one, as Dawn picked up the second.

“Chiapa-Kilika Woods.” Tara read as Dawn waited

“Bartschella-Kilika.” Dawn read and handed the sphere to Buffy before she sat in the pilot’s seat, and headed for Kilika.

“Tara?” Buffy asked staring at the sphere. “Was Tsuki anything like Glory?”

“Not really, the only thing is they look alike.”

“Good. Because I didn’t really wanna deal with another Glory-like person.”

“Hey you wanna watch the sphere?” Shinra asked from his seat.

[Sphere One]

An image showed a dark cave with purple fog rising out of the walls with pyreflies lazily floating around. Several groups of men were walking ahead of the recorder as a sudden burst of gunfire could be heard, Gippal ran by the recorder firing at something. The other men turned and began shooting or stabbing each other, as a female voice was heard laughing in the background.

[End]

“What was that?” Tara asked confused as the image disappeared.

Faith was watching Willow closely as her eyes glazed over, “The Den of Woe.” Willow said before her eyes returned to normal, and she shook her head.

“How do you know?” Buffy asked quietly.

“I don’t know.”

“You did the same thing on the Mushroom Rock Road, what’s going on?” Faith asked watching as Willow stepped back.

“I don’t know. It’s weird, like someone else is in my body…and I’m feeling their emotions. When we were on Mushroom Rock, I saw flashes of that dream, and felt anger rising. And… on the Highroad after we finished the machina off I saw… a woman who looked just like Tara. She asked for help and disappeared.”

“Why didn’t you tell us?” Tara asked worriedly.

“That’s why. You’re worried, and I didn’t want to worry you.”

“But you should have, no telling what could’ve happened.”

“I know, Buffy, I know… Let’s just watch the second sphere, and talk about this later. Okay?”

[Sphere Two]

Baralai, Nooj, and Gippal are standing in front of the Den of Woe with a Bevelle priest, and several guards standing around.

“What happened?” The priest asked

“Don’t know!” Baralai said breathing hard.

“Everyone just went crazy!” Gippal said resting against the cave wall.

“Yes, they turned and began killing each other.” Nooj said with his head down.

“The Lady Maester isn’t going to be pleased.” The priest sighed. “Alright, close and seal this door!”

The three men glanced at each other with worried looks.

“Sir, what if there are others still alive trapped inside?” Baralai asked

“There are no others, you are the only three survivors. And congratulations.”

“Congratulations?”

“Yes, you are now members of the Crimson Squad.”

“Thank you Maester Ethan!” Gippal shouted happily as he Nooj, and Baralai shook hands and began to leave.

“Kill them.” Ethan ordered causing the three men to run.

The recorded turned around as the three men ran from the cave and disappeared to Mushroom Rock Road.

“After them! Lady Glory will not be pleased if you let them escape!” Ethan said as the Bevelle guards ran out of the cave.

[End]

No one said a word as the image disappeared. Glancing from the sphere then around at each of the others, Willow backed up.

“The Den of Woe was where the men trained to become members of the Crimson Squad. That was during Operation Mi’ihen, also, Ethan tried to kill them because of what they’d saw inside the cave. There was one man left inside the cave, and was murdered by… Logos!”

“How do you know this?” Faith asked confused. “You were with us the entire time, except when you swam after Sin.”

“I don’t know! It just came to me!” Willow said holding her head and passed out as the ship landed near the Kilika dock.

Tara caught Willow before she could hit the floor and picked her up. “You find the cactuars, and I’ll get Will to our room.” She said and headed for the lift.

Willow began to toss and turn as soon as Tara had placed her on the bed, Tara’s eyes widened when she saw blood seeping through the white sheet. Lifting the cover up she saw a three-inch wound on Willow’s shoulder that had appeared.

She gasped as another wound appeared on Willow’s bicep, reaching into her pouch she pulled out a vial of Potion. Instead of pouring it in her mouth, she poured a small amount on the wounds and watched them heal.

“What’s going on?” Tara whispered as another wound appeared across Willow’s stomach.

[Dream/Nightmare]

Opening her eyes she found herself inside a dark cave with purple fog rising from the floor and the walls, with pyreflies floating around. What got her attention more than anything was the body’s littering the cave floor, and impaled to the walls.

Turning in every direction she counted fourteen men and women lying on the ground, and sixteen impaled to the wall. Some had been shot, others had been stabbed to death, and the rest had their throats cut or ripped out.

“What the hell!?” she said aloud as her voice bounced off the cave walls and back to her.

“Don’t you know where you are?” a voice asked causing her to turn.

“Where are you? And I’m going to assume this is the Den of Woe, right? What really happened here?”

“You are correct this is the Den of Woe… as for what happened, I did!” the voice shouted as Willow screamed when her arm was cut open.

“Who are you?” Willow asked as her bicep was cut open, and then hit the ground as an invisible blade cut her stomach open. “Stop! What did I do?”

“She is mine not yours!” the voice shouted and Willow could see the fog being disturbed as the invisible blade came around toward her neck. She bent back just avoiding the blade and was kicked on her chest, knocking her on her back. The last thing she saw was the fog being disturbed in front of her face.

[End]

Faith had touched the sphere to the Kilika Dock releasing the cactuar and grinned as it flipped over twice before disappearing. Buffy had to swim around the island to the jungle avoiding the Youth League and New Yevon members. Lifting the sphere up she touched a rather large tree and laughed when the cactuar appeared chattered something, and disappeared.

Faith helped her out of the water and they headed back into the cargo hold of the ship. When the cargo door closed they both turned when they heard Tara scream. Not even glancing at each other they raced up the stairs, and joined Dawn and the others as they ran into the bedroom.

No one knows who screamed when the four girls and one young boy entered the room, and found a gory site. The smell of blood alone caused them to get violently sick, but with what they were seeing, they knew they would have nightmares for a very long time too come.

The body’s of men and women were either lying on the floor, or hanging from the wall. The floor and walls were covered in blood, as was an unconscious Tara, who was laying half on top of Willow. Willow herself was covered with wounds, and her blood soaking the sheets red.

“Get them outta here! Now!” Buffy shouted to Mizu as she pointed to Dawn, and Shinra.

Mizu hurriedly grabbed both of them and hurried out of the room wishing she had never went in-in the first place. Faith stepped close to the bed and nearly slipped on the blood-covered floor, regaining her balance she first checked Tara’s pulse, and found it beating steadily.

Picking Tara up, Faith handed her to Buffy who quickly carried her out of the room. Leaning down Faith checked Willow’s pulse, finding a weak pulse she quickly got a potion and lifted Willow’s head. With the Potion doing its job, Faith took a look around the room, and watched as the blood and bodies disappeared.

Looking down at Willow she saw her eyes slowly open and sighed in relief, just before Buffy appeared with a now awake Tara beside her.

“I think you both need to tell us just what the hell went on.” Faith said helping Willow sit up as Buffy helped Tara to sit beside her on the bed.

Well there's 25 and i'm finishing up 26. Hope ya enjoyed, thanks for reading. :D

Chapter 26

Postby Stormforce » Fri Sep 24, 2004 2:58 pm

Onyxsundrops - I've twisted a few things around...and I don't think this chapter is going to help...much. But everything will be explained. Right now I'm a couple chapters ahead, but I'm going back through them, taking out, and adding things. In doing that i plan on explaining things better. :D

Chapter Twenty-Six: Tarapalooza?

Faith and Buffy had sat down in two chairs across from the bed, and took a deep breath. The smell of blood was gone and only the sweet scent of vanilla, and cherries could be detected.

Faith watched closely as Willow rubbed her hands over her face before wrapping her arms around Tara’s waist, and leaning in to leave a soft kiss on her neck. Tara was shaking as she glanced around the room before leaning back into Willow’s comforting embrace.

“Well? What the hell happened? We leave for fifteen minutes, and come in here to find a fucking death scene!” Faith asked angrily.

“I don’t really know!” Tara shouted. “After I laid Willow on the bed, wounds started appearing. First one on her shoulder, and then her bicep and stomach. You see this!?” Tara asked tossing an empty vial to Faith. “That was a Phoenix Down! Dammit! After the wound on her stomach appeared, her throat was cut open! After that I could smell blood, and saw the bodies appear, and then it felt like I couldn’t breathe and everything went dark.”

Faith looked from the empty vial to Willow. “Alright, what about you?”

Willow was gently rocking Tara back and forth, leaving soft kisses on her neck and shoulder. Keeping her eyes forward she recalled what had happened and shivered.

“Like Tara, I don’t know. I was in the Den of Woe in the middle of several bodies. They were all over the damn place! Lying on the floor. Hanging from the walls. Shot, stabbed, or throats cut or ripped out. A woman’s voice asked if I knew where I was. I answered: the Den of Woe. And asked what’d happened. The voice said: I did. Right before I was attacked. Just like Tara said the wounds were on my shoulder, bicep, stomach, and my throat was cut open.” Turning her head she stared into Faith’s eyes. “I could feel myself dieing in that cave as the voice laughed saying: ‘You can’t have her. The girl is mine, not yours.’ I tried to speak, but the only thing coming out of my mouth was blood.”

Faith closed her eyes and pushed the visions out of her mind. Buffy shivered remembering the blood covering both girls, and looked Willow over. Dried blood covered her body starting from her neck down to the top of her leather shorts.

Tara was in no better shape, the blood that had been on her had soaked through her white shirt turning it red. Faith stood clenching her fists as she began to pace around the room. Buffy watched her -trying to stay calm- knowing none of this was any good.

“Look. I don’t know what the hell is going on, but right now you both need to shower and get the blood off you.” Buffy said and gave a small smile. “Me and Faith will change your sheets while you shower, okay?”

“Yeah, sure.” Willow nodded nudging Tara to stand, and led her to the bathroom.

Once the door closed Tara latched on to Willow as tears ran down her cheeks, and buried her face in Willow’s neck. Willow held Tara and slowly rocked them from side to side, all the time kissing her neck. “I thought I’d lost you for good.”

“It’s okay baby.”

“How can you say that, Will!” Tara asked pulling back.

Willow smiled slightly and cupped Tara’s face and looked into blue eyes. “Because, I’m right here, and I’m not going anywhere.” She said and gently kissed Tara to prove her point. “I love you, Tara. And no one will ever take me from you. Now let’s get this get outta these cloths and shower, okay?”

Nodding Tara let a small grin spread across her face, as Willow began undressing her.

When the bathroom door closed Buffy stood and wrapped her arms around Faith to stop her pacing. “Love, calm down. We can’t get outta shape over this, we don’t know what’s going on.”

“I know, but it just pisses me off. I grew up with Tara, and nearly died when she became a Summoner. I just knew I…we all were going to lose her. And I’ll admit, I didn’t like Will at first, but as we journeyed I slowly began to grow attached to her. I started respecting her when she went after Glory. And now, she, just like Tara, is my sister. Now look, someone, or something, if fucking with them, and I don’t know how to help!”

“Don’t worry, we defeated Sin and without losing Tara. I’m sure we can beat whatever the hell is screwing with them, now.” Buffy said turning Faith around and kissing her. “Come on, I said we’d get them clean sheets.”

Willow moaned when Tara’s hands cupped and squeezed her breasts, as she slowly kissed her way down Willow’s stomach, and back up. Placing her hands on Tara’s hips she pulled her into her body, pressing their lips together.

Turning she pressed Tara up against the shower wall and grinned, kissing, licking and sucking her way down Tara’s neck. Bypassing Tara’s breasts altogether, she left soft kisses down her stomach and reached her goal.

Buffy dropped the pillow she was holding and squeezed her eyes shut as the room began to smell of blood. Faith turned and saw several bodies appear, lying on the floor, and backed up. She slipped in a pool of blood that had appeared under her feet and fell to the floor.

Buffy stifled a scream when a body appeared at her feet and helped Faith up. Both girls flew into the wall as an invisible force hit them. Hard. Groaning Faith stood keeping her eyes forward, as she helped Buffy to stand.

“What the fuck!” Faith shouted as she was thrown back across the room, and saw Buffy hit the bedroom door. The room was now exactly as it was when they had first entered, bodies and blood covering the floor and walls.

Tara had her hands buried in Willow’s wet hair with her eyes tightly shut, and her body tensed, as she was taken over the edge, and cried out Willow’s name, before sliding to her knees. The hot water splashed on Willow’s back as Tara rested her head on her shoulder, breathing heavily. “I love you, Will.”

The room went completely dark before exploding in a bright white light, causing both Faith and Buffy to shut their eyes. As the light began to die down a woman’s voice could be heard screaming in rage, the bodies, and blood was gone, leaving behind the scent of vanilla and cherries. Looking at one another both girls could see, even the blood on them had vanished, and sighed.

“Let’s uh, keep this to ourselves, okay?” Faith said standing.

“Sure, I don’t want to worry anyone about what just happened.” Buffy said sitting down on the bed with a groan. “But I’ll hurt like a bitch, tomorrow.”

“Yeah.” Faith nodded planting herself in a chair.

Five minutes later the bathroom door opened allowing two happier women to step into the room.

“Feelin’ better?” Buffy asked standing.

“Lots.” Willow grinned and squeezed Tara’s ass.

“I can see that.” Faith smirked causing Tara to blush, and grin.

The girls turned toward the door as Shinra ran into the room out of breath. “I’m sorry to interrupt, but Spira’s falling apart with the leaders of the groups missing.”

“Great! Just fucking great! What the hell do they want us to do?” Faith all but screamed.

“Don’t know, but the fighting between New Yevon and the Youth League has worsened.” Shinra said as he turned toward the door. “Tara? If you feel up to it, you should check out the video feeds… and maybe talk to some of the men and women.”

Tara nodded to the boy watching him run back to the bridge, and started out the door with Willow behind her.

“Let’s go see what those morons are doing now.” Buffy said sighing as she and Faith followed.

When they walked into the bridge they stopped short just inside the door. Dawn was yelling at someone on her screen. Shinra had papers all over his consol as he typed and shouted in Al Bhed to another person on his screen. Mizu was threatening a New Yevon man on her screen as he yelled at her.

“What the hell is going on?!” Buffy shouted causing everyone to shut up.

“New Yevon is saying it’s our fault that Baralai disappeared!” Mizu said, the turned back to the man cussing him out in Al Bhed -and flipping him off- before cutting the link.

“Dra Youth League ec kaddehk nayto du yddylg New Yevon!” (The Youth League is getting ready to attack New Yevon!) Dawn shouted as she turned toward her screen showing Yaibal.

“What!” Willow shouted and approached the screen. “You moron! What do you think you’re doing?”

Yaibal shook his head. “But we’ve had reports that they are gearing up to attack us! So, as you can see we didn’t start this, it was them! Now if you’ll excuse me. I have to get ready.” Yaibal said and cut the link.

Sighing she turned to Shinra and watched him cut the link with the Al Bhed camp in Bikanel. “Well? What’s up with them?”

“More diggers are dead.”

Mizu groaned when her consol beeped, hitting the button she sighed when she saw Xander on the other end. “Hey there, is everything going okay?”

“Yeah, it’s good here. Is Tara and Will around?”

“Right here Xander.” Willow said approaching the screen with Tara at her side. “What’s up?”

“Any more fiends?” Tara asked worriedly.

“Nope. It’s been pretty quiet. But Beclem is still runnin’ around griping about the temple.”

“He better not touch the temple!” Faith growled.

“Don’t worry he’s gonna be leaving soon. The Youth League wants him back. Good riddance, ya?”

“Got that right.” Willow sighed and grunted when Tara gently elbowed her stomach.

“Listen. Don’t worry about Besaid, me and Anya has everything under control.”

“Thanks Xander.” Tara smiled as the link was cut.

Mizu leaned back in her chair staring out the window. “Well, the three big shots are still missing. We’re getting blamed for Baralai; Vegnagun still running around somewhere, and New Yevon and the Youth League is fixing to start a war. And here I thought it was going to be a beautiful day.”

Willow shook her head. “Yeah, but, we know Tsuki is controlling Vegnagun.”

“I wonder if Nooj and the others are trying to destroy it…” Buffy trailed off with a sigh.

“Maybe, you never know.” Faith said sitting on the floor.

“Ooh! Nothing makes sense anymore.” Buffy sighed as she sat in Faith’s lap. “I mean just what in the hell are we suppose to do!”

“Nooj spoke to me on the Farplane. He said to take care of things topside. So, what can I do to help everyone calm down?”

“Dance!” Dawn shouted happily causing everyone to turn toward her.

“I don’t think seeing Tara dance will help.” Faith said then cocked her head to the right. “Well, I can’t speak for Will.” She grinned as both Willow and Tara blushed bright red.

“No! Like Leblanc did in Luca! Tara put on Concert!”

“Great idea, sis!” Buffy shouted jumping up and danced around the room. “We just gotta get Tobli’s help to spread the word! Set course for the Moonflow!”

Tara went from blushing bright red to horrified. “Don’t I get a say in this?!” she asked as Dawn started the ship.

“Come on, Tara! It’s a great idea. Look at all the people who was in Luca to see you!” Buffy giggled as Tara glared.

“Yeah, baby!” Willow laughed causing Tara to glare at her.

When the girls got off the ship they saw Tobli running toward the Moonflow entrance and followed, not seeing the three Al Bhed men chasing from behind. Reaching the bend near the Moonflow/Djose entrance Tobli flew by on a hover nearly running them over.

“What the hell!” Faith shouted from the bushes she had jumped into to avoid being hit.

The Al Bhed men had also jumped into the bushes and cursed as they stepped back on to the road, instead of chasing after Tobli they headed toward the girls. Willow hid her grin as they passed by; shaking her head she led the way back to Tobli’s camp.

“Hi, hi, what can I do for you?” Tobli asked when he saw the girls.

Buffy excitedly told him what she had planned causing him to jump up and down right along with her, with a smile on his face. Tara was hiding her face in Willow’s shoulder hoping to get out of what Buffy had planned. Willow and Faith quietly laughed as she groaned.

“So? What do you think?” Buffy asked the excited man.

