I have a radically different take on this comic and Tara's appearance. I think it is truly and terribly cynical on the part of Scott Allie and Joss Whedon, and I think it has been done for one reason only, to get people off their backs. Here is my reasoning: Allie has stated, very directly and on several occasions, that Tara would not be making any appearance in the Buffy comic. And to date, this has been the case; Willow remains in a relation with someone else though has had some form of sex with Saga Vasuki in order to gain certain knowledge and power. Tara, or some part of her, has appeared only in a dream, but never in any other occasion. Thus, the idea of bringing her in for the Willow one shot, allows Whedon and Allie to remain true to what they said: Tara has not appeared in the Buffy comic series. At the same time, it allows them to act as though they are responding to those who would love to see her reappear. And the harder truth is that they also put her to bed, finally and irrevocably- Willow makes the decision to not bring her back, because it would be too close to what she did in bringing Buffy back (which, to be clear, was actually a good thing, bringing Buffy back, because she ended up saving the world...). So for all of you excited by seeing Tara appear, note that you will not ever see her appear again; this is all you will get. This way ME manages to put the issue behind them, while actually seeming to give readers what they want, and in a way that allows them to state that they are not giving readers what they want. I find it cynical and saddening. Not at all anything to get excited about. It is the end of Tara, mark my word.
He hurt my nose!