“Spectacularly spectacular! ‘Twill be a yummy Tarapalooza indeed!” Tobli shouted causing Tara to give a horrified groan, and Willow to burst out laughing. “I most definitely, definitely want to arrange it! Can I, can I?”

“Yup-yup!” Buffy giggled.

“So, where should it be?”

“There has to be enough room for everyone to gather.” Faith said grinning.

“Aha! How ‘bout the Thunder Plains? Yes! You could practically pack a plethora of people in that place!”

Willow squeezed Tara and grinned, “Now, how do we get people to come?”

“Leave that to me!” Tobli said pressing a button and waited for a moment before fifty Hypello walked over.

Dawn sat the ship down near the camp and waited as Tobli and the Hypello to board. She sat down in Besaid, then Kilika, then Luca, and Mi’ihen. From there she sat down in Mushroom Rock Road, then close to Bevelle, then on to the Calm Lands. With the last of the Hypello deployed and telling everyone of the concert, she sat the ship down in the middle of the Thunder Plains and let the girls off.

Hurrying toward the Al Bhed shop they watched as Dawn headed off to start picking up the concertgoers, and headed into the shop. From the windows they would see the ship drop people off every thirty minutes. They received a transmission two and a half hours later, and headed back to the ship to get ready.

“What are you gonna sing?” Buffy asked fifteen minutes later as they headed toward the bridge.

Tara stopped and closed her eyes, as she began to hum, opening her eyes she saw the others staring at her. “What?”

“Whoa! Did you write that?” Faith asked surprised.

“No, its like… I’m feeling it deep down inside. I can sort of hear it echoing inside me.”

“Must be Lenne.” Willow said glancing at Tara

“That’s what I think. Though I don’t know much about her… I’m learning more and more. Bits and pieces of her memories keep pouring in. And it’s like I can feel what she was feeling.”

“Thus shall Lenne’s scattered thoughts be woven into bittersweet song… Something like that?” Buffy asked smiling.

“That was poetic.” Tara said causing Buffy to giggle.

“Hurry, the people are starting to argue, and fighting won’t be far behind!” Dawn said when they entered the bridge.

“I’ll bring it up on the consol.” Shinra said pressing a couple of buttons.

When the screen rose up it showed the New Yevon group and the Youth League fighting. Some were pushing the others around, only to be pushed from behind by another man or woman.

“Well, shit!” Buffy stomped her foot. “Can’t they just stop for ten minutes?”

“I’ll bring up the audio.” Shinra pushed another button and the bridge was assaulted with the sounds of arguing, and shouting.

[Outside the ship]

“I can’t believe the damn Yevonites are here, too!” A young Youth League woman said glaring at the New Yevon members. “How am I supposed to enjoy Lady Tara’s concert with them here?”

“Ha! You Youth League dogs will never be worthy of hearing the High Summoner sing!” An older Yevon priest shouted.

“If the praetor were here, he’d never let these maggots walk around, spouting their nonsense!” Another priest said.

“And if Nooj were here, he’d have already sent you Yevonites to the Farplane!” A young man said and hit the priest.

[End]

“Don’t they ever stop?” Tara asked watching the two men fight.

“Really!” Buffy groaned as two more men joined in the fight.

“Well, what do you think?” Willow asked and winced, as a Thunder spell hit two of the men.

“I think its time to stop the fighting!” Tara said and turned toward the door.

“Let’s go!” Faith said and led the way to the top of the ship.

[Somewhere inside a deep dark cavern.]

“But My Lord!” Shouted an unsent solider.

“No! You will listen to me, and I say it is not yet time! Do you understand?” An old man with a black leather suit said dangerously, as he sit on a throne made of skulls.

Sighing the solider nodded. “Yes, My Lord. I understand, but I am just worried about you. If you do not get the new li…” before he knew it the solider was being held up by hit throat.

“I told you! Don’t worry about it; I know what I am doing! I have been around a lot longer than you, boy! Now shut it, or I’ll send you to the Farplane myself!” The old man growled and threw the solider across the room, and glared at the other unsent in the room. “That goes for all of you also! Understand!”

The unsent nodded and spoke ‘Yes, My Lord’ in unison as the man sat back on the throne.

A priest stepped into the room and took a look around. “My Lord.” He bowed. “All you have to do is say the word.” The priest said rising.

“Good, I will tell you when it is time to get what I need. Until then, do not worry about it.” He said with an evil grin and leaned his head back and laughed.

The priest and the unsent smiled evilly as they watched the old man knowing that the time was nearing, and was ready for it.

Tarapalooza*snickers*. Yet another great update. So is what they're experiencing (the violent bits) a part of another (alternate) life/realm, blending in with theirs? Anyway, you were right about this update not revealing much, but I look forward to reading more.

Well I got a theory about this whole mess... but I won't say it in case I'm creating a whole new fic that had nothing to do with this one :blush :D it's just sometimes my imagination keeps going without my consent. Anyway...

I liked this chapter and chapter 25 a lot because they had a little of everything in them, you had me going from one emotion to another in matter of seconds. The idea of a Tarapalooza without Tara's consent had me in a fit of giggles. The gore scene had me shuddering and worse having Willow sliced, bloody and almost killed and Tara seeing it helpless without knowing what the hell it's happening; and then the sex scene between Tara and Willow that had as consequence *I assumed * that Buffy and Faith got another glimpse first hand of the gore scene that Willow and Tara had before, only not as bad (meaning that none of them got hurt beyond getting hit). And a lot of other things that i don't want to bore you with for now. ;)

Love your work, I'm not gonna get tired of saying it over and over again, I only hope that I don't get you tired. :p

More soon, please?

This is real good...you do know that we will probably expect another sequel or something slightly different after this right? :p

I know i haven't been leaving feedback, i've just caught up this weeks updates after coming home from uni. I love this fic.

Chapter 27

Postby Stormforce » Sat Sep 25, 2004 8:22 pm

Onyxsundrops - What the girls are experiencing will be explained in the next chapter, and I can say that it's not an alternate realm... I can't really explain what's going on without spoiling chapter 28. Sorry. :) But this chapter does tell exactly who Lenne is... if that helps any... :D

Egnalos - I would ask what your theory is, but... you might be correct, and I would have to find a way to keep from saying it's right...so, I just won't ask. You weren't boring me, I like to hear...read... how the fic makes the readers feel. That way I'll know to either get better at it, or tone it down a little. And you are right, the sex scene does have a consequence, and that'll be in the next chapter. And nope, I won't get tired of hearing you say you like my fics. ;)

Robotguru - Hey how ya been? Another sequel? Hmm. Final Fantasy X-3? Okay, if everyone wants another sequel, I'll write one. Or something slightly different, I think I might have an idea for that. :D And don't worry about the replies, I know how it is when you haven't got enough time.

Chapter Twenty-Seven: The Concert

The girls had run into Tobli at the top of the stairs and smiled when he wished them luck, and proceeded to the outside. Shinra had hooked up a fifty-foot by fifty-foot tall sphere screen to broadcast the concert for the people in the back. As the girls stepped outside they could hear the fighting on the ground and sighed. Turning toward the others Tara smiled and nodded.

“On with the show!” she said and walked out into the center of the ship’s deck with the others standing behind her. “Ready?”

“Let’s do it!” Willow, Buffy and Faith shouted as they hit the power buttons for the microphones, and waited.

They watched as Tara’s clothes changed into the outfit Lenne wore as she walked to the edge of the deck, and raised the microphone to her lips and began to speak softly. The men and women stopped fighting and listened to what she had to say.

“One thousand years ago, before the time of Sin… Spira was torn in two, divided by a terrible war. This was Spira’s one great mistake. Because out of the rift left by this terrible conflict, Sin was born. Now, in only two short years, Spira has shaken off its unhappy past. We have moved on. And Spira grows brighter with each passing day. That light is our strength, and I don’t want to see it fade. Do you? There are so many of us, each with different ideas and different beliefs. Of course we sometimes disagree, and arguments will happen. But our hearts can and should always be on.” Tara said as a light began to surround her and she spoke with another soft voice overlapping hers. “Believe with me: Even if we’re torn apart, our feelings will unite us. That is what this song is about.”

I know that you’re hiding things

Using gentle words to shelter me

Your words were like a dream

But dreams could never fool me

Not that easily

As she sang the first verse to the song the sphere screen lit up with a bright white light, showing Tsuki and Lenne at the front of the Zanarkand dome. The spectators watched as the image the once great city appeared all around the Thunder Plains, and passed through them.

I acted so distant then

Didn’t say goodbye before you left

But I was listening

You’ll fight your battles far from me

Far too easily

The scene changed from Zanarkand to the Bevelle under ground, where Tsuki stood in front of Vegnagun looking up at the giant machina. She shook her head and started climbing to the top.

”Save your tears cause I’ll come back”

I could you that you whispered as you walked though that door

But still I swore

To hide the pain when I turn back the pages

Shouting might have been the answer

What if I’d cried my eyes out and begged you not to depart

But now I’m not afraid to say what’s in my heart

Tsuki was now playing the giant organ built into Vegnagun’s head. With each note she played a bar would light up with a different color. Her eyes widened and she turned to look down on the walkway.

The New Yevon and Youth League were glancing at one another, before they looked to the ground as tears burned their eyes.

Though a thousand words

Have never been spoken

They’ll fly to you

Crossing over the time and distance holding you

Suspended on silver wings

And a thousand words

One thousand confessions

Will cradle you

Making all of the pain you feel seem far away

They’ll hold you forever

Tara closed her eyes as a bright light surrounded her. Willow looked from the screen to Tara and gaped as she hit Faith and Buffy to get their attention. Turning both girls jaws hit the ground as they watched the light die down. Lenne had appeared and was standing back to back with Tara and began to sing along.

The dream isn’t over yet

Though I often say I can’t forget

I still relive that day

“You’ve been with me all the way”

I still hear you say

Lenne was standing in front of Vegnagun with her arms stretched out to the sides speaking to Tsuki as she look down from the top. Jumping down she landed in front of Lenne and embraced her; pulling back she took Lenne’s hand and ran for the exit. Seven guards stepped out in front of them aiming their guns. Tsuki stopped and turned pulling Lenne with her, back toward Vegnagun’s chamber.

She stopped in front of Vegnagun and turned toward Lenne with a sad smile. Leaning down she placed a gentle kiss on Lenne’s lips and pulled back as the guards entered the room. Lenne grabbed Tsuki in a hug as the both looked at the guards.

Their bodies jerked as the bullets hit, Tsuki twisted and fell face down as blood pooled around her body. Lenne had fell on her back and slowly turned her head, only to find Tsuki had died instantly. A tear fell to the floor as Lenne closed her eyes taking one last breath before she, too, died.

Oh a thousand words call out through the ages

They’ll fly to you

Even though we can’t see I know they’re reaching you

Suspended on silver wings

Lenne disappeared as Tara fell to her knees crying. Willow, Buffy, and Faith ran over to her, and were as surprised as the spectators. The thunder and lightning stopped as the clouds cleared, and the sun shined down on everyone. Willow gently picked Tara up and carried her into the ship and back to their room.

“Baby?” Willow asked worriedly as she wrapped her arms around Tara’s shaking frame.

“I’m all right…” Tara sobbed quietly. “Really I’m fine now. It’s passed.” She said wiping the tears from her eyes.

“What did Shinra say?” Faith asked when Buffy walked into the room.

Buffy sighed and sat down beside Faith. “He said it might be some kind of interference with the sphere waves. The sphere Tara has on her and the sphere screen reacted with each other and… The consciousness burned into the sphere was projected onto the screen!”

“Yes, but that still doesn’t explain why it happened.” Willow said rubbing circles on Tara’s back.

“When I asked about that, he said, ‘I’m only a kid.’”

“It’s Lenne.” Tara said looking at the floor. “I was singing her feelings. As I sang I could feel them welling up inside until they just… burst.”

“Okay. So, the two women on the screen were Lenne and Tsuki?” Faith asked confused.

Tara nodded as Dawn stepped into the room. “Someone wants to talk to you.”

Nodding Tara stood and followed with Willow at her side, and Buffy and Faith behind her. Willow let out a sigh of relief when she saw Maechen standing in the middle of the bridge smiling at them.

“T’was a magnificent melody, Lady Tara. The onlookers were all quite enchanted.” Maechen said and shook Tara’s hand for a second time.

“If it brings the people of Spira together-even just a little-then I’m glad.”

“Indeed, I believe it shall. As you sang, not a soul could help be realize the folly of their tiresome squabbling. The fists once raised in anger became welcoming hands offering solace to a tearful neighbor. I must admit that I, too, shed my share of tear the moment Lenne appeared.”

“You know Lenne?” Buffy asked surprised.

“Of course. Would you like to hear…”

“Yes! Please tell us!” Tara said cutting him off.

“About a thousand years ago, Lenne was a popular songstress in Zanarkand. The talk of the town, you might say. In a more peaceful age, she might have lived out her years as a performer. But the times-and her talents-did not allow such a thing to be. You see, Lenne’s gift for singing was matched by her genius in the Summoner’s arts. When the Machina Was began, all Summoners were sent to the front lines. Zanarkand was hopelessly outnumbered, and Lenne knew she would not return home alive. Nonetheless, she was prepared to lay down her life to protect her people. Yet there was one person who refused to let Lenne die. Yes, she would do anything to save her. She was…a young woman, Lenne’s lover.”

“Tsuki?” Faith asked quietly.

“I…don’t know. Her name was lost so long ago. But whatever her name, the youth endeavored to steal the enemy’s machina weapon and save Lenne. However…”

“It didn’t go well.” Tara hung her head as Willow wrapped her arms around her waist.

“The lovers met a truly tragic end. Those images we all witnessed are most certainly a record of their last moments. I am sorry but I must be going… but I have a request. Would you please meet me at the Zanarkand ruins later?”

“Yes, but why?” Tara asked confused as she leaned into Willow.

Maechen sighed. “I will explain then.” He said and walked out the bridge door.

“So Tsuki was Lenne’s lover.” Faith said and sat down.

“And that means that the weapon that she tried to steal to save her must have been…” Buffy trailed off and looked into Willow’s eyes as she remembered what they had went through.

“Vegnagun, right?” Tara asked not noticing what was passing between Buffy and Willow.

“I think we can kinda understand how she felt, right Will? Trying so hard to save someone.” Buffy said as she looked to the floor with a sigh. “Two years ago, me and Will, we were the same. Trying to find a way… any way to save you.”

Tara stepped out of Willow’s arms and pulled her and Buffy into a hug. “And that was enough. Just knowing you both were there, by my side… I’ll always be grateful to you both.” She said and kissed Buffy’s cheek, before gently kissing Willow’s lips.

“You know, maybe Lenne felt the same way.” Faith stood up “The woman she loved, she struggled to save her. She fought till her very last breath for her. I think that Lenne’s final words might have been happy ones: ‘I love you.’”

Tara nodded. “There is a connection… but wait. Everything is all wrong! She never heard. The one person she wanted to tell… and she never heard her words.” She said as the alarm went off and Mizu sighed.

“Leblanc wants to see Tara. I’ll have them wait in the engine room.” Mizu said and relayed the message.

“I still don’t trust her… or Logos, he murdered a man in cold blood!” Willow said as the girls stepped on to the elevator.

“Just stay calm. Don’t let him know you know, and leave it at that.” Faith said keeping her spear close to her body.

“I’ve been hunting around since we last met,” Leblanc said as the girls entered the room. “and I happened to find a rather peculiar sphere. It shows my Noojie-Woojie! And for some reason, that chump Baralai is there, too. But isn’t from some years ago. I’m afraid it’s not much help now, loves.” She handed Tara the sphere as Buffy eyed it and began to think. “So, how about you? Have you tracked down my Noojie yet?”

“I saw him and Gippal on the Farplane.” Tara said handing the sphere to Buffy.

“The Farplane!? What’s he doing in a place like that!?”

“I think they are searching for Baralai and Vegnagun.”

“I should have known that Baralai was the one controlling Vegnagun!”

“No, no. That’s not it…how do I explain…”

“Forget about that! I don’t have the time for this! Boys, we’re going to the Farplane!”

“Anything but that, boss!” Ormi whined.

Logos shook his head and looked down. “We’re no match for that sort of an opponent!”

“Don’t be silly! The power of love conquers all! It’s decided; we’re going to save Spira! Tara, you and your troupe meet us there!” Leblanc said and ran out of the room with Ormi and Logos following.

“Just who the hell does she think she is? Giving orders like that!” Willow growled as the engine room door shut.

“We can’t run down there yet… we have to talk to Maechen before we go.” Faith said curious as to what the man wanted.

“And we have all the spheres to get inside that room Nooj wanted the spheres to.” Buffy said holding up the sphere Leblanc gave them.

“Okay, let’s go talk to Maechen, and then go to Mushroom Rock Road.” Tara said not seeing Willow shiver at the mention of the sealed cave.

Ok then I won't say anything about my theory; I'm probably wrong anyway, so I'll save myself from embarrassment.

The story about Lenne and Tsuki was sad, and I have to say that, to me, made things a little bit clearer about some stuffs; so I'm waiting eagerly for chapter 28 to see what happens next.

And I read something about a sequel? I hope you do one, I really, really do; if not maybe another story? please? or both hehe :p :D whatever you want. I know I'll love to read more of your stories.

Chapter 28

Postby Stormforce » Mon Sep 27, 2004 12:38 am

Egnalos - You never know, your theroy maybe right. ;) *Thinking* I would love to hear what it is, but if you did tell me, I wouldn't say if it's right or wrong. :D Anyway. I'm glad somethings are becoming a little clearer, and this chapter should clear up a few more things. I have a few things in mind for another sequel, and a different story...actually to tell the truth, I have a 'Prologue' started on another story. Now all I have to do is get the sequel started. ;)

[Note: Remember when Maechen was acting all weird way back when? Well this chapter tells excatly why he was acting that way. This also explains what was going on in Willow and Tara's bedroom.]

Disclaimer: Willow and Tara are still staying with me. But they'll be back in their place when I'm finished. :D

Chapter Twenty-Eight: Maechen and the Den of Woe

Dawn sat the airship down near the Zanarkand ruins, and kept a close eye on the ocean, ready to fly if she saw one of those fiends surface. Willow and Faith were the first ones off and looked around, seeing no fiends they motioned for Tara and Buffy to follow. Maechen was standing near the path to Gagazet and smiled as the girls approached him.

“Thank you for meeting me here, Lady Tara.”

“Not a problem. So, what was it you needed?”

Maechen looked up at the darkening sky and nodded to himself. “Would you like to hear about Vegnagun?”

“Yes, please.”

“Vegnagun was constructed during the Machina War, but there is no record of it ever being used. One could argue that the coming of Sin made war a secondary concern. But the real reason was that Vegnagun was nothing short of a titanic failure. You see, it was quick to respond to hostility but lacked the ability to discern friend from foe. A weapon that slaughtered indiscriminately would be far too dangerous for actual use in combat. And that was why Vegnagun was never considered as a measure to fight Sin. So, it was locked away and hidden under Bevelle.”

“Damn gramps! You really know a lot!” Buffy said surprised.

Faith looked the man over for a moment. “Where’d you learn all that?”

“Hmm… That would be…”

“That would be?” Willow asked when he trailed off.

“Well… this should explain things.” Maechen said as souls surrounded his body and he turned transparent.

Tara gasped as the others jumped, “Gramps! You’re dead?” Buffy asked.

“Mortifying isn’t it? Over the years I managed to completely forget that I am unsent. It was only when I shook your hand, Lady Tara, that I remembered.”

“Huh? Why?” Tara asked confused.

“One thousand years ago here in Zanarkand I shook the hand of another young lady.”

“One thousand years… you’re the one on the spheres! I knew I’d heard that voice before, it’s yours!” Willow said to the man and got a nod in response.

“It was Lenne.” Tara said in understanding.

“Correct. It was quite a strange feeling shaking your hand two different people from two distant times with exactly the same handshake.”

“A thousand years… you’ve met a lot of people then.” Buffy said relaxing and leaned against a boulder.

“Yes, child, I have. Many meetings, and just as many partings. The many people I have known have all journeyed to the Farplane, leaving only me behind it is quite lonely.” Maechen said as a bright light appeared.

“Gramps?” Buffy asked as a memory of Mythe, Ira, and Giles appeared.

“Mother!” Tara shouted surprised when she turned.

“Do forgive me. My memories seem to have a mind of their own.” Maechen said as he disappeared.

“Thank you, Maechen. I hope we meet again.” Tara smiled.

“As do I.” He said as the memory vanished and the girls walked back to the ship.

With the cargo door closed Dawn raised the ship into the air and flew over Gagazet toward the Calm Lands, and waited for the girls. She turned in her seat when the door opened,

“Where now?” she asked.

“Mushroom Rock Road.” Faith said leaning against the wall as the ship shot forward.

“You know I don’t like this, right?” Willow sat down and rubbed her hands over her face.

“I know, sweetie, but we need to see what’s in that cave.” Tara said sitting in the chair next to her. “And if there isn’t anything there, we leave as quick as possible, okay?”

“Yeah.” Willow nodded, “I’ll be right back.” She said standing and headed for her and Tara’s room.

When she stepped inside the room, Willow felt her stomach cramp up as a wave of pain washed over her body. “What…the…hell…” she muttered holding her stomach as she fell to her knees. The pain intensified when she tried to stand. The calves of her legs began to cramp at the same time as her biceps. Gritting her teeth against the pain, Willow stood and stumbled over to the bed. Her head began to pound as visions flashed in front of her eyes. Visions of death.

[Flash]

Faith was fighting against something unseen as blood ran down her face from a wound on her forehead. She back flipped swinging her spear around, and screamed in pain as a new wound opened on her stomach. Holding the wound with her left hand, she swung her spear with her right, and smiled as blood appeared out of thin air. The last thing she saw was a sword blade protruding from her chest as she fell to the floor dead.

[End]

Willow grabbed her head as it began to throb worse.

[Flash]

She saw a topless Buffy strapped to a wall with a look of pain on her face, as a man cut into her flesh with a dagger. He cut a two-inch wound at the top of each of her breasts, and then on the underside of her breasts. A woman appeared holding a cup under the wounds letting the blood fill the cup. Once the cup was full the man sliced Buffy’s throat open, and grinned when she died.

[End]

Willow groaned in pain as another vision assaulted her.

[Flash]

Willow saw herself in chains hanging from the ceiling screaming in pain as a whip was brought down across her back. She screamed again as her chest was cut open allowing a cup to fill with blood. The cup was taken away as the man who’d killed Buffy stepped in front of her holding a blood-covered dagger. The man raised his hand up and brought it down, burring the dagger in her chest, and laughed as a scream echoed across the room.

[End]

Her head pounded worse than before as another vision came to her, and grit her teeth as her nose began to bleed.

[Flash]

Tara was topless and strapped to a black alter fighting against the restraints, and screamed with tears filling her eyes. Her blond hair was now red from the blood seeping from the wounds on her forehead and cheek. A bloody dagger appeared in front of her face, as she tried to kick the holder. The man pressed the dagger to her throat, and softly trailed it down her body, in between her breasts and stopped at her stomach. She cried out in pain as her stomach was cut open.

[End]

Sweat was running down Willow’s face as the vision ended and she let out a painful yet terrified sob. With her body relaxing she fell back on the bed breathing heavily, and stared at the ceiling. Slowly wiping the blood from her face she sat up and looked around.

The clock told her that only five minutes had passed causing her to sigh. Standing up she walked into the bathroom and washed the sweat and blood from her face, and slowly headed back to the bridge.

When she reached the bridge she picked Tara up and sat down placing Tara on her lap, and wrapped her arms around her waist. Faith saw the look on Willow’s face, but pushed it aside thinking it was because of the Den of Woe. A small sad smile crossed Willow’s face when Tara snuggled up to her and laid her head on her shoulder.

Willow was shaken out of her thoughts when Tara moved to stand, knowing they were close to the Den of Woe she sighed. Standing up she pushed those thoughts away, took Tara’s hand, and followed Faith and Buffy outside. They stood and watched as the ship rose into the air to wait at the entrance for their return.

Following the same path as before they made it to the cave and to the sealed door. Taking five spheres from her pouch, Buffy placed them into the slots. Faith took the other five she was carrying and placed them into the slots. Willow was gripping her sword with her right hand and holding Tara’s hand with her left.

With the ten spheres in place the seal was broken and the door slid up revealing the dark cave. Following the path proved to be difficult with the purple fog rising from the walls, and the floor. After stumbling in the thick fog several times Buffy cursed as she stopped to peer into the fog, and took a step back.

“Something’s coming!” she said as Nooj, Baralai, and Gippal appeared.

“What’re you doing here?” Willow asked and watched as all three disappeared.

“What the hell!?” Faith said confused

“Are they… unsent? No. That can’t be.” Buffy shook her head.

Tara looked around the cave. “It’s the pyreflies! Remember in the Zanarkand dome it happed there too.”

Willow nodded. “That must have been their memories from then… Or maybe a two-year-old nightmare?”

“You!” Faith growled as Tsuki appeared.

“Older than that.” She said to Willow and grinned. “I wanted to rest forever, but those damn pyreflies make me relive that moment… Time after time!” Tsuki said disappearing -taking Willow with her- and leaving behind three horrified women.

[Another part of the cave]

When Willow appeared she fell on the hard ground with a thud, and groaned as a rusted sword blade punctured her left shoulder. Standing she pulled the blade free, throwing it to the ground, and slowly turning in a circle. The room she was in -like the rest of the cave- had thick fog, but was black instead of purple.

Drawing her sword with her right hand she stepped forward, only to trip and land back on the ground. Turning over she could barely make out the remains of a long dead solider, and stood up with wide eyes as the fog cleared.

Once she could see the room clearly, she began wishing they had never come into that cave. There were more bodies than she could count, more than what was left from the Crimson Squad. Willow saw a pile of skulls in the corner, as tall as she was; skeletal remains littered the rest of the floor. She couldn’t see the cave walls due to more skeletal remains with large jagged rocks protruding from the ribcage. Taking a step back she winced hearing bones break under her left foot.

“Like my collection?” Tsuki asked appearing fifteen-foot away. “You’re going to be added to it.”

“You’re the one…you’re the one from my dream! Why’d you bring me here? And just why in the hell did you attack me!?” Willow asked raising her sword. “What have I ever done to you?”

Smirking Tsuki kicked one of the skulls sending it flying toward Willow, the skull flew beside Willow’s head and shattered against the far wall.

“Don’t you know, guardian? Alright then I’ll tell you. The Summoner is mine, not yours. She is my lover, not yours. And I will do anything to keep it that way!” Tsuki growled jumping at Willow, as a sword appeared in her hand.

Willow blocked the attack that would have severed her head, and twisted her body to stand behind the unsent. Quickly bringing her sword down Willow screamed in anger as it went straight through, not leaving a scratch on Tsuki.

“That won’t work! Not here anyway!” Tsuki laughed bringing her own sword around, slicing Willow’s right shoulder open. As Willow staggered back Tsuki turned in a full circle, catching Willow’s stomach with her blade, bending her knees she kicked Willow to the ground. Standing and looking down on the one time guardian, she grinned.

“I tried to stop you from touching her, in that room on that fucking flying machina! I tried to kill the two guardians you left in that room, and get you away from her. But something was blocking me from killing them, and there was a barrier around the bathroom. Why’d you touch her? She is mine!”

“Tara is my wife! Not yours!” Willow growled trying to rise, only to be kicked in the head with enough force to knock her back down.

“Guardian, you should have NEVER touched her! And now. You. Are. Dead.” Tsuki growled as her eyes glowed bright red and thrust her sword into Willow’s chest straight through her heart. With her last breath Willow screamed. Her scream echoed, and reechoed throughout the whole cave, as the unsent laughed and vanished.

[Front of the cave]

Once Tsuki had disappeared the purple fog had lifted allowing the girls to get a good look around. The walls were stained with blood, and a large boulder blocked the path leading deeper into the cave. The three girls were trying to push the boulder away when Willow’s scream echoed up to them. Tara’s scream soon joined Willow’s as she felt her bond with Willow weaken, and fell to the blood stained ground, as Tsuki appeared.

“You are next.” Tsuki calmly said stepping into Buffy’s body.

“No! Noooo!!” Buffy screamed, as Tsuki possessed her.

“Buffy!” Faith shouted and watched Buffy pull her daggers and get into a fighting stance.

Tsuki appeared beside Faith and laughed when she tried to strike her. “Like I told the other one, that won’t work!” Tsuki said and possessed Faith.

“Go away!” Buffy screamed and lunged at Tara.

Tara rolled to the right and stood as Buffy slammed into the wall with enough force to knock the wind from her. Turning she saw Faith had readied her spear to attack, and jumped back just missing getting her throat cut. When Faith jumped toward her, Tara twisted and hit the back her Faith’s head with the butt of her pistol.

“What’s going on?” Tara asked stepping back again and felt Tsuki appear beside her.

“You will see.” Tsuki said waving her hand in front of Tara’s face.

[Flash]

Tsuki is sitting on top of Vegnagun’s head playing the organ, making different bars light up, activating the giant machina. Her eyes widened when she heard footsteps, turning she saw Lenne standing in front of Vegnagun with her arms spread out to the sides.

“You must stop! That is enough!” Lenne shouted and watched as Tsuki jumped down. Soon they found themselves surrounded by Bevelle guards.

[End]

Tara pulled her pistols and aimed them at Tsuki. “Stay back!”

“This is our story, Lenne.”

“I won’t say this again! I’m. Not. Lenne! Now where’s Willow?”

“The guardian? She’s dead, I killed her myself.”

“No!” Tara shouted firing and hitting Tsuki in the chest with Holy infused rounds.

Staggering back Tsuki fell to the ground in shock. “How? How can you hurt me?” She asked covering the wounds as she disappeared.

Once Tsuki was gone both Buffy and Faith shook their heads and looked around, before running to Tara.

“You okay?” Buffy asked as Faith checked her for wounds.

“Yes, now let’s get that damn rock out of the way, and get to Will!”

Nodding Buffy searched through her pouch and pulled out three Pineapple mixes, and threw them at the boulder. A hole opened in the wall allowing all three to sprint through, halfway down the path they came to a four-way intersection, with several other halls leading off from them.

“The hell! Now what!?” Faith asked worriedly. “If we don’t get to Will soon, a Phoenix Down won’t help!”

The girls jumped back as a light began to appear, and sighed when Ira appeared. “Go right, take the fifth hall to the left, and follow it to the end, destroy the rock blocking the room, my daughter is there. Hurry! You don’t have much time left!” he said before disappearing.

Tara thought as they raced down the right hall.

[Willow]

After Tsuki had disappeared Mythe, Giles, and Valefor had appeared surrounding Willow’s body, chanting. Mythe glowed white, Giles glowed red, and Valefor glowed blue, their energies surrounded and entered Willow, not allowing her to become a fiend, and helping to keep her somewhat alive. Knowing that was all they could do, they waited, and hoped that the others could take care of Tsuki.

“They will be here soon.” Ira said as he appeared and added his own gray energy.

“Good, I don’t know how long Tsuki can be held.” Mythe said, as Carbuncle appeared looking worried.

“Tsuki is fighting against the bonds,” Looking down at the still body the little girl sighed. “if they don’t hurry, she’ll become a fiend in no time.” She said adding her pink energy into the mix.

“We know.” Giles said and cursed. “How’d she get the power to cast a spell powerful enough to cause the newly dead to turn to fiends within a few minutes?”

“Remember, Giles, she’s had a thousand years to gather power. Besides she can feed off the energy released at death.” Valefor said and smiled when the wall exploded.

Phoenix Down in hand Tara rushed over, passing through Giles’ transparent body, kneeled down and raised Willow’s head, to pour the liquid in her mouth. Tara began glowing white as she cast a Curaga spell healing the still visible wound on Willow’s chest.

“You must hurry and leave!” Carbuncle said with wide eyes.

“The other Aeons cannot hold her much longer.” Valefor said and vanished with Carbuncle.

“Thank you, mother, everyone.” Tara said watching them disappear.

Faith bent down, picked up Willow, and turned. “Come on, I don’t wanna be around when that bitch gets back!”

With Faith carrying Willow, they retraced their steps back to the main room, and to the seal. Handing Willow over to Tara, Faith and Buffy went about taking the spheres from the door, and watched as it sealed again. Once outside they met the airship halfway and hurriedly boarded.

Willow groaned and opened her eyes only to see three worried faces staring down at her, and sat up. Glancing around she found herself back in her and Tara’s bedroom, and sighed. “What happened?”

“Tsuki.” Faith growled.

“Nevermind. I remember.”

“I’m going to go out on a limb and say: Tsuki is no ordinary unsent.” Buffy said as she sat back.

“Seems that way. Are you guys okay?” Willow asked worriedly.

“We’re fine. But you…if it weren’t for…you’d be dead.” Tara said holding on to, and not letting go of Willow.

“I know, I could feel them, and I’m thankful they were there.”

“All of us are. What happened?” Faith asked feeling fatigue creeping up on her.

“She said: ‘The Summoner is mine. She is my lover.’ Tara, baby, when did you ever date that bitch? She’s worse than Glory!” Willow said trying to lighten the mood.

“Shut up, Will!” Tara laughed through her tears.

“Anyway, what’d ya find out?”

“Truthfully, nothing. All I can figure out is: her feelings must have intertwined with a bunch of pyreflies when she died.” Faith said watching the sun begin to set.

“She must’ve had some serious regrets for her feelings to act on their own like that.” Buffy said and shivered.

“She’s the one who destroyed the Crimson Squad. And remember when our room looked like Djose Shore after Sin attacked? She caused that.”

“What do you mean?” Tara asked pulling from Willow just a little.

“She said she was trying to keep me away from you. She also said she tried to kill the two guardians we left in here.” Willow said looking from Buffy to Faith. “What did she mean?”

Buffy kept her eyes on the floor, as she remembered what had happened. Faith was still staring out the window, and shook her head.

“While you were showering everything went back to as it was when we came in. We got tossed around the room, then everything was calm and the room went back to normal.”

“Why didn’t you tell us?” Tara asked surprised.

“We didn’t want to worry you.” Buffy whispered.

“But…”

“No, Tara. Look it’s been one hellva day, lets just go to bed and get some sleep okay?” Faith stood taking Buffy’s hand and left the room.

Well that's 28 and 29 will be out tomorrow. :)

I got two updates! (But I am slow, so...) It, to me, seems like everyone is keeping some sort of secret about what's going on (withholding important info). But I'm slow, like I said, so...

Well there's no fun if I tell my theory and you can't say if I'm right or wrong *pout* so I won't tell :D (for now). Besides reading this chapter I realised that there's a hole in my theory, because I forgot about those guys, or should I say guy, at the end of chapter 26, and reading about the flashes that Willow had about their deaths (where they were killed by a man with a robe), kinda made me remember about them/him, so I have to fix some stuffs to make them fit hehe :p . By the way those flashes were very graphic (to me anyway), with them getting sliced, and the whole filling cups with their blood... :sheep

So you're really going to write a sequel? Yes, yes, yes!!! :bounce :bounce :bounce and you have another story already started!! thank you!! :applause :applause :applause

Oh my! I just realised that it's really late and I have classes early tomorrow or well mmmhh... today so... going to bed now :yawn

Great update, waiting for the next, going to sleep now bye.

Chapter 29

Postby Stormforce » Tue Sep 28, 2004 3:06 am

Onyxsundrops - Actually you're right. Everyone is keeping, or was keeping something from everyone. Right now, I'm hoping it's only Willow that's keeping the visions a secret...have I forgotten someone? Maybe I should start re-reading it and making sure. :D

Egnalos - True, there's no fun in telling, if I won't say if it's right or wrong. But I can't wait to hear it ;) Ah, so you forgot about that guy huh? I almost did...and I'm writing it! :sigh ... I'm sorry if the visions were bit too graphic...me thinks I got a bit outta control while writing them. Yep, I'm really going to be starting a sequel, I have a few ideas. Right now I'm thinking them over, and trying to figure out the best way to go with them. And I'm on the third chapter of another story I've just gotta...check it over, and make sure it looks good.

Note: This is a pretty tame chapter. Only one small violence scene. Let's just say its sort of the beginning to the visions from the last chapter. This chapter also explains why the machina on the Mi'ihen Highroad went haywire.

Chapter Twenty-Nine: A New Edition To The Family

The next morning both Willow and Tara were startled -as they got dressed- by a scream, running out of the room they met up with Buffy and Faith. Entering the bridge they found Dawn happily jumping up and down, tightly hugging Mizu who at that moment looked out of breath. Pulling out of Dawn’s grip she stumbled to her seat and took a deep breath before sighing.

“What’s going on?” Buffy asked through a yawn and was pulled into a hug by Dawn.

“She’s happy. Xander just called. Anya’s had her baby.”

“Really!?” Buffy asked excitedly and pushed Dawn into the pilot’s seat. “Hurry! Let’s go see them!”

Dawn nodded and flew off toward Besaid at breakneck speed, sending everyone sliding to the back. Willow grabbed Tara and strapped them into a seat, and watched Faith do the same, right before Dawn did a loop in the air. Tara laughed and tightly held Willow as Dawn barrel-rolled the ship. Shinra screamed when his papers went flying all over the bridge.

Fifteen minutes later the ship sat down outside the village gate. Faith and Willow staggered out of the ship looking green, much to the amusement of the villagers. Dawn, Buffy, and Tara ran passed them and through the village gate, laughing all the way.

“You know… I thought I would be used to her flying by now. But nooo! That last roll and flip did me in!” Willow complained as she and Faith finally made it through the gate.

“Don’t remind me.” Faith muttered and smiled when she heard Buffy shout.

“Ur, cra ec cu lida!” (Oh, she is so cute!) Buffy said looking at the baby girl in Anya’s arms.

“Look at her hands! They’re so tiny!” Tara gently held the baby’s hand and smiled when she wrapped her little fingers around hers.

Anya glanced over at Dawn and smiled. “You want to hold her?”

“Can I?”

“Yes.” Anya said handing the baby to Dawn.

Xander grinned. “What do you think? She’s cute, ya?” he said laughing then scratched the back of his head. “Good thing she don’t look like me.”

“What’re you talking about? She’s got your ears.” Willow said as Dawn handed her the baby.

“You think so?”

“What’s her name?” Faith asked playing with the baby’s hand.

Anya laughed. “I think the Calm will end before Xander decides.”

“Then you’d better decide soon.” Tara laughed as Willow handed her the baby.

“No rushing, ya? Naming my daughter is the first important decision as a parent. So I need time to prepare, ya?”

“And just how long are you planning on preparing?” Buffy giggled.

“Until they’re done.”

“I wanted to name her Alex. But, Xander here, didn’t want that.”

“Yes, Alex is a good name, but… I have something else in mind.” Xander said and frowned when he saw Beclem walking out of the village gate. “He must be leaving.”

Turning they saw Beclem stop and turn around, “Tara I would like to speak with you, please.” He shouted and waited outside of the gate.

Handing the baby girl back to Anya, Tara turned and headed toward the gate with the others following. Beclem was leaning against a tree when they stepped on the path; Tara caught a sphere just as he threw it toward them.

“Please, give that to Xander. And tell him to hurry up and name his girl. Can’t just keep calling her ‘the baby’ all the time.” Beclem said and began walking up the hill, and stopped. “I also wanted to apologize for what I said to you. Goodbye.” He said and left.

“What’d he want?” Xander asked approaching.

“He said to give you this.” Tara said and handed him the sphere.

Xander looked down at the sphere, “I wonder what it is?” he asked and pressed the button.

[Sphere]

A young girl with red hair appeared looking into the sphere with Xander praying to the statue behind her.

“Hey, Xander. If you’ve been given this sphere then it means I’m dead. I’m sorry, but I decided to help keep Sin away from the island… and my family. Tell Anya, Tara and Faith: I love them; they were like the sisters I never had. I also wanted to tell ya… Nah, you prob’ly forgot. You remember when I told you I found a sphere showin’ mom and dad? I lied. There is no such sphere. I got so sick of you lecturing me no matter what I did. That’s why I made up that story.”

“If you got time to take pictures, you got time to pray! Especially since you’re joining the Crusaders.” Xander said in the background causing Hikari to turn and look at him.

“Enough with the preaching already!”

“Someone has to keep you in line, with our parents not around.”

“Knock it off with the surrogate parenting and give us both a break, I just need you to be my big brother.”

[End]

“Just her brother…” Xander sighed shaking his head. “Don’t know why she just didn’t come out and say it. Anyways, you guys stay in the village till nightfall.” Xander said and walked back toward his hut with the others following.

Later that night around the campfire…

Tara was sitting in Willow’s lap laughing at something Anya was telling, as Buffy and Faith were eating oranges and apples. Reaching over Willow nabbed one of the apples before Buffy or Faith could catch her, and took a bite. With a smile she quickly laid it down near Buffy’s hand, and grinned when she grabbed it.

“Ewww! Who took a bite outta this!?” Buffy shrieked, then glared as Willow burst out laughing. “Nice, Will, real nice.” She said and threw the apple at Willow who caught it and took another bite out of it.

Xander shook his head and stood up holding the baby girl in his arms. “Well you all probably know why I called everyone here, huh? I’d like to introduce the newest member of Besaid Village.”

“Everyone’s already met her!” Faith grinned.

“You picked a name yet?” Buffy asked around a mouth-full of orange.

“Ya, don’t tell us this is a brainstorming session!” Willow laughed.

“I wouldn’t do something like that! And yes, I have chose a name.” Xander smiled and glanced at the villagers, before turning to Tara. “I’d like you all to meet Mythe. He said as Tara put her hand over her mouth in surprise.

“We hope you don’t mind.” Anya said and looked at the ground. “We were down at the beach when her boat sailed in, and someone shouted the Lady Summoner was here. Xander, and myself hurried over to meet her, but with the villagers all around her, we couldn’t get within ten-foot of her. So, we bowed our heads and walked off, and sat down in the sand. A few minutes later she walked over and asked us to escort her to the temple. She held our hands as we walked back here, to the village. She even let us walk her back to the boat the next morning. So in honor of her, we wanted to give our baby her name.”

“Thank you, Anya.” Tara said embracing the black mage, before standing and doing the same to Xander. “I don’t mind, and I know my mother wouldn’t.”

“All right! Everyone take good care of her.” Xander said when Tara stepped back.

Watching Tara, Buffy, and Faith help Anya up and walk around the fire, Xander sat down next to Willow and smiled when she hit his arm.

“Congrats.”

“Thanks.” Xander nodded then sighed. “You know, I always try to cram myself into some kinda mold. A blitzer, or a guardian, or a follower of Yevon… And now, a father. I always get so wound up about what I should be. But you know, in then end I’m just me. I can’t keep coming up with new Xanders all the time, ya? So it looks like I’ll just have to start doing things my way. That’s the way I’m going to write our story.”

“Just hang in there, Dad.” Willow giggled

Xander laughed. “You know, Sin was nothin’ compared to diaper changing.”

“I bet.” Willow laughed and stood up when Anya walked over with Tara by her side.

“We’ll be back soon. Later guys.” Buffy said approaching and hugged Anya, kissed the baby, and squeezed Xander’s shoulder.

Anya sat down next to her husband as the girls walked toward the gate.

“Sorry it took so long to name her.”

“It’s all right. I knew it would be worth the wait, and it was. I’m glad you brought up Mythe. I had faith.”

“You? Had faith in me?”

“We’re in this together, Xander. Whether you see it or not, I really do rely on you.”

“Guess I’d better not drop the ball, ya?”

“You won’t.” Anya said and laid her head on Xander’s shoulder.

[At the gate]

Willow, Tara, Buffy, and Faith were kneeling down using the cover of darkness and watched the new parents with smiles.

“They’re in their own little world.” Buffy giggled watching Anya kiss Xander’s cheek.

“Come on.” Faith said pulling Buffy up and quietly walking toward the ship.

“Yeah,” Tara nodded. “Let’s not bother them.” She said taking Willow’s hand and following Faith’s lead.

Dawn was snoozing away in the pilots seat, Mizu was snoring loudly with her head hanging over the back of her chair, and Shinra was face down on his consol mumbling something about killer chocobos, when the girls entered.

Laughing quietly Buffy walked over and picked Dawn up, and took her to her room. Faith shook Mizu half awake and helped her to her room. Willow picked Shinra up and carried him to his room, then met Tara in their room.

After turning the lights out Willow crawled in bed, wrapped her arms around Tara, and fell into a restless sleep.

[Dream]

Willow, Faith, and Buffy were running down a dark corridor carrying their weapons, and cutting down fiends left and right. A six-foot tall fiend with green scaly skin, red glowing eyes, and spikes covering its body stepped in front of them. Growling Willow swung her sword around burring it in the fiends’ chest, and pulled it out just as quick. The fiend took a step back, and touched the wound causing it to heal.

Faith grabbed Willow’s right arm, as Buffy grabbed her left, and began pulling her down another corridor. They ran into the room at the end of the long corridor and gaped. Bodies of men and women were lying on the floor, chained to the wall, and hanging from the ceiling.

Willow cried out when she looked to their left and saw Tara topless and chained down to an alter unconscious. Running over she tried to cut the chains with her sword and only found the chains solid. She turned when Buffy cried out and saw her being thrown across the room.

Faith was fighting against three of those green scaly fiends only to be knocked back into the wall. Buffy was fighting against two more of the fiends and losing, as she was chained to the wall, and her top was ripped off. Faith stood and ran at the fiends, only to have them disappear and get knocked back by something unseen. Willow was lifted into the air and thrown across the room into the wall; the last thing she saw was a sword racing toward Faith.

[End]

Willow shot up in bed breathing hard, and her body covered in sweat. She looked down at Tara and saw blue eyes looking back.

“What’s wrong, sweetie?” She asked sitting up and wrapping her arms around Willow’s sweat covered body.

Willow shook her head, and moved closer to Tara. “Nothing. Just…just a bad dream.”

“You sure?”

“Yeah.” Willow nodded trying her best to smile reassuringly, and laid back down taking Tara with her. With Tara’s head on her chest she felt safe enough to go back to sleep, hoping against all hope that she wouldn’t dream again.

The next morning Faith quietly slipped into their room and shook Willow awake. Sitting up she rubbed the sleep from her eyes and yawned, and looked at Faith. “What’s up?” she asked and yawned again looking at the clock. She shook her head when she saw in was only seven thirty.

“Jenny left a message saying she knows what happened to the machina, and she would like for us to be there at eight. Dawn is getting ready to take off, and I just wanted to let you know.”

“Thanks. We’ll be down in a little bit.” Willow yawned again and watched Faith leave the room. Leaning over she kissed Tara and waited for her eyes to open, and smiled. “Hey, baby, Jenny wants to see us.” She said as the ship took off.

“Okay.” Tara said crawling out of bed.

Willow stretched when she and the others stepped out of the ship, and saw Jenny and a few others standing on the hill in front of her shop.

“I’m glad you all are here.” Jenny said as they approached. “We finally know what happened to the machina. And we also caught a baby Chocobo Eater.” She pointed to a wagon with the young fiend in it.

“First, let’s discuss the hover crash. We found marks along the Newroad that seem to indicate something fell from the road into the ravine below. The injured man we found near the crash was the hovers pilot. Now, the runaway machina. The machina can only be configured for operation through a control panel behind the Agency. Naturally, I thought someone might have tampered with it. But something else could have caused the machina to malfunction. Perhaps you have a thought, Lady Tara?”

Tara closed her eyes in thought before looking up. “Maybe a strong impact?”

“Correct.” Jenny nodded. “An impact, were it strong enough, could also be enough to cause any machina to malfunction. Such an impact would not require beastly strength either. Someone weak could deal a forceful enough blow-with a little help from nature. Suppose for example, someone were to jump down from a great height, that would do it.”

Buffy nodded knowing enough about machina to agree.

“I have already talked to the people along the Highroad, and heard their testimony. The hover lost its balance and overturned while attempting to avoid a passerby. But who could it be? We found footprints on one of the malfunctioning machina. So, let me ask you all: Has anyone recently been to the ruins at the Highroad’s south end?”

Tara, Willow, and Buffy all raised their hands.

“And does anyone recall jumping down from a great height?”

Only Buffy raised her hand causing Jenny to look at her.

“What? No one else?” Buffy asked lowering her hand.

“One final question: Who among you passed a hover on the Newroad the other day?”

Tara and Willow raised their hands.

“We were together.” Willow said turning to Buffy. “Remember, we were going to rescue Calli.”

“I don’t remember.”

Jenny sighed. “Please try to recall what happened, Buffy.”

Buffy nodded and thought back.

[Memory]

“You can’t!”

"But there isn't enough time!"

"Hyaa!" William shouted and sent four chocobos to distract the fiend. "We'll buy you some time! Lady Tara, please hurry!"

With them running down the road the hover fell into the ravine avoiding Buffy who was running with her head down, getting her mixes ready for the fight.

[End]

“It was me!” Buffy shouted

“Yes, the hover crashed while trying to avoid hitting you. And you caused the machina to malfunction when you landed on it. So, you, Buffy, are the one who caused those two incidents to occur.”

“No! I feel like crying!” Buffy said kneeling.

“I’m sure you meant no harm, but your carelessness invited disaster. And I have already determined your sentence.”

“Sentence? What sentence!?”

“Follow me and you will see.”

Two hours later Willow, Tara, and Faith are waiting at the Highroad’s entrance to Luca. Faith was leaning against the concrete fence, smirking as she watched the Highroad. Willow was sitting on the ground next to Tara, and laughing her ass off having forgotten about her dream for the time being. Tara could hear Dawn over the receiver also laughing.

“Didn’t expect trash duty.” Faith said walking over as Buffy approached.

“Phew!” Buffy bent over putting her hands on her knees. “Glad that’s over!”

“You must be tired.” Tara smiled.

“E’s nayto du tnub!” (I’m ready to drop!) Buffy said as Jenny approached riding a chocobo with three other birds behind her.

“Why the chocobos?” Tara asked confused.

“They were being used to power a ferryboat, so I bought them.”

“That’s nice, and all, but can I go home now? I picked up all the trash.”

“All of the trash?” Jenny asked turning the chocobo around.

“Yes! Look!” Buffy said and turned. “Hu fyo!” (No way!) She shouted seeing chocobo feathers littering the ground.

Willow and Faith burst out laughing, as Tara’s shoulders shook.

“I thank you for your hard work.” Jenny said grinning and took off toward the shop.

“Well? Get plucking!” Faith said causing Tara to join her and Willow in laughing.

“This sucks! Feathers aren’t trash!” Buffy complained beginning to pick the feathers up.

There's 29 and thirty will be out tomorrow. :) Hope ya enjoyed reading.

:read

I liked how Xander and Anya named their baby after Tara's mother (way to honor someone). Mythe was not just a great summoner but a great person too, so it was a really good choice.

So... Buffy was the responsible for the whole mess with the machina uh? who would have thought?... and her punishment... hehe poor Buffy.

And Willow keeping secrets... :no she should know better than that. I understand that she doesn't want to worry the rest with her visions/dreams, but I think that because of it she's putting them at risk. They are at disadvantage not knowing, because if anything happens they're not going to be able to protect themselves in the same way that they could if prepared (to be prepared she would have to tell them). But of course I could be wrong... :paranoid

Well then i'm waiting for the next update to see if I can get this puzzle done, so if you're kind enough to give me a little bit more of information... :whistle ... didn't work uh? well I had to try.

More soon?

Chapter 30

Postby Stormforce » Wed Sep 29, 2004 1:50 am

Egnalos - I had naming the baby planned since chapter 1, I wanted to have a way of Xander and Anya honoring Tara's mother. And I thought Buffy being the one responsible for the haywire machina would be funny, so she's the one I used. I know Willow keeping her vision/dreams secret is bad, but it will be sorted out soon. I could have her keep them a secret a while longer...but it would sort of mess the chapters up, so I won't. I hope this chapter gives you some more information ;)

Chapter Thirty: The Farplane

After Buffy had finished picking the feathers up with the others help they boarded the ship, only to hear Dawn still giggling. Sighing Buffy sat down and rolled her shoulders knowing they would be sore later. Shinra stood and walked over to the girls and nodded his head making a decision.

“I’m sorry to bring this up, but what are we going to do about Vegnagun? We know it’s in the deepest reaches of the Farplane. And the only way to get there is to jump into one of those holes.”

“Yeah, but which one?” Buffy asked popping her neck.

“Well, there’s one in Besaid, one in Kilika, and one in Djose Temple.” Tara said leaning back in her chair.

“Don’t forget about the one in the Calm Lands. The cave at the bottom of the gorge.” Willow said sharpening her sword.

“And the hole that Vegnagun opened in the Bevelle Underground.” Mizu reminded them.

“Okay,” Faith nodded. “But which one do we jump into?”

Tara closed her eyes in thought before looking from Willow, to Buffy, and finally to Faith. “I don’t think it matters much. They all lead to the same place, and the closest one is Djose, so let’s try that one.”

With the others in agreement Dawn set course to Djose while the others were preparing. Willow and Faith finished sharpening their weapons. Tara and Buffy were getting mixes and other life saving items ready.

When the ship landed the girls told Dawn and the others to keep watch on things while they were gone. Before they could get out the door Shinra ran up to them and hugged Tara, then Willow, Buffy, and Faith.

“Be careful. Okay?”

“Don’t worry we will.” Tara smiled and watched him head back to the bridge.

“Let’s go.” Faith said leading the way with the others close behind.

Running passed the Al Bhed they entered the temple and took the stairs up to the chamber. Turning with a smirk Faith nodded and jumped into the hole. Buffy jumped next and screamed half way down.

Willow grabbed Tara’s hand before they jumped at the same time. When they landed, Faith and Buffy were already in fighting stances keeping on guard.

Slowly turning around in every direction Willow took in what the entrance looked like. They were standing on a five-foot wide walkway leading down into the darkness. There were other walkways also leading down, the girls assumed they were from the other temples.

Torches were scattered every twenty-five or so feet, giving off just enough light to see by. They could also see large pillars lying across the path, and some even broke through leaving two and three-foot wide gaps.

“Well.” Willow said unsheathing her sword. “This is it, time to go.”

The four girls carefully made their way down the path silently thanking anyone who was listening, that there were no fiends around. Faith jumped over a fallen pillar and stood watch as the others jumped over.

The end of the path was a four-foot jump, to what looked like a large twenty-foot round arena. Once on the arena type rock, everyone stopped and looked up.

Floating slowly down was Shiva, her once beautiful blue hair and body was now a dull gray. She landed with grace and faced the girls; a bright blue light surrounded her hand causing the girls to scatter.

Turning they saw the ground frozen over where they were standing. Willow faced the Aeon, hands raised in the air, and watched as a Firaga spell rose out of the ground under Shiva’s feet. The Aeon screamed in pain, and cast a Blizzaga spell towards Buffy.

Jumping to the right Buffy avoided the ice spell and threw a Firestorm mix, just as Faith left a deep wound in Shiva’s stomach. Tara had begun to fire round after round into Shiva’s mid-section and chest. Shiva fell to her knees and disappeared.

The ground shook with enough force to cause a pillar behind them to fall and shatter more of the path. Rocks fell from the ceiling causing the girls to jump back and to the side to avoid getting hit. Pyreflies began to swirl as souls emerged from the ground, forming a tall shape close to the edge of the arena. Readying their weapons the girls gasped when the shape became visible. Tara shook her head and sighed as she looked up at Anima.

Back flipping to avoid the Aeon’s eye laser attack, Willow cast a Flare spell while Tara infused everyone’s weapons with Holy magic. Having Faith to lock her fingers together Buffy had her to flip her into the air, twisting her body Buffy threw a Soul Stealer mix at the Aeon, and landed on her feet.

With the mix doing its job Faith and Willow ran forward and crossed paths just as they attacked, leavin an ‘X’ on Anima’s mid-section. Tara fire seven Holy infused rounds into Anima’s neck and chest, and watched as the spells exploded. Anima roared as the souls rose into the air and she disappeared.

After Anima was gone the air shimmered allowing the Bahamut Fayth to appear. He looked at each of the girls and bowed his head.

“Tara.” He said sadly. “I’m sorry. We weren’t strong enough to stop her. We wanted to at least warn someone, when we found out who was behind everything. But instead, we were dragged into the darkness. We’re no better than fiends.”

“Don’t worry. It’s all right, I must thank you for helping in the Den of Woe.”

“We had just enough power to resist her for a time, but not long enough.”

“Please. Tell us, what is she?”

Bahamut closed his eyes, and crossed his legs as he floated five-foot off the ground. “Tsuki is no more than a shadow. When Tsuki died in Vegnagun’s chamber, her hate and misery lingered on, not allowing her to pass into the Farplane. And once her lingering feelings grew strong enough, they began to act on their own. And now she is a shadow-a shade that wants only to vanish, but cannot.”

“But what about in the Den of Woe? What happened there…I mean she almost killed us.” Buffy said narrowing her eyes.

“That is where the Bevelle guards disposed of her body, and the pyreflies in the cave began to take her shape. Soon, the Den of Woe was her home, and she would kill anyone who even stepped inside. You see, she feeds off the energy released at death, and the death energy made her stronger.”

“Great. An unsent feeding of death energy, this keeps getting better and better, doesn’t it?” Faith asked sarcastically.

“What about Lenne? Why does she keep calling Tara, Lenne?” Willow asked confused. “I mean she told me that the summoner was her lover, not mine. And she was talking about Tara, only it was Lenne she meant.”

“You’re confusing me!” Buffy mumbled unhappily.

“Its what you call the Dressphere. That small sphere was once Lenne’s; she wore it one thousand years ago before the machina war began. When Bevelle attacked she gave the sphere to Tsuki telling her that when Zanarkand won, she wanted it back. Only thing was: Tsuki had already made her mind up about stealing Vegnagun.”

“Just how did Tsuki know about that machina? I’m thinking Bevelle didn’t announce it to all of Spira that they had a machina that big.” Faith asked as the boy slowly floated to the ground.

“Yeah, and how did she know how to use it?” Buffy asked.

“Because she helped build it.”

“Huh?”

“Yes, Tsuki was the daughter of Yevon, and Yevon was the one who’d constructed the plans for Vegnagun. She was only ten at the time, but she was a genius and could build anything her father wished. She had only one friend, the daughter of Yevon’s servant, Lenne, but the servant began to dislike Yevon and fled to Zanarkand taking his family with him. Losing her only friend sent Tsuki into obsessing over Vegnagun, and built the giant machina in only five years. After it was constructed when she turned fifteen she left Bevelle, turning her back on her father and moved to Zanarkand.”

“What happened?” Tara asked.

“She found Lenne, and soon the two of them became lovers. For two years they lived in peaceful happiness; that is until Bevelle began attacking. It was then that Lenne was sent to the front lines, both girls knowing she would return. That is when Tsuki made the trip back to Bevelle, not knowing that Lenne had followed after hearing of her capture. She killed the guard taking her to see her father, and hurried toward the temple only to find Lenne on trial. Tsuki grabbed Lenne and jumped into the underground, they got split up before reaching the chamber, and Tsuki went on ahead. The chamber is where Lenne found her activating Vegnagun, and asked for her to stop. You know the rest -they were killed. And now, like I said: she is nothing more than a shadow.”

“She’s just a shadow… We can handle a shadow.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes. Leave it to us.” Tara nodded and turned to look at the Fayth and watched as he bowed and vanished. “I’ll banish shadow with light.”

Buffy cocked her head with a confused look on her face. “Light?”

“Lenne’s feelings.” Willow said in understanding.

“That’s right. Call it…love.” Tara smiled and jumped down into the Farplane Abyss.

Tara nodded recognizing the place where she saw Nooj, Baralai, and Gippal. The portal was still open near the edge; they could feel the wind as it raced out of the portal blowing their clothes and hair around. Leblanc, Ormi and Logos was staring into the portal like they’d never seen one before.

“Bout damn time you made here, loves!” Leblanc said when she saw the girls approaching.

“We had things to take care of.” Willow growled in no mood to deal with her.

“Whatever. This is the portal leading to Vegnagun, so what are you waiting for, him to come to you? Let’s go!”

“I think you should stay here. Nooj wouldn’t want you wandering around, you might get hurt.” Tara said hoping Leblanc wouldn’t join them.

“What? My Noojie is waiting on me! And I don’t want to keep him waiting!” Leblanc shouted before she sighed. “But I guess you’re right. Will you tell my lovable Noojie-Woojie I’m waiting?”

“Uh…sure. We’ll tell him you’re waiting like a good girl, okay?” Buffy nodded thanking anyone who was listening for Leblanc not coming.

“Make sure you do, love. No go on! You need to save Spira!”

“Yeah, while you be a chicken and wait here.” Faith grumbled, and got hit.

“We don’t want her with us!” Buffy whispered shaking her head. “She’s annoying!”

“Okay, okay.” Faith smirked.

Shaking her head as she sighed Willow glared at the annoying woman and two men before following Tara’s lead and jumping into the portal, with Buffy and Faith close behind her.

See? I was wondering what Tsuki was; I thought she was a very pissed off unsent, but then I thought that if she was an unsent, what happened to Lenne? was she an unsent to? because if she was, then why wasn't she with Tsuki? I mean they were lovers and all, she should be trying to reason with her to stop killing and stuff; but the only times she had made an appearance is with Tara or asking Willow for help; so I started thinking that Lenne just "appears" like Mythe or Ira and I then assumed that she's in the Farplane like them and since Tsuki didn't cross because of her lingering feelings she wasn't an unsent but something else and... did I make any sense? that's why I usually don't try to explain what I think I end up confusing myself and everyone in the process, sorry. :sigh

So Tara is really confident that they can take a shadow hu? or should I say Tsuki. Well I was wondering if Tara is considering all the years that said shadow's been gaining power feeding of the death? or that she's just plain crazy thinking that she's her Lenne? Or is it that she can fight her just with love as she said? but whose love? or did I get all this chapter wrong?... mmmhhhh... I didn't get this chapter wrong did I? Better go and read it again; just in case.

Egnalos - No confusion here, I could understand what you said :) Yes, Lenne should be/should have been, trying to get Tsuki to stop, but... I had something else in mind and went with the flow. So, anyway, you shall find out in this chapter, where Lenne was during all of this. And you didn't get the last chapter wrong, I will say there is nothing crazy about Tsuki...except maybe being very pissed off, and killing anyone who crossed her path. As for fighting with love, you'll see. ;)

Chapter Thirty-One: Battle On the Farplane

When they landed they found themselves on a large platform with a path leading to the top. Looking up they could just make out Vegnagun’s huge shape in the distance; Buffy stepped on a floor switch and was nearly fried as electricity flew out of the low walls.

Being careful not to step on any more switches the girls hurried toward the dark shape. Jumping on to the next platform and reaching another path they saw Gippal leaning against the wall covered in blood.

“Gippal! You moron, what happened?” Buffy asked as they approached.

“You could say I got…careless.” He said leaning his head back.

“Are you all right?” Tara asked handing him a Potion.

“I could use a nap, and thanks.” He drank the Potion and felt the wounds heal.

“Where’s Nooj?” Willow asked not seeing the other man.

“He went on ahead.”

“Oh hell!” Buffy grumbled causing the others to look at her. Pointing behind them she shook her head.

“Where’s my Noojie-Woojie?” Leblanc asked with Ormi and Logos behind her.

“Up ahead. Now be nice and take care of Gippal while we’re gone.” Willow said before turning and heading toward another platform, causing Leblanc to clench her fists.

“I don’t take orders! I’ll be up in a few minutes!”

“Whatever.” Faith said and followed the others.

The small group jumped up and over seven more platforms before reaching a barrier, with a control panel next to it. Buffy walked over glanced at the green, red, purple, and orange buttons, before she began typing.

The orange, green, and purple buttons lit up after she typed in several codes, the red button finally lit up playing a sweet tone and deactivating the barrier. Turning she gave the others a smile and stepped over to the now safe crossing.

“I got a hunch that once we go on, there’s no turning back.” She said looking up at the now visible Vegnagun.

“A hunch? Faith asked staring at the giant machina

“Yeah.” Buffy nodded.

“That’s it?” Willow asked getting another nod.

“A hunch it is, then.” Tara said and lead the way with Willow by her side, and Buffy and Faith following.

Following the path up to Vegnagun’s lair they could see the giant machina moving, and looked up on a higher platform to see Nooj standing near the torso. Jumping up three more platforms, and following another path they approached Nooj and watched him turn.

“Both Vegnagun and Baralai belong to her now.”

“Tsuki?” Tara asked looking at Vegnagun’s head and saw Baralai with the image of Tsuki around his body playing the organ keyboard.

“I have a plan… Can’t call it a smart one, though.” Nooj said watching the bars light up.

“What’s that?” Willow asked looking from Vegnagun to Nooj.

“She is acting through another’s body. Stop that body and you stop her. I’ll shoot Baralai.”

“No! You can’t!” Buffy shouted surprised.

“Look his body will be useless, but if we’re lucky, he won’t die. Tsuki will abandon Baralai, and come back for me.”

“And what then?” Faith asked glaring at him.

“I will die. My body has already been rigged. I’m taking Tsuki with me.”

“I don’t like your plan. It sucks!” Tara said causing everyone to look at her. Willow, Buffy and Faith smiled, while Nooj looked shocked.

“Tara?” Nooj sighed

Your plan is awful. Think about it. It’s no different than what we did two years ago. We destroyed our own allies. We destroyed the Aeons who had fought with us, at our sides. We didn’t have a choice then. We believed it was the only way to save Spira. Do you know how it felt to watch them die? Right before my eyes? It was the only thing we could do. It was the only choice we had. And you know what: I gave in, I accepted it, and I believed. And in doing so, I allowed it to be true. I thought I’d be able to go through with it without ever doubting myself. But I… It hurts so much.” Tara said and lowered her head.

“Forgive us.” The voice of the Fayth was heard.

“Everyone was so happy. ‘Great job, Tara. You did it. You saved us all.’ But I wasn’t happy, I didn’t do a ‘Great job’, at that time, after the battle, I had lost everything. I had lost the only one I’d ever fallen in love with. I had lost the Aeons, who gave me their strength.”

“We had no choice.” The Fayth said again.

“I tried to smile, but I couldn’t… I couldn’t, not until the Fayth gave Willow back to me.” Tara looked up and shook her head. “It was ‘We had no choice.’ Always ‘We had no choice.’ Those are our magic words. We repeat them to ourselves again and again. But you know… The magic never worked! The only thing we’re left with is regret!”

“Tara… I’m so sorry.” Mythe said sadly.

“No! I don’t want that anymore. I don’t want friends to die… or Willow to fade away again. I don’t want battles where we have to lose in order to win.” Tara said and smiled a little as she turned and wrapped her arms around Willow. “Nooj, I know you mean to do what you said… but please believe in me. I know we can win without anyone dieing.”

Nooj looked from Tara to Vegnagun and back again. “Do you have a plan?” he asked as Gippal approached.

“Light?” Faith asked turning to Tara.

“Nope that’s ‘Plan B’. But before that, Buffy, no matter how monstrous is looks; Vegnagun is still just a machina. So we can take it apart, right?”

“Yeah… uh, maybe?”

“What gives? You never used to be the think-before-you-act type.” Gippal asked getting a glare from Buffy.

“Leblanc!” Nooj shouted.

“And I never was the wait-like-a-good-girl type. Isn’t that right, Noojie?” she said getting a confused stare from Nooj.

“Vegnagun can be destroyed. Wanna know why?” Gippal said grinning.

“Cause people built it!” Buffy shouted nodding.

“Right! It looks like we can stop that thing after all!” Tara said as Vegnagun growled.

“Now it’s pissed!” Ormi said grabbing his shield.

“Witless little widget, isn’t it?” Logos said pulling his pistols.

“What about Tsuki?” Nooj asked looking at the top of Vegnagun.

“Plan B.” Willow smiled.

“Huh?”

“Love.” Tara said and changed into Lenne’s clothes.

“The ultimate illusion.” Nooj nodded.

“Hey, it’ll work. I’ve come this far to bring Lenne’s feeling to Tsuki, and I’m not stopping now.”

“The power of love conquers all! So romantic! Count me in.” Leblanc sighed.

Vegnagun began to shake as a fifteen-foot long cannon emerged from its chest, and began to glow.

“It’s just bluffing!” Ira’s voice could be heard.

“This relic’s getting rusty.” Giles said

“Tara, you have your friends, you have Willow!.” Mythe said.

“If we attack all at once, we can do this! We need to split up!” Tara said turning to face the group.

“Leave the tail and legs to us!” Leblanc said as she, Ormi, and Logos ran off.

“We’ve got the torso!” Gippal said as he, and Nooj ran forward.

“Come on! Let’s get to the top, and stop Baralai… Tsuki… oh, whoever!” Buffy said and jumped on to the higher platforms with the others following.

Up at the organ Tsuki continued playing the organ making the cannon glow brighter and brighter, as she laughed.

“All of Spira is finished.” She smirked as another bar lit up, and the cannon glowed brighter. Vegnagun moved forward slowly ramming into the platforms causing everyone to lose their balance.

“She’s got a ‘Plan B’, too!” Buffy shouted and ran toward the head.

“She’s panicking. Tara! End it now.” Giles said

“This is it, stay focused!” Tara shouted and concentrated as Faith and Willow helped Buffy begin to pull wires from Vegnagun’s head.

Turning Tsuki saw what they were doing and jumped from the organ, and cast a Flare spell. The girls were thrown back beside Tara, and slowly stood raising their weapons. A light surrounded Tara causing Tsuki to stop and stare.

“Tsuki.” Tara said taking a step forward.

“Lenne?”

“There’s something I must tell you. Words left unspoken for a thousand years. I love you. And I’m grateful that you stayed with me until the end.”

“But I couldn’t save you.”

“It doesn’t matter. Please don’t go on grieving alone. Rest.” Lenne’s voice overlapped Tara’s, causing Tsuki to step out of Baralai’s body.

“We can finally fade together…” Tsuki trailed off and saw Tara not Lenne. You’re not Lenne!” she said raising her sword.

Tara jumped back avoiding the blow and saw the sword leave a six-inch deep four-inch wide crack where she’d been standing. A Flare spell exploded next to Faith knocking her back several foot, her feet skidding across the large platform, as sparks flew from her spear blade when it scraped against the ground. Buffy threw a Winter Storm mix, before she, too, was knocked back and over the edge. The sharp jagged rock digging into her hands as she pulled herself up.

"Damn! She's powerful! She shrugged off my mix!" Buffy said as she stood.

Willow stepped in front of Tara as Tsuki attack her again, and blocked the blow that would have surely killed Tara. Tsuki jumped back, smirking -as she called upon the death energy- she'd collected over the years, and cast a Death Spell. A black portal opened up in front of Willow, as four flaming pillars shot up from the ground surrounding her. A skeletal looking figure appeared from the portal holding a scythe, and swung the weapon slicing across Willow’s stomach leaving a deep deadly wound.

Willow fell to the ground unconscious as the figure, flaming pillars, and portal disappeared. Seeing this happen Faith attacked Tsuki, hoping to keep her at bay long enough for Tara or Buffy to heal Willow. Faith side flipped over a low swing from Tsuki, and brought her spear down, releasing a Demi spell-hoping the spell was powerful enough. The spell exploded sending Tsuki back and through Vegnagun’s head. Willow stood after Tara had healed her wounds, and nodded to Buffy.

A serious look crossed Buffy’s face as she reached into her pouch, and pulled out a vial with skull and crossbones on the label. Faith’s eyes widened when she saw the vial, "Holy Shiva!" she shouted and hurried over to the group to stand beside Buffy. Willow took Tara’s hand and crouched down with her back to Vegnagun and Tara in front of her, and in doing so she was protecting Tara from what was about to happen.

“Total Oblivion!” Buffy shouted throwing the vial and crouching down beside Faith.

Tsuki was just crawling out of the machina’s head and saw the vial land in front of her, breaking. The explosion that followed shook the entire Farplane, and of Spira. Even with their eyes closed the girls could see the blinding red flash that lit up the area, as a howling wind began to blow large rocks through the air.

The red turned to green, then to blue, finally it turned black, as a large pale hand grabbed Tsuki. The shadow screamed as the hand squeezed -making her feel, a thousand years worth of the pain and suffering she’d caused.

Tears began to fall as she screamed, fighting against the hold on her body and went limp, as all of the death energy left her body. She had quit struggling against the giant hand, and gave up.

“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.” She whispered as the hand exploded into bright pink, white, yellow, and orange souls, before disappearing. The girls stood as Tsuki fell to her knees covering her face with her hands and sobbing.

“Tsuki?” Lenne’s voice asked causing her to look up, and her eyes to go wide when Lenne stepped out of Tara’s body. Willow caught Tara before she could fall, and helped her to stay standing as they watched the lovers.

“Lenne?”

“Hey there.” Lenne smiled.

“A thousand years and this moment is all we get?” Tsuki asked as Lenne kneeled down and hugged her.

“This moment is all we need. I don’t need anything else.” Lenne said softly kissing her cheek. “I love you. Let’s end this. Let’s go home.”

“Can we?”

Lenne nodded. “That was all a thousand years ago. We’ve come too far to look back now. Rest with me. I have a new song for you.” Lenne said and kissed Tsuki again, before standing to look at Willow, and then Tara. “Thank you.” She smiled and disappeared.

Willow picked Tara up and carried her down the platforms and paths back into the Farplane, to wait for the others to finish with Vegnagun. She smiled and kissed Tara, only to jump when she heard giggling from behind her. Turning to look her eyes went wide at seeing Mythe, and the Bahamut Fayth standing behind them.

“I think we’ve come at a bad time Kou.” Mythe grinned at the Bahamut Fayth causing both Tara and Willow to blush.

“Seems so.” The boy smiled.

“Think we should come back later?”

Willow helped Tara to stand and walk over to her mother. “Don’t leave.” Tara said and embraced her mother.

“You sure? We could leave and give you and Willow an hour to finish what you almost started.”

“We wasn’t doing anything…yet.” Willow grumbled blushing. “Anyway, what’s up?”

“We are thankful for what you’ve done. The Farplane has returned to normal, and is now letting the souls pass freely.” Kou said and floated into the air crossing his legs. “We the Fayth, Mythe, your parents, and Giles have decided to give you two special gifts. But we agreed not to tell you what these gifts are, you have to find out on your own.”

“We don’t need any gifts.” Tara smiled as her mother kissed her forehead. “You’ve already done so much.”

“Yeah, like letting me be with Tara.” Willow said and hugged the Fayth and Mythe.

“Don’t argue with us.” Mythe said sternly. “I’m your mother, Tara, and I’m your mother-in-law, Willow. So, therefore you have to at the very least accept what we are giving you. Besides they will help you when the time comes, okay?”

“Okay, okay.” Willow shook her head. “We thank you.”

Mythe smiled as a white light surrounded her and Kou, and then engulfed both Willow and Tara, before dieing out. “By the way, Willow, don’t keep things from your family. They will help you when you need it. Understand?”

Willow nodded, knowing what Mythe meant, as she thought back to the dream and visions. “I will talk to them. Oh, and tell everyone ‘hey’ for us, please.”

“We will, now we must be going, the others are approaching.” Mythe smiled and waved to the stunned group behind the girls and vanished with Kou.

As the group walked back toward the portal Willow would glance at Tara, before looking to the ground. Laughing quietly Tara squeezed her hand. “What’s wrong?”

“Did you know Lenne was in your body?”

“No, I had no idea. I guess that explains why I was feeling what she felt.”

"But what about Will seeing her on the Mi'ihen Highroad? I mean you did say she appeared." Faith said confused.

"Yes, but remember it was after I had been shot by that machina. I assume she felt my body die, and...left so the Phoenix Down would work. Since we were so close to the Den of Woe, she appeared to Will asking for help."

"Ah, okay. That makes sense." Faith nodded.

“Now I get it!” Buffy shouted causing everyone to jump at her outburst. “I was wondering why Tsuki tried to kill us in your bedroom. You said it yourself Will, she said she was trying to keep you from touching Tara, right? It was because Lenne was in Tara’s body! You were touching Tara, but you were also touching Lenne…in a weird kinda way.”

“Whoa! So that means Lenne was feeling what Tara felt, too! Way to go Will! You were making love to two women!” Faith laughed causing Willow’s face to turn the color of her hair.

“Don’t ever say that again!” Willow said before smirking. “But you’re right. Go me!” Willow laughed causing Tara to hit her shoulder and glare.

“Am I not enough?” Tara asked before dropping her hand and walking through the portal.

“No! No, that wasn’t what I meant!” Willow shouted and chased after Tara, as the others laughed.

Ok then so Lenne was in Tara's body all the time? well I thought that she only took possession of Tara's body when she needed to show or say something (as when they sang); and I assumed that because of the time she asked Willow for help, so you had me there; and now I just want to know since when she was sharing Tara's body, me being slow and all didn't catch that detail. :blush

I thought that Tsuki didn't want Willow to touch Tara because, as I told you before, Lenne (to me) sometimes possessed Tara's body, and plus the dress sphere, Tsuki could feel and see Tara as Lenne, so well as you see my theory was wrong.

So now I'm wondering what are those gifts the girls had received that Mythe said were going to help them when the time comes, so to me the guessing game starts again. :bounce Oh and I haven't forgot about that guy of chapter 26 so, is he next? :grin

Chapter 32

Egnalos - Since Tara had Lenne's dressphere, she was in Tara's body all the time...except for when she appeared to Willow, and at the concert. Sort of a twist, I know :) Sorry I never explained when Tara got the dressphere, all I can say now is: it was during those two months after getting off of Omega Island in chapter 2. About the gifts, since I've said I would write a sequel-that's where the gifts will come in. So, I'm sort of setting up the next story. Nope this chapter is the battle with the fiend in Bikanel Desert, but the next chapter will have the guy from 26 in it. :D

Chapter Thirty-Two: Battle in Bikanel

Getting back to the surface had been easy with no fiends attacking, but it had been annoying with Leblanc gushing over Nooj the entire time. Tara and Faith had to hold Willow and Buffy up front to keep them from attacking Leblanc. With the path they’d taken blocked by a rather large pillar they had taken the closest path, and ended up in the Bevelle Underground.

For just a few minutes everyone stood in Vegnagun’s chamber and looked around. With the giant machina now completely taken apart and left on the Farplane, the chamber felt somehow safer. Baralai took the lead and led the group through a shortcut back to the temple.

Once outside Buffy spoke into the receiver telling Dawn to pick them up just outside of Bevelle. Hearing Leblanc telling Nooj she wanted to ride the airship back to Guadosalam caused the girls eyes to widen. Willow picked Tara up and ran toward the Macalania Entrance with Buffy behind her carrying Faith over her shoulder.

Dawn sat the airship down just as the girls ran into the clearing and lowered the cargo door. Buffy closed the door and dropped Faith before heading to the bridge.

“We made something for ya!” Mizu smirked when they entered. “Here!” she threw a light pink sphere to Tara.

When the light died down Tara was standing there in the same Moogle costume she’d wore in Luca, causing everyone to giggle. Sighing she shook her head. “You made it into a Dressphere?”

“Yeah!” Dawn shouted excitedly. “Buffy, catch!”

Tara was glad the Moogle costume was muffled her voice, since she couldn’t help but laugh with Willow and Faith. Buffy was standing in a black and white cat costume, a small golden crown on its head, with a red scarf and red boots. Turning she saw her reflection in the glass and screamed taking the head off, and glaring at Dawn.

“I am not wearing this!”

“Aww, but its so cute! We call it Cait Sith.”

“I don’t care what you call it, I’m still not wearing it. And you! Quit laughing at me!” She said glaring at Faith.

“Whatever. Anyway, here Willow.” Dawn said tossing a sphere to Willow.

“What am I wearing?” Willow asked turning to look at the others, only getting laughter in reply. Sighing she turned toward the window to see her reflection, and groaned. She was wearing a Tonberry costume; its dark green body, light green robe and yellow eyes were staring back at her. “I’m with Buffy, I’m not wearing this.”

“Oh, come on, Will! You both look so cute!” Faith laughed as a sphere was put in her hand.

Yellow light lit up the bridge, when it died down; Tara held the head of her costume in place as she doubled over laughing. Buffy dropped the head of her costume, as Willow’s fell off.

“What?” Faith asked and looked at her reflection, only to see a chocobo staring back at her. “Why is there a chocobo on the ship?”

“That’s you.” Shinra giggled.

“What!?” Faith screamed taking the head off and looked down at the yellow bird costume. “What the hell?! I am not wearing this! No way!”

“Aww, but Faith, you look so cute!” Willow said throwing Faith's words back at her between laughs.

“Do ya what me to start plucking?” Buffy smirked.

“Oh shut up.” Faith said and waddled to a chair.

Laying the spheres down on the table caused the costumes to disappear and the girls to sigh in relief. A green glow caught Willow’s attention, turning to look she saw the last five Cactuar Spheres glowing. Picking up two of them she turned toward the others.

“Hey, they’re all glowing. This one says: Areq and Arroja - Calm Lands… this one says the same.” She said holding the second sphere up.

“Islaya - Thunder Plains.” Buffy said holding the third as Faith and Tara picked the last two up.

“Eria - Gagazet.” Faith said reading the sphere. “Tara, what’s yours?”

“Frailea - Macalania Spring.”

Glancing around Tara nodded and started for the cargo door, stepping outside the girls followed the path to the spring. Willow smiled remembering her and Tara’s first kiss in that very spring, and watched Tara touch the water with the sphere. The cactuar appeared flipped twice and disappeared.

Hurrying back to the ship they told Dawn to head for the Calm Lands, then to Gagazet. Landing near the entrance to Gagazet Willow touched the Areq and Arroja spheres to the ground and watched the cactuars appear and disappear. Buffy took her sphere and touched the entrance to Gagazet and smiled when the cactuar appeared and chattered before he vanished.

Back inside the ship the girls waited in the cargo hold for Dawn to land in the Thunder Plains, five minutes later Faith released the last cactuar, and ran back to the ship. The alarm went off when they entered the bridge, and watched Mizu’s screen slid up showing Nhadala.

“The fiends are attacking the Cactuar Nation! Please tell me you’ve found the cactuars.”

At hearing that Dawn raised the ship into the air and shot off toward Bikanel pushing the ship to its limits.

“We just released the last one.” Tara said and saw an explosion in the background. “Are you guys all right?”

“For now. We’re keeping the fiends away from the camp. Hold on, I’m going to patch Benzo though.” She said as an image of the Cactuar Nation popped up.

Black and gray snake like fiends were rising out of the sand all around the hollow trying to break through the barrier. “Those aren’t your everyday fiends.” Buffy said seeing the foot and a half long fangs, and diamond shaped head on the fiends.

“Benzo, you okay?” Willow asked as the barrier broke allowing the fiends to enter. Marnela shook as a bright green light surrounded the cacti. She leaned back then forward, and then straight up as a shockwave shot out in a circle killing the fiends. Benzo was on his knees covering his head with his arms as the dust settled, showing hundreds of dead fiends before they disappeared.

“I’m fine,” He said standing, and watched, as the ten gatekeepers appeared in a circle as more fiends invaded the area. The cactuar began to glow as a fifty-foot tall cactuar appeared in the center of the circle glowing bight green. A thunderous boom was heard as a much larger shockwave was sent out from the giant cactuar cutting the link.

“Benzo!” Shinra shouted and looked toward Dawn “Hurry! You must hurry!”

“I’m going top speed.” Dawn replied and shook her head. “Hold on to something! I am going to try ‘Hyper-drive’”

Willow grabbed Tara, just as Faith grabbed Buffy and strapped into their seats as Dawn pressed a purple button. For a split second the ship stalled in mid-flight before it shot off again faster than before, anyone looking up into the sky only saw a red blur pass by. The engines were beginning to whine loudly, as they were sent into overload to move the ship faster. It only took ten minutes to reach the desert, and Dawn to curse when a red light blinked.

“What? What is it?” Buffy asked not caring at that moment what her younger sister said.

“The engines are burning up!”

“Oh, shit!” Buffy said watching Dawn press the purple button again slowing the ship down over the Al Bhed camp. When the ship landed she cut the engines, grabbed Mizu, and ran toward the engine room. When the four girls and one boy stepped outside they were in the middle of a war. Half dead fiends lying beside the bodies of Al Bhed men and woman, some were either already dead, or dieing.

Willow and Faith ran forward cutting down any fiend in their way, as Tara cast healing spells, and Buffy handed out Potions.

“I’m glad you’re here!” Nhadala said limping over. “There’s a huge fiend coming this way, and with my men and women hurt we can’t deal with it.”

“We’ll take care of it!” Faith said severing the head off of another snake fiend, and fell to her knees along with everyone else as the ground shook. Looking south they saw the sand flying into the air and a huge cloud of dust to circling a large object in the middle. A loud shriek echoed around the desert making the fiends dive into the sand. Willow stood and gripped her sword as the giant fiend topped the dune. Angra Mainyu had just joined the battle.

The green and orange glow from the two bodies on the left and right caused Willow and Buffy to stop in their tracks. Willow jumped to the left avoiding the poison cloud, and cast a Flare spell, Buffy dodged to the right avoiding the Berserk spell, and threw a Winter Storm mix. The two bodies went limp leaving only the middle body to deal with.

Faith ran forward glowing light blue and cast Ice Breath, four large blocks of Ice fell from the sky hitting the middle body. Angra Mainyu roared and cast its own spell reviving the left and right bodies. Tara fired Holy infused rounds into the left body and could only watch, as the right body poisoned Willow and Faith. Willow doublecast another Flare spell before falling to the ground, Faith severed the hands off the right body before she fell beside Willow.

Tara holstered a pistol and cast Esuna on the fallen girls and heard Buffy scream before she, too, fell to the ground, blood running down her side. Casting a Cura spell Tara didn’t notice the middle body casting its own spell. The Thunder spell hit Tara throwing her back fifteen-foot, unconscious, with her pistol five-foot away. Willow stood glowing bright blue, and cast seven Flare spells on the giant fiend, before running over to Tara.

Buffy and Faith attacked head on, using Firestorm, Winter Storm, and Burning Soul mixes, and weapons. The two side bodies again fell limp giving Faith the opportunity jump between them and slice at the middle body, as Buffy threw a Soul Stealer mix. She gaped when the mix did nothing more than caused the Angra Mainyu to get angry, and cast a Waterga spell on her.

Willow poured a Phoenix Down in Tara’s mouth and then a Hi-Potion to heal any wounds she might have. When Tara opened her eyes, she smiled and took her pistol from Willow and stood. With one pistol now infused with Flare magic and the other with Holy magic Tara began to fire again. The fiend began to cast a reviving spell on the two bodies but was stopped when Willow severed the head of the right body, and Faith severed the left body’s head.

Another Ice Breath spell from Faith, a Winter Storm mix, nine rounds from Tara’s pistols, and Willow doublecasting Flare spells, the fiend crashed to the ground. Trying for one last spell the fiend cast Demi causing the girls to get thrown back, as the fiend disappeared.

Buffy stood up with blood running down the side of her face, and held her left arm close to her body, as she looked around. Faith cried out when she tried to stand, only to fall back down, looking at her leg, she could see the bone sticking out of her calf.

Willow was holding her right arm to her chest, as she used her left to gently remove her left boot, and sock. The throbbing pain in her foot was driving her nuts, examining it she could see the skin was a blackish purple color, and groaned. Tara, like Buffy only had a small wound on her forehead, and ran to Willow.

Looking up Willow gave her a small but painful smile. “Right arm is broken, and so is my left ankle.” She said and saw Buffy approach. “How’re you and Faith?”

“I’m fine, but my shoulder is dislocated, and Faith has a bone sticking out of her leg. You?”

“Arm and ankle.”

“Let me see your arm, Buffy.” Tara said and took her left hand. “This will hurt.”

“Go for it.” Buffy said and cried out when Tara jerked her arm back into place, and cast a healing spell. “Thanks. Now I’d better reset Faith’s leg.” She said and hurried off.

Taking Willow’s arm Tara reset the bone, and hurried to reset her ankle. Willow gritted her teeth and fell unconscious from the pain. She woke up ten minutes later completely healed, and with Tara’s help stood, and saw Faith being helped up by Buffy.

“Thank you. We would have all been dead had it not been for you.” Nhadala said approaching.

“Thanks.” Tara smiled.

“But… look at the camp.” Buffy sighed.

“What a disaster.” Willow lowered her head.

“Don’t worry about it. This is nothing compared to what happened to Home. And besides, what’s done is done.”

“Hey! I smell something good!” Buffy said sniffing the air, and watched as an Al Bhed man drove by on a hover.

“Lusa yht kad ed!” (Come and get it!) He shouted laughing.

“Food?” Faith asked unbelieving.

“Yeah! We whipped it up during your battle. As long as we’re still kicking, we’re gonna get hungry, right? So come on, and eat!” Nhadala said and led the girls to the food and laughed when she saw Dawn, and Mizu already there.

An hour later the girls were stuffed and stood thanking Nhadala, before asking where Benzo and Shinra were.

“They both are at Cactuar Nation.” Nhadala said and shoved the hover driver from his seat. “Take them out there!”

“Yes ma’am!”

Cactuar Nation was much the same except for some damage to the ground, and fallen rocks from an uncovered rock wall. They saw both young boys kneeling down in the center of the hollow, and approached.

“Marnela?” Tara asked when she saw the three-inch tall remains of the cacti.

“She used all her power to stop the fiends.”

“I’m so sorry, Benzo. So… I guess she’s gone, now.”

“No. Look! She’s right here.” Benzo said and pointed to a very small cactus growing from the remains. “She may be small now, but give her time, and she’ll grow. Then we’ll have a new Marnela!” He said happily.

“I don’t get it.” Buffy cocked her head to the right. “Marnela’s gone, but she’ll grow bigger and become a new Marnela… Huh? And what?”

“I thought you knew. 'Marnela is' the Cactuar word for ‘Grandma’ so, yes she’ll grow into a new one.”

“Okay… If you say so.” Faith said shaking her head.

“Well then, we look forward to meeting her again someday.” Tara smiled.

“Right!” Benzo nodded taking Shinra’s hand and leading everyone back to the hover.

Chapter 33

Postby Stormforce » Sat Oct 02, 2004 8:10 pm

Egnalos - Glad you liked the costume spheres, I could barely type when I pictured Faith as a Chocobo. The Angra Mainyu fight was pretty easy to type especially when I'd close my eyes and vision it. Anyway, yup this chapter has the guy from 26 in it, plus who his sidekick is.

Chapter Thirty-Three: Unnatural Weather on Besaid?

One month later on Besaid Island…

Willow was sitting outside leaning against a large tree in the shade, resting from her morning sparing. After the battle in Bikanel, she had taken Mythe's advice and told Tara and the others about the visions and dreams. After getting everything out in the open, Faith had moved back into her hut, and Buffy moved in with her. Both said, after what had been happening they weren't going to brush them off. Now as she sat in the shade she giggled when Faith flipped Buffy over her shoulder, and smiled when Tara lay her head down in her lap.

"Hey baby, how goes the advice giving?" Willow asked running her fingers through Tara's hair.

"Okay, I guess, but I really wish they wouldn't come to me."

"Hey, at least it's not like before." Buffy giggled as she limped over, and sat down beside Willow.

Faith grinned and sat down next to Buffy. "Yeah, last time you weren't getting time alone. Now look, we can hear you two screaming at night."

"Not as bad as both of you!" Tara shot back as she blushed bright red.

"Keep tellin' yourself that." Buffy smirked as Willow groaned.

"Whatever." Tara said sitting up and burying her face in Willow's shoulder, as Faith and Buffy laughed.

The laughter came to a sudden stop when a shadow passed over the island. Looking up into the sky the four girls could see black clouds covering the sun, and stood as the wind howled. Hurrying down the path that led to the village, they met up with Xander and Anya and ran toward the temple grounds. Other villagers joined them as they reached the side of the temple and the outlook.

Looking out over the ocean everyone watched as the islands further down were swept into darkness, as the clouds reached them. A panic swept through the villagers, no one, not even the oldest man of the island, had ever seen anything like it. Nothing but black inky darkness could be seen, even the ocean couldn't be seen when Willow looked over the ledge.

"What the hell is going on?" Faith asked narrowing her eyes.

"Don't know, but can someone light a torch?" Buffy asked from Faith's right.

"Here." Anya said casting a low level Fire spell lighting two torches.

One after another the villagers lit a torch and hurried back to their huts, hoping for the best. Tara watched them go before turning toward the others.

"I don't like this."

"Neither do I." Anya said holding Mythe closer to her chest, as the wind began blowing faster.

"This is bad, ya?" Xander said and shivered as the wind turned cold. "Is it me, or is it getting colder?"

Buffy shook her head as she, too, shivered. "No, it's friggin' cold!" she said with her teeth chattering together.

"Come on, let's get inside." Willow said taking Tara's hand. "Maybe it'll blow over."

Nodding in agreement everyone hurried back to their huts. If they had stayed a minute longer they would have seen one of the islands begin glowing purple against the darkness.

[Somewhere in a dark cavern]

The old man was standing beside a pool of water watching a scene as his face broke out into a wide grin, showing a row of pointy, and very sharp teeth. Turning he looked over the group of unsent before turning to the priest.

“Trema, it is time.” He spoke causing Trema to straighten up and nod before stepping out of the room.

Trema walked down a long dark corridor and stepped in a large thirty-foot round room. There were only three things in the room, besides the unsent himself. A six-foot long and two-foot wide alter was on his left, a set of chains hung from the wall to his right, and a set of chains hung from the ceiling in front of him. He checked the alter chains, pulling on them, and finding them securely set into the stone.

Another unsent entered the room and handed him three black stone bowls and a sharp dagger. Taking the items he laid them on the alter, and proceeded to light four candles. Two black candles at the head of the alter, and two red candles on the foot. The candle flames rose to the ceiling, and created a flaming circle around the room. Nodding to himself, Trema left the room.

“My Lord?” An unsent female solider stepped forward, and bowed. “Who is to be going?”

“Yuki, you are to pick four of your best fighters, and take them with you to Besaid. I want you to protect Trema, and make sure he brings back what is needed.”

“Yes, My Lord.” The female solider said before leaving the room.

“Ranger step forward.” The man said as a six-foot tall dark haired man stepped in front of him. “Take three of my best fiends with you, and strike unholy terror upon Besaid Village.”

“Yes, My Lord.” The man bowed and left the room.

“Preparations are complete, My Lord.” Trema said as he stepped into the room.

“Good, now go with Yuki and bring me the Summoner and child!”

“Yes, Lord Omega, it will be done!”

[On the Farplane]

A scream of rage echoed across the Farplane and large rock flew into the lake as Mythe turned around with a red face making Shelia take a step back, and close her eyes.

“That bastard!”

“Mythe, calm down.” Shiva said staring into the lake.

“Calm down! How can I? That bastard is after Tara! And you know he needs more than just her!”

“I know, you have to remember we Aeons helped in sealing him on that island. But for now we can’t do a damn thing to help, except to hopefully warn the girls in time.”

“Shiva is correct.” Ifrit said approaching with Valefor, and Ixion by his side.

“Once they’re asleep we will call upon them.” Valefor said embracing the one time Summoner.

“This sucks!” Carbuncle said as she approached with Bahamut by her side. “We’re as bad off as before! We barely had enough power to hold Tsuki and help Willow!”

“Yes, but we didn’t have enough power to stop her from using us, after we’d helped them either.” Shiva said as a chill ran down her spine at the thought of Tsuki controlling her. Shiva thought before shaking her head.

“Just be glad we STILL have power.” Ifrit said glancing at each Aeon.

“You’re right.” Anima said from behind approaching with Giles and Ira. “Our power to help could have been taken when Tara sent us.”

Bahamut closed his eyes as he hovered in the air with his legs crossed. “Omega must be stopped.”

The others nodded, knowing if Omega got what he wanted, the people of Spira were doomed, as was Spira itself.

“What are you proposing we do?” Giles asked hoping it wasn’t what he was thinking.

“Kou?” Mythe asked worriedly.

Bahamut opened his dark brown eyes and looked everyone in the group. “We take their bodies for ourselves.”

“WHAT!” Mythe screamed.

“As I thought.” Giles sighed lowering his head.

“You can’t! It could kill them!”

“It is a chance we must take, Mythe. None of them are strong enough to defeat Omega by themselves.”

“How’re you gonna do this?” Ira asked narrowing his eyes.

“Easy, once they’re in Omega’s hands, we take over.”

“Just how do you take over? And what happens to them?” Sheila asked worriedly.

“We step into their bodies, and gain control over them. As for what happens to each consciousness depends, on how well they can handle the extra energy flowing through their body. All of the girls, and the boy are somehow adept in magic. Tara, Willow, and Anya are adept black, white, or gray mages. Faith has her Fiend Skills in magic. Xander has his special ability in casting magic on his blitzball. And although she doesn’t know it, Buffy’s mixes have a small amount of magic in them. Although it is risky it’s the only thing I can think of.”

“But what if their bodies can’t handle the extra energy?” Giles asked knowing full well what would happen.

Sighing Bahamut looked to the ground. “The extra energy flowing through their bodies, will cause death if they cannot handle it.”

“I won’t allow this!” Mythe, Ira, and Sheila shouted.

“It is either that or let them die by Omega’s hands! Look, they can’t destroy Omega without our help, and if they die in doing so, Omega will destroy Spira and everything in it! What do you want?”

“Calm down, Kou.” Shiva said looking at the boy. “If it is done correctly they will be fine. All we have to do it keep our energy steady.”

“It is our only chance.” Bahamut whispered softly. “Please.”

Mythe, Shelia, and Ira reluctantly nodded.

Ixion thought sadly watching the tears run down Mythe’s cheeks, and sighed as he glanced around the group. “Who will be going?”

“I get dibs on Willow.” Ifrit said getting confused stares from the group. “What?”

“Want to be a woman, do we Taiki?” Valefor asked breaking the tension, and getting a small giggle from everyone.

“No!” Ifrit shouted blushing to the roots of his bright red hair. “She’s just like me, fiery, that’s why.”

“Right. You’re calling her cause she’s a redhead.” Shiva smirked.

“Oh shut up.” Ifrit growled.

“Kou, who’re you taking?”

The boy looked up into Shiva’s blue eyes and smiled. “Tara.”

“Why my daughter?”

“Because she is the most powerful out of all, just like you. I know her body can withstand my energy.”

“That leaves Faith, Buffy, Xander, and Anya. Who’s taking them?” Carbuncle asked glancing around the group.

“Anya can hold my dark power, she is the one I’ll take.” Anima said watching Besaid.

“I’ll take Buffy.” Valefor said before smirking. “She needs to learn a bit of real magic.”

Ixion stepped forward. “I get the boy. I’m sure my lighting energies will make his ball stronger.”

“And Faith is mine.” Shiva said nodding to the group.

[Besaid later that night]

A few minutes after the girls had entered their hut, rain began pouring down, hard and fast, before it turned to ice. Willow stared out the window worriedly knowing what was happening wasn’t natural. Besaid was an island, an island that stayed warm year round. But now it was beginning to feel like Gagazet with the cold wind howling, and the rain turning to ice. It wasn’t natural, and she didn’t like it one damn bit.

Now it was six in the evening and looking out the window proved to be difficult, the window had four inches of ice stuck to it. Turing from the window, Willow sighed, and sighed again when she saw her breath. Rubbing her arms she walked back to the couch and sat down letting Tara cover her with the warm blanket, and snuggled against her.

“I think we need a fireplace.” Willow whispered shivering making Tara giggle.

“Why? Once this is over we won’t need it.”

“But…what if it happens again? I’m freezing my ass off! I don’t wanna go through this again.” Willow almost whined.

“Hmm. Your ass feels fine to me.” Tara giggled giving Willow’s butt a good squeeze. “Anyway, I know how we can keep warm.”

“Ooh, do tell.”

“Like this.” Tara whispered leaning up and pressing her lips to Willow’s. “Whatcha think?” she asked pulling back, and giggled when she was picked up and carried into the bedroom.

“I think it’s a good idea.” Willow said gently laying Tara on the bed before capturing her lips in a very arousing kiss.

[Besaid Village]

Ten dark figures appeared standing in the Summoners Circle in the middle of the village, seven of them smirked glancing around in the darkness. Being unsent had its advantages especially in total darkness they could see the small huts clear as if it were daylight. That and not being able to feel the bone chilling wind.

“Ranger, once we’re on the path leading to the Summoner, attack the village and make them scream.” Yuki said to the smirking man. “You four are with us.” She continued turning to her fighters.

“Yes ma’am!”

“Let’s go.” Trema said leading them down the path.

When the six unsent disappeared beyond his line of vision, Ranger turned toward the two gray and black fiends, and one red, purple, and green fiend.

“Attack!” he shouted giving the three fiends free rein of the village. The largest fiend glowed red a brief moment before flames shot out of it’s mouth, hitting two of the small huts. The two smaller ones roared as they ripped the roof off another hut, causing the man and woman inside to scream in terror.

Xander rushed outside only to be knocked back ten-foot as a large foot with two-foot long claws slammed down just inches from him. The fiend roared as a Thundaga spell hit it dead center as Anya stepped outside and threw Xander’s ball. The ball bounced off the giant fiend and rebounded toward Xander, grinning he jumped into the air, caught the ball, and threw it hitting the fiend’s head.

The younger villagers were helping the older men and women, and children toward the temple, trying to avoid the fiends as best as they could. With the flames from the huts lighting up the small village, Anya saw a small girl fall to the ground holding her leg. Her eyes went wide when she saw one of the smaller fiends closing in on the child, and hurriedly cast another Thundaga spell. The force of the spell knocked the fiend back several feet, allowing the child’s mother to carry her away.

Xander cast his Triple Foul spell on the ball trying to blind, poison, and confuse the large fiend, and cursed when it shrugged the spell off. Catching the ball he tried the same spell on the smaller fiends and grinned as the spells took effect. Neither Xander nor Anya saw Ranger step inside their hut.

Willow had just buckled her overalls when the front door was ripped off its hinges, and four men rushed in. Grabbing her sword Willow ran into the living room and blocked the path to the bedroom.

“Who the hell are you?”

“All you need to know is we will be taking the Summoner with us.” Trema said stepping into the room.

“The hell you will!” Willow shouted rushing the four guards, and knocking one of them into Trema and shoving them outside. Turning she blocked the downward swing of one the three left, and kicked a second into the wall. She didn’t see the third until it was too late, and was thrown outside knocking Faith and Buffy down.

“What the fuck is going on!?” Faith shouted as two unsent came out of the hut ready to attack.

“They’re trying to take Tara!” Willow growled blocking another blow, kicking the unsent in his knees, turning in a circle, and effectively severing his head. The unsent man burst into souls and disappeared as Tara screamed. “Take care of them!” Willow shouted running back into the hut, only to see Yuki holding Tara with Trema by her side.

“Lord Omega will be please.” Trema said as all three disappeared.

“Dammit!”

“Will! Hurry! The village!” Buffy’s shouted as Willow ran outside.

Following the others to the village Willow ran into Faith when she stopped in front of her. The village was a totally destroyed. The huts were either burned to the ground, or burning, others had been torn down when the fiends had stepped on them, or through them.

“They took Tara!” Willow shouted angrily bypassing a stunned Faith. Anya could be heard screaming from beside her and Xander’s destroyed hut. “We have to go after her!” she said running toward Anya, who was being held in Xander’s arms.

“Those fucking fiends took my baby!” Anya screamed as her body glowed a deep dark purple.

“Mythe too?”

“What do you mean ‘too’?” Xander asked wiping his tear-stained face.

“They’ve got Tara!”

“We’ve gotta get ‘em back!” Buffy said as the wind died down. “But we don’t know who took them.”

“I know. The man that took Tara said it was Omega.”

“You mean we gotta go back to that friggin’ island?”

“Yes.”

“Then let’s go, ya?” Xander said picking his blitzball up.

Well there's 33, chapter 34 might be out tomorrow, I didn't like the way it turned out, and now I'm re-writing it. :)

Still Waters T - Hi :wave I'm glad you love the fic, and I hope you enjoy the game :) And here's the update :D

Egnalos - Yup they took 'em and destroyed the village. With help from the Farplane the outcome of the dreams/nightmares will be different. And here's the next chapter. :)

Chapter Thirty-Four: Omega Island

It had only taken everyone a few minutes to board the airship and prepared for battle as they flew toward Omega Island. Buffy had added a few things in the airship after Dawn had found a newer faster ship to play with, Buffy liked to say.

The storage closet under the stairs was cleaned out, and was now used as the weapons storage. Three new and very different Blitzballs were strapped down on the top shelf.

The first one had red and white stripes covered in metal studs, with two six-inch long spikes on either side of the ball. The second one was black with blue leather studded stripes covering most of the ball, and the last ball was black, with a wide red stripe down the middle, a yellow circle was painted on either side, and sharp ten-inch long curved spikes stood up from the red stripe-this was the ball Xander carefully picked up.

Willow wouldn’t fight with any other sword besides the one Xander had given her-knowing that with her magic she didn’t need another weapon, and began sharpening her sword. Faith had her Spirit Lance and was sharpening it; Anya picked up a small Cactuar doll, nodded and sat down. Buffy had her daggers strapped to each leg, and the skull and crossbones sword in its sheath around her waist.

When the group stared out the front window stunned, Omega Island was glowing a brighter purple, as the large fiends lined the beach. The fiends roared as the ship passed overhead, heading for the center of the island.

A large temple had rose out of the ground and stood proudly as the purple glow began to get brighter, Buffy swung her ship around and sat it down at the side of the temple. She stood from the pilots seat and hurried over to the weapons closet, gathering items for her mixes. Once her pouch was full the group hurried toward the cargo door, feeling the ship rock with the thunderous steps of the fiends.

Stepping outside prepared for battle the group looked around confused. The fiends were in a circle around the temple and ship, not moving, only watching them closely. Willow turned when she heard the temple door open, and frowned gripping her sword as Trema stepped out. He smiled at the group before turning and entering the temple once more, leaving the door open.

“Looks like we’re expected.” Faith said keeping an eye on the fiends as the group moved toward the temple door.

“Stay on guard. We don’t know what’s in there.” Willow said glancing inside at the empty chamber.

There was nothing special about the room, no statues, no carvings, noting. Only tall stone pillars lined the room, there were four doors, two at the far end, and one on each side of the room. When everyone was inside the door slammed shut causing the group to jump, Xander turned and tried the handle, finding the door locked.

“No good, we’re locked in.”

“Doesn’t matter, I’m not leaving here without what we came for.” Willow said getting nods all around.

“So? Where to?” Buffy asked glancing around the room, and stopped as she thought of something. “Hey, Will, isn’t this the place from your visions? Wasn’t we killed here?”

“This is something like the room we were in, but there’s no alter. But if this is the place then we’d all better be careful-” Willow was cut off when a baby’s cry echoed from the right, and Tara’s scream from the left.

“My baby!” Anya shouted running toward the right with Xander right behind her.

“Dammit! Faith, go with them!” Willow said as she and Buffy hurried toward the left.

Anya cast a Flare spell breaking the door open and rushing into the dimly lit corridor with Xander and Faith right behind her. Mythe’s cry echoed and reechoed as it bounced off the empty corridor’s walls, confusing everyone as to where it was coming from. Three corridor’s were on their left, two on the right, and the on they were standing in led into the dark.

Grabbing a torch from the wall Anya lit it bringing more light into the dimness, and looked one way to the other. Another cry bounced off the walls causing Anya to turn to the left, and was stopped when Faith placed her hand on her shoulder.

“Wait.” Faith said and closed her eyes, and waited. The cry came again as Faith’s eyes snapped open; she pointed to the third left corridor. “There!”

Halfway down the corridor they came to a complete stop as a green scaly fiend stepped out from an offshoot to their left. It was hunched over seeing as it was at least three-feet taller than the ceiling, the foot long claws on its hands scrapped against the floor as it moved, making a high-pitched noise.

Being in no mood to be stopped, Anya cast a Demi spell, followed by a Flare spell knocking the fiend back and allowing Faith to hurry and behead it. She shivered as she remembered the description of the fiend, when Willow had told them of her dream.

Xander opened the door in the offshoot and peered inside, and grinned, the only thing he saw was Mythe laying on a small alter. Before Faith could stop either of the two parents they rushed inside, Faith was following when everything went dark, and she fell to the floor.

“Get the others.” Trema said causing two large unsent men to nod.

Just as Anya was about to pick up Mythe an unsent soldier appeared in front of her with a sword held in a fighting position. Xander hit the unsent with his blitzball knocking him back, and into the alter, as Anya punched him in the face. Two more unsent appeared in the room casting a Flare spell on Xander knocking him into the wall, and unconscious.

Anya screamed when she was sent flying back and skidded to a spot next to Xander. Standing she cast a Firaga spell followed by a Thundaga spell causing the unsent to vanish. As she checked on Xander she didn’t notice Yuki appear behind her until it was too late, Yuki raised her gun, and hit the back of Anya’s head. Smirking Yuki turned and ordered three more unsent to take them away, as she picked the baby up- handing her to Trema and vanished.

[Other side of the temple…]

The dimly lit corridor caused Buffy to shiver and hope they didn’t run into those un-kill-able skeletons like before. Willow was just ahead of her carrying a torch, lighting the way as they came to a T intersection. Glancing to the right caused Willow’s eyes to widen and shake her head, grabbing Buffy’s hand she took off to the left. Buffy stifled a scream when she looked over her shoulder, and saw seven large green fiends right behind them.

Reaching into her pouch, Buffy pulled out a vial labeled Winter Storm and threw it. The fiends shrugged off the mix and began running faster causing Buffy to scream.

“Will! Hurry! Right behind us!” Buffy shouted as she passed Willow and began to pull her along.

“Shouldn’t have pissed them off!” Willow shouted as a claw just missed her back.

“Sorry!” Buffy said as the rounded a corner leading to an open door and ran inside slamming the door shut behind them. Buffy fell forward unconscious and slid to the floor as Willow turned and was hit with the butt of a rifle and fell beside Buffy.

“Lord Omega will be please.” Ranger smirked as Trema appeared with Faith, Anya, and Xander at his feet, holding the baby in his arms.

“Yes, he will. Now lets get these mortals chained up, and ready for the ritual.”

“Yes, master Trema.” Yuki said picking Willow’s unconscious body up.

Willow groaned from the throbbing pain in her head as she opened her eyes, and saw the tip of her shoes were barely touching the floor. Her arms were raised above her head -wrists in chains hanging from the ceiling. When she glanced around she found everything just as the visions showed.

Buffy was chained to the wall, Tara was chained to an alter, and she was hanging from the ceiling. Only difference was Faith, Xander, and Anya was also chained to the walls, all still unconscious.

“Ah, I see you are the first to awake.” A voice said from her right.

Turning to look she saw the one that’d taken Tara and a man from her visions. “You must be Omega, right?” Willow asked narrowing her eyes.

“That is Lord Omega to you mortal!” Trema took two steps forward and slapped Willow, causing her to twist around.

“Now, now, Trema. She doesn’t know how to act in front of someone as great as I.”

“What do you want?” Faith asked struggling against her chains.

Willow looked around and found everyone had awoke and was staring at the two unsent, and felt her anger rise. Tara was covered in blood, whether it was own or not Willow couldn’t tell, Buffy had streaks of blood on her face, but no wounds -so Willow thought it must be from getting knocked out. Faith only had a small trail of blood on the side of her face, Xander and Anya didn’t look too worse for wear, considering they didn’t have any blood on them, only dust.

“Where’s my baby!?” Anya shouted as her hands glowed black.

“Your baby is fine…for now.” Trema said, as the baby appeared in his hands, asleep.

“As for what I want,” Omega said stepping forward, “that is freedom, and only a Summoner, a Summoner’s lover, and guardian can give this to me. Well their blood can give it to me, and I also need the blood of new life.”

“Meaning?” Xander asked eyeing the unsent.

“Meaning, I need the blood of a baby. That is where your child will help me.”

“No! You can’t!”

“I can black mage, and I will.”

“Lord Omega, the time grows near.”

“Thank you Trema, begin the ritual.”

Trema nodded. “Yes My Lord.”

[Farplane]

Mythe, Shelia, Ira, and Giles were watching the scene with a growing sense of dread as Omega picked up a dagger, and slowly made his way toward Buffy. The Fayth were standing in a circle chanting as several different colored lights surrounded their bodies.

By the souls of the Fayth

Let us help those in need

By our power combined

Let our power unite

The circle of Fayth disappeared from the Farplane, leaving the ground cracked where they were once standing. Carbuncle nodded her head toward Death Dragon and clasped hands.

We call upon the power of the Fayth

Souls of the good hear our cry

Let us pass into Spira

To aide in battle

Both Carbuncle and Death Dragon vanished in a swirl of pink and black energy, as Mythe, Giles, Shelia, and Ira joined hands.

Souls of former Summoners

Souls of former Guardians

Hear our plea

Lend your power

And aid us in battle

The small group vanished from the Farplane knowing they had to time everything just right for the plan to work.

[Ritual Chamber]

[Buffy’s Mind]

“Hello guardian.”

“You know me as Valefor, and I am here to help.”

Omega stepped back from Buffy as her body began glowing light blue, and her eyes glowed orange. The chains snapped allowing her to stand and sneer at the unsent.

[Tara’s Mind]

“Hello Tara.”

“Yes, I am here to help. Do not worry.”

Trema stepped back from Tara as her body glowed dark gray, and her eyes turned yellow. The alter exploded as Tara rose into the air looking down upon her would be killers. Omega could feel the power pouring from the guardians and cried out in rage.

Xander’s body began glowing bright yellow as his eyes glowed green.

[Xander’s Mind]

“Hello guardian”

“Ixion. We are here to help.”

Xander heard a deep chuckle.

[Anya’s Mind]

“Hello Anya, do not worry we are here to help.”

“Anima”

Anya broke her chains as her body and eyes glowed black. The chains holding Faith froze and crumbled as her body and eyes glowed dark blue.

[Faith’s Mind]

“You are correct, I did it.”

And just who the hell are you?>

“Straight to the point, eh? Either way, I’m Shiva. And we are here to help in your battle.”

Turning Omega was thrown against the wall as Willow smirked, her body and eyes glowing bright red.

[Willow’s Mind]

“Ifrit. We Fayth are here to lend our strength, fiery one.”

“Do not worry you will be fine.”

“Hello again, Omega.” Tara said with Bahamut’s voice overlapping hers.

“You know you’re not allowed out of you prison.” Willow said with a deep growl holding a flaming sword in her right hand.

“B-but how? You-you’re dead!”

“No, you are wrong.” Xander said calmly stepping forward, as a ball of electricity appeared in his hand.

“You’re the one that is dead!” Faith shouted lunging toward Omega, as a spear made of ice appeared in her hands.

Omega rolled to the side avoiding Faith’s ice spear, and ripping a chain from the wall. Turning he swung the chain around his head, and threw it toward Faith, only to watch as it was knocked from the air by a energy blast from Buffy. Omega glowed blackish red as a sword appeared in his hand, and blocked a downward slash from Willow’s flaming sword.

Trema was thrown across the room as a Demi and Holy spell exploded at his chest, and slammed into the wall. Standing he saw Tara and Anya advancing toward him, as they floated through the air. Yuki ran into the room only to be knocked outside and into Ranger, as Buffy threw a Firestorm mix, followed by an energy blast. Xander threw a ball of electricity hitting Omega in the head, before he was thrown into the wall as Omega cast a Flare spell.

Carbuncle appeared with Death Dragon by her side, and cast a Reflect spell on the group as Death Dragon used a Cure spell on Xander. The Blizzaga spell bounced off the pink shield and back toward Trema, causing him to jump to the right to avoid his spell. A dark gray rod appeared next to Tara and flew forward hitting Trema in the shoulder, and impaling him to the wall.

Willow blocked Omega’s sword from taking her head off, as Faith slashed his chest with her spear. Omega jumped back, with Willow following and bringing her sword down and across his face. A ball of electricity hit Omega in the face, causing him to scream in pain, and in rage, as Xander caught the ball. Ranger had slipped past Buffy as she fought with Yuki, and saw Omega fall. Holding his hand up palm facing forward ice shards flew forward hitting Faith in the back, and protruding out her chest.

Faith looked down at her chest and smirked as the ice shards fell to the ground, and the wounds healed.

Willow turned casting a Flare spell on the unsent, and sent him flying into Yuki as Buffy hit her with a Rolling Thunder mix, followed by a Firaga spell. The mix and spell hit both Yuki and Ranger as he hit her, and fell to the ground. Trema cried out as Anya cast another Flare spell combined with Tara’s Holy.

“That is enough!” Omega screamed, first glowing red, and then black. “You all will die here!” he growled as his body began to grow bigger and breaking through the ceiling.

Trema, Yuki, and Ranger screamed, as they were absorbed into Omega’s body. His green and black body was seventy-foot tall, and forty-foot wide. He crouched down on legs the size of three oak trees put together, with arms stretching out fifty-foot, and fifteen-foot long claws on his hands and feet.

“This is his true form!” Mythe shouted as she appeared with the others by her side.

“Now is the time to end it!” Giles shouted clasping hands with Ira and Sheila, with Mythe in the middle.

“Now we split!” Tara shouted, as Bahamut appeared standing beside her.

Everyone staggered and felt weak, as the Fayth split from their body’s to stand next to them.

“Now what?” Willow asked as the Fayth made a circle with her and the others in the middle.

“We wait” Bahamut said watching as Omega was bound in place by an invisible force.

“For what?” Faith asked confused. “Look, we don’t have our weapons we can’t fight without them.”

“Here.” Shiva said, as Xander’s blitzball, Willow’s sword, and Faith’s spear appeared floating in front of them. “Also, Tara, here is your Summoner’s Rod.”

“We can’t hold him much longer!” A new but old voice called out. “Hurry!”

Turning Willow nearly dropped her sword. “What the hell!”

“I think I’m seeing things.” Buffy said rubbing her eyes trying to dispel the figure. “Nope still there.”

The invisible force had appeared causing the girls to gasp. Tsuki was just one of a thousand different men and women holding Omega in place. Lenne was standing beside Mythe with thousands of Summoners surrounding them. The group watched as more and more Fayth began to appear all around them and Omega, and all glowing different colors.

“What is this?” Anya asked. “And where’s my baby?”

“Your baby is fine. As for what this is, we, Mythe and Giles called upon the other Fayth, Summoners, and Guardians to aide in battle.” Valefor said as she and the other Fayth began glowing.

“Shit! How many Fayth were there?” Faith asked knowing there were more Fayth than Summoners and Guardians put together.

“Remember the Summoning? The dream of the Fayth.” Willow said in understanding.

“Now!” Mythe and Lenne, as energy flowed from their bodies and the others into the Fayth, from the Fayth and into Tara, Willow, Buffy, Faith, Xander and Anya.

Buffy fell to her knees as the power took over her orange glowing body, her eyes snapped open showing green glowing eyes. She stood and looked around seeing the others in the same state and knew what to do. Holding her hands up, pointing toward Omega she grit her teeth against the pain and waited. As if in a trance the others followed her lead.

“By the power of Summoners long since dead, I will destroy thee!” Tara said as a ball of energy formed in the palms of her hands.

“By the power of Guardians long since dead, I will destroy thee!” Willow, Faith, Buffy, Xander, and Anya spoke in unison.

“By the power granted to us by the Fayth, it shall be done!” The group shouted as the energy grew and formed together, creating a ball of energy bigger than Omega.

The ball of energy shot through the air engulfing Omega, as he screamed and was torn apart. Once the unsent was gone the black clouds covering the sky dispersed allowing the bright morning sun to shine down on the island. Omega’s fiends screamed as they disappeared, leaving the island quite and once again safe.

Tired and worn out from the fighting and the energy drain the girls and Xander fell to their knees, leaning against one another for support. Willow glanced around the group and saw that the other Fayth, Guardians and Summoners were still there, smiling at them before they vanished.

“Okay, if I’m not dead, and on the Farplane, I’m going to sleep for a week!”

“You’re not dead, Willow, but you bloody well could have been.” Giles said relived to see the group alive.

“What’s that mean?” Xander asked around a yawn.

“The energy flow could have killed you.” Ira said watching Willow’s face turn red, and backed up a step. “Atleast that’s what Bahamut said!”

“It could have killed us?” Willow calmly asked standing and looking at Bahamut.

“Yes.” The boy nodded and took off running with Willow chasing after him waving her sword around.

“I thought she was tired?” Anya said before shooting to he feet. “My baby! Where is she!?”

“Calm down, here she is.” Mythe said as the baby appeared in her arms. “She’s beautiful. And I am honored that you named her after me.” she said handing Anya the baby and turned to Tara. “And when am I going to see any grandchildren running around?”

Tara blushed looking from her mother to Willow -who was still chasing Bahamut- and to the ground. “Uh…W-well, y-you…we…us…not, umm ready?” Tara said just as Bahamut run up to them.

“Thank you for your help, it was good seeing you again, but I must go!” He said glancing over his shoulder to see Willow closing in on him. “Goodbye!”

“Where’d that little creep go?” Willow asked as the Fayth laughed.

“You scared him off.” Ira said and chuckled, as Shelia embraced her daughter.

“Willow, I know I taught you better than to scare poor little boys.”

“But mom!” Willow whined suddenly feeling like a child herself.

“Willow,” Mythe smiled sweetly, “My daughter will not give me a straight answer, and I was hoping you would.”

“Sure, what is it?” Willow spoke not noticing Tara franticly shake her head and wave her hands in front of her face.

“When am I going to see any grandchildren running around?”

“Yes, I would like to see a grandchild or two or three.” Shelia said smiling as Willow blushed.

“Wha? Huh? Kids? How many!?” Willow glanced from Mythe, to Sheila, finally letting her eyes set on Tara.

Mythe and Shelia laughed watching two flustered girls look everywhere but them. “Looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer, huh Mythe?”

“I guess so.”

“Ah, leave the poor girls alone, they’ll have three or four kids when they’re ready.” Ira laughed seeing Willow’s eyes go wide.

“We must be going.” Valefor said smiling at the group before she and the Fayth vanished.

“Yes, I want you kids to get home and rest.” Giles grinned and disappeared.

“Thank you for taking care of my daughter.” Mythe said as she embraced each of the girls and Xander before pulling Willow and Tara into an embrace. “As for the two of you, get some rest and don’t keep Faith and Buffy up at night.” She teased kissing each girl on the forehead.

Shelia and Ira hugged Willow before stepping over to Tara. “Keep her in line. We know how she can be.” Shelia smiled as she and Ira disappeared.

The group glanced around the clearing and was surprised to see no damage to the island from the fiends, temple, or the energy. Buffy did see her airship and screamed when she spotted a long scratch on side.

“My baby! What happened?” Buffy shouted running toward the ship. “Poor baby, don’t worry mommy will give you a new paint job after resting.”

“I think she cares more for the ship than she does me.” Faith said watching Buffy leave a small kiss on the ship, and sighed. “I really do.”

“Don’t worry Faith, she’ll be yours again especially if you help her paint the ship.” Xander grinned.

“Paint that thing? It’ll take forever! Plus, she gets all bossy when she does anything inside or out.”

“Come on! Lets get home and rest! My baby needs some new paint!” Buffy shouted lowering the cargo door and running inside.

“Well, she had me at ‘lets get home’.” Anya said holding Mythe close to her as she and Xander headed toward the ship, with Faith following.

“Whatcha say, baby? Wanna go home?” Willow asked cupping Tara’s face and leaving a sweet kiss on her lips.

“Sounds good. Let’s go home.” Tara smiled walking toward the airship hand in hand with Willow.

As the cargo door closed no one saw the black portal open in the middle of the clearing, and a three-foot tall mouse with a crown on his head step out. The mouse watched the airship fly off toward Besaid Island and nodded his head with a smile, before stepping through the portal and disappearing.

I know I must sound like a broken record, but this was great!! :clap :clap :clap

This was a really amazing chapter; everyone working together, even Tsuki and Lenne, and the part after the battle with Willow chasing after Bahamut waving her sword around was really funny, or Mythe asking Tara when she was going to see any grandchildren running around, and then asking Willow, it was great after all they been trough a really nice ending for this chapter.

The thing that had me all :confused was this part at the end:

I was all... what the heck?! a mouse with a crown? and from where exactly that came from? and now don't you go and tell me that from the black portal... is that part setup for the sequel?

Anyway... great job as usual, waiting for the next chap. :bounce
